My 3 Sons was the first sitcom that I ever really go into.
Stanley seems the kind of guy that Chip Douglas would have become -- decent, kind, level-headed. Very nice to see this.
Wonderful interview for anyone who grew up in the 1960's.
I can hear that saxophone music in my head like it was yesterday.
"My Three Sons" one of my favorite TV shows as a kid growing up in the 1960s, so nice to see Stanley, glad he is doing well, his brother Barry was my fave as "Ernie" RIP Don Grady and Tim Considine.
Stan comes off as a great guy with great perspective.
My Three Sons was one of a handful of weekly television shows from my childhood that I did my best never to miss. Now if all fathers could only have been so chill! Then again, any of these sons were angels compared to me and my two older brothers! Thanks for some great memories...
You're still cute Stanley 😍 still watch My Three Sons to this day.
Stanley seems like a real decent fella. It's cool to know that 'Chip' is a chill dude. 👍
Omg I love Stanley. Livingston and. Barry. Livingston too both great actors. My three. Sons was my mom's favorite. TV SHOW!🏘📺 Great interview!!
Wow!!! I'm 70 now, he was such a big part of my childhood!!! Great to hear awesome stories!!! Great interview!!!
Glad you enjoyed it Regina
I love the interview with Stanley and a look behind the scenes of My Three Sons. I loved the show I was a kid when it was on.
Glad you enjoyed our interview @jthoen61 - I think we all loved MTS.
Fascinating interview. Of course, I grew up watching My Three Sons. That must have been wonderful spending time with the great Doris Day.
Wow, learned a lot about my childhood actor friend "Chip". I had no idea what great success he has had over the years. Very fun interview! He has so many stories about Hollywood and all the famous actors and actresses we watched over the years. Stanley Laurel? I never knew his real name. Excellent interview...
Beginning in 1946, there was a yearly Christmas Lane parade in Huntington Park, CA. Pat Boone later became the Grand Marshall and it was televised. When I was a little girl, I had a crush on “Chip” from ‘My
Three Sons’ (who was 8 years older) and during the Christmas parade, I ran up to the convertible car where Fred MacMurray (Steven Douglas), Don Grady (Robbie Douglas), Stanley Livingston (Chip) and Barry Livingston (Ernie) were in.
I was able to shake hands with Barry who was sitting on the outer edge.
He was a great child actor. Very talented
Stanleyyyyyyyy.......dude Chip was the Best!!!!! You played him so well!!!! Barry crushed as Ernie too!!!!! Was so cool you guys got to play Brothers as Actual Brothers!!!!!!
He was a cute little boy and back in the late 60s and early 70s and had cool looking hair back then. loved the interview here. nice to see he is doing good.
Glad you enjoyed it @reginamay2767
That was so worth watching.
I distinctly remember seeing ads an for the "Thanksgiving Reunion with the Partridge Family and My Three Sons" and being excited.
After watching I definitely had mixed feelings, kinda like finding out your cousins from you're favorite aunt/uncle looked different because they all had different fathers!!!
By 1977 things had changed. The country had changed. Society had changed and I had changed!!!!
We were now watching shows like All in the Family, All My Children, One Day at a Time (CBS version), etc.
I suppose one could say a fairy tale view of family life vs a real life view........I really, really like fairy tales!
Almost 72 years old and weekdays almost never miss the show on at 0630. What a great interview! The brothers have done well and grown up successfully beating the “curse”. So glad they’re both doing so well. Not many programs were crafted with such heart and good humor as My Three Sons was. Loved all of the episodes. Not a “clunky” one in the bunch.🙂
Clunky...LOL
Hahaha😊
Great interview! That was my favorite show and I still watch on YT. Thank you both
Glad you enjoyed it!
Stanley has an amazing memory! I was always a big fan of him “and” Barry.
As a kid this was one of my favorite shows. The entire cast was wonderful. Great to see Stanley grew up to be a normal (caring) person...not all child actors managed it.
So true @gmaureen
I only saw this in re-runs. Still, great interview. Thanks, Celebrity Drop.
Hardly any child actors managed it. He does seem a very nice guy, but no one knows what his experience being in the business all his childhood imprinted on him.
How could he not with Fred McMurry for a father.
Me too! One of my favourite shows as a kid in the 60s,
Great interview! You actually let Stanley talk!!! ❤
Thank you for watching @tisa6193
Especially enjoyed the practical joke stories re Frawley & Vivian Vance. Terrific interview, thanks!!!!
Glad you enjoyed it @bemore1134
I saw Barry Livingston's great interview on Foundation Interviews a few years ago and always wondered what happened to Stanley Livingston. It's great to see Stanley in this interview. In the early days of cable M3S(b&w episodes) and M3S(color episodes) would always be on Family Channel. I occasionally watch Beverly Garland in movie as she had a substantial movie career before joining the show. Great reminiscences about the cast members and peace be to Stanley.
Just saw a My Three Sons marathon yesterday on stechey comedy. The way Tina tells the story is when Don went to NY he wanted Tina to go with him but she said only if they got married and he said no so she didn't go and she said it broke her heart. I loved the shows with Chip and Polly.
Catchy comedy channel.
Glad that Tim Considine got mentioned. That’s probably my one gripe about MTS, the way they forgot Mike after he got married to Sally.
Mike was referred to a few times by name after Tim left, then a few years later as, "the first of you." Bub was never mentioned again after the show moved to CBS.
Good to see this lovely knowledgeable interview. Stanley is wonderful and it was good to learn that the show was as nice behind the scenes as what we viewers saw.
Glad you enjoyed it @lwk4229
Great show. What a blast from the past ☺
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for your comment.
He still looks great, what a treat to see this.
Stanley aged very well.
What a pleasure to see little 'Chip' grown up into such an intelligent, thoughtful, man of depth. Thank you for this great interview!!
Glad you enjoyed it @ginnylorenz5265
Really nice to see he's doing so well.
Absolutely love My Three Sons
I loved "My Three Sons". I only got to watch it every other Saturday because my brother liked "Star Trek". My parents decided that one Saturday, my brother would get to watch "Star Trek" and the next week, I'd get to watch "My Three Sons". I'm glad that MeTV has "My Three Sons".
That is awesome!
Glad that Me TV is airing all twelve seasons of "My Three Sons"-It's on weekday mornings at 6:30 Eastern Time/5:30 Central Time.
I enjoyed this interview very much. Stanley comes across as very down to earth and very likable person. Very nice and very straightforward in his responses. Stanley mentioned about how there had been an interest by a producer ( I think it was), to have a program with three daughters instead of three sons but of course that never happened. Actually, I am curious about that. There were all the programs in those years, late 50's, into the 60's, where the starring child or teen actors were mostly boys,
Jon Provost in "Lassie", "My Thee Sons" "Ozzie & Harriet", "Dennis the Menace" "Circus Boy" are the programs that come to mind..
Yes, there was "Father knows Best" with one little girl, one teen girl and one teen boy, but just wondered why there were not more TV shows (in the 1950's and into early/mid 60's) with just girls? I know there was "Gidget" later, but I am referring mostly to the late 50's and early 60's time period where there didn't seem to be many girls starring in TV programs.
Maybe Stan knows the answer to that one?
Loved this interview. Stanley should do more. MTS is still my favorite sit-com. Great stories and memories.
Glad you enjoyed it Pat.
Wonderful interview and learned some things I had not known. Keep in touch with us Stan. Always good to hear from you.
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for your comment.
I loved seeing Chip and Ernie on "My Three Sons" as friends and even better after they became 'brothers'. I was surprised when I found out they were real life brothers because they had no resemblance to each other. This show brings back so many good memories.
I was an extra too
I think they do look alike though! ❤😊
They actually do, but Barry's glasses hid the resemblance a lot. Whenever Ernie would take off his glasses, you could see it. Such as in Barry's first appearance on the show in the episode My Friend Ernie. Chip and Ernie are having a sleepover, and we briefly see them sleeping peacefully in bed towards the end, so of course Barry isn't wearing his glasses.
@RogueTwo I wish they would play reruns
@@user-zb5io8rg8w Yeah, the only channel I know currently airing My Three Sons is MeTV.
Wonderful interview
Thank you @markbrickens3587
Amazing interview, so much info.
Glad you enjoyed it David
I'm 69 years old from L.A. I remember Stanley doing 'Walk-ons' , usually One Liners to Ozzie, on that show. Never related 'Chip' to that little kid though ! Too Cool !!
Stan was such a doll as a kid and I hadn't seen him as an adult until watching this video but he's still a doll..what a nice guy he grew into.
Hi Stan. You guys were part of what made MTS great.
We agree @michaelhartley8426
I named my daughter Katie after Katie Douglas on My Three Sons! Loved that show!
Prayers to Dawn! 🧡🙏
Stanley is definitely down to earth-Grew up with "My Three Sons" which is an all-time classic.
What a pleasurable interview! Such a gentleman. He had nothing bad to say about any of the celebrities he worked with. How cool is that!? Stanley Livingston is a pretty cool guy in my book. Great interview!
Both Livingston brothers seems to have the ability to just accept people the way they are. That can be a tough order at times, with some folks.
Stan is the real deal. Between him and Barry, they have a treasure trove of memories of the old Hollywood days..such fun. Both seem to be such nice guys too. Great interview!
Glad you liked it @moontheloon5
I must agree. I have enjoyed the Livingston boys' interviews like none other. I have just eaten up every morsel offered. Watching these were a really great time for me personally.
My favorite memory is when Chip was marrying Polly, there was a flashback of 6 year old Stanley doing a scene with Fred where Chip spoke of not liking girls with “their goo-goo eyes”. How many other actors would play father and son for 12+ years? No CGI to de-age actors, just a life together. A great scene that spoke of a great relationship.
That flashback was from the 1960 pilot. You could tell with that scene that Stanley was a good actor as young as he was.
Excellent interview with Stan as are your other celebrity interviews. Your passion reflects how we feel about these folks who were/are part of our lives.
Thank you Kevin.
Loved watching “My Three Sons” in the late 60’s when we lived in the Chicago suburbs. It was on Saturday evening IIRC.
I watch reruns of My Three Sons pretty much every morning. First, Tramp is the reason I love shaggy, scruffy dogs so much. Two, I recall the ad for Hunts Catsup way back when where the tomato got sucked into the bottle. The whole Douglas family was sitting around the table. Third, I remember fondly Chip and Ernie and the whole Douglas family. Stan, please give Dawn my love the next time you see or talk to her. My oldest daughter survived a brain tumor about 4 years ago. It's a scary time. She will be in my thoughts.
Wow! What a wonderful interview. I loved My Three Sons and especially Chip because we were the same age. It's so great to hear the back stories of his acting career and see how he's gone beyond acting to create a great life. More than that he is a down to earth very nice man.
Thank you for watching @tynaedwards8452 and glad you got something out of our chat with Stan.
Fantastic video!! Thank you Stan!! Thank you Craig!!
Glad you enjoyed it Andy. Kelley.
Almost passed this video up, but really enjoyed it. What a great guy! Love behind the scenes stories. Happy to subscribe.
Welcome aboard Carolyn and glad you found us.
Wow, im getting old. I loved the shows we had back in our day.
It's great to see Stanley Livingston again! I loved watching My Three Sons, and Stanley and Barry were so adorable! Stanley is still handsome as ever!
I really enjoyed this interview. Stanley seems like such a great grounded guy and it was great to hear how much he enjoyed being with the other cast members outside of work. I spent a few hours several years ago with Don Grady and was so impressed with how nice he was. In those days he was very passionate about his music work and loved to talk about it.
I loved Stanley Livingston on My Three Sons. Just this past weekend I watched a two day marathon on TV. I sat in a chair for hours watching. It was a good show. They don't have shows on TV like that nowadays.
What a great interview! I grew up watching Stanley on, "My Three Sons" and enjoyed him and his little brother on the show. How great to see him as a smart, successful, articulate older adult. He's a great storyteller. How interesting to hear his memories about actors he worked with as a child, especially knowing actors from, "The Lucy Show."
I was always sitting too close to the TV watching this in Living Color!
I don't think you were the only one @ronwade5646!
This was extremely interesting and entertaining. This guy has a heckuva résumé. He has been in a ton of things. What a career. What an interview!
Wonderful chat! It's like 2 old friends shooting the breeze! Thank you!!!
👍👍
Great interview! So good to know he’s done so well and continues! Interesting Back stories! 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it @SM-ot7kb
This is such a great interview. Stanley is so thoughtful and empathetic, and a brilliant talent. As always, Craig does an excellent job.
Thank you for your comment @joanneevans1295
I don't believe this, I was just at my barbershop a couple days ago and we were laughing about the episode from My Three Sons where Chip Douglas got his long hair "shaped" more than cut! 😂 This was wonderful to watch and Stanley doesn't look a day over 50. Craig, you always put so much thought and care into these wonderful interviews. On behalf of us sixtysomethings who grew up with Chip and the Douglas family, thank you! ❤❤😊
What a coincidence @dougmorris9317. We reached out to Stan because a watcher - Andy in London - asked for an interview. And there you go. Thank you for your comment
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Was extra in Bonnie and Clyde in 67 in Lavon Texas 😮
I always had a crush on Chip. So glad he had a great life !
That was a great interview, glad to know he is doing well and trying to help others in the industry.
Love My 3 sons. The black and white reruns. The older shows are funnier.Had a crush on Chip when I was 10. Watching now my crush is Mike( Tim).😂
It was not only good to see Chip again but a real delight to hear about what he's been doing. The interviewing was so wonderful, as well. Thank you so much.
I watched as a kid growing up love the show😊
loved to see Stanley Livingston. grew up watching him and great to see he such a successful and good guy
My 3 sons still one of the best shows ever!😍😍You are amazing and delightful Stanley! One of my favorite episodes is the very first episode where Chip makes "goo goo eyes" at a girl!
Have watched several of his brother’s interviews but great to hear Stanley go back to those years. I still watch My Three Sons daily.
I've been binge watching My Three Sons on Amazon Prime! Chip was my childhood crush, he was a little older than me when it originally aired...so he was the older man! LOL!
It's so nice to see he is such a great guy!
Little Chip in the first year of MTS was beyond adorable
Stanley seems like a really nice man. It's great to hear his perspective, and he and Barry were terrific on My Three Sons.
Stanley briefly attended Bancroft Junior High School in Los Angeles around 1962 or 1963 as I recall. He had already been on My Three Sons so everyone knew him. He was very low key but didn’t stay long. That’s my memory of him.
This was just a thrill for me!!!! My Three Sons is my favorite tv show of all time! I watch it in its first run and of course when it would be in reruns, till I finally got it on DVD. Which I watch all the time!! Thank you doing this interview and Thank you, Stanley for being a guest!
Gad you enjoyed our interview @trueballofwax3077. Stan is a terrific person.
Stanley is such a nice guy and his stories are so fun and interesting! I enjoyed watching reruns of My Three Sons while growing up in the seventies. Awesome interview!
I loved My Three Sons.❤ I had 3 older brothers, LOL. My younger sister and I had the exact same bedroom suit as Chip and Ernie - colonial maple ordered from Sears, LOL. I collected stamps like Ernie. I thought Fred McMurray was the perfect TV Dad, so calm snd understanding. Such a great show! Thanks for this interview!
Thanks for watching @silverinkpot7
1960 born Boston this show was huge hit back then, them and Hazel, dark shadows, batman, that brings me back, society has drastically changed, I was taught to be well spoken, respect, especially your elders and parents, my dad was Strict, it was a little like leave it to beaver
Stanley Livingston is such a fine gentleman! I truly enjoyed this interview.
Stanley is a classy gentleman. Great idea to assist fellow actors. With a grandson who is also an actor and producer after college and now working on a Masters in theater, it has caused me, and probably the family, to see actors in a far more sympathetic light. Its a grandmother’s view, and grannies can be very protective indeed, even of the youngsters (and at my age, practically everyone is a youngster) who are working or moving up the ladder in a challenging career.
So, thank you. I am also very glad to see a young lad i enjoyed watching in his young career, who not only survived being a child actor, but who, as a veteran in that field, is engaged in helping other actors. I hope you continue to do well!
Very good!
Fantastic interview!
Chip was the cool one, he was our guide. Great memories about that show.
My Three Sons was a favorite of mine on Thursday night tv. I actually got to stay up past my bedtime to watch it‼️ Loved every episode♥️🥰
Another wonderful interview Craig! As a kid in the 60's and 70's, I watched TONS of TV... your interviews with all of these former child stars are not only informative, but so comforting! It may sound strange, but I feel like they're all members of my family! THANK YOU! 📺🩷💜🙂
I loved the show and all your characters! So wholesome.
Stanley seems like a wonderful person. Some stars are jerks but Stan shows his down to earth personalty. Those of us who grew up watching "My Three Sons" think of him as part of their family.
I agree. On the other hand, Barry seems like a jerk. And, unfortunately, I've heard stories that he is a jerk.
He is the last of the original crew
@@m.e.d.7997 "Last" meaning what?
@@kennykistler6735Last one living. Sudsy and Hank have passed away. Tina Cole was not original crew nor Ronnie Troup. Ernie also was not the original cast from 1960
@@kennykistler6735Barry seems nice. Have seen him interviewed
Enjoyable to listen to.
I happened upon this accidentally. “Chip” you look great and I guess I knew Ernie was your real bro but for some reason I forgot. Glad to see our childhood heroes are alive and doing well. Working with William Demarest had to be a story all in itself. William Frauley too for that matter.. the old guard of early Hollywood.
I grew up on My Three sons, . Thanks for the trip down memory lane...
Glad you enjoyed it
Super sweet man.
Great interview! I still watch Sons reruns. Always liked his character. Now, I like the man even more.
Wonderful interview! What a nice person Stan is! I love how he found something good to say about everyone 🥰. My kinda person! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for watching @TreasuredVintage
the 60s got my first pair of wingtip shoes because of intro film clip
