I'm thankful for people like you. Starting my business at age 20 and I'm planning on doing this
Stan you the man! Im in Mexico for vacation and i started thinking about when i go back home and all the new projects that will come. Myself having no experience in pavers but like they say you wont ever learn tell you try... I'm laying in bed and started to kinda freak out becuase of the lack of experience but after seeing this video, boy i cant wait to come back and start bidding and tackling projects. We are so lucky to have the technology we have and to have such amazing people like yourself to take out the time to make these videos and i greatly appreciate it. I feel sorry for those who dont put in the effort and try. Literally everything is on the internet it just takes a little work and time. Ive spent countless hours watching your videos and are amazing! Really love how you explained the amount of materials, pricing and the daily Tips! All of this I right down or save in my youtube folders. Again thank you for the great videos! Hope all is well and for and amazing year!!!💪💪
Thank you so much Jose for the great comments and thank you for all the support. It's great to have you here and best of luck in all your projects!
Great video Stan! I appreciate your how to videos this one reminds me of the humor we try to have on our job sites!
Wow!!!. I learned more in this video than the 2 day ICPI HNA course. Great stuff Stan!!!!
Awesome! Thank you!
I liked the video 12 seconds in, I'm that confident in your ability to get me to like a video.
Thank you for the cost break down! Subscribed just because of your thoroughness!
I'm in the process of deconstructing my old (Concrete) deck now, and will be utilizing the Allen Blocks
Very cool!
Nice touch with the humor- adds character to the demos.
Great video! All the info helps a bunch, thanks and God Bless!
Thank you !
I have watched and enjoyed a lot of your videos ,it did feel as if you were in a joking mood and for me that was very entertaining and more personable
Super glad I found this channel. Hysterical but lessons still come through. Sometimes over Zane shows like bill Nye or Schoolhouse rock(remember and love those?) trouble is, we all know the song but can’t use conjunctions properly to save our lives. Don’t underestimate the art in this production.
Hey buddy your videos are so inspiring to me as I can not afford to have a company come into my yard and do the work.
Now I just need to take the slow plunge into a paver patio for my family to enjoy for the years to come.....
Again THANK YOU!!!
Awesome- Hope it helps out!
Fantastic video and great tips! Thank you.
You certainly are fun to watch! Thanks for all your teaching!
Aw that's awesome to hear 😀 Thanks for watching!
I've been researching how to build my own flagstone patio for a while now and your videos are so F'ing good.
fantastic video. interesting informative and entertaining. thankyou
Can you go back and describe the column and fire pit install with pavers, steps and lighting please. thanks we install Belgard and have the best demonstration area for pavers in albuquerque NM. Cheers from Osuna Nursery
Awesome Video!! Thanks to you, DM and thanks to Belgrade!
Thanks Charlton!
Great informative video showing how a contractor would get the job done. If you are a DIY homeowner you are in for a surprise as to how much hand labor is involved. Excavation of an 8’ x 10’ area broke my back as it was clay. Filled an compacted using 1-1/2 yds of #411 crushed limestone. I did not have enough to totally finish the 4” thick base. So, I bought bags of paver base from my local home center. Not good. It did not have the same distribution of aggregate as the #411 limestone. Lesson learned. Compacting this small 8’ x 10’ area trapped on two sides with walls was a challenge as even the smallest 14” vibratory plate compactor could not be maneuvered into the corners. BUT it did an excellent job compacting the base. Next was installing bags of paver sand and screeding using 3/4” PVC pipe as described. Found that every time I stepped on the paver sand, I made a mess and had to cover my tracks numerous times. My sand base had to be pitched in two directions, making it difficult to keep the sand flat. I used the click and set method as described but found that many of my paver bricks were either too high or two low. Many paver brick height corrections required, arg. I was not going to rent the plate compactor again to save $$$. But in watching your video presentation I see the value in using this tool. Contractors have the skills, tools and experience needed for a job like this. I wish DIY homeowners lots of luck. You’re gonna bust your hump. Oh, am not done yet as I have slope to contend with and cannot install plastic edging into soft ground. Not sure of a solution here. I plan on using a length of 1/4” thick x 8” wide steel plate supported with rebar pins driven into the earth on the back side to support the paver bricks on this edge, or else they would just move down the slope without edge support. Don’t be stubborn like me thinking that you can do it all by yourself. Get some quotes from experienced contractors and consider total cost and your options. I NEVER expected my small job to be so much hard work.
Awesome video with so much fast information. Need more of this
keep up the grate work I love you videos I get a lot of valuable information out of them thank you keep it up James Youngblood
Appreciate that!
love the channel thanks for posting. Jokes are fun too tx
This was awesome thanks.
Watching it made me think I might actually be better forking out to get my work done professionally.
I'm not confident I would get a result this high quality and don't have much in terms of tools aside from a shovel and barrow.
Maybe underestimating myself but not sure :/ definitely not shy of hard labour but this looks fairly technical
I wish people were more like you my friend...!
Thanks for the tip about not going to deep on sand, didnt even think of that
good job I always learn something watching your videos
Thank you!
Id really like to see a patio restoration. Cleaning weeds or mold in joints, and doing some repair on sunken pavers. Maybe even applying a sealer when done with restoration!
Great idea!!
Pull them up, reset the base. Relay the pavers
Thanks for an awesome video!
Thanks for watching!
Very informative, thank you and wish me luck.
after 4 different companies quoted me $13,500-$15,000 for a patio that would not include a seating wall n smaller than I actually wanted i decided to risk it n do it myself. Spent $3000....n now i have a great patio.
Spartacus 14 lets see a pic of it
omg do u have pic im plan on making my own too.
Well done having the courage to do the jump. Thinking of doing it myself. How hard actually was it. Was there anything that I should look out for doing it myself.
@chuck dalvin I DIY so I can have a boat payment :)
Jeff Weaver that was just unnecessary .
More of similar projects! Awesome!
Dude... I love that bird interuption.....that was funny !! great channel !!!
I always like new videos on how to build retaining walls
Very cool!
Great video,Right on the money
Stanley - its been awhile since I've watched your videos. This one was very entertaining.
Awesome!
I'm currently working on doing my own paver patio (all by myself). I've already dug out the existing dirt. I'm working on laying some 4" drain pipe...then I'm going to run some electrical and 3/4 sprinkler pvc while everything is dug out. I'm not going to be using the retainer edging...but I'm going to pour a 6" wide retainer wall to keep everything locked in.
Great video, information and humor!
Thank you !
Make one for when and where to use different retaining walls!
Cool idea!

This guy is entertaining and informative; very good
Great video, thanks for sharing!! The birdy part was indeed scary, way more than using that big concrete saw close to your tip toes...
I clicked "like" after only 3 minutes because you guys made me laugh a number of times on a stressful day.
awesome! Thanks man- glad it made you laugh!
Cool video bro!
Great info.. thank you! Btw.. you have awesome pets..
Thank you Jorge!
Belgard is a thick good looking product. I Work at Lowes, hardly any breakage on the pallets I’ve sold.
I have been working on my patio for a while now it is 16' x 44' with a 16' circular area off the center where the fire pit will be, which makes the patio 30' deep at it farthest point. My yard is sloped so I had to install a retaining wall around the perimeter, I decided to have a couple steps down from the main patio to the fire pit area so the edge of the fire pit area would not be 3' off the yard surface at its highest point. I've used close to 30 yards of crusher run and I am currently working on leveling it out to the correct level before the sand base which is proving to be one of the more challenging parts of the project. Some areas only required 4" to bring the level up to the required height and others required 12-16" which I have been compacting about every 4" added and if it was going to be that deep I used 3/4 stone first then added the crusher run on top of that. I also added a drain pipe around the inside of the retaining wall where it was higher than 18". I don't have a bobcat so how would you recommend leveling out the crusher run layer. I have a grading rake, hand tamper, standard yard tools and a plate compactor available for use but that is about it.
Nice video!
Laughing and learning, subscribed!
I really enjoy your videos!!!
Thank you!
Damnit - just finished putting in over 1000 sqft of pavers myself and these videos would have helped me figure things out without pulling together info from about six or seven sources. The job turned out great, no issues at all. Did it myself - took 8 weeks of nights and weekends for demo, site prep, and full installation for me.
Enjoy the videos, Stan!
I have a about 1400 square feet in my very near future, I am dreading it ( just don't want to mess it up) but there were a lot of helpful bits in this video that I have not heard elsewhere but seem to be useful tips.
Stan glossed over it very quickly, but site prep is key. if you do that right, the actual setting goes very quickly. My 8 weeks was mostly demo, building a small retaining wall, and site prep. The paver install was two weekends.
Thanks Jason!
Very cool Chris- Good luck!
Love this guy. Cracks me up
Thanks Alan😎
Nice work
Great video Stanley!
Thank you!👍
Thank you so much for this video. My husband and I started a small business two years ago and have decided to expand into hardscaping. This video is very informative. We had the basics, but your information gives us the nuts and bolts to do an excellent job for our customers. Where are you located in the U.S.? We are in the Northeast, and want to price accordingly to our location. Thanks again!
Hi Stanley, I really appreciate your great videos! I'm learning so much from you! Do you have any advice on how to get the right kind of crushed rock for a patio base? It seems like the lingo used to describe it can vary quite a bit depending on who you're talking to. I want to make sure I get the right stuff, but am having a hard time finding a tutorial that says exactly what will and won't work.
Thanks for the great content. Would you break down the 12-15K estimate? You spoke of material... what is your overhead % and profit % on a couple day project?
Great video!!
Thank you!
I used to work Concrete and Waterproofing. We laid down 4x8 sheets of plywood the whole length of where any machine would be running. Afterwards, you just pick them up and you're done. No re-sodding with a different color grass needed. Now my back is shot so I'll be paying someone like you to do my patio, lol.
Just got mine done for $11,880.00 I got 4 quotes all between $12-$15K just like he said. Except I had one asshat who tried to get over on me and quoted me $27,000. Dude was a real slime ball and you could sense it a mile away, lol. Great video man, thanks.
All About Boxing 20 years ago I would have built all that for $8,000 (materials included).
nice video
Great video. I have installed a number of walk ways with a running bond pattern. I cant find any videos from you on laying a more random pattern. I would love to see something on how to lay something like an "I" pattern for tumbled pavers. I am building a lakeside patio and your help would be appreciated.
Good suggestion Mike, thank you !
LMAO We left our plow on till may too. That was to funny.
😃👍
your videos are awesome 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
Hi Stan, Love your channel and thank you for putting out valuable information. I have a question on a patio installation. I am installing Cambridge Ledgetone pavers. My patio area is 18' X 32' . 18'X12' out of the 18'x32' is an existing concrete slab that is level. In order to achieve a one inch drop per 8' towards the one end I would have to raise the other end by 2 inches or so. Should I use paver base and sand on top of the existing concrete to slope away or should I pour a thin layer of concrete/ self leveler and tapper it from 2 inches to 0 inches over 16 ft? What would you recommend? Thank you for your feed back.
-Romeo
thank you I have been waiting for a decent patio installation Video 👍
Hope it helps!
thank you very much for all your advice I see that you are Hispanic in your business thank you I hope you are a good boss as well as I see that you are blessings
You are very welcome! Thanks for the support

i enjoyed watching this even though i may never lay patio
Patio cover
yea man
Thanks Eduardo!
I love where it's just sand. How do I get started?
i respect the suddle flex with the old school Supergoose
Great video
Thank you and thanks for watching !
Few questions, how do we determine the depths? The paver depth plus the one inch sand plus the 6 inch sub base? Also how do we calculate the slope for drainage correctly and how is that done? And how would I install drainage in a project like that? Lastly how do we get and keep the lines in the pavers straight on lager projects? Thanks for you help?
Good luck homeowner , you will need it !
hey my lil walkway when rain fall like for a day ...I see a lil water comin out of the edge of the walkway concrete edge .any ideas on this or how can I fix this?
I've determined i have to dig 7 3/8 for patio (4" roadbase + 1" sand + 2 3/8 Belgard Cobble) on a 15'x15' patio does that mean if I slope it 2" I need to dig 1" more every 8 feet?
My jigga I literally just needed this
Awesome!
Stan, I'm installing a paver walkway in my front yard that leads up to a concrete pad at the front door. I've got 4" base, 1" sand, and 2.375" for the paver depth, so I'm starting with my compacted dirt 7.375" below the top of the concrete pad...how much settling (if any) should I expect when running a compactor over the installed pavers? I want to plan ahead to prevent the front lip of the concrete pad from sticking up above the level of the first paver row touching it, creating a trip hazard. Thanks!
I'm building a 15' X 15' patio and curving the edges at 13 feet mark. Will you please reconfirm the slope needed for this? Will you do a video just explaining the slope and the strings that help determine laying down each layer. Thanks!
I would like to know what you do when a Downspout, comes down to where you are putting the pavers, and the best way to Get the right slope on paver patio
great job. .
How long would it take for the polymer sand to start breaking? I think I’d rather add sand every year instead and not have to eventually redo the whole patio because the polymer sand cracked deep in between the stones..awesome video btw!
surprised that you didn't put plywood down for the skid loader.
so you didn't have to sod the yard.
fun question does the hound go nuts with a fox around?
what sod cutter do you use?
like Ryan but got a new bluebird and that is hands down a better unit over the Ryan. less operator fatigue with the bluebird.
The hound loves the fox. 👍😃
Hello👋🙋♂️ there once again
Amazing and very interesting video🎥 Super like👌👌👌 project
Great information and very helpful as always👍
Do keep posting
Warm regards and👍💯 best wishes

Make a training video for laying the borders, making cuts, and tips for setting the screed rails at right height, that part always takes us hours to do! Would be greatly appreciated haven't seen a good video for any of those yet
Question, this is the second video regarding pavers that i've watched and in both at the end it appears as hay or straw is on one or all of the outer egdes... why is that?
Did you use any water during compacting? Or just dry pack? When I am graveling a back road, we would water it down, ( not heavy ) then proceed with a drum packer.
Do you ever need to put geo textile fabric between the compacted class 5 and the 1” layer of sand?
When you price out a project like this, what range of prices per square foot do you use for the patio, the seat wall, and the columns? Most of the quotes I get for paver patios are between $10 and $17 per square foot, but maybe pricing is different for walls and columns?
Pacific Northwest it rains a lot. Will this work under a deck? I have a day light basement with a deck up on the first floor. I am wondering if the water from the deck will mess with the joints.
Stan, what is the most cost effective way to build a patio/porch? Concrete, pavers or a wood deck?
and 15K later you have a nice patio!!!!
Hey guys / girls ,how much do you think the compacting will lessen the 8 inches of base and 1 inch of sand? the pavers I intend to use are about 2.5" for a driveway. I was thinking dig 12" * HPB compacted 1"sand and the paver.
What brand of Poly sand do you typically use? That and where do you work, what state?
Wow....awesome... I want to do this by my self... any tips? Lol... or just good luck? :-P
You had me at ‘rescued baby fox from a fur farm’. 🥰🥰
Thanks Jessica and thanks for watching !
Awesome video series, my only question when you coming to do mine.
Wade Knelsen 😂
LOL-be there in the morning😃
By the way, I saw some comments about the unnecessary humor breaks. I thought it was excellent all around including the humor. Well done.
Thank you so much, Stanley. You're a stand up guy!
Thank you , much appreciated !
You should have channeled Mickey Rouke from Ironman 2. I want my bird!
Can you refer a team that could come install this back patio (possibly on a smaller scale) and an addition to a drive way in the same manner this was done but with different pavers for the drive way, in Augusta GA?
Thanks for the video, this one and the rest. I'm slowly starting landscaping myself and use your videos and advice for guidance, really appreciate your work!
Like the vids, what is the bramd name of the clip-on system used for the patio wall seats ?
Hi Stanley, are you planing to have any update video on your 1700 gallon Aquarium? :-) Love your channel!!!
Yes- over the winter
