    Really interesting topics. I have never heard of the Tasco booklets, this is convenient. The letter of the king, where I missed the answer of the suggestion for a better pic. I support his idea, a king without a crown is no king. I do not know a lot regarding Eva Perron, but I´m learning Spanish and may be the book can help me learning it. Regarding the cosmonauts, sorry but I should not see your videos too often, I was thinking about your last one with the creepy stamps the set from Africa with the roasted cosmonauts....

    Hi Graham. Thank you so much for yet another wonderful and inspiring episode. I went to bed early last night and watched your episode on Nepal and this latest Show & Tell on my phone. It triggered a stream of consciousness which lasted for 2 hours wondering what responses I might have given. (It was a wonderful experience connecting joyful memories of different stamps, themes, specialities while connecting with history, art, cinema and theatre). It started with lockdown memories of putting together a collection of machins and looking at them under ultra violet light (another world) to researching online the paintings on which well loved engraved stamps were based. It combined with magical moments from historical movies (how about an episode on Napoleon? ) and made me think about how you might do an episode on theatre (you could start off in an amphitheatre in ancient Greece and then see you get up on stage in a Victorian theatre as the curtains roll back and you walk through the door of a Globe theatre stamp and go back in time to watch Puck & Bottom, Romeo & Juliet and Henry V on eve of Agincourt magically appear on stage.
    It strikes me that your films are more than just mini documentaries or reportage but works of art in themselves. I often relate the magical dive into the Singapore stamp in #philately S4E3 with the moment in the Purple Rose of Cairo movie where you are transported into the screen and into another world. It may be that the techniques you use would be of interest to budding film makers and the drama you create in your shorts would be of interest to film buffs. I find your creations have the same effect on me as some contemporary art exhibitions - they open up my mind to looking at things in another way. This can be liberating and enthralling. I certainly think art historians and gallery goers would be drawn in to the stories and interested to know about the reproductions of these paintings on little bits of paper that must have shaped the thoughts of those who have stuck them on envelopes or gazed at them in their collections. Is there any way of creating awareness for your wonderful conceptions to this wider public?

    • @ExploringStamps
      @ExploringStamps  8 месяцев назад

      😊 Thank you so much for the kind words! Napoleon, cinema, and walking through the door of the Globe theatre to see classics on stage...these are all totally aligned my style and hopes I had for the channel. Weaving through the historical, geographical, and artistic elements that stamps bring us while keeping the content engaging and exciting is something that I have tried to master through the years, thankfully the stamps do much of the hard work themselves! It means a lot to know that this content has connected with the viewers in some way, even though my channel is small and has had very few views. Thank you 😊😊

    Great episode again Graham. I already said it a few times, thank you so much for sharing this content to the collecters society. And Luke what a nice story you told about the card you sent to the royal palace. Also our king in Holland doesn't use his crown on stamps. i might say he never uses the crown in whatever occassion. But you are totally right with it. Kings are kings and it is strange to see them as regular old men on a stamp. Never thought about it, but you have a point there. Bu i must say that I adore stamps of portaits of royal family and presidents with all their color varity.
    And the story of Daan was also interesting to me, because I also collect dutch stamps. Never knew there where only 5 facilities in the netherlands to stamp the stamps. @Daan or Graham, if you read this comment, do you know where to find any nice literature or RUclips canals about dutch Philately? it's hard to find. Since a very short period now I started het Postcollectief, till now I'm the only member of this collective. in fact it's just a fun experience for myself to reinvent this great hobby for me and learn more about it!

    Great episode. I enjoyed the enthusiasm of the Pakistani collector. And Dutch grieving stamps- who knew?? Interesting stuff.

    Thank you for sharing this video. Unfortunately, it seems stamp collecting is not as popular as it once was. I can remember attending a stamp expo at the LA convention when I was in 7th grade back in 1981 and it was wall to wall with people. From the look of the video, you can literally count the number of attendees with 1 hand. I just recently looked at my collection again after 35 years and it brings back a lot of pleasant memories. I hope to spend more time enhancing my collection as well as getting rid of some duplicates. While researching on the web, I find that FDC has lost a tremendous amount of value. I can remember they were quite expensive back then for a kid to explore but now since they're so cheap, I'm looking to add more to my collection. I'm wondering if you know of any stamp clubs in southern California that I can join to share the experience of stamp collecting. Thanks.

      😊 Thank you for watching. Yes sadly the good ole days are behind us, the stamp collecting experience has been changing since the 80s and we now see a lot of activity online instead. For stamp clubs in California, check out the APS listing of clubs and see if any are near you: stamps.org/collect/clubs

      @@ExploringStamps Thank you for the reply, Graham. I will definitely contact a few clubs in OC, CA just to rekindle my passion for stamps. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Steve.

    Quite an excellent quality of Cosmonaut memorabilia. Really impressive. Looks like an excellent time for everyone. I think it would be fun to buy from a dealer at a show like this and to discuss the stamp with someone who really knows their merchandise. I'm still assembling my "want list", there's so many ways to go with collecting and my first attempts were unrealistically wide. Cheers!

    Better and cheaper idea: design your homes and infrastructure to be moveable or replaceable.
    Having the volcano cover your house every 500 years is not a big deal when your doing to replace it every 100 years, anyway.
