Thanks for your fair review of my car! It's fun to find a European review on this. Subscribed! I'm very happy with our XT5 in its function as our family everyday driving SUV. Our ATS is our fun-to-drive luxury sports sedan and we like that too.
+Harper Price welcome!!
Hey :)
I really like that you review more "unusual" cars; thats quite unique as a German reviewer, however youve got international audience. So, keep on the good work and Best regards!
I dont know why, but the general shape of it reminds me of an Opel SUV.
The interior tho is really nice.
This guy does one of the best car reviews
thanks buddy!
As usual: Excellent in depth review, thank-you thomas. A 100 kph to 200 kph test would be very informative and interesting to watch if you did those.
Hello Thomas,
brilliant review, as usual. There's always a smile on my face, once I see there's a new Review from Autogefühl.
Any chance of you guys reviewing the Facelift BMW 1 Series, or the Fiat Tipo HB ?
I've already seen the Tipo Limousine Review from the other Thomas, but I'm still very interested in either one of those cars.
Thank you very much for the great content!
I love how unique the Cadillac brand is in Europe I mean you never see them
That's because it's rubbish and way too expensive for what you get. They cost more than BMW's, Audi's and Mercedes in Europe but are nowhere near as good.
derbigpr500 have you ever driven one? Have you ever sat in on? There more luxurious than Audi, better handling over Mercedes and are on the same level as BMW for quality. So yeah crap I guess
Aoyagi that literally makes no sense.....😂
As a guy who drives and test cars, both new and used (up to 4 yrs and 80,000 miles not kilometers) It is rare that I find a BMW or Mercedes Benz that has stood even this short test of time. They have engine problems that make absolutely no sense for a 4yr old car. Fuel Injectors, Oil Injectors, Crankshaft problems, Overheating and the Transmissions fail more than Fords.. And don't even get me started on the Alfa's, VW's, Jaguars and Land Rovers. (Notice I left out Audi who is the only Euro-brand to get their act together over the past 5yrs.) Sure these cars are as solid and over-engineered as they come. That being said it doesn't make them good cars.. A $100,000 car is an expensive driveway ornament if it doesn't start. Aesthetics be damned, I would gladly take a Cadillac CTS or even a Buick LaCross over an E-Class or a 5-Series because history has shown me that it will not start falling apart shortly after the warranty expires, usually about 47,000 miles with the European cars. Need 250,000 miles with minimum problems go Japanese or American.. Long term, Koreans still have long term proving to do..
OceanBlue on average the Cadillac is slightly more expensive than say a BMW due to the European import tax
Rare that someone from EU test this American legend, I always like Cadillac cars and SUV models.
Thanks for this test, XT5 looks great.
+Miloje Nikolovski cheers!
I understand about every third word this guy is saying but his reviews are excellent!
1. Be sure and set your RUclips comments to Newest First rather than Top Rated. That way you can avoid the Justin Douche troll (and all the flame wars and negativity that he brings). 2. Love how clean the interior looks, and the cream color really makes it pop. 3. That lack of headroom in back is inexcusable, will likely be a deal breaker for some who want to have taller [expletive in back.
After I watched several reviews, finally I became your big fan! I love this design and build quality.
great to have u here!
Thomas... do you ever rest
Review after review... I dont know how you do it!
As always very informative and entertaining, you beat many TV car shows!!
Thanks for all your efforts!!
thanks dude, always keeping up the effort for u !
1: it's amazing that the car is reving at almost 1200rpm when you are cruising on the autobahn!
2: I hope the mad driver got what he deserved (in France he would also have lost his car)!
Great one Thomas, as usual.
way to go !
What beautiful American car! I wish it could to be easier to buy it in Europe!
Hey tall man! If you think you don’t fit in the back seat, you need to adjust the rear seats to move it backward or forward. Platinum trim has this option, which I have not seen in Mercedes. And the mug holder on the consul has a knob on it that you need to press it first and pull it back. If you don’t know how to operate, don’t give a stupid comment.
The 2017 Cadillac XT5 is a joy to drive. Two features I love is when the cruise is set the engine will shift down from 6 cyl to 4 cyl for better economy . Also the Platinum comes with the special rear view mirror that is a camera streaming a wider view ... I currently own a 2015 SRX and will trade in the fall for a 2018 XT5 platinum .
thanks keep tuning in!
As an American I prefer "foreign" vehicles. Mercedes is a favorite, I quite enjoy the interior and exterior beauty. BMW's performance and exterior appeal is top notch in my opinion, but I definitely enjoyed this video. I love watching your informative reviews, you're one of the best.
Nice review - I've seen many mostly positive reviews of this here in the states. I like the style and interior as well. I've been very curious how this would play in Europe.
Amazing looking car!
The EU also mandates yellow or amber turn signals and this car had red ones. So it must have a special permit to be sold in Europe without changes.
ye as I said at some point, the registration papers said something like "special registration permit"
Love Thoma! Always does such an amazing job. Great work!
Brilliant design
I just cant see myself buying this SUV over the new Q5 i would be insane
Q5 has a full plastic upper dash at least this is all leather covered
The difference is, every single detail in the Q5 is as solid as a rock, Cadillacs feel like they're gonna fall apart after half a year, because in a showroom, all new Cadillacs rattle and every little part of the interior you press onto squeaks. Can't even come close to Audi's quality. Putting leather over a piece of thin hollow plastic skeleton of the dash doesn't make it higher quality than high quality soft touch plastics that is several cm's thick and sits on a cast aluminium frame to make it as solid as possible. This is exactly how Cadillac fools people, they use nice materials on the surface but underneath its the same typical Gm crap quality. Drive it for a few years and see how nice that dash feels. I know from personal experience Audi's are as tight after 300,000 km's and 8-9 years of use as they on the day they get out of the factory.
Fexxe what are you talking about?? Audi makes the best interior quality in the industry, are for real comparing a cadillac to an audi?? i would even be insane if I choose a XT5 over the GLC i might even prefer the xc60 over it even though its old, American cars can't compete in the luxury segments against the european cars especially the germans
Nissan GTR Fanboy its soft touch plastic, I honestly prefer it to leather, leather gets a lot of heat and cold depending on the weather
Fexxe ohh my bad sorry bro
Thanks for the great review. I drive an SRX. My lease will be over soon, and was wondering if it's worth an upgrade to XT5. I didn't hear you talking about the 14-speaker Bose sound system. Could you comment on how good/bad the sound system Is? is it comparable to Bang & Olufsen on the German rivals?
thanks! didnt feel like it would be very special imho, but surely better sound than the base one
The stereo in the XT5 is absolutely amazing!!
My wife and I conducted our own market survey of both foreign and domestic Premium Crossovers SUV's. We concluded that the Cadillac XT5 Platinum was clearly for us. We bought the Cadillac XT5 Platinum and we're amazingly satisfied.
have fun m8 !
You should do a review together with TheGatewayer. I guarantee it would get over a million views in matter of weeks. The German dream team
Very informative and entertaining. The reviewer was very interesting. I have a 2016 SL550 Mercedes and it's GPS as we say here in the states sucks.
thanks keep tuning in!
Hello from Croatia, great review as always.
Can you tell me what is the song from the beggining of the video, please.
Cheers!
Frotto Pilos Probably from the youtube music library.
You are totally confusing me now Thomas, first it was German then Japanese and now American:-). Great review!
my bias switches every day =)
Thomas I would like to know when are you going to test the 3008 gt thanks Phil
scheduled for spring!
Autogefühl Qz
Cadillacs costs a fortune in my country though. I don't know why they are that expensive.
Its a Cadillac, its not cheap.
Hello Thomas, will you ever review a Dacia? Great channel!
Marius Suru Yeah that would be nice, the Dacia Sandero Stepway for example.
Marius Suru and there'll be no animal skin
Good point. Too bad they dont work much with digital media :/
Autogefühl they don't need social advertising, word of mouth works wonder already
you could just ask someone (community) to lend you their car
Hallo, I like your reviews Thomas! About the car: I think it is looking good, with the right proportions at the exterior. The interior is really beautifull for my opinion, with clean design and luxurious feeling. I have set in this car and the ATS sedan, and i can say that at the ATS I was little disappointed in the interior from some buttons and the open/close selector of the air vents. This XT5
however felt more high quality built with solid feeling and precise range of motion of the buttons.
Can You please review the CTS premium and the new CT6? THANKS A LOT!!
+Daniel thx Daniel! Yes, we ll show u the cts v and ct6 early next year!
Thank you for your indepth review of the Cadillac XT5. What color is your test vehicle? Metallic Grey?
thanks! I think so
I would love to see you review the ridgeline and pilot
Cadilacs problem is the horrible platics used in the inside and ugly gauges. They are not at Audi level but ask the same price. When Thomas was adjusting the seats, all I could think was how horribly cheap even the seat adjuster buttons look. Either lower the price and offer the 2.0T engine or fix the interior.
The headlights look like they're crying ..... quite a nice vehicle. Too expensive for what it is.
Didn't you miss one thing, the LCD rare-view mirror..??!!
Thanks for the review, also thanks for speaking English. I've got a 2018 XT5. I've seen dozens of reviews your as good any I've seen. Why does the European XT5 have the turn signal light, the American XT5 dosn't? Wish itdid.
Thanks! Different regulations for the markets
Are you serious about this review haha, man check how poor is the German cars reliability , I have an Audi w12 engine and an Audi Q5, the Audi dealer has no clue how to fix their issues (minor issues), imagine that !!!! NO CLUE and they are an Audi Dealer .. hahaha. at least American cars are long long long reliable ... the world is changing sweetheart ,. consumers care about reliability rather than quality !!!! My opinion :) thanks
Are the taillight turn signals yellow or red. The u.s. Spec ones have red turn signals.
How are you doing Thomas, Got any jet lag after Detroit?
Jet lag was ok, but as so many people on the plane were already sick I got heavily sick a couple of days later .. still lasting :/
Thats a shame, Hope you get well soon! get some rest now and take it easy, we want you to review cars for forever :-)
Wow, that's a lot of windshield glare. The upper dash should be black no mater the seat color.
Many congratulations to your +150000 Prenumerants
thanks lets keep doing this !
Can u plz do a review on Suzuki Ignis
Tomas come and do a car review on greek streets..!
Peter Solar channel Rush hour in Athens haha. θα τρελαθώ.
i d love that
Hello, I live and work in Wiesbaden for the US forces. I'm interested in purchasing a 2017 Cadillac XT5 Luxury or Premium edition. Is there a dealership that I can go to here in Germany?
+Nbr1 Dallasfan i ll see what i can do for u! Checked on cadillac.de ?
Danke shoern. My email is williej01@hotmail.com. I plan on going to the states in March to buy an XT5, but if I can get a US-specs XT5 here, I'll get it here.
+Nbr1 Dallasfan ok sent mail :)
Yes, thank you. I emailed a contact in Frankfurt this morning.
Thomas, you are not a fan of real leather? I notice you comment on it quite regularly.
Peter Meelker He is vagan
I thought it would be something like that. Makes sense.
Thank you for taking interest in this very important topic!
First to the practical reasons:
1. animal skin seats get hot in summer and you stick to the seat
2. they are cold in winter
3. on cloth or microfibre, you basically don’t need seat heating nor cooling
4. animal skin seats wear out very fast and look like granny’s old sofa
5. if you want leather look, the leatherette (faux leather) surfaces are meanwhile highly evolved and it is possible that it feels even softer and better than anything else (See our Tesla Model X review) So Tesla shows that the discussion wether you need animal skin is basically done.
Still, now to the environmental reasons:
1. There are many productions where the cow is killed for the skin first, sometimes even alive, the skin is the most profitable single part of the body.
2. The way the cows are held are catastrophic (see videos below)
3. Even if a cow gets killed for meat first, you give additional money to an industry that relies on murder, pollutes the environment and harms people with chemicals.
4. Does it really matter for which cause a mammal, that is 99 % genetically identical with us, gets killed? Would you say a cow only got slaughtered for the meat in the leg and thus it got slaughtered for the meat in the neck anyway? That doesn’t make sense.
5. So to the often said argument, animal skin would just be a byproduct, please google/youtube "leather is not a byproduct" you will find plenty of information. A good overview on all those issues can also be found here: adaptt.org/
6. Let's say you are standing at the meat counter. And you ask for the leg of the cow. The butcher tells you: "You can eat that without worrying, the cow was slaughtered for the neck first". The next customer demands the neck. The butcher tells him: "It's not your fault, the cow was slaughtered for the belly". An the next customer demands the hide, what answer does he get? You see, that argument of "byproduct" comes from the meat and leather industry to cover that you contribute to killing no matter which part of the body you buy.

4. This is another video which very well summarizes the torture of leather production, shots taken at big farms which directly produce for the automotive industry: ruclips.net/video/OgHs239bAnE/видео.html
Help to raise awareness on this subject. Thanks!
Thanks for the information, Thomas. I respect your point of view. I think we all need to be much more aware of this.
appreciated m8
Thomas it's called "Leather", a lot of consumers choose this option and have been doing so for over 100 years so referring to the material as "animal skin" and bringing up the material choice in a negative manner every time is really a rather annoying aspect of your generally good reviews
It's not "Leather" and is not a material, my Friend it's a part of living beings Abused, Killed And slaughtered by the millions every year for Their Skins. There are many alternatives to leather, Killing Animals for food or others things is immoral I don't know how some people are so cruel to make animals suffer just to make a bag or shoes or cars interior and seats, this is why our world is fuck-up, barbaric and Inhuman.
thanks for being the voice of empathy and reason here m8
My agenda is truth and compassion. Be my guest blaming me for that

In terms of awareness, the byproducts of leather production are lethal. It's environmental destruction as shown in the documentary 2016 film, Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret. .. .The RED RUclips link: .. ruclips.net/video/MjIXJMGpT3k/видео.html .. . View the movie once (daughter's insisted) and you'll think twice about leather interior. The Mercedes time honored MB-Tex material is the way to go. Three Cheers to Thomas and Mercedes Benz !
It looks like the American manufacturer are trying to sell a mid level car with a premium price tag in Europa. As always a very good review Thomas.
Wait, in Germany you lose your drivers license for cutting across lanes at 20 km/h above speed limit ??
Wish that we had that law in America, that way nutcases wouldn't be messing up my commute. A mustang nearly crashed into me today
welche autobahn war das denn am anfang wo das schnelle auto vorbei gefahren ist? :D das ist doch schon mal passiert xD
In Russia, they are sold very poorly, as there is no tax advantageous version. For sale only versions with V6 3.6/315hp, and we have a normal tax only up to 250 horsepower. Diesel must have for normal sales in SUVs market.
Being an American, but mostly a Mercedes Benz fan. I also am a fan of most European brands. Theres something about this vehicle that i cant pinpoint. Its just not competitive im my eye to the European brands. Do you think its a good comparison to those brands?
93Adamv23 it's just an overpriced Opel
sebxx i thought so..
93Adamv23 Also European taxes are killing it. But if mr. Trump wants Europeans to buy American cars you should step up the game
93Adamv23 wtf opel doesnt own cadillac
exterior isn't bad. but interior looks common, dashboard screams 'Opel'
Thanks for the reply to Thomas and the gang
Thomas is freezing cold :b
someone please put it 20C warmer!
You can adjust the chime volume
really? where?
OK Frenchie that was a pretty good review of an American car, just remember that if it weren't for us you'd be speaking German now...
lol, I'm not French. And dont talk to me that disrespectful, we're still people here
cheers amigo! it was a great review and helped me a lot...thank you
the design is quite boring and fuel consumption is way too high for a car built nowadays. the review is nice as always : )
I don't know if it's better then Volkswagen, but definitely looks better!!!! VW has very boring design. Good job Cadillac 👍 Good think we can buy this in Europe. Very good review. Thanks 😀
thanks stick with us!
How do the europeans perceive Cadillac and Lexus as a brand?....do they consider it on par with the germans
hardly bought here. Main reason is a) the big fleets get good discount leasing for Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen b) Lexus and Cadillac hardly have any dealer presence c) Lexus and Cadillac are not really cheaper but from the look & feel the clearly worse than the Germans. Then it's hard to argue which advantages do you really have (naturally aspirated engines, maybe longer durability which then again doenst play a role for 2 or 3 year leasing contract) etc. You get the picture :)
Nice car
Great review bro... you're eccentric but I dig that. The car - looks like a Kia/Hyundai to me... caddy can do better.
Surprisingly fine cars these Cadillacs. In terms of look not really my thing (which is personal), but all of the recent Cadillacs I've driven (I get them often as rent cars when I'm, in the US or Canada) in are simply on par with with what you get from Europe and Japan (Korea has only the Genesis).
The problem with cars like this is the pricing. They tax it up the whazoo; here (the Netherlands) the car starts at € 92.900. I also took a look on the American website: Starts at $46.200 This excludes stuff like destination freight charge, tax, title, license, dealer fees, but this isn't that much.
Then Germany (our neighbor country for people who don't know): Starting price is €48.800,-
Got the prices from here:
Dutch: www.cadillac.nl/vehicles/range/xt5-crossover/overview.html
American: www.cadillac.com/crossovers-suvs/xt5-crossover/build-your-own.html#/trim
German: www.cadillac.de/modelle/pkw/xt5-crossover/configurator.html
Am I missing something, or are we really getting screwed this hard?
L.GH. Djoetma It's called BPM
I know. But why does it need to result in such a huge difference.
L.GH. Djoetma Pvda is the answer
Jrv200008 ?? What are you talking about?
First? Give me a high five Thomas
high five bro
Oh Cadillac, you are such a stubborn brand. I'm not saying that adding diesels to your engine choices in Europe will make you successful, but not doing so will put you in the same path as Chevrolet in Europe.
Why is it that everyone that do these videos point with there middle finger. U guys really like flipping people off that watch your videos huh. Who taught u that it's ok to point with your middle finger ?
Cadillac has no chance to compete with elite Germans Auto-makers in Europe, Just Ask Lexus !!!!! back in US Cadillac struggle to compete. Combined, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Lexus accounted for more than half of all U.S. luxury brand sales last year.
Hey manualgefuhl
tracker
I really hate the way Cadillac does interiors. it's just totally lacking in terms of aesthetics, just a bunch of parts that looks like they come from totally different cars thrown together in a tasteless way. And the quality (or lack of) is already typical for Cadillac now. Nicer materials, but much worse put together than Opels. Nowhere near Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Lexus, etc.
Here's a bit of advice, learn about all the features before you film a review! It was obvious you hadn't done your homework on this CUV.
So why is that and how would you know? It's funny how sometimes people think they can do better reviews - feel free to do so :)
I like your reviews, I am even an subscriber but this one was a bit haphazard. I appreciate your point of view coming from Europe. However, it was clear you rushed this one. I just offered my opinion to help you make better reviews.
So what did I not prepare?
The problem was that on many of the items you seemed unsure of what their functions were. You were saying things such as I think this works this way or perhaps it works like this. Now, I do realize that you're not as familiar with U.S. products as you are with the European brands. Me being a former car salesman, product knowledge was drilled into my head. Maybe my OCD kicked in! Lol. As I said before I really enjoy your reviews and they are fairly unbiased. I was just passing on some constructive criticism, if I offended you in any way I sincerely apologize!
What the hell is up with American cars' steering wheels? So many pointless curves, turns, buttons and details on all of them.
It looks like the car is crying. I would too if I was an American car...
I don't like the 'unique' design at all, especially the headlights :)
It looks like a Buick 😷
This "animal skin" routine is really becoming annoying. Don't push your political agenda on the viewers or they will walk away from your channel. Leather is absolutely NOT unsustainable as a matter of principle and generally speaking, as you try to pretend, and once again it is inappropriate to make philosophical/political statements in car reviews. A car in and of itself is a lot more "unsustainable" than leather seats, yet you make a living reviewing them and therefore enticing more and more people to buy them... Where's the rationale?
Not political agenda, just basic reason.

I don't like... but good work Thomas Mj Ali from Brussels
thanks and greetings!
Interior is terrible looks too cheap for a Cadillac.
looks like an Opel design anno domini 2020. and its not a compliment.
