I was shopping at a Cabela's store in Avon, Ohio, USA and spotted a man wearing a Dangar Marine T shirt. We chatted about how much we enjoyed the channel. :)
My man... You are obviously busting your ass. Dont sweat getting videos out. We will all be here after you are done. Toss a couple of coopers down and appreciate what you have accomplished.
@@DangarMarine,I think you were there when you got her mechanically sound, especially with the Detroit. Your just putting frosting on on her now, looks great!
I think it's a cultural difference, an Aussie just gets 'er done while a Kiwi has to dither about how to get 'er done. ;) You do know Brupeg is 3 times the boat and they were doing major changes to her while Stu is just bringing Renko back to a seaworthy state?
You realise Stu was full time on his boat for the last couple of years and Jess is disabled and Dame still works a full time job… as well as building Brupeg
Busy week for sure. Your the only one who can give me leg cramps, bumps on my head, and jar my back, while sitting in my easy chair. Watching you work makes me tired, I need a cold one now. You see what do us vewers?
You are forgiven for missing last weeks video. Very nice on how she has come together. I saw you on brewpeg and just wow on the antifowling sanding, what an awful dirty job to do.
Sitting here watching all the work that "what's left of Stu" has done...... I am exhausted! think I will take a nap..... and it's only 7:30. Renko now looks like a luxury boat.
When I used to sail the river boats in the Netherlands some 45 years ago we used to tie the flag (in this case the company flag as the Dutch flag was at the stern) to a long broom stick an then tied the line below the flag and at the bottom end of the stick (we had screws in the stick to prevent slipping) then just hoist it all to the top and then the flag would actually be above the top of the mast. A bit of a trick to get it all right the first time you did it, but it worked quite well. Keep up the video's, they bring back memories of my childhood years(1 to 6) when my parents and us kids were living near Sydney with my best memories from our final years in Collaroy Plateau.
I have dearly enjoyed watching you and Brupeg working side by side. Just mind boggling the amount of work both of you have accomplished. Hats off to you both. Renko is looking beautiful!!!!!!!
Thanks Dennis. I've really enjoyed being side by side too, sharing tools, sharing ideas lending eachother a hand from time to time. It has made things a lot more fun and really helped get things finished.
I love watching these videos as it motivates me to keeping working on my 1990 19ft 4.3 v6 powered speed boat. Always something to do to keep it going, and it can get tedious when really I just want to use the boat with the family. Fortunately when I watch stu work on renko I think, nah it’s not actually that much really, and I get my arse down to the boat yard and fix whatever needs fixing that weekend. Good system. 😀
What’s left of Dangar Stu!!! Perfect way to sum up how hard you’re all working. Renko is looking amazing and the thought and effort into all the mods from the bow roller for the winch to the new position of the gas bottle off the stern is amazing. I only hope that the original builder of Renko could see how well his original work has stood the test of time and appreciate all the time and effort you’ve put in to give Renko a wonderful new lease of life. So looking forward to seeing you on the water again. Enjoy a Coopers for me.
You put some serious work into the old girl and it shows. Boat looks amazing. Great job mate. Looking forward to some great experiences at sea on Renko.
Was great to see Renko looking finished although I know that is a false concept. Great shots of Renko and Brupeg together. All of you should be super proud. Not just the material achievements of the boats but the entertainment and learning you give us too. One complaint. Wearing my new Renko tee shirt in Vassiliki in Greece. A guy stopped me and said that it showed her blue which is the wrong colour, as she is grey. I told him he was an idiot....
"Whats left of Stu!" Haha. Almost spat out my tea right at the beginning of the vid. So funny. What a great amount of work accomplished so quickly. Been great seeing all of you together helping each other. Thank you!
6:03 FEKIN FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A boat with a relocated oil filter! Good to see SOME sanity from you Stu. 14:01 and the women all come running for that soot!
@3:16 - We used to live on Oahu, Hi and they burned sugar cane fields there too. Those were the days when all the field mice start scurrying. It's quite a spectacle to behold.
Give yourself an uppercut for leaving out last week's video....Naa just kidding ,we all know how hard you have to work on this project. Anybody who welds without shoes has gotta be tough. Many thanks for all the time you put in to produce these videos..Hey youtube quality content on this channel..
This HAS to be a labour of love-thé evolving beauty of Renko has certainly taken a lot of effort and ingenuity. Brupeg makes Renko look so small. Time to enjoy yourself.
Indeed, it sure has been more effort than I expected. Renko only looks small because it is. The Whittley Cruisemaster CR2800 is a trailer boat, and less than a foot shorter than Renko! Which makes me think I should get a trailer for it and make the new mast folding... ;)
Looking great Stew! "What's left of" had me laughing but I know the feeling well. It's worth it though, Renko is really looking excellent and you've fixed a lot of stuff. Almost there! 👍👍👍
You know at this point Stu, you could explain Renko in a nutshell to a layman as, " Well the hull is the same shape as when I picked her up.... more or less, but probably less" Haha. I mean the wheelhouse isn't even the same size as it used to be realistically, she is brand new! Your hard work is definitely about to reward you mate! Bloody well done 🍻 and I hope you both enjoy the next leg of the journey up north with your beautiful boat! Well deserved, we appreciate the effort you put in just to bring us along!
Renko looking sharp Stu. A lot of work but so worth while. Loved the coal miners out fit after doing anti fowling lol. You looked like me after a shift on the face cutting coal.
Yes, there is two really good days of owning a boat, the day you buy ti and the day you sell it. I once bought a new boat and then sold my old boat on the same day, That was a Great Day. Nice job on the painting, she is really starting to look good. Looking forward to seeing her Splash and then the trip North. Thanks for the memories, really glad I don't work on "average size" boats anymore, 20 years as marine sparky was enough, run-a-bouts for me from now on.
New paint job is a joy to see - gives a whole new elegant look to that boat ! Now time to enjoy the fruits of all your hard, dirty and expensive labour ! Happy sailing both of you.
G'day Stu I a miss over the months but I'm back subscribed and I have been watching the past videos she still looks and it will look very nice when you have finished I haven't been very well so I've got some catching up to do. I hope the girls are alright. Stay safe kind regards John
I've been watching your videos off & on since you started work on Renko. I love what you're doing and keep up the good work. I can't believe I hadn't subscribed as of yet. Done!
Renko looks fantastic! Very cool that you were able to be beside Brupeg. Such a beautiful and seaworthy looking yacht. Ugh! Wet sanding the bottom gave me flashbacks. I dry sanded the old bottom paint down to the original gelcoat with an air powered random orbital sander and it made blue dust. I looked like a Smurf! Have you thought about building spreaders into the new mast? I liked flying my flag, burgees and pennants from the spreaders. I like seeing your flag almost as much as my own country's flag flying, but then I'm from Texas. Australians and Texans seem to raft up a lot a big regattas. Same mindset.
Damien can laugh all he wants cause ur boats been in the water already and will be back in before his lol. Was wondering if ol Adrian was missin his cooper's draining buddy and then bam, he sends u a starter. Match made in detroit heaven. I've installed those monsters in international engines. Big ass heavy, awkward hunks of metal.Tell him hi from Texas USA. Great to see Renko almost done and really dig the new paint. I admire you and Damiens perserverance, huge undertaking basically ground up restoring a steel boat, well any boat for that fact. Good on ya'll!
Thank god for the paint I know everything has to come in order as I've been doing a home remodel all while living here there are things you need to keep the place operational so temporary accommodations and mods need to be in place and plans change as needs and finances change the final paint job indicates that all the major projects have been completed and it's just tinkering now while you begin to use the boat in earnest. It looks good I'm looking forward to additional videos coming up especially on seamanship and mechanical stuff.
When you first bought the boat I never thought it would reach the very high-quality level you have brought it to. It is something you will be able to show off with pride for some years to come.

That's very cool. :)
That’s so cool!
That's great. Wish we had Cabelas here in Aus
I have been to that store many times in Avon
Prior to watching your videos, I had thought that owning a steel boat would be a lot of work. Glad to see it's so carefree and easy.
Hahahahaha so easy. Just a quick weld
Piece o'cake innit
Stu has had nothing to do but laze by the pool on his holiday
Hard work, and loads of money. Both of which continue for the life of the boat.
Kinda like a high maintenance wife. Not sayin your's is 😉.
This episode reminded me of the line from "Behind Enemy Lines"....
"HOLY SH&T! WE'RE BEING PAINTED!!!!"
My man... You are obviously busting your ass. Dont sweat getting videos out. We will all be here after you are done. Toss a couple of coopers down and appreciate what you have accomplished.

Thanks mate, finally getting there!

@@Hoaxer51 She's gorgeous, but -- especially for a steel hull in salt water -- coatings aren't just frosting.
@@MargaretLeber, while I think what I said has some truth to it, what I said was tongue in cheek or an attempt at it.
Great job fixing up Renko twice in the time it’s taking team Brupeg to not finish once.

Hi Stu, that dark grey hull colour has taken 10 years off the age-look of the boat. I love it! Greetings for the UK btw.
I really like the new color scheme. Renko looks great! A far cry from when you first got her.
You have certainly cracked out the work during this haul out and Reno is taking shape nicely - and looking ‘spiffy’. Well done Stu.😀👍
