Sorry for the rant lol but I really never understood this.
Back Blings never left, just the competitive community doesn't want to waste time picking a back bling. Me and many, many, MANY others wear back blings with skins because that's what they were literally made for.
IMO back blings are doing fine. The only ppl who rly never use them are extremely stinky sweats who love to use the same sweaty girl skins/the superhero skin with the star wand/0 delay pickaxe.
"zero delay" the biggest myth in fortnite. never understood the point to zero delay outfits, sure u probably are loading less resources but the game still has to load *99 other people's* outfits, and there's a high chance other people arent gonna be using 0 delay outfits. realistically the difference it makes is probably not gonna make those "zero delay" trenders play better anyway, because the average human reaction time is 27 ms and most of that optimization to put it below a certain ping is just worthless at some point. 0 delay is just a placebo, and if it helps them.. then keep drinking the sugar
I don’t know if I’m only one within the minority that still uses back blings. (new and old) Back blings are still worth their value if you have a creative mindset with your skin combos/presets. One back bling or I guess bundle that I casually wear on most characters is the Buckled bundle since it’s visually pleasing and fits the vibe or theme of my presets. Capes, wings, swords, or just blocky figures nowadays are practically not worth the attention anymore.
I think a big part is the new engine honestly. With all these new super complex features like Nanite, Ray Tracing, etc, some older stuff falls out of place. Especially backblings that aren't attached to the body, they look odd with accurate shadows and stuff. I played on my dad's PS4 and noticed certain combos didn't bother me as bad.
Ya know, most backblings look a little mid, but I always like how Epic Games releases a couple of super amazing looking ones that seem to just fit with any skin. Backblings like the Assassin Pack from the John Wick bundle, or the Vengeance Pack from Chapter 5 Season 1’s Battle Pass, and even Lizzik’s Backbling from a couple days ago are absolutely fantastic with a good amount of skins.
The bigger discussion to be had here is that “rare” and “exclusive” skins have lost their value. There’s so many skins in the game now that I honestly could not care less if they ever decided to bring back older battle pass skins in the shop. They might be testing the feedback on that with the announcement of future battle pass skins no longer being exclusive to the season outside of super styles. During Fortnite’s infancy, and a year or so afterwards, exclusivity and rare skins meant something. Now it’s just like who cares? Let people get the skins they want
even during the original seasons, ive never understood why exclusivity mattered. this isnt like tf2 or csgo where an items rarity / exclusivity had an effect on the value of an item, for fortnite you cant trade so the only purpose of skin exclusivity is mere vanity and nothibg more :/
@@dialga236literally😭 played from season 6 to chapter 2 season 8, quit, and came back chapter 3 season 2 so i missed out on spiderman. its so useless, theres no trading, and epic literally says buying/trading accounts is against the rules. it makes no sense at all.🤦♂️ just let us buy the skins we want they would make more money that way anyways, i swear theyre allergic to money.

@@GLTCHDGD Completely agree. I'm a casual and I still love making combos, but I RARELY ever put on a backbling for these exact same reasons. Man this is so true. I only run like 5-10 OG backblings. My usual is just the black knight shield cuz it’s clean and it doesn’t get in the way. Tbh this video makes me want to run more of my backblings.
I love you brought this up, this is absolutely amazing as always man your making content no other Fortnite creators are talking about this, I know this isn’t important but it’s so refreshing.
Tbf, some casuals like me got ruined when pets were added, when we pick one to stick with, we never chamge. Just doesnt feel right to roll regular backblings anymore.
i find it sad that people try their hardest to beat a game as fast and efficient as possible. Just enjoy the game and have fun no wonder a lot of people get bored.
I miss the backbling era 😢 justice for good back blings. Also, you forgot to mention the back blings that interacted with your pickaxe when you pulled it out. They were kinda good but people would still rather use nothing 😢😢 and also the ones that counted kills or interacted with the game! Thry were kinda cool!
It’s mainly bc a lot of backblings don’t actually stick into the characters. And some of the characters just look better without them. Like there are some characters with a design on their back that we can’t see bc of using one.
This honestly makes a lot of sense I remember making the cleanest combos that really matched my skin and wrap back in chapter 1 and 2, nowadays I don’t even run a backbling or wrap on my skins because it’s too much effort to find stuff in my locker when I have so much
same lol, i used to have a ton of presets for all kinds of stuff, no i have my favourited skins, pickaxes and gliders set to random, run the same wrap for probably 3 years atp and no backbling
i love backblings and especially the older ones. I think it's important to appreciate all items i collected over the time and you can do so many cool cobinations. to me people who dont use backblings are really boring, i think the players should return to the og days and instead of copying each other. i like to stand out with my combinations and i find it really sad that the people now have no creativity or intrerest to think off a cool looking character.
Maybe it's because I'm an OG player, but I love making full skin combos, customizing everything to work together. I don't follow trends like using superhero skins and particular cosmetics popularized by content creators. For example, I paired my Blue Squire with Geralt's backbling because the two sheathed swords with the crossbow aesthetically and thematically matches Medieval skins like the Blue Squire, Swamp Knight, etc. My combos are meticulous and purposeful. I try to "think outside the set" as a kind of self imposed restriction to fuel my creativity. I noticed that one can often identify OG players because of their backbling. If I see someone in the Launch Island sporting a Black Knight shield or something like that, I might give them a quick Wave (C1S2 Battlepass emote) or Salute (C1S3 BP emote), to give them a quick acknowledge before the match begins, and I sometimes catch their attention and see something like Orange Justice, Ride the Pony, or some other OG emote in return. These days, that's becoming rarer and rarer, as old players tend to drop off as a wave of new players start playing. Most of my in-game friends are fellow Chapter 1 players who haven't played in 2+ years. You'd think it'd be advantageous for Reboot quests with so many eligible friends, but it really doesn't, and I can't blame them.
For me backblings are still pretty cool, and I still wear them on occasion. It’s just that most of the time I just like to focus on playing , and I don’t like things taking extra space on the screen ( which is why I usually use smaller / skinnier skins ) , and most backblings are pretty big or at least somewhat distracting .
I think at first Backblings were kinda needed at the time because the skins were more basic skins compared to now days. Though i don't run a lot of backblings, the only two i stayed loyal to for years was the Wolf pack Katana and the Red Shield
Tbh i use backblings, but most of the time is just the backbling the skin is already including. i do love when they have some kind of interaction with the skin or other cosmetics tho, like the ones were the pickaxe is on it until you equip it (TMNT ones for example)
wow thats honestly really sad.. this might sound a little silly but as someone with all their skin presets taken by skins with unique backbling combos and skin combos, this realization sucks. part of my favorite thing about Fortnite besides the lore and gameplay are all the combos I can make with the skins that I have, and as an OG - there's a lot of them. hopefully we can come back to an era where all that comes back :(
I personally dont use backblings or if i use one i usually look for something small so it doesn’t obstruct my view between the shoulders of the characters or because especially reactive ones tend to make me look at them while i should be watching the environment, thats why most good players use clean looking skins too because you dont want to look at your skins details and just focus on the environment
Wild bc I like making skin combos and was just researching backblings about 2 hours ago. Im hoping sometime in the future that fortnite will have bbs buyable seperate from skins bc theres a lot I would like to use but dont need the skin.
As you kinda mentioned already, I still run Backblings with mostly every skin in my locker because it feels incomplete without it, no matter how obstructive it is. I also still make great combos because I still enjoy being creative in the game I’ve spent so long in. I don’t think I’ll ever stop using them. 💜🙌🏻
I still wear back blings since most skins suffer greatly without one my favorite has to be the assassin pack from the John Wick set it goes with just about anything
I personally love backblings but I miss the time where they weren’t just reskins like I have the Cuddle Bow and the skeleton bow but they are the same thing with a tiny difference. But I really wished that epic would make more Sword backblings cause like those can’t really be reskinned without anyone noticing. This video was great keep up the work!
Skins back then where bulky and cartoony, so back blings matched very well. Nowadays with the sweats, everyone wears the slimmest skins possible, like the superhero sweats, so back blings just look comically large anymore. IMO skins just keep getting smaller, I miss the old simpler days. (I wear Remus the dog with lots of outfits)
I main the galactic disc from the first galaxy phone skin it truly is the most asteticly pleasing one and pairs great with almost every skin in the game.
As someone who started to play in s3 chapter one I never accepted the idea of minimalism when it comes to combining skin and a backpack. For some reason I like bulky backpacks and weird combos. It just makes me feel nostalgic wearing old backpacks, because I remember that back in the days everybody used to wear these free items from battle pass.
I use Back Blings on pretty much every character except a few comic book characters who don’t have backpacks in the source material and look better without them (eg. Spider-Man, I wanna see that back logo). They’re such a staple nowadays but this was the beginning of true customization in Fortnite, and I appreciate them for that.
You forgot to mention another huge kind of backbling. Sword backbling/backblings reactives to their pickaxe. Honestly it's the type that I most use now-a-days cuz it's awesome to see the pickaxe in your back then you grab it, it's just fun and the only cool internaction a backbling can have
0:01 brother says that season 3 introduced backblings and then directly cuts to a clip showing backblings from season 2 (the royale shield and even the in the thumbnail the black knight shield which is also from season 2)
The thing is that during season 2 the backblings were unique to each skin, that is, a part of it... You couldn't equip the black knight shield on another skin
@@EnteiW Look for a gameplay from before season 3, it's not that difficult and you'll see that It is not like that .. Back then it was just banner, skin, glider, pickaxe and emotes
Good video! Keep making interesting content! About wraps, i'm not using them because i don't like bright or boring styles on the weapon, instead, weapon's default look itself is beautiful!
Taiga pfp based, but love the vid it is sad to see the downfall of such things like the locker in general and backblings that and only a very small portion of content creators who still use them youll always catch me rocking the sharky shawl or the new fallguys one just cuz ones cute n cozy the others hilarious.
It’s really disappointing because for the people who played during the 2017-2018 era, they were buying this stuff with real money because it was unique and super cool. Now the kids who play wouldn’t even know which is Item Shop and Battle Pass. Some Battle Pass items now are honestly cooler than the stuff I ripped my money on back in 2018. Kids playing today don’t even know.. 😞
What made me use backblings was OG stretched res. The game felt so fast paced in stretched res, infinite dopamine and I felt I could still do and see with backbling so I used one. Now with how res is now it just feels like clutter cause you only have so much space. Also to me I feel as if I lose speed.
I started playing at the peak of the pandemic and didn't really like backblings for the same reasons you stated. However, Lewis Hamilton's Roscoe backbling reminds me of my late dog. Makes me think my dog is in game with me ❤
They should add a setting that hides your backling. For example, there could be a setting that hides your backling during ads, or it could hide your backling the whole match. The setting could make it so it only hides it from you, and everyone else can see it . Someone could want to run the setting to maybe show off their backling while it's not distracting you or if they want to show off their combo.
I liked when skins were simple and followed a strict template. You could look at a skin and knew it was fortnite. Not to mention, backblings kind of felt necessary with such a simple look to give it that extra bit of personal touch. There used to be times when you'd see a skin combo and knew exactly what fortnite streamer/youtuber it was.
Ive been playing since chapter 1 and my favorite thing has always been making combos. A majority of my time in Fortnite nowadays is spent in fashion show creative maps where the whole focus is to make cool combos
Same thing happened with Toppers for Rocket League. Hardly see anyone use them anymore. Some people are incredibly basic when it comes to cosmetics and would rather go for something that looks "clean"
Who else has never stopped messing with your combos & rocking back blings? I’ve always loved mixing my stuff but I will say I have fallen into the bad habit of only using like 5 now like you said, the Wu Tang backbling is practically on all my all time favorite skins 😂
Thunder's backbling is still my favorite to this day, even if it is really colorful with the neon lights and can easily get sniped, I don't really care. The backbling is still thin and not bulky. I just love and still run it in my locker
Buying a skin without a back bling is like buying air for me, almost every back bling is a cool concept and casuals wearing no back bling is weird and are just following the "popular" option. I love back blings and I love to wear them so it's sad that people are now not wearing them and it turns into a domino effect of Fortnite not making them now. I wish the back bling era comes back.

Agreed I don’t even bother changing my skin it’s to confusing they need to revert everything back to its original state
Back Blings never left, just the competitive community doesn't want to waste time picking a back bling.
Me and many, many, MANY others wear back blings with skins because that's what they were literally made for.
Yup, another game that is completely ruined and soulless cause of 6 year old sweats who don’t stop playing.
IMO back blings are doing fine. The only ppl who rly never use them are extremely stinky sweats who love to use the same sweaty girl skins/the superhero skin with the star wand/0 delay pickaxe.
I just don’t use them because they don’t go well with most of the outfits I wear.
"zero delay" the biggest myth in fortnite.
never understood the point to zero delay outfits, sure u probably are loading less resources but the game still has to load *99 other people's* outfits, and there's a high chance other people arent gonna be using 0 delay outfits.
realistically the difference it makes is probably not gonna make those "zero delay" trenders play better anyway, because the average human reaction time is 27 ms
and most of that optimization to put it below a certain ping is just worthless at some point.
0 delay is just a placebo, and if it helps them.. then keep drinking the sugar
Or I simply don't want a clunky distracting object in my back?
lol fr
@@rixbyte7438 Tbh if you're getting distracted by a freakin' back bling, there's little hope for you anyway.
I usually go for Deadpool (pen and ink), Emoticap with the in love emoji, Raphael's Sai, and Scarlet Strike as the glider
I exclusively use the Yoda one nowadays as I like how he yells every time I do anything
I love when Yoda laughs at me for gaining shields and health. He laughs at me for being bad at the game XD
The only thing I would want back is pets 🐶🐱🦊
Definitely not, they broke the petting functionality and haven't since fixed it so they're not happening :(
@@Zippy_Zolton no the empress back bling returns like once a year
All my presets have a backbling. They make the outfit so much more unique
Same
Ya know, most backblings look a little mid, but I always like how Epic Games releases a couple of super amazing looking ones that seem to just fit with any skin. Backblings like the Assassin Pack from the John Wick bundle, or the Vengeance Pack from Chapter 5 Season 1’s Battle Pass, and even Lizzik’s Backbling from a couple days ago are absolutely fantastic with a good amount of skins.
Its funny how this video has the energy rhat youre reviewing some insane deep concept but its just fortnite back blings
i will never stop rocking among us crewmate and pickle rick 🔥
That's a good thing. There should not be a feeling of artificial scarcity.
I remember the vitriol and outrage the community had when they brought back the red knight skin ...after 6 months. Now at this point they could out Black Knight in the shop and most people would not care at all.
@@dialga236 lol you can buy accounts so exclusivity did matter. It was a badge of honor at the very least but now with enough crying nothing remains exclusive. Is it even worth getting the battle pass anymore? eh not really
I still use back blings the back bling era can come back if we work together
Do we need it to? Imo they usually take away from the combo making it clunky and distracting. Will never EVER wear one unless its a smaller one that looks like a part of the skin.
@@GLTCHDGDI agree 100% but they NEVER make the backblings small it’s like epic love to 3x the size of backblings so many of them would look better if they weren’t ginormous
@@GLTCHDGD Completely agree. I'm a casual and I still love making combos, but I RARELY ever put on a backbling for these exact same reasons. The only way a backbring era can come back is if they let us play and customize the dimensions of backblings so they can look good, but I doubt that would ever happen.
To be honest, Backbliings are stiill a great add-on to your character and it's personality.
Glad I could be the one 🙏
@@itstrulymysticwhat’s the first song name??
You're only talking about competitive players, which are a minority. Backblings never had a downfall.
Tbf, some casuals like me got ruined when pets were added, when we pick one to stick with, we never chamge. Just doesnt feel right to roll regular backblings anymore.
You haven’t been playing then because not even the epic bot accounts wear them.
Even casuals don’t wear them because most skins look worse with a backbling or they don’t need one
@@allthingsbass8735 I play almost every day, and also those are bots, so they don't count.
@@CasualCat64 I don't know what you're talking about, because every player is different. Almost all of the players I see wear backblings.
i find it sad that people try their hardest to beat a game as fast and efficient as possible. Just enjoy the game and have fun no wonder a lot of people get bored.
I still use back blings all the time. My favourites that fit with pretty much everything have to be Subjugator, galaxy disc, and Wolfpack.
Same galactic disc, wolf pack and black shield will always be the top tier backblings
I also like the rouge spider knight shield
I miss the backbling era 😢 justice for good back blings. Also, you forgot to mention the back blings that interacted with your pickaxe when you pulled it out. They were kinda good but people would still rather use nothing 😢😢 and also the ones that counted kills or interacted with the game! Thry were kinda cool!
It’s mainly bc a lot of backblings don’t actually stick into the characters. And some of the characters just look better without them. Like there are some characters with a design on their back that we can’t see bc of using one.
I always use backblings my main one is the banner shield cause i love how customizable it is
using my OG backblings is literally my fav thing to do in this game, it feels so nostalgic 💜
This honestly makes a lot of sense I remember making the cleanest combos that really matched my skin and wrap back in chapter 1 and 2, nowadays I don’t even run a backbling or wrap on my skins because it’s too much effort to find stuff in my locker when I have so much
This is so real bro, suffering from success fr
I just save loadouts and put my wraps on random
@@dylanheisler6999i would do this but some of the wraps i got are ass ima just have to archive them so they dont go in the rotation
@@Shadebrawlstars just fav the cool ones it'll only cycle through the ones you've favorited
same lol, i used to have a ton of presets for all kinds of stuff, no i have my favourited skins, pickaxes and gliders set to random, run the same wrap for probably 3 years atp and no backbling
i love backblings and especially the older ones.
Played since C1S4 and I still mix and match stuff for my locker bundles
I legit spend maybe an hour everyday before starting any game just to make a cool combo lmao
Or
I just wear any bp set from ch 2 s4 lol
@@namedless In this Season, just about any Marvel loadout works, so that's valid.
This video is so great, just so quiet. I do have an older phone w not the best speakers but i can barely hear it
I remember I bought the shadow cloak skin (I think thats the name) just for the shadow wings years ago when it first dropped.
I wanted the wolf katana so bad but I got grounded for a long time that season so I didn’t get it
Tbh i use backblings, but most of the time is just the backbling the skin is already including.
i do love when they have some kind of interaction with the skin or other cosmetics tho, like the ones were the pickaxe is on it until you equip it (TMNT ones for example)
wow thats honestly really sad.. this might sound a little silly but as someone with all their skin presets taken by skins with unique backbling combos and skin combos, this realization sucks. part of my favorite thing about Fortnite besides the lore and gameplay are all the combos I can make with the skins that I have, and as an OG - there's a lot of them. hopefully we can come back to an era where all that comes back :(
I personally dont use backblings or if i use one i usually look for something small so it doesn’t obstruct my view between the shoulders of the characters or because especially reactive ones tend to make me look at them while i should be watching the environment, thats why most good players use clean looking skins too because you dont want to look at your skins details and just focus on the environment
I hate that people don’t wear a back bling because it slightly reduces their sight of the area, they should play the game because it’s fun :(
Just looks cleaner tbh
So you are saying that everyone should wear a back bling and have their view limited? Is that what your saying?
Reaper with Wings was scary af
I still wear back blings since most skins suffer greatly without one my favorite has to be the assassin pack from the John Wick set it goes with just about anything
I personally love backblings but I miss the time where they weren’t just reskins like I have the Cuddle Bow and the skeleton bow but they are the same thing with a tiny difference. But I really wished that epic would make more Sword backblings cause like those can’t really be reskinned without anyone noticing. This video was great keep up the work!
I hate How lots of players who are wearing skins with Back bling STRAPS don’t wear a backbling on them
I like that we can do random outfits, I like assigning certain backblings for certain skins. It’s my own little fashion line lol.
Imo there's a lot of outfits that still go amazing with backblings, back then and recently
ive never stopped using backbling and never will
They’re still cool. The hologram one that lets you use the sticker emotes is pretty great.
Why did you make me feel like an unc for using back blings bro
I main the galactic disc from the first galaxy phone skin it truly is the most asteticly pleasing one and pairs great with almost every skin in the game.
what are the names of the first 2 songs in the video?
I Will find them
Cl4p-tr4p is usually my go to back blings, back when they made them compatible with every skin. Plus he was one of the last few pets
Imo shield backblings are still good
As someone who started to play in s3 chapter one I never accepted the idea of minimalism when it comes to combining skin and a backpack.

They were stuck on the outfits in season 2 and in the season 3 update we got the choice to equip backblings on different outfits.
bro if ur not og just say that and delete ur comment 😭
Uhh…you could always change your back bling from the start. Back blings were never stuck to a skin.

The rarity removal just killed the excitement of buying cosmetics for me
that's stupid
i buy them because they look cool, not because they're a specific rarity
Good video! Keep making interesting content!
About wraps, i'm not using them because i don't like bright or boring styles on the weapon, instead, weapon's default look itself is beautiful!
i fw how passionate this dude is about backblings
man i love your voice and your music taste, youre GOATED
10/10 video!
Loved that this topic is being brought up
What made me use backblings was OG stretched res.
That would be pointless. Also whilst you are playing you may think you're hidden , not realising your invisible backbling is sticking out.
I miss OG fortnite bro i miss how everyone had their own skin and skins from s3-s5 battle pass are never worn anymore now there are only sweat skins
I love the background music so much, singing along to a fortnite video in 2024 is crazy
I like using backings because it adds flair to an otherwise empty back.
there’s still a ton of amazing back blings
Buying a skin without a back bling is like buying air for me, almost every back bling is a cool concept and casuals wearing no back bling is weird and are just following the "popular" option. I love back blings and I love to wear them so it's sad that people are now not wearing them and it turns into a domino effect of Fortnite not making them now.
I wish the back bling era comes back.
