Hi, I have been looking for a video that shows many things that cause the problematic starting, I have done EVERYTHING apart from the head gasket and timing check as I hoped professionals would get that right, but I am going to have a look at mine at the weekend. Thank you very much!!
yes the wires are on that MAF sensor from front to back battery voltage, then the voltage from the sensor normally about 1.95 volts and increases on revs as the flow of air increases, then the earth It's basically 2 heated resistors which give a tap off in the middle wire
Hi mate thanks for your great video you are a Legend 💪🫡, Wanna ask you , my td5 it takes few seconds to take off when I stop at the traffic light and I need to give my paddle down more to let it go then back to normal only when I stop to zero and need to move this happens , dose that mean my timing is out ? Fuel injector harness loom changed and fuel pressure regulator changed and I add in it some silicon to stop oil passing through harness loom to ECU , no more oil, but it keeps same ? What do you think? Cheers Matt
You are 100% correct. It could very easily been a bad crank position sensor. I have found (if not picked up by an OBD scanner) the rev counter stay completely still when cranking if there's a bad sensor.
Is hy manual of auto?
Yes. The previous owner sold me the car in that condition after they did a head gasket replace on the car. They must've removed the cam sprocket to drop the chain for the head removal.
Excellent work. Your persistence paid off handsomely and now you've got yourself an excellent car probably for a bargain price.

Well done I'm watching your video a year later and in the market buying a TD5
Thanks very much
Good useful information for the years ahead 😜
Thanks for the feedback Allan! Td5s are awesome. Hope you find the the right one!
Man talk about true workmanship kudos bro
Thank you sir!

Great stuff! I'm glad if the video helps. Hope you come right!
great video. Ill keep this a favourite in case I ever need to do my head gasket
Thanks man! Glad if it helps.
They do a timing pin kit for the TD5, take away the guesswork, but well done for manaing without it!
Thank you! That is good to know about the timing kit because I was totally clueless.
Drill bits are great for this job, if I bought the special tools for every vehicle I see through my shop I'd be broke.
It pays to be persistent sometimes, well done.
very nice. I love the TD5. Great vid and well done
Thanks! I also enjoy the TD5 very much!
What a nice video, thank you for the clear explication!!!

Great and mindfull work, congrats

afloje las tuercas de la polea de leva para ajustar
@@BroughBuilt Muchas gracias
Soluciónado el problema gracias
Thanks friend you helped me find a problem
my first guess would have been a bad Crank Position Sensor (if they are used on a diesel ?)

mooi video ek is amper besig om n TD5 te koop hy wil net in limp mode ry? enige voorstelle?

Hî, do you know why the camshaft was off? What make him sleep?
The previous owner replaced the head gasket after overheating caused from a burst water pipe
Hello! .... I have a similar problem with a Defender TD5. Is it possible to adjust the chain without removing the front engine cover? Thanks.
Hi there. Yes you should be able to adjust the chain timing by only removing the tappet cover. As long as you can reach the cam sprocket...
@@BroughBuilt thank you
Great video! Very informative! Cheers
Thank you for the reply. Are you also struggling with a similar problem? Hope this video helped. Cheers
Thanks mate I'll do mine now
How did this happen, someone did a head gasket and never timed it proper ,?
Yes. The previous owner sold me the car in that condition after they did a head gasket replace on the car. They must've removed the cam sprocket to drop the chain for the head removal.
