OMG am from Ethiopia am happy to see your video , you did a good job
Yes!! Thank you!!!💃💃💃
We cut the chicken into 12 pieces as well, and we don't relate it to any tribes at all.
Doro wat is my favourite Ethiopian food, very similar to an Indian curry, just a bit hotter
Indian here! I come from a beautiful coastal state called Goa. Our cuisine comprises of some beautiful meat gravies as well & we do prepare a flatbread similar to Injera. Glad we share so many similarities! I love African food!
This looks so good! I seen a video on what to try as an adventurous foodie who appreciates other cultures dishes and this is definitely on my list!
Thank you so much, i just made this for my parents for an anniversary dinner. I had it with chapati(we're indian), my whole family was just blown away. It's so familiar to indian food. I really appreciate your recipes, thank you again.
That's so cool. I am Ethiopian but 99% of the time I am assumed to be indian 😂 I take it as a complement. It's cool😂
Indian here and I gotta agree!
@@elder_millennial_Fboy yall are the same group that’s why lol study ur ancient history

Thanks for the recipe..with all due respecr it looks like you used more than a quarter cup of water.
Never had this before, looks so yummy and inviting, I will attempt this, tfs
Great job! You know the history too, why Ethiopians cut the chicken in 12 pieces. All the time in Ethiopian chicken wat it is necessary to Slash the chicken and boiled eggs before you put them in the Stew, to absorb all the ingredients and it is one of the secrets that makes Ethiopian cooking delicious.
I am Pakistani, im suprised how many similar types of curry bases we have in common and similar dishes, this looks so good will deffo try it out soon 😍
Yes, you are right, food is our common ground. I hope you enjoy this one too!! 😊
The spice trade have spread all over the old world till the discovery of the new world, chilli was discovered in the americas and that revolutionized cuisine.
Are you serious that Doro Wat is basically supposed to be Ethiopian jew-ish (beta israel)?? (12 pieces for the 12 tribes of jacob)? Amazing and I never would have known that. I'm even more excited to make it now!!
I can smell it too!
🤤🤤🤤❤️
I followed this, and it smells SO good. I'm just waiting for it to finish cooking. I'm foolishly very surprised that actually smells like the real thing😂
I've noticed in west and east Africa you thoroughly clean your meats before cooking. A practice not too common here in Southern Africa.
Look very delicious 🤤 😋 I love Africanfood
Glad you do! ❤❤❤
Is thjs same as zighini
Ive got a lical Ethiopian restaurant that makes great doro wat. They need you to order it the day before, to cook it properly 😁
By far the best cooking-teacher youtube has (not having seen all). Calm, instructive, well-paced.
Can I used normal butter ... because i don't know where I found kibbeh ethiopian butter here 😊
I love Ethiopian food!! I am chinese and your food is amazing! Doro wat totally suits my taste buds!
I love your format--video to recipe. Simple, easy to follow, and easy to reference for cooking along.
I'm planning on making this recipe this week, I don't have the niter kibbeh but rather a powder blend of the spices themselves. Do I add this at the end or in the beginning with the berbere spice?
I can't wait to give it a try it does look yummy 😋 👍
Amazing recipe. It is so close to my mothers, almost identical. Thank you so much!
Hello . it is the what called zeghne that we used to do it in Sudan . can you publish the full real spices too make the berbere' at home . thank you

Looks yummy, thanks 😊
You tried but not good enough dorowot,
As good as this turned out. I will never make it again. It destroyed my digestive tract due to the amount of fat and onions used. It made the house smell terrible for a week. That's with cooking with the windows opened. Made me and my bf stink for days.
You probably burned it. That's on you.
@@fergiemcavoy9802 nothing was burned. This is not the first dish I've cooked. I think I know the difference between burned and not burned food. After cooking at home for 16 years.
Onions stink. You probably don't know that because you eat them frequently. But I assure you those around you know it smells bad. Onions are also hard to digest for some. Learn to use Google before you make a counter comment.
@Amanda fly, sorry you have digestive tract problem due the oil content. I am from Ethiopia and back home my mom and her sister used to cook doro wat and it was delicious. The way they cooked the chicken was with less oil and the Berbere (hot pepper) was in moderation. Maybe that could be better for you. Anyway, Chef Lola did a good job in cooking Ethiopian food and she also knows how to cook East Indian and Middle East food!!
My lord -- yer a terrible person. Try to be better. I think you need more onion and garlic in yer diet to absorb all the toxicity within you.
