Shonen Knife talk 35 years of pop punk and new album Adventure

- The legendary Japanese pop punk band Shonen Knife is currently on their 35th Anniversary U.S tour. While in Chicago they spoke with Jill Hopkins about their 20th studio album, Adventure, and their 35 years as a band.
I've been a Shonen Knife fan since the early nineties, but just saw them live for the first time earlier this month (October 2016) when they kicked off their US tour in San Diego. So many fun songs. Hope they keep going for a long time.

Atusko is the most friendly rock star I have ever met. She is very genuine...and still sells all the merch for the band. I would, just once, like to see Michie come back, even if it is only for one song. I also wish Etsuko, Ritsuko, and Emi would come back. I think Shonen Mates is a great backup band. Naoko is brilliant for keeping the band together for 35+ years now.

Great interview, it's still kind of weird seeing Naoko do most of the talking now, Michie used to be the most fluent during the 90's. but its so cool to see Atsuko back for the time being.
I like the current line up, that's not a slight on previous members, they have each bought something to SK. In fact I was worried that Risa wouldn't be able to follow in Emi's footsteps but she's more than capable.
Omaru1982 Risa is damn amazing. Just saw them last night and she was a machine.
saw them at the Ottobar gig, and *shakes head*, the girl is an absolute machine as you put it. And a real sweetie, gave me a big smile, as did Naoko after the gig at the merch table.
Risa just may have been the happiest person in the city that night.

I think Risa is great. I've seen them live three times with three different line-ups and this one is my favorite. I LOVE that Atsuko is playing bass now.
Risa is basically a controlled explosion in a dress. And she has a perpetual grin that is wider than her actual head. She signed my £10 note (only bit of paper I had) and it is the most precious thing to me

Naoko is 56 years old
...and, I am 67-years old and still rockin' my Fender Japan Jazz Bass and singing.
I wonder what Michie is up to nowadays.
