the advantage of a cargo drone is when the season is artificially short, like 3 months. . It allows you to enjoy the end game before the season wipe. This will be a more inviting option the more the devs slow down progress in the game and the less players are able to reach the end game in x amount of time.
I can't remember if the Beta System has a 'Dead' planet.. if it does then finding and salvaging the 'Shuttle', assuming they've not nerfed it too much, and you can get to it before anyone else after reset, would solve a lot of resource issues. Also it has, or did on RE1, stacks of steel growplots, but carrying them in the miner might be an issue. There are a few POIs that should have one or two, destroyed shelter, old farm, and a couple of others .. try Beta II or explore a bit more of the planet..
So the Janus has 18 plots.. I have 2 wheat, 2 stimulant, 1 fruit, 1 mushroom, 2 plant fibre, 1 protein (really need 4 or 5), 3 tomato, 2 herbal leaf, 2 spice, 1berries, plus 1 I can't remember. 21 plots would be more useful, extra protein, and a couple of pentaxid.
I wish Empyrion supported Flight sticks
next step, slap cv mining drills on the makar, to speed up progress toward the plutus.

I still want to farm top and bottom of a 4 by 9 area, 2 grow lights and 16 grow plots vs 4 by 9, 1 grow light and 9 grow plots
2:50 not much loot in abandoned bunker???? I strongly disagree. It is packed with loot. Two imperial turrets are not as amazing as they were when you could get them operational in RE1 but they alone worth a LOT early on.
