Hey gamers, most of this was recorded before the Iron Man update. I’ve seen people say that the jetpack and cars were removed from ranked in that update. I have seen zero evidence of this online. Like I said at the end, I only play one ranked match a day now. So if they are removed, I haven't noticed. Basically, if you wanna do the jetpack combo now… suck to be you!!
Ranked is so scuffed. You’ll just get matches that STILL have bots AND people who play in the most insufferable way possible in Fortnite lmfao. Not worth my time

Same I hit my peak rank elite this season but now without mobility I'm probably screwed can't use cars to get around or for portable cover and can't uses a jetpack to go up hill
I dont like teaming But... There was one ranked game where I was getting driving based challenges done and instead of fighting I would just honk and drive to where ever the next challenge was. This somehow ended with four separate random players deciding to turn solo ranked into protect the president. Somehow i got to second place... By roleplaying as cap driver. Felt like the old tf2 days where one person would start a lobby takeover with the conga taunt.

Imo teaming and teaming to get kills are whole completely things like being friendly for a little and driving around is waaay diff then purposely getting into a match with someone else and hunting down the lobby as a duo (this has happened to me at least 5 times although it was in wrecked )
Funny enough; I've met these two before in a match around the beginning of this season. Guess what? They teamed up in that match as well. Driving around in car, while the other would shoot.
On one hand if you like how game plays but hate how it track your skill with a rank it's nice to have a mode that quantifies your skill level. But on the other hand, the ranked system usually doesn't work like it should.
If you're interested in competitive rewards, the current Day of Doom LTM gives you an easy loophole to earning the Exotic Prized Llama backbling. You can easily get 10 kills every match along with a Victory Royale multiple times per afternoon. It doesn't work if you're dead when you get the Victory Royale. Good luck.
The other thing to note: Majority of POI that have avenger/doom/stark chests are guarantees to be swarming with many other players trying to snatch em as well. And if you're playing ranked mode, oh all the more reason you'll wind up landing right as 3 others did right by said chests.

This is my first season ever hitting unreal bc i REALLY wanted the unreal doombrella (purple + exclusive + marvel = i had to have it) only problem is im buns at the game Thankfully the iron man mythics were so metaphorically broken that the hands trivialized fights and LITERALLY broken that you could get infinite height and not die i was able to make my way to unreal NEVER AGAIN The iron man items have been nerfed and removed from ranked so i BARELY slid in in time bc without them i would have had NO shot In champion losing 5% for anything less than a top 3 placement no matter what and 6% for a 4 elim win was absolutely SOUL SNATCHING idk how i did it, broken unethical items thats how Either way hope you make it, and my apologies if you werent able to make it before the iron man stuff was removed bc im pretty sure they took the jetpack too and that was a big part of your strategy-
Idk if this was recorded before the recent Jetpack Nerf. But Jetpack Zooming is really nerfed now which sucks, you can still do bunny hops consistently but boosting in the air lasts for like 5 seconds

I hate playing ranked because i come to the game to have fun but one of the things you get from the quests this season is a spray for hope the most beautiful skin in fortnite so now i have tp do it

First i kept winning and again and again then when was was 51% the next day i lost 4% then i was like okay i can get them back then i lost 4% again then again then i was 37% this morning and did a match, killed an elite player but nearly killed others(got 3rd partied) and only got 2% then the next damn match i did 2 kills (they were diamond) and nearly killed 2 guys and also nearly didn't take any damage yet i lost 6%

not sure how long this video took to make, but as of now cars and all avengers items beside the auto turret and shield have been removed from ranked which, in my opinion, makes it a lot more fun of an experience
In Ranked I believe there’s Bots up through at least Platinum, then after that they are gone. In the early Ranks there may be significantly more Bots per match as the Ranked ZB player count is typically fairly low in comparison to Ranked Builds ZB rarely has more players on average especially when you add all the modes together, Build modes typically double ZB in totals. Meaning add ZB Battle Royale Pubs, ZB Ranked, ZB Reload & ZB Ranked Reload. ZB Battle Royale Pubs typically has the most players of the 4 modes but Battle Royale builds is sometimes higher or not far behind. The reason Battle Royale Build mode has less at times is because a significant amount of the Builds player base is playing Ranked Modes like Ranked Battle Royale & Reload & Ranked Reload. What I find is that majority of ZB players are playing Casual/Pubs, while as a larger number of Build mode players are playing Ranked/Competitive Modes. When you add the totals of all 4 modes in ZB vs Build, Build modes have a greater overall total. Which makes sense, the skill level in Build modes on average is higher, the game was designed & made around the unique Build mechanics. Build players typically have been playing since early days Chapter 1 & 2, which means they’ve spent years practicing/developing their Build/Edit & overall games skills. I feel most ZB players fall into a few different categories, lower skill players, either due to being New to the game or Younger little kids, then there’s the Older new players whom don’t want to take the time to learn Builds, it’s to complicated to learn Building & Editing or are very Casual lower skill players just trying to have some fun. The map & the game itself is not made for ZB, so it’s quite common that high skill Build players will play ZB just to grief in Pubs because it’s typically Free Kills & EZ Wins when they can hop into a game mode & essentially Beam players who are for the most part defenseless as they can’t Build to defend themselves. So someone whom has seasoned Mechanics & good Game sense with decent Aim can go wreck in Pubs. The AI Bots don’t help either, if anything they facilitate Bad Combat Habits & give lower skill players a False sense of confidence. They think oh I got a 15 kill Win.. & 12 or more of their Elims were Bots. This applies to both ZB & Build. The way you get better is by fighting higher skill players, which sucks because 9 times out of 10 you’re going to get shit on & lose the fight. The more you play against them & learn, the more your skills will improve, then eventually you’ll be closer to a 50% 5 of 10 against skilled players & there’s still room for improvement. Many of the OG’s had no choice, we were forced to get shit on as everyone’s skills progressed throughout the early chapters. You either took the time to practice & learn or you were just hard stuck. In my opinion ZB & AI Bots should be strictly for New players, it’s a way to learn the basics of the game in a lower stress casual environment with others of similar skill. Once your Career Account Lvl reaches 350-400 then you are no longer eligible for that matchmaking.. by then you should have a decent understanding of the game & how to play. After you’ve reached that threshold, Bots are no longer filling matches & you’re playing only real players.
I am not even lying when I say that I went into ranked zero build to see that there was 9 other people in the damn lobby. And that’s how I got my first ranked win.
There’s so many teamers in Ranked Solos ZB…unfortunately Epic could care less. I’ve sent video footage to them and they’ve closed my reports with out any action being taken against the cheaters.
I strongly believe that ranked no matter zero build or build should be used to purely fight as many players as possible no one should care about their rank if they wanna keep their sanity

back/side dashing while rotating in a 360 will allow you to fight multiple players at once. also noticed that when using this strat, if you dont take consecutive damage to your cap shield while blocking; it wont trigger the flinch animation. requires a lot of spamming the boost inbetween, like how builds players peek in box fights. in pubs you can block cars and send them flying back. make sure to have some movement to prevent fall damage
Ooof, Big feels. I reached Diamond, and I have to play the entire match like its MGS games in some "Dante must die" mode. Even being chased over half of the map like I killed the players family or something x'D (Also wooot, DJ Bop usage, waa)
As a player who hovers just below Unreal rank while playing solo I want to say your video highlights every single complaint I have with the system. If you don't get 1-2 easy low-loot elims off drop then you barely gain anything for placing, BUT placement isn't worth anything until top 10 so fighting is super risky for maybe 1-2% gain. Most streamers play squads since the matchmaking is much looser and its easier to gang up on a single enemy. If you play solo the game is camp camp camp.
I'm about to cry. I've been hard stuck on Diamond 3 for days since they removed the jetpack, all cars, and the iron man items. What are you doing now. What is your strategy now?

Small trick i learnd for anyone wanting to try and get to unreal the rat way is to get 1-2 kills and just camp at mount Olympus at one of the rooms that has only 1 entrance or grim gate in the ceiling near the avengers chest spawn and try to get to top 10. Going to those spots allows you to get the drop on anyone that comes near those locations and as long as you have impulses or a jetpack, you can get away hopefully. Did all this and i got around 6-7% each time (if in elite or champ but points can very) but if you do kinda go off in some matches you'll get more obviously. Also wanted to at 2 slight problems with hiding at grim gate 1: the raft is near there and that scan medallion is nightmare fuel for hiding there and 2: the glitch where you can shoot peoples feet through the floor still exists so be careful with that.
I also agree with it. Ranked sucks. People camp, you get jump scared, people only play the op things, things that dont need good aim or something. Hate it. I play since like 3 season only pubs and only ranked for the rewards.
I think what stopped me from even bothering with ranked was the fact you don’t actually get ranked skin rewards, like what’s the point of grinding when you get nothing yk. Farthest I think I got was platinum 2- diamond 3, they should have kept arena mode.
The strategy is good, but you need to drop the war machine arsenal for a gatekeeper/sovereign. If you're near cover and against an agro player, you can alternate using shotgun + cover and holding shield + turret + jet. Obviously don't engage in mid/long range fights. Don't throw the shield beyond close range unless you have cover. the most important piece of the strategy is to dash around while shielding so it's harder to get hit
When you think ranked is bad, today I played a pubs solos match as it it were a tournamemt ☠️ I somehow got top 3 and then got Gatekeeper'd into oblivion because this shotgun is fucking stupid
I finally got out of diamond and now Elite two days ago. In bronze to diamond 1 you can make many mistake and start thinking what you did wrong. You free to rush into any battle and there not a lot consequences. In diamond 2 and above that where you need to be choosing on what battle you should take or should not take. Be in cover as much you can while trying damage other players. Recommend carring bubble shield, this item won me a lot of battles in diamond 2 and 3.
I was so disappointed to find out there aren't even cars in ranked. They might as well just have the base weapons and take all the Marvel stuff out atp
I have a love hate relationship with ranked. Each season I do better either getting to a higher level or just getting there faster….at least until champion. Even winning a game there is usually 10-12% for me and the wins are just few and far between. I usually go up to 40ish percent then full tilt and lose down to 10 or so. I felt like Ranked ZB was kinda fun during the OG season. I made it to Elite and was very close to getting Champion, but didn’t have enough time honestly. Haven’t touched ranked since then
I hate how much Epic Games has promoted cowardice and discouraged skill for the past few years. Stupidly broken items and mechanics and rewarding players for hiding has made this game miserable. Every game I have played post Chapter 2, ranked or casual, has been filled with rank ten billion ten-year-olds sitting in bushes scrolling TikTok while they wait for some guy to shoot with their Frenzy Auto Shotgun/run over with their tank/use some other unholy abomination because it is objectively more effective and more rewarding than doing anything else. Fortnite Chapter 1 was some of the most fun I've had in video games, and modern Fortnite is some of the most pain and suffering I've had in video games. Also I love Meow Skulls
If there were no free Rewards, I would not be playing Ranked at all. Having a Ranked Zero Build mode completely destroys the idea of Zero Build in the first place. This is how it works: People who have actual experience at the game / are veterans play Build, while casuals and easy-going players play Zero Build. Easy. That would be like if Smash Bros. tried to incorporate Items into an online competitive mode and call it "Grabby Happy".

I have been seeing a lot of teamers this season as well. The other day in a solo match I was like 3rd place or something and got killed by two kids teaming, when I reported them, they didn't get banned or anything.
We are like the same guy, lol. I am currently Diamond III at about 68%. I've gotten to 78%....then steadily lose points for match after match. I have not employed your strategy though. I have tried camping to make sure I get top 10 (if possible) and steal a free kill or two here and there. But I'm like you....I'm a decent player. One that gets sh*t on by great players....but for the most part have decent pub games 5-7 kills most games and now and then go off for like 13 or 14 (I think 19 is my highest). But in Ranked....I just lose every gunfight to better players....or get 3rd partied repeatedly. I'm at the point now where I am about to give up. I may try your strategy, out of curiosity and see how it goes. Great video!
As a build player even though ranked is harder when you get into a build fight, zero build players in ranked normally have better movement an have better mechanics because of the lack of cover in most endgame circles since Fortnite is really design of of the fact you can build your own cover.
I've been playing this game almost a year now and this season I started to play some ranked ZB here and there. I am currently just got into champions; I feel like I am breezing through it. Honestly, I don't think I am not that sweaty, maybe I'm just being modest idk, but hopefully I can get into unreal before the season is over.
Alright I know no one asked but last season i grinded hard no camping in zero build ranked I consider myself pretty good and all but like.. don't play ranked zero build not because it's hard but everyone cheats "mostly" (at least in my experience) everyone soft aimed and third partyed with the nirto fits and my recommendation.. just don't it's not worth it (unless you want a flex back bling) and after all that suffering I got champion rank after all that just for.. a cool style for the biker skin I don't even wear
It’s either bad luck or just really good aim maybe not cheaters I have hit unreal this season like second season and never found a cheater same with builds but I think cheaters are less common but I friended to unreal in both with no cheaters so probably just really bad luck
As a man who been doing rank build mode, maybe this could work well in that. Then again I would feel bad and stuck in a tedious stance but it could help me a bit at times. Been wanting to try unreal for a while and I feel I could possible do it this season. (Maybe easier in no build as so many folks do build so much better than me) Even if I don’t use this method, knowing how the ranking system works does help me now knowing that I can avoid getting hit more and focus on end game rather then hunting actual kills. Really nice video honestly. I learned a lot from this❤❤❤ Edit: for those wondering I am diamond 2 atm, and knowing this man here, I should restrict myself to a few matches a day as well instead of grinding. I feel the pain of jumping in and loosing a chunk and wasting time on waiting for lobbies to start)
I never really enjoyed Ranked ZB past silver/gold level. Ranked Reload is more fun because the map and zone movement is so small that you're forced to fight aggressive. But I feel like the unranked SBMM does better matchmaking for me. My unranked lobbies are hard enough, don't really feel the need to play ranked.

good video. I remember in Ch4 S3 me and my friend GRINDED zb ranked, and in the end we only got to elite. We gave up cuz we won a game with 10+ kills and went up 7% lol they prolly improved the ranking up system at this point, but the game isnt rly fun so its not worth
There are definitely flaws with ranked, but if you can't rank up, it IS a skill issue, sadly. Blaming the system is cope...I'm bad at the game, too. I usually reach diamond level, hit elite once... The reality is, skill in zero build comes down to reaction time, reflexes and accurate aim. It usually boils down to being able to consistently win insanely fast-paced shotgun fights. Skilled players rank up quickly by winning more fights and using lots of mobility items to compliment their accuracy and reflexes. You can train this to a degree by putting 100s of hours into playing the pit, if you have patience... But a lot of it is genetics, brain processing speed and age too.
the thing with there being more build players in higher ranks is because the game is made around build more and is widely unbalanced in zero build season after season, both the items dont work well in zb and neither does the map structure
Zero Build is going to be 100x harder than build mode because you can't spawn cover whenever and where ever you need it. For example when you have the final circle over an open area like a lake or a field. There is nothing to hide behind and so you will always find it much more difficult to survive at any given moment on zero build than you will ever in regular build mode. That being said, you can't be to upset about rank. Because it is 100% a skill issue. Considering that every single player is using and has access to the same resources you do, their is no foul play. Your own strategy alone is what cripples you, as you said it yourself you are basically relying on getting lucky 90% of the time. The only actual input you have is finding the right weapons and flying around with the jetpack. Versus other players who are genuinly skillful at the game and don't rely on sheer luck to get by. It only makes since you hit a wall that you can't pass through when you can't rely on your own skill to move up. Fancy tricks and cheap gimmicks will only get you so far in any competitive field. So fix your title, its not Ranked Zero Build that sucks, its just you. lol Cool video overall though.
Build mode is harder and takes more school looks at someone like Peter bot to build cash cup lobbies what their doing is harder than just aiming and not building if you play zero build you might as well play apex legends
@@Spiderjepo No, its not more difficult, because no matter what at the end of the day you still have to worry about getting shot by your opponent. Only difference is build mode has the extra fluff of them editing while avoiding being shot. But that editing is also what keeps them safer than a zero build player. In zero build I can't spawn a whole mansion for protection the moment I get shot at. I have to react and think on my feet with each and every single encounter. In build mode you can literally always just use the same tactic of turtle and wait it out. plus I know for a fact that build players aren't as good because I beat them all the time in ranked and custom matches. So worried about editing, they forget to shoot their gun. And while obviously this all comes down to opinion. Zero builders are just better.

A builder wouldn't know how to handle zero build because they can't protect themselves with 100 layers the moment a bullet pings them. As a zero build player I actually hop into ranked build mode because its a lot easier. Again while you sit there and waste time building, and editing, and piecing...I just got move and aim and youll be dead before you can even pull your weapon back out. Just because you are doing a lot more doesn't mean you are doing anything useful. At the end of the day you still have to shoot me and I still have to shoot you. No amount of wall building is going to change the fact you still need to poke your head in for a shot. That's usually when and where I win that fight. So busy building you forget to just shoot your dang gun. Extra fluff doesn't mean better skills. Its just extra fluff, a bit more safety to help you secure a kill... because you need it. I dont need to box you in, corner you, piece nothin. Etc etc. its just you me and my boom stick ready to turn your ass into a mess of pixels. But now that I think about it, thats probably why you keep referring to games like Apex or CoD where you cant build walls to protect yourself. You're probably just terrible in any situation that doesn't involve hiding behind a bunch of walls.

I played build mode ranked all the time because it's actually easier in my opinion. Because most of you in build can't aim or don't know how to shoot because all you do is build more than you actually fire your gun. Its probably a skill issue. Usually because without the ability to spawn cover you couldn't handle just getting across the street let alone the entire map without having a panic attack lol. Iirc this is also why people quit chasing ranks in rocket racing too. The rubberbanding in trying to build up that % can be insufferable if you try to do it legit. Imo ranked zero build really, REALLY punishes you for having a reaction speed+skill gap. You cant just thow up a wall in front of you to cut off a disadvantageous encounter and strategize. If someone jumps you and has cracked shotgun aim you're usually cooked.

On one hand if you like how game plays but hate how it track your skill with a rank it's nice to have a mode that quantifies your skill level. But on the other hand, the ranked system usually doesn't work like it should.

If you're interested in competitive rewards, the current Day of Doom LTM gives you an easy loophole to earning the Exotic Prized Llama backbling. You can easily get 10 kills every match along with a Victory Royale multiple times per afternoon. It doesn't work if you're dead when you get the Victory Royale. Good luck.

The other thing to note: Majority of POI that have avenger/doom/stark chests are guarantees to be swarming with many other players trying to snatch em as well. And if you're playing ranked mode, oh all the more reason you'll wind up landing right as 3 others did right by said chests.

First i kept winning and again and again then when was was 51% the next day i lost 4% then i was like okay i can get them back then i lost 4% again then again then i was 37% this morning and did a match, killed an elite player but nearly killed others(got 3rd partied) and only got 2% then the next damn match i did 2 kills (they were diamond) and nearly killed 2 guys and also nearly didn't take any damage yet i lost 6%

In Ranked I believe there’s Bots up through at least Platinum, then after that they are gone. In the early Ranks there may be significantly more Bots per match as the Ranked ZB player count is typically fairly low in comparison to Ranked Builds
ZB rarely has more players on average especially when you add all the modes together, Build modes typically double ZB in totals. Meaning add ZB Battle Royale Pubs, ZB Ranked, ZB Reload & ZB Ranked Reload. ZB Battle Royale Pubs typically has the most players of the 4 modes but Battle Royale builds is sometimes higher or not far behind. The reason Battle Royale Build mode has less at times is because a significant amount of the Builds player base is playing Ranked Modes like Ranked Battle Royale & Reload & Ranked Reload. What I find is that majority of ZB players are playing Casual/Pubs, while as a larger number of Build mode players are playing Ranked/Competitive Modes. When you add the totals of all 4 modes in ZB vs Build, Build modes have a greater overall total. Which makes sense, the skill level in Build modes on average is higher, the game was designed & made around the unique Build mechanics. Build players typically have been playing since early days Chapter 1 & 2, which means they’ve spent years practicing/developing their Build/Edit & overall games skills. I feel most ZB players fall into a few different categories, lower skill players, either due to being New to the game or Younger little kids, then there’s the Older new players whom don’t want to take the time to learn Builds, it’s to complicated to learn Building & Editing or are very Casual lower skill players just trying to have some fun. The map & the game itself is not made for ZB, so it’s quite common that high skill Build players will play ZB just to grief in Pubs because it’s typically Free Kills & EZ Wins when they can hop into a game mode & essentially Beam players who are for the most part defenseless as they can’t Build to defend themselves. So someone whom has seasoned Mechanics & good Game sense with decent Aim can go wreck in Pubs. The AI Bots don’t help either, if anything they facilitate Bad Combat Habits & give lower skill players a False sense of confidence. They think oh I got a 15 kill Win.. & 12 or more of their Elims were Bots. This applies to both ZB & Build. The way you get better is by fighting higher skill players, which sucks because 9 times out of 10 you’re going to get shit on & lose the fight. The more you play against them & learn, the more your skills will improve, then eventually you’ll be closer to a 50% 5 of 10 against skilled players & there’s still room for improvement. Many of the OG’s had no choice, we were forced to get shit on as everyone’s skills progressed throughout the early chapters. You either took the time to practice & learn or you were just hard stuck.
In my opinion ZB & AI Bots should be strictly for New players, it’s a way to learn the basics of the game in a lower stress casual environment with others of similar skill. Once your Career Account Lvl reaches 350-400 then you are no longer eligible for that matchmaking.. by then you should have a decent understanding of the game & how to play. After you’ve reached that threshold, Bots are no longer filling matches & you’re playing only real players.

I am not even lying when I say that I went into ranked zero build to see that there was 9 other people in the damn lobby. And that’s how I got my first ranked win.
There’s so many teamers in Ranked Solos ZB…unfortunately Epic could care less. I’ve sent video footage to them and they’ve closed my reports with out any action being taken against the cheaters.
I strongly believe that ranked no matter zero build or build should be used to purely fight as many players as possible no one should care about their rank if they wanna keep their sanity

also noticed that when using this strat, if you dont take consecutive damage to your cap shield while blocking; it wont trigger the flinch animation. requires a lot of spamming the boost inbetween, like how builds players peek in box fights.
in pubs you can block cars and send them flying back. make sure to have some movement to prevent fall damage

As a player who hovers just below Unreal rank while playing solo I want to say your video highlights every single complaint I have with the system. If you don't get 1-2 easy low-loot elims off drop then you barely gain anything for placing, BUT placement isn't worth anything until top 10 so fighting is super risky for maybe 1-2% gain. Most streamers play squads since the matchmaking is much looser and its easier to gang up on a single enemy. If you play solo the game is camp camp camp.

Small trick i learnd for anyone wanting to try and get to unreal the rat way is to get 1-2 kills and just camp at mount Olympus at one of the rooms that has only 1 entrance or grim gate in the ceiling near the avengers chest spawn and try to get to top 10. Going to those spots allows you to get the drop on anyone that comes near those locations and as long as you have impulses or a jetpack, you can get away hopefully. Did all this and i got around 6-7% each time (if in elite or champ but points can very) but if you do kinda go off in some matches you'll get more obviously.
Also wanted to at 2 slight problems with hiding at grim gate 1: the raft is near there and that scan medallion is nightmare fuel for hiding there and 2: the glitch where you can shoot peoples feet through the floor still exists so be careful with that.

I think what stopped me from even bothering with ranked was the fact you don’t actually get ranked skin rewards, like what’s the point of grinding when you get nothing yk. Farthest I think I got was platinum 2- diamond 3, they should have kept arena mode.
The strategy is good, but you need to drop the war machine arsenal for a gatekeeper/sovereign.
If you're near cover and against an agro player, you can alternate using shotgun + cover and holding shield + turret + jet. Obviously don't engage in mid/long range fights.
Don't throw the shield beyond close range unless you have cover.
the most important piece of the strategy is to dash around while shielding so it's harder to get hit
When you think ranked is bad, today I played a pubs solos match as it it were a tournamemt ☠️ I somehow got top 3 and then got Gatekeeper'd into oblivion because this shotgun is fucking stupid
I finally got out of diamond and now Elite two days ago. In bronze to diamond 1 you can make many mistake and start thinking what you did wrong. You free to rush into any battle and there not a lot consequences. In diamond 2 and above that where you need to be choosing on what battle you should take or should not take. Be in cover as much you can while trying damage other players. Recommend carring bubble shield, this item won me a lot of battles in diamond 2 and 3.

I have a love hate relationship with ranked. Each season I do better either getting to a higher level or just getting there faster….at least until champion. Even winning a game there is usually 10-12% for me and the wins are just few and far between. I usually go up to 40ish percent then full tilt and lose down to 10 or so. I felt like Ranked ZB was kinda fun during the OG season. I made it to Elite and was very close to getting Champion, but didn’t have enough time honestly. Haven’t touched ranked since then
I hate how much Epic Games has promoted cowardice and discouraged skill for the past few years. Stupidly broken items and mechanics and rewarding players for hiding has made this game miserable. Every game I have played post Chapter 2, ranked or casual, has been filled with rank ten billion ten-year-olds sitting in bushes scrolling TikTok while they wait for some guy to shoot with their Frenzy Auto Shotgun/run over with their tank/use some other unholy abomination because it is objectively more effective and more rewarding than doing anything else. Fortnite Chapter 1 was some of the most fun I've had in video games, and modern Fortnite is some of the most pain and suffering I've had in video games.

If there were no free Rewards, I would not be playing Ranked at all. Having a Ranked Zero Build mode completely destroys the idea of Zero Build in the first place. This is how it works: People who have actual experience at the game / are veterans play Build, while casuals and easy-going players play Zero Build. Easy. That would be like if Smash Bros. tried to incorporate Items into an online competitive mode and call it "Grabby Happy".
Tabor hill is good at the game, but still plays zero build. Its not because hes unskilled, its because he prefers it.

I have been seeing a lot of teamers this season as well. The other day in a solo match I was like 3rd place or something and got killed by two kids teaming, when I reported them, they didn't get banned or anything.

We are like the same guy, lol. I am currently Diamond III at about 68%. I've gotten to 78%....then steadily lose points for match after match. I have not employed your strategy though. I have tried camping to make sure I get top 10 (if possible) and steal a free kill or two here and there. But I'm like you....I'm a decent player. One that gets sh*t on by great players....but for the most part have decent pub games 5-7 kills most games and now and then go off for like 13 or 14 (I think 19 is my highest). But in Ranked....I just lose every gunfight to better players....or get 3rd partied repeatedly. I'm at the point now where I am about to give up. I may try your strategy, out of curiosity and see how it goes. Great video!
As a build player even though ranked is harder when you get into a build fight, zero build players in ranked normally have better movement an have better mechanics because of the lack of cover in most endgame circles since Fortnite is really design of of the fact you can build your own cover.

I've been playing this game almost a year now and this season I started to play some ranked ZB here and there. I am currently just got into champions; I feel like I am breezing through it. Honestly, I don't think I am not that sweaty, maybe I'm just being modest idk, but hopefully I can get into unreal before the season is over.
Alright I know no one asked but last season i grinded hard no camping in zero build ranked I consider myself pretty good and all but like.. don't play ranked zero build not because it's hard but everyone cheats "mostly" (at least in my experience) everyone soft aimed and third partyed with the nirto fits and my recommendation.. just don't it's not worth it (unless you want a flex back bling) and after all that suffering I got champion rank after all that just for.. a cool style for the biker skin I don't even wear

As a man who been doing rank build mode, maybe this could work well in that. Then again I would feel bad and stuck in a tedious stance but it could help me a bit at times.
Been wanting to try unreal for a while and I feel I could possible do it this season. (Maybe easier in no build as so many folks do build so much better than me)
Even if I don’t use this method, knowing how the ranking system works does help me now knowing that I can avoid getting hit more and focus on end game rather then hunting actual kills.

I never really enjoyed Ranked ZB past silver/gold level. Ranked Reload is more fun because the map and zone movement is so small that you're forced to fight aggressive. But I feel like the unranked SBMM does better matchmaking for me. My unranked lobbies are hard enough, don't really feel the need to play ranked.

There are definitely flaws with ranked, but if you can't rank up, it IS a skill issue, sadly. Blaming the system is cope...I'm bad at the game, too. I usually reach diamond level, hit elite once...
The reality is, skill in zero build comes down to reaction time, reflexes and accurate aim. It usually boils down to being able to consistently win insanely fast-paced shotgun fights. Skilled players rank up quickly by winning more fights and using lots of mobility items to compliment their accuracy and reflexes.
You can train this to a degree by putting 100s of hours into playing the pit, if you have patience... But a lot of it is genetics, brain processing speed and age too.

Zero Build is going to be 100x harder than build mode because you can't spawn cover whenever and where ever you need it. For example when you have the final circle over an open area like a lake or a field. There is nothing to hide behind and so you will always find it much more difficult to survive at any given moment on zero build than you will ever in regular build mode.
That being said, you can't be to upset about rank. Because it is 100% a skill issue. Considering that every single player is using and has access to the same resources you do, their is no foul play. Your own strategy alone is what cripples you, as you said it yourself you are basically relying on getting lucky 90% of the time. The only actual input you have is finding the right weapons and flying around with the jetpack.
Versus other players who are genuinly skillful at the game and don't rely on sheer luck to get by. It only makes since you hit a wall that you can't pass through when you can't rely on your own skill to move up. Fancy tricks and cheap gimmicks will only get you so far in any competitive field.
So fix your title, its not Ranked Zero Build that sucks, its just you. lol Cool video overall though.

@@Spiderjepo No, its not more difficult, because no matter what at the end of the day you still have to worry about getting shot by your opponent. Only difference is build mode has the extra fluff of them editing while avoiding being shot. But that editing is also what keeps them safer than a zero build player.
In zero build I can't spawn a whole mansion for protection the moment I get shot at. I have to react and think on my feet with each and every single encounter.
In build mode you can literally always just use the same tactic of turtle and wait it out.
plus I know for a fact that build players aren't as good because I beat them all the time in ranked and custom matches. So worried about editing, they forget to shoot their gun.
And while obviously this all comes down to opinion. Zero builders are just better.

Again while you sit there and waste time building, and editing, and piecing...I just got move and aim and youll be dead before you can even pull your weapon back out. Just because you are doing a lot more doesn't mean you are doing anything useful. At the end of the day you still have to shoot me and I still have to shoot you. No amount of wall building is going to change the fact you still need to poke your head in for a shot. That's usually when and where I win that fight. So busy building you forget to just shoot your dang gun.
Extra fluff doesn't mean better skills. Its just extra fluff, a bit more safety to help you secure a kill... because you need it.
I dont need to box you in, corner you, piece nothin. Etc etc. its just you me and my boom stick ready to turn your ass into a mess of pixels.
But now that I think about it, thats probably why you keep referring to games like Apex or CoD where you cant build walls to protect yourself. You're probably just terrible in any situation that doesn't involve hiding behind a bunch of walls.

Imo ranked zero build really, REALLY punishes you for having a reaction speed+skill gap. You cant just thow up a wall in front of you to cut off a disadvantageous encounter and strategize. If someone jumps you and has cracked shotgun aim you're usually cooked.
