I work for T-Mobile and I can promise you One Plus Products are hands down a better quality phone. When it comes to materials and build. They are very underrated.

And their software and ecosystem are lacking behind Samsung. Their watch is terrible. So if you simply want a foldable that has good, not great software, OnePlus is a great option. If you want better software and an ecosystem, not so much

I know some Fold5 users that are ready to ditch it in favor of the Fold6. And I'm sure they will trade in again once the Fold 7 or 8 is available. Why would you keep it for 7 years? So you can see how many superior foldables has passed you by in terms of innovation? Samsung has gotten lazy with lack of competition. One Plus is a superior device with superior hardware. You didn't even cover the size of the front screen, the thickness, the visible crease of the Fold6. Instead of shooting to build something better than the One Plus Open (which was introduced last fall), Samsung decided to build upon the Fold5. To me, that's lazy. I have no idea why one would pay more to get less. I use to be a Samsung user. But they are clearly complacent and lazy.

I'm very impressed with the One Plus, but I'm sticking with my just arrived Fold 6, here's why:
    1) I absolutely dispise seeing a punch hole. Granted it's viewable on an angle in the inner Fold but it's not viewable like the OnePlus. I have ocd so it would drive me nuts seeing it all the time on the OnePlus.
    2) I got off nearly $1000 off the Fold 1TB model, so it's $250 cheaper then the 512GB One Plus. (Same trade in of a S21)
    3) Being these both are expensive, I want as much water protection as possible. The Fold 6 has that.
    4) I personally like Samsungs UI software better. Plus if I ever wanted to use a s pen I have that option.
    5) That bigger camera bump on the One Plus just lacks the sleekness of the Fold 6's smaller camera bump.
Plus I like the overall corner to corner sleeker profile of the Fold 6.
    6) The support from Samsung cannot be understated. I have returned many phones with zero problems. I just don't trust One Plus.
    7) The performance of the Gen 3 chip is just better on the Fold 6.
Now the One Plus has nice advantages such as 4GB more interal Ram, a bit more usable front screen, higher pixel counts on both screens, a larger internal screen, and a bigger battery with faster charging.
But overall the Fold 6 gives me more of what I need and prefer in a foldable.
Still Samsung must step up in the future with a more substantial upgrade to match its competitors.

1-punch hole is out the way in corner & superior camera.
2-temporary deals doesn't matter. My $1150 Samsung deal was similar to OnePlus Open $1000 deal at the time.
3-both have similar 3rd party warranty protection. Can't rely on manufacturers warranty.
4-samsung UI is appearance focused, while OnePlus UI is productivity focused with better multitasking. Also OnePlus Open has stylus ability on both screens with the Oppo Bluetooth stylus.
5-Samsungs tiny image sensors are 3-5yrs old technology. So you suffer with poor cameras. OnePlus Open has best cameras, and all new China phones have same round camera bump for superior cameras. Put a case onb& you won't feel the bump. Even iPhone & Google having larger squared bumps.
6-support is less importance when you don't have to return the phone. Samsung fold rated at 200,000 folds, while tested to 400,000. Meanwhile OnePlus Open tested to ONe MILLION folds.
7-the gen3 chip main improvement is said to have higher clocking ability. The problem is heat generated forces phones to throttle down to 8gen2 speeds. Phones with 8gen3 can be run to thermal shutdown in video game testing over 20min. The zFold6 will not run at full capacity of 8gen3 in order to save battery. The chip issue massively throttled down in video game testing. Only the vivo x3 pro was able to run the 8gen3 at full speed.
The OnePlus Open answered what Samsung users wanted so well that they could skip a year as their hardware was so far ahead. Since then, they optimized their software, and also have remote desktop substitute for Dex. It can add 12 more GB ram in settings to it's 16GB, giving 28GB RAM.
zFold6 still charges slower and doesn't last as long in battery. The reality is that zFold6 is still inferior. Once you go OnePlus Open, you don't go back. In January OnePlus Open 2 will finally put the nail in the coffin for Samsung.
I was a staunch Samsung user for two generations, then left to Pixel Fold, to finally give OnePlus Open a shot. Now I feel foolish for waiting a year.
Try it and free yourself from what appears to be fear based points numbered here.

thank you for sharing. That helps. I am in the market for a foldable and main use will be for work. I do IT for healthcare and want to be able to have the Stylus and more screen. Sure the one plus and its screen pixels and great pics would be awesome. But, I need mine to be able to stand up to being in Datacenters, dirty maintenance closets and using it as a mobile desk. It has to handle all the work I will punish it with. Not sure the one plus can do that for me. I've always had Samsung's from the S3 to my S22 Ultra...and their support has always been top notch.

    1) It's not out of my way. I cannot stand any notch or punch hole.
    2) Temp deals do matter as getting the 1TB Fold 6 for $250 less matters to me. ($1000 off)
    3) I trust Sansung as the return policy is extremely easy. And support is by far easier, from my experience.
    5) I'm not a photo junkie. I want comfortability and that huge circle bezel of lenses on the One Plus is annoying to grip.
    6) If you're trying to say the Gen 2 chip is equal in performance to the Gen 3, you must be on something.
Look, we all have preferences, and both foldables are not perfect, it's just a matter of preference.
That's awesome you support One Plus and enjoy their Fold version.
Samsung, like I mentioned needs to up their game now, to match the newer foldables.
But for now, I needed a foldable and I know damn well that Samsung will give me top credit for Fold the Fold 6 trade in, for a Fold 7 or 8.

I hear all these reviewers giving Samsung bad reviews. On this phone, but they're not stating why Samsung does what it does first of all, fast charging that high height speeds, you can damage the phone over time. The idea is to make it last
Also, the software updates you can't change the phone too much. Because it affects your ability to give it long-term software compatibility.
I do not understand why some of these reviewers are not making people understand if you make the phone bigger you almost have to rewrite some of the UI to accommodate the apps on the phone.

@AM-wi6zo I appreciate you for your input, But there has been many manufactures, like Samsung, who has shown that charging at high watts can damage your device over time. It does not charge as well. Overtime, and also you can heat up much faster that has not been fixed yet. They just know Americans can't wait. Long enough for anything

What is the point and the selling point in the 7 years of guaranteed security updates when the phone will be good to change in 4 years because it is obsolete or even worse, will start to fall apart? I managed to keep my Note 4 going for 7 years but you have to see the state of fatigue the device was in with ever more demanding applications even for a simple calculator and the fact of having had to change it at least twice the battery which was still removable at the time of these devices.
No, the 7 years warranty is not a selling point, it's a stupid catch, especially for phones that are even more fragile than those from the period because of their folding features.

    • @sokar813
      @sokar813 Месяц назад

It technically could be a selling point, if we have reached the point where phone hardware increments wont feel as massive. The battery could still be an issue, depending on chemistry and all, but it could be getting to a point where phones wont feel as slow as they age due to hardware not increasing as fast and being pushed as much.
