You won't BELIEVE what I FOUND IN THE BUSH, owner CONFRONTED code enforcement

- I over heard my co-worker talking at work saying that code enforcement had stopped at her house. Apparently having her daughters graduation sign between the road and the sidewalk in a no no. She told them she was going to leave to there until after the party and code enforcement told her they would take it if she did. A few days later, she received a letter in the mail from code enforcement, that not only addressed the sign, but also gave her a few days to get the bushes hanging over the sidewalk trimmed. Knowing that she is a single mom and struggling like a lot of people in todays world, I decided to surprise her and help. When I arrived, she had no idea I was coming. These 8' tall shrubs had to come down. In addition, I cleaned up some thick weeds and grapevine around her garage. She was so appreciative!!! She even came out to lend a hand. During the clean up, we found a little creepy crawly hanging on a post in one of the shrubs. Anyone that knows me, knows I just don't like the little buggers. Check out the video to see what it was. As always, we can all "Leave a Mark".

I'm a Zoning Administrator for a small town in NY. Generally there is a right of way(from the center of the street to the person's property) distance that determines the Town's property. The Town can enforce in that area. If it is past that point...then it becomes the landowners property. Any sign located on a person's property is protected under the 1st Amendment...and should never be touched, unless it's vulger, or political, sometimes regulated by certain dates. Thanks for all you do for everyone!!
Thanks for the insight, appreciate the comment.
As an avid walker and bicyclist, i cannot count how many times I've been scratched, poked, or grabbed by overhanging bushes like these. And if you get a trailing branch at the right height, it can get someone in the face, or worse, the eyes. Then there's a little thing about medical bills and court cases because it could be prevented by, yes, cutting them back.
The sign issue is because, depending on the size and placement, it could obstruct the view of someone in a car pulling out of a driveway or side street. Just saying.😊
When I bought my first house, I was told that the city owned between the sidewalk and the street, but I was responsible for keeping it cut
That's why never plant brushes or trees next to the sidewalk or near the roads, someone will complain. If you do, plant them a little far away from the spot.
Yes, as a child I had to walk in the street due to homeowners not maintaining their property and encroaching the sidewalks.
I do think the bushes warranted a fine, since they were blocking the sidewalk, especially for anyone using a wheelchair or walker. If it was me, I would have recommended removing them completely so she no longer has to worry about them. They are burning bushes, which are a non-native invasive species that are spreading to our forests, from yards by the birds, and killing off the native plants! We planted them in droves, years ago, before we knew the damage non-native invasive plants could cause. I have removed the burning bush I had planted decades ago, as well as the non-native invasive butterfly bushes and beauty berry. I also removed the porcelain vine I had planted before I knew better, and the Chinese Wisteria the previous owner had planted on my property.
Glad i read this comment. Got some work to do. 😳🤢. Nice job! ♥️👍. Happy Graduation!
Oh geez 🙄 the bushes of course needed a trim!!! But don’t they have more pressing issues than complaining about a little sign that is only there for a graduation. It’s not staying there. Let’s concern ourselves with more important things. People really have nothing else to do with that little power you give them.
Mark, i appreciate you taking the time to clean her whole yard. Very nice job!
All the Pretty Girls come out when Mark starts working!
Oh Please 😂 Bats are so beneficial! I don't get the Grad sign. She maintains that fairway...! The bushes I get! Nice of you to help her ❤😊
Mark, it’s like watching Picasso paint a picture. Those bushes are a piece of art!! Thanks for the video.
I love the garbage can man. That should be your trademark going forward
lol, forgot my bucket, had to borrow one. luckily she had some holes in the back yard so I could repurpose the dirt.
GREAT JOB!!!!!! God bless. I would have cut down those 2 bushes for LOW maintenance in my Senior years. People need to be careful where they plant bushes and trees.
Great job Mark 👍🏼
Thanks 👍
Our by law would make you take those hedges out of there. If you can't see that bicycle flying down the street on the sidewalk.... well let's just say what's worse hitting a kid or bushes!
For sure, they didn't look that bad driving by, but after stopping they did cover a lot of the sidewalk.
Great Job
Appreciate you watching
Agree with code enforcement on the bushes! Bushes need to go. People with disabilities would not be able to use the side walk. Shame on those that planed them that close to the sidewalk.
I agree.
Half the trees in my yard were planted generations ago, now those same people were complain about the trees overhanging then we removed them and the complained again.
We still have 1 large gum tree out the back because its a habitat tree
The hedge really didn't look that big at first. Great job, vast improvement. Nathan's Lawn Care YT of Australia uses his mower to mulch up the hedge clippings dramatically reducing their bulk.
Great job Mark!!
Picky! Picky, Picky!
Anything for $.
Yes, they were in the walkway.
Can we fine the cities when we find their areas not meeting code?
Nice red cat
Thank you for helping others. I think the government should take care of these things, considering the situation she is in. By the way, what a scare I got. When the guy on the bicycle passed by and your image appeared, I swear that the noise made by the machine seemed to me like an electric gypsy note. Wow.
Good job!!
Thanks!
Good job Bosco😊
LOL, thanks Eric
Really lady, I believe those bushes are in the way!!
I think they are taking it too far. You are awesome Mark for what you do in your community. God bless you!!😊🙏🏻🙏🏻
Looks so much better. Good job. 👍
Sorry lady but those bushes were definitely hindering disabled and non disabled people from safely using the sidewalk. Long past time for them to go....
Thank you, Mark!
He did a wonderful job. I know she appreciative by her actions.❤
She was overdue for trimming the bushes. What I don't get is a problem with a little temporary sign put up for a few hours.
Wonderful thoughtful job. Thank you
The fact that these are deciduous bushes makes for a bigger problem every time they are trimmed. Each cut will result in multiple shoots as regrowth starts. In this situation I would recommend the removal of these shrubs due to their high maintenance.
Why can't more people help each other you did good Sir. Thank you for helping her out.
Thanks for helping her. The bushes need to go.
Excellent job you have done there Sir. My compliments to you.
First time I've come across your video will keep an eye4 for it!
Well Sir, you left a good mark. Thank you 🌹
💚👍👍👍
As always, thanks Sandy!!!!! Happy 4th.
Bat-1 / Mark-0😅. Their code enforcement seems more like an HOA. Cleaned up nicely, the bushes will fill out nicely.
Johnny 1 Mark 0.... LMAO, that funny!
Bats are awesome creatures!! So good for the environment!!
Lol, soon as I posted, you said I know they're good for the environment but.....lmao!!
When they start to grow out, they will be stunning, love the street, from Australia..
❤ Hey Mark, Hope you had a great 4th of July 🎉🎉, anywho, to start off with, these guys that are Riding their bikes ON the sidewalks SHOULDN'T BE, it is for people walking, Not sure when that wasn't a law anymore, but I always got into trouble if I did it, so I only did it once, getting past that thought, looks like the cities are trying to FINE people to make easier money instead of Focusing on MORE important problems and issues that NEED Help and attention, but that would take ALOT More thought and they would rather not do that 🤣😂🤣. Anyway, another NICE clean, finished job, NEVER have to worry about you delivering the AWESOME episodes, Stay Safe and Have A Great weekend and CYA soon Next TIME Brother 🌞✌️👍🚜😎
I don't believe bikes should be own the sidewalks here either. Thanks for watching, enjoy your 4TH.!!
the sidewalk is inaccessible for anyone using a wheelchair or walker to get around with, so yes, they should get fined for those bushes. In our small town, kids under 16 are supposed to ride on the sidewalk, and get stopped if they are in the street. But anyone over 16 is supposed to be in the street and follow the same rules as car drivers.
@@miriamrighter1666 NEVER, and I mean NEVER heard of any BS about UNDER 16 , and really, , they SHOULD NOT, be out around the STREET curbside riding their bikes anyway, that's why they get HIT and get into MOST ACCIDENTS because they are in the street TOO YOUNG, they need to ALWAYS follow the RULES from DAY ONE, or they will ALWAYS think it's okay to BREAK THE LAWS, which ALOT of them go ahead and do now and think it's FINE and FUNNY, people get INJURED and HURT that way, so you keep on thinking the INCORRECT way of letting kids under 16 break the rules, keep them in YOUR own CITY 🏙️🌆 PLEASE, and you pay for their penalties of causing ACCIDENTS
Those kitty litter boxes do come in handy.
Great job!!
Looks great!
I think that’s how the cities are making their money and the city owns where the water meters are so why aren’t they trimming the bushes back.
Yes the bushes needed trimming but the graduation sign was so petty. If the city owns between sidewalk and street they need to maintain it!!!
People just don't realize how much work is involved in owning a home.
Bulivaeds are city property ..let them mow and maintain them... 😊
A graduation sign for x hours is not an offense. Not like it's there FOREVER!!!!
I think any piece of ground your are forced to maintain is yours and as long as you are not obstructing traffic, you should be able to to what you want with it if it is in a residential area.
Now the bushes can be maintained easily ... every time the grass is mowed contol the overhang of the bushes too. Easy job with a cheap garden hand tool. Love the transformation... but if they invasive species really think about removal...😊❤
Awesome job
All oaths should be cleared" how can a wheelchair or pram rude there?, some folk are way too selfish
Great job you saved a yard.
Well done
IMO, the bushes “over power” the yard and home. The bushes should have been cut back almost to the ground. Let them regrow keeping them nicely shaped in a regular basis.
The bushes are a violation. the sign was on the towns right-of-way so it was not supposed to be there either.
Exactly. She wasn't playing by the rules and got called on it 🤑
Those bushes have been let go way too long! They should be half the size they are now. Most homeowners don't realize this and let them grow to a point of interference and no longer take on their look or design.
The bushes could be cut to the ground.
I don't like bats either I would of been gone.
A hand held hedge shear ain't no cost,
Between the sidewalk and the road belongs to the city. People still mows it
Nice 😊❤
Nice guy.
I want you to come here❤
7 Orchard St
Yes it in violation of ADA where it interfears with wheel chair bound persons and persons with walkers and crutches
We got it pushed back
No.
Graduation party ? What sort of " role model are they?
Any bright us not going to spell out to get the difficulties some folk would have,
🛑 Buy SAFETY VEST for road work.
Boo hoo! 😨😨😨
i not sure if your a lawn guy but the company i have right now is terrible i have one tree in my back yard and they hit it so i'm trying to get it to rest cause if i try and transplant it now it will dieso now i have some pegs in the ground to keep it strait and when they come to mow they always leave a mess 90'precent of the time they don't weed wack the yard they say they don't get close to the vinyl fences now i see their point on a lot of things but to me if your paid to mow weed wack and blow off the driveway and back deck then do what your paid to do not a half ass job recently the grass itsself has waves in it just like a tide rolling in the ocean and so now i go outside and watch them cut my grass so i get them right then to fix the problem ive clock them one day from the time they started until the time they left was exactly 7 mins so i finally got a guy at the office i said look i pay you for a job i don't want to do but i will do it so i have no problem firing your company on the spot unless you start fixing the issues with in your company so i know it takes me 30 mins to push mow my entire yard your doing it with a rider mower so it should take about 10 minthen weed wacking should take about the same and then blowing off the front and back no more than 5 min so for one guy it should take 25 mins two guys should have it done in 15 min max but not in 7 unless you are doing a piss poor job lawn companies irrate me because they get away with doing shitty work and i won't let them touch my hedges at all
Sounds petty to me
Did you bury the bat
Sorry, but after seeing them trimmed they should have been removed. They look terrible for one. Second anyone that would trip or bush against the sharp branches could be inured and then an unnecessary lawsuit. Third they will always need trimming back. The sign should never have been a problem, ridiculous the city should go f - - - itself. What state is this? The rest of the work was great. You left a Mark all right.
They will look great when they grow out..
You can purchase an inexpensive pair of hedge clippers at your local hardware store.
You don't need electric ones but the manual are easier if you trim your bushes on a regular basis.
The hedge was blocking the sidewalk, perhaps a warning then a fine.
For the sign, the village really needs to get over those unless they are there for an extended period of time.
Just imagine how much this increased her carbon footprint. 👣 The 2 stroke gas and oily emissions. ⛽️☁️ Reduced filtering of ground level pollution with so much less bush to offset her human activities. This is a perfect example of the need for a universal carbon footprint tax! 💲 She's not being held accountable. 😡
Hahahahaha! 😂😂😂😂
I think it was great that the owner jumped in and helped. You could tell she appreciated your work. Great job.🫠
