If Vivo had Samsung's software on the x fold I would buy it in a heartbeat. Viso's hardware anc camera processing and samsung's software would be unbeatable
Maybe it's on camera it's not quite how I saw them in person and the Samsung dulls before the Vivo but both do this in the sun. The Vivo outer screen was clearly duller than the Z Fold 6.
FYI: The 4 used a capacitive reader and could be used for gestures like pulling down the notification shade. The 5 and 6 switched to ultrasonic and lost that ability.
You wonderful bastard! I love seeing your videos on foldables ❤ I already purchased the Fold 6 and it wasn’t an easy choice but it felt like a safer experience than what I might get with Vivo software and support and accessories
Well you made the right choice by the sounds of it. The software is still the best on the Z Fold series compared to all the other foldables. It's the key area where Samsung holds their ground and hopefully continue to do so. But they must bring their hardware up to the rest as they are slipping.
@@Techtablets The software isn't even that far behind, like outside of screen customisation and AI there's little in the way Samsung leads. People would rather settle for less because it's "safer". They know that and so they give us an iterative update with a price increase. Insane..
7:40 the side mounted fingerprint scanner on the Fold 5/6 are actually ultrasonic now too, that's why they lost the swipe gesture for notification tray. My Z Fold 2 fingerprint scanner was terrible but my Z Fold 4 fingerprint scanner was pretty good. So I'm kinda worried about the Z Fold 6 fingerprint scanner
Do you happen to know how hardware support is for the Vivo overseas? My only worry is if something goes wrong, I'm SOL as opposed to the Fold that I can take to the nearby Samsung store.
Been a Samsung User since 2010 Had the S (1,2,4,8), had the Note (3,6,10,20) and took a chance during 2020 and got Fold 2 Been upgrading every year Even with all the cons, I don't think I'll ever switch back to a slab phone. Fold 3 had the best aspect ratio when opened. Up until now I had to carry another phone (S21U with a cracked screen) on my vacations just to be able to film 4k60fps with the ultrawide camera (and 10xzoom was great) When I have to use someone else's phone (S22/23/24 Ultra) it feels so weird and the screen feels to wide. No way for me to use it with one hand. That's why I love the Fold - the narrow screen for the one-handed use (I know there is a one-hand mode on the S as well) But when I unfold it, the screen Real estate is amazing - maps, shopping, reading news, yt and comments at the same time, etc. Don't care about the battery and charging speed since I never had an issue with it. The only thing Fold 6 should've done is be as tall as the Fold 3. Because I don't want 1:1 square when opened but a 4:3 rectangle. Thanks for reading, cheers
Comparing the dimensions online, Fold 6 has a 1mm wider chassis when closed compared to Fold 3. The wider cover hasn't affected the size that much thanks to thinner bezels, so there's that to look forward to when upgrading at some point.
Funny enough, it's why I stuck with the Fold line despite the drawbacks. I actually prefer the narrow display for daily use. The on handed usability has spoiled me to where I have a hard time using my partner's phone.
A lot of people don't seem to understand how the narrow screen of the Z Fold series, truly makes you feel like you have two different devices for two different situations. A narrow one-handed outer display for quick tasks and scrolling, and then the bigger inner display for content consumption and multi-tasking. The foldables with the wider outer displays like Pixel Fold and OnePlus Open, you're less likely to want to open them and use the inner display, because of the width of the outer display.
@@Super-c00n the wide folded phones or tall narrow are very uncomfortable in my pocket. I was tired of the S2x lineup because of that: I had to take them out to sit comfortably! Now with the iPhone 15 Pro Max I have zero issues. It's funny because there isn't an appreciable dimensions difference but yes in my pocket... I also appreciate the more square screens (iPhone, iPad, surface pro) instead the extra wide/tall aspect ratios.
You have to be smoking Crack with that take. Samsung loves customers like you. It's the main reason why they haven't been updating their foldables. They know you're going to support them regardless of their lack of innovation 🤷
The software and AI of the Chinese version of vivo xfold3pro are very easy to use. I didn't expect the international version to be so different. The vivo office software makes it very convenient to interact with the phone and transfer files between PC and Mac. Especially the transfer of files, photos and videos with Mac and the mirroring display on Mac, these functions are almost the same as iOS18.

Dont suppose you could do a follow-up video on the hinges of all your fold type phones so far. Would be nice to compare the hinges/screen after a year or 2 just to see who’s lasted better.
It wouldn't really prove anything anyway because you would have to have used each one of them as your daily driver for the past 2 years and that's obviously impossible

OriginOS Chinese version does have this and a gallery that has AI features the Funtouch OS is lacking most of it sadly. Software is miles better on the Z Fold 6.
Interesting art you going to keep that X100 Ultra as you’ll miss those cameras. As good as the X fold 3 Pro cameras are they fall short of the X100 Ultra.
4:27 Unfolding your foldable phone and the flip phone should emit a low, unique sound and vibration. Not a sound that is too loud 🔊. And it shouldn't draw or attract too much public attention, but it's loud enough to symbolise luxury. I also believe that a mechanical switch is needed to lock the foldable in tablet mode, as also with the flip phone in phone mode. Such mechanical switch will retain that nostalgic feeling of having a traditional tablet because it can't close or fold back into the phone mode by any unnecessary means. Let's say that you want to show someone something in tablet mode, but you don't want them to close or unfold the tablet mode, the mechanical switch will prevent it from happening. The mechanical switch will be useful on the flip phones as well.
TBH the fold 6 looks more elegant IMO. I also love the fact it's a bit smaller. The Vivo looks like it'll take up too much space in a pocket. Also love the simpler look of the camera. Hello, love the video thank you but I do have a question. In your conclusion , you said you don’t need the stylus and not desktop mode which in my opinion is the main reason you would want t foldable. In that case I feel like foldable are not for you that’s all ? What you think ? Thanks again
I would disagree I use my foldables as tablets on the go I can fold and carry with me. I use it for notes for my videos, web sites, sided by side screens. Plus typing on the inner screen is great I prefer it over normal phone screens. And if I'm waiting for my wife or kids I might even game a little on the larger screen. But yes I barely use my S24 Ultra stylus and desktop mode rarely nowadays.
I never had issues until I hit record I decided to keep that in as it seemed it glitched out on me. My thumb must have been fine as the X Fold 3 Pro didn’t have issues. I put it down to some random glitch with the reader.
Vivo hardware, cameras and battery are impressive. But the refinement we're (finally) getting on Samsung Fold 6 is why I ordered the 6. I prefer the slightly more compact design. It's truly easy for one hand use and looks even more balanced now. While cameras are good I'm still bummed by lack of truly great cameras. At this price point the Fold 6 should be rocking Samsung's best cameras. We'll see what the rumored Ultra model brings to the table.
If Samsung ever did that they would cannibalize their S24 ultra phone. Foldable phone aren't meant for photography more like productivity and entertainment
@@Tmr2001 LOL. Definitely wish battery was bigger. I had the Z Fold 3 and currently have Z Fold 4. Battery is not an issue for me. Generally lasts me all day unless I'm using heavily. When that happens I plug in towards end of day for 15-20 minutes and I'm back up to 80%.
@@Skinnypole_clara I don't think so. Not everyone likes or wants a Fold. Some prefer a traditional candy bar style large format or smaller format screen. The biggest reason it will never cannibalize the S Ultra is price. I know many who just flat out will never spend $2k or more for a phone so they can both coexist as flagships with cameras to match their top of line status. If the Fold Ultra ever releases I think we will finally see that. And chances are the Fold Ultra will elevate the price even further. Yikes. And I will be first in line to buy it. LOL
Great info as always! The part about thermal is especially helpful! One suggestion - don't compare the speakers at max level, they all sound like they're about to die, not representable for a real world usage.
Okay noted and a few years back I tested 80% volume and everyone was complaining it wasn't fair and around 4 years ago the twitter vote just won at max volume. So I stuck with what the people wanted. I agree with you however!
@@Techtablets That's understandable, maybe you can extend that part giving both options or even opinion on that. I'd choose a track and turn up the volume to the max undistorted volume for each. For most its not more than 80%, but average consume maybe don't care? Is that possible with phones sounding that bad at 100%?
Vivo X Fold 3 wins HANDS DOWN !!! Samsung fold series has become a complete JOKE!!!! Why can't Samsung simply put two Samsung S24 Ultra Displays together to give us a fold??? And then use a third S24 Ultra display for the cover screen and the same camera system from the S24 Ultra and the built in S Pen in a Fold factor????? Samsung literally has all the hardware and software to make it happen and they don't need to reinvent anything new.
That would be WAY too big and heavy. I love the fold form factor. I've upgraded every year since the launch model. Their software is still worlds better than any other foldable.

Software, software & security updates, trade-in and local resell value, local support, brand presence in terms of stores and repair shops, etc. Is what keeps me with the fold. Sure trade in value of any foldable is terrible. But good luck finding a place that will trade in a chinese phone. Also, you may find more places that take samsung trade ins and provide trade in boosts. Regular software updates can't be overlooked. I remember when samsung was bad with that and everyone complained about it. Now that they are among the best, no one seems to care about updates. Local support when your phone gets damaged is also important. I am not saying Samsung support is the best, but at least you will get there eventually. I hesitate to believe the Chinese phones will do better in this regard. You may pay less for a chinese phone, but i often get samsung insurance packaged for one year free. Granted, i have not owned a chinese phone. But i get the idea that to get the best value from it, you will have to keep it 2 to 3 years because you will likely struggle to sell it for an acceptable price, you then require regular security and software updates. I agree that the hardware seems far superior. But, personally, i need the other elements as well.
Vivo too massive imo. Fold 6 is my preference, size is just right for me. Though i also wish for more battery capacity on the fold. Maybe a tad thinner? And updated cameras in general although i could care less. But yeah size wise it is perfect.

I don't agree that Vivo has better screens especially in the sun at 10:49 and 11:21, and Vivo's white just turns into gray
Maybe it's on camera it's not quite how I saw them in person and the Samsung dulls before the Vivo but both do this in the sun. The Vivo outer screen was clearly duller than the Z Fold 6.
Vivo paid him to say that.
Funny that people never tried a Vivo foldable and said Samsung is better😂

I used to have the Fold 4. The fingerprint reader was very very good. I actually liked having it on the button. Funny it didn't work here.
it was strange but I think a glitch as a few seconds later it worked.
FYI: The 4 used a capacitive reader and could be used for gestures like pulling down the notification shade. The 5 and 6 switched to ultrasonic and lost that ability.
@@nickthaskater damn that's a bummer, I loved those gesture features
I've been having issues with the reader on the z6. But the z3 never had one
@@Tavohl Wow interesting
You wonderful bastard! I love seeing your videos on foldables ❤
I already purchased the Fold 6 and it wasn’t an easy choice but it felt like a safer experience than what I might get with Vivo software and support and accessories
Insane..
Very good video. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
@@Accuaro Just curious are you going to get one of the wider Chinese foldable?
@@tafb94force29 I have one, it's the Oneplus Open. I also have the Z Fold 5.
So I'm kinda worried about the Z Fold 6 fingerprint scanner
don't worry the fold 5 is good. So guess the fold 6 is good too.
Do you happen to know how hardware support is for the Vivo overseas? My only worry is if something goes wrong, I'm SOL as opposed to the Fold that I can take to the nearby Samsung store.
The global version will be local support.
Another incredible comparison, ty mate ! You know you have a super thorough video when it comes down to a discussion of the haptics :) !
Been a Samsung User since 2010
Had the S (1,2,4,8), had the Note (3,6,10,20) and took a chance during 2020 and got Fold 2
Been upgrading every year
Even with all the cons, I don't think I'll ever switch back to a slab phone.
Fold 3 had the best aspect ratio when opened.
Up until now I had to carry another phone (S21U with a cracked screen) on my vacations just to be able to film 4k60fps with the ultrawide camera (and 10xzoom was great)
When I have to use someone else's phone (S22/23/24 Ultra) it feels so weird and the screen feels to wide. No way for me to use it with one hand.
That's why I love the Fold - the narrow screen for the one-handed use
(I know there is a one-hand mode on the S as well)
But when I unfold it, the screen Real estate is amazing - maps, shopping, reading news, yt and comments at the same time, etc.
Will you be comparing against OnePlus Open? Thanks!
Hmm maybe 🤔 But the Magic V3 later in the year when the global version is out.
I'm not regretting my switch from the fold 4 to the OnePlus open, glad I didn't wait for the fold 6.

@@Techtablets if auto is off, extra brightness only allows 700 nits of pure white screen. If auto is enabled it will be around 1400 nits (when outside)
I was interested in the Vivo but the lack of stylus pushed me back to Samsung. Also for stylus users - my stylus form the Fold 4 works perfectly with the Fold 6. I appreciate Samsung for that.
But you can't carry the stylus in the Samsung which makes this ability less useful to me.
@@fatphoca5009So buy the vivo x pro 3 then
@@fatphoca5009you clearly haven't follow the Z Fold brand. There's an official Fold 5 case for it where you can snap on the stylus.

But oh well, it's all a matter of taste.
My only main complaint of the fold 6 is the battery and charge time. They really should have improved that...
In the age of phone charging to full in half hour, samsung still gives us 1 hour+ charging and for more price to boot 😅
My 6.7 inch Pixel 7 Pro fit in my pocket just fine before I got the Z Fold 5. I presume the Vivo phone wouldn't have trouble either
More elegant? Agree
But I don't think fold users are people who care about how much the phone takes space in the pocket.

@@Skinnypole_clara I don't think so. Not everyone likes or wants a Fold. Some prefer a traditional candy bar style large format or smaller format screen.
Now thats what i call an unbiased review. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
First on RUclips! Vivo > Samsung, Vivo also has AI eraser on photo editor
Doesn't samsung have a similar object eraser and ai delete as well?
@@Udayveer_Singh yes, but actually Chinese branded phone was the first one to equip this feature, Samsung just announced it like a big thing
I like the transparency. New sub here. Keep it up
Thank you!
Fold6 look far better tho :))))
No 😂
Disagree
By a mile. Vivo is super ughly
Thanks for making the video
At 13.07 in, I I love your "oh, shit. Take 2" moment!! 😂😂
😂😂😂 whoops that is being cut out now RUclips just hasn't updated it yet.
😁
I am still waiting for a built-in spen and a 5x camera on the samsung fold...
VIVO X FOLD 3 PRO 🤗❤️❤️ BIG LOVE
Love the accent... SAMSANG ❤
Thanks most people hate my NZ accent 😂
@@Techtablets absolutely NOT. Great accent!!!!
Vivo too massive imo. Fold 6 is my preference, size is just right for me. Though i also wish for more battery capacity on the fold. Maybe a tad thinner? And updated cameras in general although i could care less. But yeah size wise it is perfect.
Same opinion 👍
It is big but you get use to it like the original Note from Samsung.
Curious, does Facebook app rotate in inner display? It doesn't in honor magic v2 global rom.
Samsung more reliable software
That's correct and monthly updates and 7 years worth (should be on the list at the end)
@Techtablets sadly, I don't think the inner screen will last that long. On Facebook marketplace, ebay and local sales the foldables have always a fully or partial broken screen.
@@TechTroppymaybe that’s because people don’t want their broken screens anymore so they’re selling it? Tons of good condition z folds on ebay
