Thing is, that's not far from the truth. ;) I'm a bit of a schizoid girl (I don't need to be around people to feel good, I can enjoy solitude and journeys in my mind), I don't have sooo much friends, and in Corona times I listen up to 4-5 BM albums a day. Alone in my bed, with headphones, but I don't feel alone. What I find remarkable: The amount of Black Metal guys who seem to like Synthwave, and here especially Dark Synthwave like "Perturbator", "Dance with the Dead", "Daniel Deluxe" or "Carpenter Brut". The guy from Perturbator comes from the BM scene, actually....anyway, nice video as always! :)

Atmospheric Black Metal) and Dark Synthwave both gain their effect through creating a dark, melancholic/lingering atmosphere, with parts full of speed, aggression and tribal rage in alternation with subtle, slow and calm passages. Then there's strong sensivity for melody and "telling stories". BM albums are best heard from first to last second, they are basically ~45 minute long mind movies. You can't listen to just one track alone like on a pop album. Songs are often build on each other. Same with Dark Synthwave. And, last but not least, neither BM nor Dark Synthwave is "dance" music. To get the most out of it, you have to soak it in for yourself, at 3 AM. That's my point of view why the overlap of BM's listenting to Dark Synthwave is so high.
