Whenever Nike calls something minimalist, it just means they are cutting production costs. I can't believe Nike is banking on brand loyalty rather than performance superiority.
So Nike cut corners and if it wasn't for this teardown, people are probably assuming the same Zoom implementation as before based on the outsole, while Nike saves money with material costs. Nike is really pushing their brand loyalty to the brink these days.
I have a feeling Nike saw pretty much every reviewer liking the Pro 2 over the flagship Vapor 11 and decided that's bad for business, so made this shoe worse to push people to the Vapor 12 that's coming in a few months.
It’s funny how the performance side of Nike is struggling so much yet they have so much money for r&d. Perfect example is that we didn’t get a new metcon model this year, just a re-release of the original metcon which is a much better shoe, imo at least, than the last few metcon models
Great review and breakdown as always. Have the Vapor Pro 2’s but don’t love the grip, as I am not a slider. Was hoping these would be a little different but don’t sound like an improvement.
If you can do a video for early spring on the distinguishing characteristics of light weight and heavier weight doubles shoes vs singles only shoes . The question comes out of your listing of your selection of best shoes , where doubles was one of them .
Hey Zach, are there any designs you see in a tennis/basketball shoe that you wish was more common in the other? Ex: herringbone common in basketball would like to see it on tennis models
hey @FootDoctorZach - great video. thanks for unearthing the zoom bag change quick question - what services to recommend for re-gluing? I have two outsoles that have bad glue on Nike Breathe Cage II shoes. Do you recommend a cobbler or repair service for this type of repair?
I'm so glad i didn't get any shoe from vapor pro 1 which is absolute failed. Good thing I didn't used my old vapor 9.5 that much and earlier version. Which they kept those shoe model better. Durability might not be great, but they have more comfort and design wise more appealing
How come majority of new tennis shoes are obviously lack of lateral support in transverse direction around the knuckles of little toes nowadays? I stick with Court FF 2 for that reason.
anyone interested in a full vapor pro v. vpii v. vpiii comparison? as someone who hasn't yet switched off the og vp, curious on if i should make the change...
I only played in them once so far but they felt better than the 2s. Granted it's been a while since I played in the 2s and didn't stick with them but I feel like the cushion on the 3s is better just because it's right under the foot whereas the 2s just felt like bricks but that might have been me remembering the bad lockdown and stiff uppers. Although the cushion isn't as responsive or springy as you might think with zoom air. Agree with everything else you said about the shoe, I could probably go down a size and be fine with a break in period but the lockdown in this shoe is great. The still feel a little clunky and not as nimble as I'd want, very noticeably bottom heavy, decent shoe but not good enough to surpass the 1s but an upgrade over the 2s.
So original vapor pro > vapor pro 2 > 3. The iterations are literally downgrades. Adidas is also disappointing and except of barricade, they don't have much. Looks like it's the time for the smaller companies to shine: lotto, diadora, on, mizuno etc.
feels like Nike testing the market to see how strong their brand is by launching lower quality/uninteresting update with the same or higher price....if the shoes still sells, they will keep doing it, until they are not, then they will change it all and upped the quality....Nike is testing their market price quality equilibrium, and I think I don't want to be part of that.
The last pair of Nikes I had were around 15 years ago. They were the shoes Rafa was wearing at the time. They fell apart because of the shoes being glued together and not stitched. Would see the same thing happened to Nikes watching basketball and tennis tv. Nike has been garbage ever since. Will never buy Nikes again
I don't understand, i feel like these look better than the 2s yet they downgraded the actual functionality of them. like wtf is nike tennis doing. I don't get it. asics all the way
an overpriced vapor lite with new dress and old faults... it just remain a very little hope in the new vapor 12 that look like a turn back to the vapor 9.5 base. fingers crossed
smaller zoom = more aggressive as it mimics a very curved shank with a sharp tipping point. the zoom in previous gen was way too stable and flat. not sure why everyone is complaining.
These look as cheep as they can be for $130 a pair, heck even at $90. I'd visited a friend this December who works at Nike in Beaverton OR, high up there in Nike's sales and marketing division, the indolence some of them displayed was just plainly obvious. It seemed to me that they place much of their priority on whatever sells the most now, i.e., lifestyle products, a few overly engineered hyper racing shoes that garner eyeballs, and then complacency. When I asked my friend how is it that at almost all their nike stores there are no tennis shoes to be displayed, he said tennis I just not a mainstream sport. I mean who even cares to have 5 and more different running shoe models and 10 different color ways on display in anime store?
Hey foot doctor Zach! Video idea here, best basketball shoes that look great that could be used for pickleball outdoors? The new hardens, the grinch and reverse grinch Kobe 8’s, the AE 1’s.. all these shoes look so good but I don’t want to hurt myself while playing high level pickleball. What say you??
Did you do one on outdoor basketball shoes that could be used for tennis? I've been considering cheap basketball shoes because cheap yet decent tennis shoes getting harder to come by@@FootDoctorZach
At this point these companies should be outsourcing to Zach to help evolve their models year on year. It's sad how tennis shoes from Adidas and Nike are completely failing.
At this point, surely Nike and Adidas must know The Doc is going to tear them apart and give an unbiased review. After the train wreck of Ubersonic 5 and the dumpster fire Pro 3, looks like I’m going to the Asian brands.
Or go Italian, lotto, mizuno, diadora. I am now on raptor hyperpulse 100 and as Zach was saying in his reviews, they're amazing. I don't struggle with foot blisters so much anymore like after sessions with Nike shoes

Hello, could you review the way of wade speed 10 premium, I know it's an older shoe but it has some interesting technology, thanks.
How Much Sir Zach
Can you do a review on the kobe 5 protro?
At this point, i think nike is actually trying to destroy the company.
I read an article recently that smaller shoe companies like On are really biting into them.
@@Crakka78 rlly?? Well, that's not so unexpected
I used to wear Cages back in the day (like 06-10).. they were such a stable, comfortable shoe. What happened?
@@cscummingsivRafa Cage 4 is an awesome shoe though
I'm so happy you're taking forefoot outsole information seriously. It's so so important and no one ever cares.
And yet Nike doesn't understand why they are experiencing their own downfall, smh
Whenever Nike calls something minimalist, it just means they are cutting production costs. I can't believe Nike is banking on brand loyalty rather than performance superiority.
To be completely honest, they’ve been doing this for years, and that’s coming from a big Nike fan. They just don’t make them like they used to.
That's it, Nike has destroyed the Vapor Pro line. They never recovered until now after Federer left them, hope Vapor 12 redeems them
I appreciate you keeping these shoe companies proverbial feet to the fire !

Vapor 12 thankfully looks more like the 10s than the 11s
I’ve stocked up and use the Rafa cage 4s and asics gel res 9s my two favorite tennis shoes of the year
Hey Zack great vid!! Thank you!!! They did change the runner compound though.
It’s funny how the performance side of Nike is struggling so much yet they have so much money for r&d. Perfect example is that we didn’t get a new metcon model this year, just a re-release of the original metcon which is a much better shoe, imo at least, than the last few metcon models

Crazy volley drill @9:42 lol
gosh the size of the actual zoom bag is so much smaller than the outline of the zoom on the outsole!

Glad they fixed the toe from the Vapor 11 that fell apart after 2 hours.
Looking forward to the Vapor 12s this time, they definitely evolved it a lot compared to the 11s
lol
I tried the second gen and thought to myself how bad the shoes were.
Ended up getting new balance’s. Way more comfortable
Hey Zach, I use the vapor pro 2’s, can you please review the new vapor 12s? Would be a better choice to upgrade to?
Looking forward to the vapor 12 or a update to the Cage line. Is there ever going to be an update to the cage line?
I'd take a revival of the gp turbo over cage line any day of the week
@ the GP challenge is like the next iteration of it, the cage 4 has been around forever, we need something back to the roots of like a cage 3
The Cage line is officially dead
The design is not so bad IMO better than the 2 but the performance seems low compare to asics shoes
Hey Zach, are there any designs you see in a tennis/basketball shoe that you wish was more common in the other? Ex: herringbone common in basketball would like to see it on tennis models
Good question

will you be reviewing Vapor 12’s?
Can the zoom be smaller ? Is it technically possible?
The leaked vapor 12s look really promising. Hopefully, they'll be better than these. I liked the vapor pro 1s and 2s but the 3s do seem like a miss.
Can you do a review on the new vapor 12?
Sorry for being off topic from the vid. Do you think you’ll do an update for your move insoles comparison to account for their newest release?
Design Wise This is Definitely The Precision 7.

Can you please do the nike vapor 12 premium?
Don’t worry guys! Apparently the Vapor 13 is going to be good 😂
could you compare jetboost to something like lightboost, bounce, or lightstrike pro based on which is best for athletes.
Hey zach i’m wondering should i purchase a size 44 insoles and put it in size 44,5 ja 1 will it work fine?
How come majority of new tennis shoes are obviously lack of lateral support in transverse direction around the knuckles of little toes nowadays? I stick with Court FF 2 for that reason.
you ever do track spike reviews??
When Vapor 12 is comming out?
Can you do a review for the Nike GT jump academy please
Still Waiting for AR2 review 😊
can you review the ar 2?
anyone interested in a full vapor pro v. vpii v. vpiii comparison? as someone who hasn't yet switched off the og vp, curious on if i should make the change...
Looks like they reduced the midsole cushioning
The Japanese brands continue dominating
Can you do the Nike Rival Fly 4?
They have to go above and beyond to take away almost every positive thing from the pro 2 and made it into these.
But were are the ones Carlitos played with the last season ?
Carlitos using Vapor Pro (original). It is out of production. Same story with Sinner and Sabalenka. They are using old shoes.
Nike is killing themselves. Everyone switching to asics

Looks like sh... Like cheap Vapor Lite from a few years ago...
❤
I really don’t understand Nike’s strategy at this point.
The heat test is irrelevant when you live in the north of England 🤣😭
lol yeah hotter shoes are gonna be a feature not a bug
@@FootDoctorZach water proof would proof be ideal 🤣

my gawd that zoom bag and faux zoom area is bordering on consumer fraud
In short this shoe is not as good as other tennis shoes out there 😢
Why couldn’t we just have vapor pro 1s forever?
So are these entry level Nikes now? They should remove “Pro” from the name and retail for $90
Not even a sharpie mark where a shank should be. A great $50,00 shoe.

Nike had lost the plot completely, it seems. No wonder pros like Dimitrov and Alcaraz still get the OG Vapors
Nike showing they no longer care about Tennis. These look Garbage, like the last ones.
Man. These just look so cheap. If the shoe isn't great performance-wise, at least make it look cool lol
For the love of god who's working for nikes tennis shoe department 😬

What a letdown then…

Nooooo Nike! Again 🙃

This has to be a joke. Nike a case study in ruining a brand
If i was a multi millionaire tennis player , I'd just pay foot doctor Zach to make me a tennis shoe
looks like garbage, no stability. vapor line hasn't been good since the x or zoom vapor pro. nike cheaping out. thanks nike!
Just a cheap knock-off?
100% dislike . Do not know what Nike doing. None of them recent shoes are good.

Honestly, sounds like just one more nail in Nike’s coffin. Sad.
Giant swoosh ruins look of shoe IMO. Nike will never learn
Nike is overrated.
