You won't BELIEVE what I FOUND IN THE BUSH, owner CONFRONTED code enforcement

  • I over heard my co-worker talking at work saying that code enforcement had stopped at her house. Apparently having her daughters graduation sign between the road and the sidewalk in a no no. She told them she was going to leave to there until after the party and code enforcement told her they would take it if she did. A few days later, she received a letter in the mail from code enforcement, that not only addressed the sign, but also gave her a few days to get the bushes hanging over the sidewalk trimmed. Knowing that she is a single mom and struggling like a lot of people in todays world, I decided to surprise her and help. When I arrived, she had no idea I was coming. These 8' tall shrubs had to come down. In addition, I cleaned up some thick weeds and grapevine around her garage. She was so appreciative!!! She even came out to lend a hand. During the clean up, we found a little creepy crawly hanging on a post in one of the shrubs. Anyone that knows me, knows I just don't like the little buggers. Check out the video to see what it was. As always, we can all "Leave a Mark".

    I'm a Zoning Administrator for a small town in NY. Generally there is a right of way(from the center of the street to the person's property) distance that determines the Town's property. The Town can enforce in that area. If it is past that point...then it becomes the landowners property. Any sign located on a person's property is protected under the 1st Amendment...and should never be touched, unless it's vulger, or political, sometimes regulated by certain dates. Thanks for all you do for everyone!!

      As an avid walker and bicyclist, i cannot count how many times I've been scratched, poked, or grabbed by overhanging bushes like these. And if you get a trailing branch at the right height, it can get someone in the face, or worse, the eyes. Then there's a little thing about medical bills and court cases because it could be prevented by, yes, cutting them back.
      The sign issue is because, depending on the size and placement, it could obstruct the view of someone in a car pulling out of a driveway or side street. Just saying.😊

    That's why never plant brushes or trees next to the sidewalk or near the roads, someone will complain. If you do, plant them a little far away from the spot.

    I do think the bushes warranted a fine, since they were blocking the sidewalk, especially for anyone using a wheelchair or walker. If it was me, I would have recommended removing them completely so she no longer has to worry about them. They are burning bushes, which are a non-native invasive species that are spreading to our forests, from yards by the birds, and killing off the native plants! We planted them in droves, years ago, before we knew the damage non-native invasive plants could cause. I have removed the burning bush I had planted decades ago, as well as the non-native invasive butterfly bushes and beauty berry. I also removed the porcelain vine I had planted before I knew better, and the Chinese Wisteria the previous owner had planted on my property.

    Oh geez 🙄 the bushes of course needed a trim!!! But don’t they have more pressing issues than complaining about a little sign that is only there for a graduation. It’s not staying there. Let’s concern ourselves with more important things. People really have nothing else to do with that little power you give them.

    The fact that these are deciduous bushes makes for a bigger problem every time they are trimmed. Each cut will result in multiple shoots as regrowth starts. In this situation I would recommend the removal of these shrubs due to their high maintenance.

    ❤ Hey Mark, Hope you had a great 4th of July 🎉🎉, anywho, to start off with, these guys that are Riding their bikes ON the sidewalks SHOULDN'T BE, it is for people walking, Not sure when that wasn't a law anymore, but I always got into trouble if I did it, so I only did it once, getting past that thought, looks like the cities are trying to FINE people to make easier money instead of Focusing on MORE important problems and issues that NEED Help and attention, but that would take ALOT More thought and they would rather not do that 🤣😂🤣. Anyway, another NICE clean, finished job, NEVER have to worry about you delivering the AWESOME episodes, Stay Safe and Have A Great weekend and CYA soon Next TIME Brother 🌞✌️👍🚜😎

      the sidewalk is inaccessible for anyone using a wheelchair or walker to get around with, so yes, they should get fined for those bushes. In our small town, kids under 16 are supposed to ride on the sidewalk, and get stopped if they are in the street. But anyone over 16 is supposed to be in the street and follow the same rules as car drivers.

    • @deionsharpe5139
      @deionsharpe5139 26 дней назад +1

      @@miriamrighter1666 NEVER, and I mean NEVER heard of any BS about UNDER 16 , and really, , they SHOULD NOT, be out around the STREET curbside riding their bikes anyway, that's why they get HIT and get into MOST ACCIDENTS because they are in the street TOO YOUNG, they need to ALWAYS follow the RULES from DAY ONE, or they will ALWAYS think it's okay to BREAK THE LAWS, which ALOT of them go ahead and do now and think it's FINE and FUNNY, people get INJURED and HURT that way, so you keep on thinking the INCORRECT way of letting kids under 16 break the rules, keep them in YOUR own CITY 🏙️🌆 PLEASE, and you pay for their penalties of causing ACCIDENTS

Second anyone that would trip or bush against the sharp branches could be inured and then an unnecessary lawsuit. Third they will always need trimming back. You can purchase an inexpensive pair of hedge clippers at your local hardware store.
    You don't need electric ones but the manual are easier if you trim your bushes on a regular basis.
    The hedge was blocking the sidewalk, perhaps a warning then a fine.
    For the sign, the village really needs to get over those unless they are there for an extended period of time.
