You know, in 2020 my gf broke up with me and I was effectively homeless at age 18 as I was living with her mom. Well, she got kicked out because of how she treated me so in some twisted humor, we had to rely on each other. First weeks? Absolutely annoying and irritating but we couldn’t just leave each other. So we’d get water out of the sprinklers (And people’s hoses, don’t worry a couple months back I gave some money anonymously as thanks) and we came across your channel in the homeless shelter. We’d help some locals, bring in minimum wage money to eat, get blankets and some warm clothing. Your channel? Is an absolute beacon for those struggling, I’m sitting here crying writing this out. Dont ever want to see this channel again not out of scorn, but in memory of a bad chapter in life. I leave a like and view tho, hopefully so others find yours because of the algorithm. So Thank You, Wolfe Pit. You saved us dumb, young teens from struggling too much.
Man, this channel is genuinely one of those hidden RUclips gems. It's amazing how consistently wholesome and just the right kind of dad-jokey this channel has been over the years. I, a person, part of the people, thank you, Larry, for making these and brightening our lives over the years!
I was in college with a girl from Hawaii...her mom would send care packages that included varieties of....Spam (they were lucky to have varieties we can't get here in the 48!).....we tried so many "recipes" it was crazy. I still keep a can or two in my pantry, although Spam is way more expensive than it was when I was a kid (born in 1951 when the canned meat products were dirt cheap from WW2 days). You're good, Larry
Not shocked. I live in Minnesota where SPAM is from. I’ve been to the SPAM Museum in Austin where the Hormel plant is. I own the Ultimate SPAM Cookbook, several SPAM clothing items, SPAM earrings, SPAM slicer and Musubi maker, etc. My cabinet contains many varieties and flavors of SPAM. That said, you’ve managed to come up with a few recipes I haven’t seen before. Awesome.
LOL, my favorite SPAMmy thing was finding the single serve packs in the store. I placed mailing labels and stamps on them and they went through the mail to the amusement of the postal workers when I dropped them off for mailing. My family (the recipients) understand my delight. 🤣
i've done the spam gravy thing before but i chop up the spam loaf in a food processor until it's basically spam sausage, then fry it up just like you would fry up sausage when making sausage gravy. this way, you get more spam fond stuck to the pan and when you deglaze it with the milk, you get much more caramelized flavor than you get if you just diced up the spam.
Didn't know anybody else ate Spam straight outa the can . My favorite is a Spam sandwich with Thousand Island dressing cheese , lettuce & tomato . Some original Lay's and a cold brew . Definitely trying candied Spam !!! I'll try some of the other recipes too , especially the Spam gravy on biscuits . Love the channel 👍👍👍
I love the Jalapeño SPAM. One of my favorites ways to use it is to dice it up and cook it till it's nice and crispy, then I take a box of the Queso Blanco Velveeta Shells & Cheese, make it according to package, then add the crispy fried SPAM to the shell & cheese.
As someone who's born as raised in hawaii, I'll honestly take spam over bacon in terms of my preferred breakfast meat depending how I'm feeling. My hangover special is 2 piece fried spam, scrambled eggs and some white rice with shoyu (soy sauce), ketchup and tabasco for condiments. Basically your local style breakfast here on the islands. Spam is delicious, just make sure you cook or fry it. Uncooked spam is gross
I'm gonna try out the breakfast you mentioned. I've never ever had rice for breakfast before, (in this area of Europe I come from we have bread to go with everything basically) but it sounds lovely with the Spam and the scrambled eggs and of course the condiments.
@Sweetrottenapple haha it's like the exact opposite here. We hardly eat toast here with breakfast lol though it is quite nice as well. Regarding trying the breakfast, I'd use a short grain japanese style rice if you have it. When people say white rice here in hawaii, that's normally the rice they're referring to
@@cheehee808_ This what I love the most in food! The diversity of people and the meals they eat, and the different habits always amazes me :) I always feel I can not live long enough to taste all the food in this world.
Your comment should be printed on the can! A good quick introduction, and maybe all you really need to know about SPAM. I agree completely, it's hard to stand when it's just out of the can, you almost choke on it. I never cared about SPAM until I got a Hawaii SPAM Cookbook....
I'm convinced that if society fell apart, cans of SPAM would become a currency unto their own. Long, albeit not endless shelf life, flexibility in meals. They'd be worth their weight in gold. That and hot sauce. Edit: and whiskey.
Years ago I had the pleasure of working with a beautiful group of people from a certain Asian island. One day we got on the subject of wedding traditions; I was shocked to learn it is a tradition to give SPAM as a wedding gift. Seems during WWII food and refrigation was not as available as today and SPAM solved many a problem.
Hey Mr. Wolfepit, this might get buried due to how old the video is, but I commented before how I was recently moving out on my own and really appreciated the lessons your videos gave about how to eat on a budget. Well, here I am a month into my move and my job, right out of college. I'm very thankfully and blessed to make enough at my job to eat well and up to my fill every day, but I still take your lessons to heart. I try to stretch out my meals a little, plan out what I make, and I use every bit of what I buy. If I buy a chicken, I shred off all the meat (I keep the white and dark because I like to use them for different things), then I use the carcass and turn it into a big batch of stock to freeze and use later for other meals. I let no part of what I buy go to waste. You do amazing work here on this channel. From one Virginian to another, thank you.
fried spam sandwich is still a favorite of mine, smells funny when cooking it but man with some mayo on the white bread with fried spam in between is surprisingly filling. been a childhood favorite of mine since my dad first made me one when i was 10.
Adding a slice of cheese on top of the hot fried Spam is good. Toasting the bread first too. Sliced it super thin and made grilled Spam and cheese sandwiches. Something so simple (bread, mayo, cheese, Spam) is so good and almost universally whined about... Of course, with the cost of even cheap chicken/pork lunch meat coming close to the price of beef these days, so Spam is getting pricey...
As someone who has not eaten Spam of any kind, ever. I had to try the turkey Spam. I pan fried it and fixed the stuffing and Bob Evens mashed potatoes (these aren't budget friendly, but in 50+ years of cooking, I have never made mashed potatoes as good as Bob Evans), turkey gravy from a packet that I already had, and some Allen's green beans. This meal was great! The turkey Spam was delicious! I will definitely make this again! Thanks for my better-late-than-never introduction to Spam! Anxiously awaiting Pumpkin Spice Spam!
Your culinary creativity when working under a very tight budget, in this video and others' is really life saving. Often times when you're poor (call it what it is), it's very hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Cooking becomes the most difficult job ever and it's close to impossible to get creative and think out something delicious to cook. Your channel easily slices through that and help not only me and my family, but tons of other poor families in my area from surviving one meal to the next, whist at the same time having a delicious experience. I truly thank you for you cooking show/tutorials on RUclips. It truly does save lives, my family at least. If possible please continue on making videos at your convenience. Thank you.
You can say whatever you want, I love Spam, something about cheap and processed foods just makes me feel good. It's not what you're cooking, it's how you cook it.
I love these videos, especially the budget recipe videos. There was a time my dad and I were incredibly broke, both working full time to get back on our feet, and these are the types of foods we ate. We used what we had, tried to be inventive, and fill us up just enough until we could afford a little more. Thank you, you're doing great work 👍
You're truly a man after my own heart! I grew up poor, consequently was damn near OD'ed on Spam. After reaching adulthood, for many years would not even consider going near Spam. Then I got old, worst of all became disabled, definite lifestyle change! Back to being poor again, bummer. My wallet finally over-ruled the gag factor, and one day I reached for a can of Spam. To my surprise I actually loved it! Best of all there's now all these new flavors, some of which are surprisingly tasty. I enjoy most all of your videos, thank you, they are always informative. But love your creativity with Spam. Had a good chuckle with you and the turkey Spam, having tried it long before you. I knew, as a Spam lover, you were going to love the stuff, just like me. Anyhow, getting long winded here, so just want to say thanks again, keep at it, you're one of the more interesting channels!
Being that I'm a Spam addict I enjoyed every minute of this video. It inspired me to make Tocino Spam sliders...which made me really miss being in the PI. Basically, fried Tocino Spam (had to order online) on a King's Hawaiian roll with lettuce, slice of tomato and pickled red onion...and a cold beer.
@@clairewyndham1971 Piggley Wiggly and Spam...there's a joke in there somewhere I just can't find it. The meat is the same as regular Spam, the difference is in the spices. In the Philippines the locals make tocino with pork belly marinated in sugar, pineapple juice, garlic, pepper and I'm not sure what else. Ask ten different people and you'll get twelve different answers. You could probably look up a marinade recipe online and use regular spam. This stuff is great in a sandwich or with eggs for breakfast.
You are the first Spam Addict I ever heard of! 😂 When I was a kid, my mother made spam sandwiches for our school lunches. For years, I hated spam. But I did learn to like it as an adult and eat it a few times a year. But it has to be fried. I like fried hickory smoked spam on bread with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato and onion.
When you dice the SPAM, make the dices smaller. The crisp part is more prevalent and you will find the texture of the SPAN is less so you don't pay attention to it. I love my SPAM and I converted my wife with fried SPAM slivers in tacos. You can't have too much SPAM in the house. Thanks for the video.
I have a Hawaiian friend that makes Spam Fried Rice. It is amazing! Instead of the pineapple, he adds Kimchi. If you can handle Kimchi you NEED to give this a try! It turns out so unreal! Love your videos!
There are Korean videos about cooking with SPAM, including several SPAM/Kimchi dishes. Basic SPAM fried rice really works for me, but it's pretty good in Kimchi fried rice, too! It took me some time to get used to cooked Kimchi!
i watched your videos religiously a couple years back before i actually needed to buy my own groceries. now i’m a struggling adult and i’m so glad i subscribed all that time ago because it’s brought me back to you now. always loved your vids, soothing voice, quality content, and your occasional jokes are a great addition. anyways, thanks for helping to keep us fed, it’s scary times :)) sending love and warm full tummies to anyone who reads this
I feel like spam is that thing that more people secretly like, but never admit to it lol. It's always awesome, can't go wrong with a spam egg and cheese sandwich. I can see people not liking the saltiness though. Not exactly the definition of healthy either lmao.
Spam is really not that bad. I mean, it's not great, but it's also not toxic waste like people make it out to be. I've started stockpiling some extra food just in case. Some rice, beans, spam, and hot sauce is easy enough to store in a cabinet.
Hence one of the upsides of living in countries like South Korea, Japan or Hawaii, you don't have to feel apologetic about loving spam at all! Also, as a pro tip the saltiness of spam does wonders when combined with white and/or sticky rice, try pan frying it for a few minutes & serve with a bowl of rice!
Man I'm shocked, great respect for your work, you're keeping so many people from starving, I'm a French student and I'm not a budget, but I'll be more easily able to afford other things I want to buy
You could use a darker, more treacly sugar than regular brown sugar for the candied Spam in the pie recipe. Or a different type of sugar, such as palm sugar (gula Melaka) if you can get it. The theory behind adding eggs one at a time is that it makes the mixing easier. For the Hawaiian pizza, you can soak some dried chillies in vodka for a couple of days and then soak the pineapple in that. Then put a fine layer of brown sugar on the pineapple rings before you grill them for that Maillard sweetness and crustification.
Also, on pizza, you put just a little bit of mozzarella down first, then any toppings and then cheese. The only toppings that go on top of the cheese are flat ones like pepperoni or salami. It helps not having toppings falling off the pizza when you are getting a piece or trying to eat. The slices will stick to the top and the cheese will hold the chunkier irregular ones down.
@Skynet1 That one is GREAT. I hadn't eaten spam in 30 years because my family ended living on that when I was a kid and I ate so much spam casserole I grew to hate it . But on a whim I got a can the hickory smoked because my son had never tried spam and wanted to try it. I fried that up and it was so good I keep it and a couple others around now. Still cannot eat spam casserole and I wont even try treet.
Any of you who haven't tried Pineapple on pizza please do, it's a pop of sweetness on your typically savory pizza. It seems so strange and not good when you first think of it but when you try it you'll most likely enjoy it
I hate people who try and police food like that, if you like pineapple on pizza then go for it! I've yet to try it, but I can see how it would taste good.
You are not missing out.. like he said in the first recipe- you can get breakfast sausage for the same price. Youd have to be crazy to want spam over breakfast sausage..
@@JWH-01 oh i know youre right, i dont doubt that it can be a filling and maybe even somewhat decent tasting meat if youre starving or using it for convenience while camping. But the OP insinuated he would try it based off the utiility of the range of recipes and maybe even the overwhelming amount of comments approving it. It didn't sound like they were struggling to get by, or excited to buy it, store it, and wait for a time when they need it for a survival situation.
I love that you are so honest with your own cooking. It's refreshing Usually you'll just hear "its sooo good" from other foodies, but you take the recipe for what it is and adjust it to become better. Thank you.
The way you put that gravy onto those potatoes has changed my entire life for the better. Larry - you, sir, are a genius. Pushing the ladle into the mash to make a well and then slipping the ladle out sideways and leaving the gravy perfectly in the well? That is pure artwork, my friend. Just more proof that it’s all about style and grace. If you slop down a lump of mash and slosh some watery gravy over it, it won’t look so appetizing. But that neat little gravy pool in the middle of that smooth mash? Pure theatre, sir. Salute!
@@rolori3 Yeah, the South seems to be the hotspot for this method! I’m gonna have to make some Canadian “Gravy Volcano” converts up here! Great name, by the way! Nice talking to ya! Take care! Kind Regards, -Beardless Odin
No one in my family is from the south. All NY or IL,Wisc area and we always use the gravy ladle to make a well in mashed potatoes. Only way to make sure you get enough before it's all gone lol
I love the stuff. I have been known to eat it, out of the can. I remember in the 70’s when almost everyone in the U.K. was eating spam. Another winning entertaining video.
During the Korean War, my gramps in the US Army had BudaeJigae, which was a mixture of stew that both sides chipped in to make. Spam, sliced hot dogs, instant ramen, hot pepper paste, tofu, kimchi, and other items. Spicy, but delish 😋
Good stuff. If you don't want to make musubi, you can just make the candied spam and serve it over rice. I'll often use shoyu(soy sauce) and brown sugar. The shoyu makes it saucy and is good over the rice. Throw a fried egg on top. Good hangover/comfort food.
Hey Larry! Hope you’re doing alright man! I’ve been a long time viewer of your channel and I know you’ve been dealing with health issues over the years. We the people, hope all is well. Look forward to hearing an update and some future videos
Okay, I can answer the 3 eggs separately vs 3 at the same time. You are building protein strands so 1 at a time works better than all at once. Baking is chemistry 😂.
There's never been a time when butter or bacon hasn't made me happy. Since I live in MN the land of Spam, a fried Spam sandwich also makes me happy too lol
Girl same! I grew up in WI (hi neighbor!) and I are a LOT of spam growing up. I should be sick of it by now, but I’m not. I still love it, 40 years later! Stay well & fed, friend! ❤️
Good on you for including Spam Musubi here. I have that same furikake (and several others from the same company) - the nori fumi would be the best match for the musubi, I think. The recipe you used for cooking the spam looked so very good! It's one of the the best comfort foods around!
Omg you're alive! I missed you so much 😭 RUclips has not been notifying me about your videos and I DON'T KNOW WHY. I even searched for your videos personally, and they haven't been on the results. This is a miracle 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
One spam dish I really enjoy is making it like schnitzel or tonkatsu. (Optionally pre-fry it until brown,) roll in starch or fine flour, then egg and then roll in bread crumbs or panko crumbs of some kind. Fry in butter. Spam shrinks a bit but it is great when breaded. Pretty good as a part of spam musubi or in a sandwich as well
I've used regular, low sodium & bacon flavored Spam, but I've always hesitated to try the turkey version. But you may have convinced me to give it a shot! I'll probably draw a line in putting Spam in desserts though! thanks
I like some SOS. Both of my grandmas made it. My mom's mom made the ground beef version, my dad's mom made the chipped beef or even canadian bacon version. I like them all, and sausage gravy on biscuits is prolly my favorite breakfast food. As for SPAM. I honestly like it more than I thought I would. My uncle fried it up and put it on a bread, a SPAM sammich? I thought it was just gunna be an inedible salt brick, as I somehow recall that being the overwhelming flavor of spam...salt....but it wasnt so bad. My uncle loves him some Jalapeno SPAM.
Brother i recently stumbled upon your channel it reminds me of all my child hood favorites. I appreciate your aim and what you’re doing for the community too provide these delicious hidden gems For folks on a budget. Much love man
I’ve been a fan of this channel for years, I’ve learned so much and tried so many recipes because of you and I just want to say thank you. May God bless you and yours
I gotta admit, you and me think a lot alike. I love stewed tomatoes and spam. I'm retired alone, so these ginormous recipes you concoct are way too much. but I can cut em down. You do a good job. Thanks
I’ve always added Lee & Perron to sausage gravy and a few splashes of Tabasco . I’m going to try spam tomorrow over hash browns with the biscuits. Thanks
I've never been terribly fond of Hawaiian pizzas from the national chain restaurants because I just have never really liked the combination of ham/Canadian bacon and pineapple. But I am definitely going to have to try your variation of this with the grilled and sauced Spam, the grilled pineapple, and the extra veggies and two types of cheese! I think that your pizza recipe has far more depth of flavor with all your ingredients than just plain, one dimensional Hawaiian pizza. Great recipe!
I like different Spam dishes, one of my favorite is fried potatoes with lots of onion and Spam. If you do the math on the cost of a can of Spam its kinda pricey compared to other meat proteins. On average a can of Spam is about $3.50 for a 12oz can where i live. You divide $ 3.50 by the 12 oz size can equals to .291 cents a ounce, times that by 16 oz to the pound come to $4.66 a pound. not the most economical choice. I keep some on hand, one never knows whats around the corner.
I had chipped beef (SOS) done fancy at a brunch place and it was amazing. I looked it up after to see what it even was and was surprised that it was reviled by a few generations of enlisted soldiers. Chipped/dried beef is kinda expensive for supposedly being so lousy so I thought maybe it became like "Craft" chipped beef. Def have to try with well fried spam!
It wasn't so much that Service People hated it for being lousy, it was because it was so repetitive. I even used to go into the Enlisted Mess now and then to get SOS. Had the stouffers recently and loved it. But I wouldn't want to eat it five times a week. Don't think it's even served in the Mess anymore.
@@itsjohndell See, I could eat what I had everyday for breakfast. But I'm guessing that wasnt the version that was served. I had biscuits and fancy gravy. I'm guessing the chipped beef then was barely legal so its a different experience.
I lived in Korea for a bit and a very popular food there is called "Army Soup". It basically consists of ramen, SPAM, and a few other odds and ends. Apparently, it originated during the Korean war when people had to live off US Army rations.
Mr Wolfe, I’ve watched many of your videos, but certainly not all. So forgive me if this has already been reviewed. I’m not much of a cook, and sometimes have canned soup for lunch. The best one I’ve had in a long time is Campbell’s Chunky chili Mac. Easily doctored up with some shredded cheese on top, a blob of sour cream, or some crisp tortilla strips. Have you done a taste test on Chunky soups lately? Thanks, from a fan ❤️
Ooh!!! Can't wait to see this!!! Looove the stuff. I do the musubi and sushi thing--hubby can't have seafood--but would love to see how else it can be used. Thanks so much for this!!! *happy, happy dance*
I just suddenly realized I have not seen any videos from this channel lately and was in a mild panic. That has never been the case for a RUclips personality. I see here in the comments I'm not the only one. I truly do hope he is OK. I know he's had many health challenges.
Me and my daughter like turkey SPAM. It tastes pretty much like regular SPAM but isn’t made of anything unclean. The turkey SPAM is good. I too have diced it and fried it and thrown into omelette with shredded cheese. Really good. Omelette are omelets when they’re shaken to fluffy 3 times their original volume not scrambled eggs rolled up.
Butter really does make everything better. I even corrupted my nephew into this way of thinking by allowing him to try it on his steak one day when he asked if it would be good together. His mom is a health nut.
God bless you @TheWolfePit ive been going through the roughest financial times of my life since ive started saving and moving out of my parents, i feel i almost cant feed myself. many months i was surviving off mcdonalds and prepackaged garbage, but then i found your channel, and my god, you have saved my diet and my palette. i thank you so much good sir!
I could cabbage quite frequently as its one of the healthiest things you can eat. Larry has an inflation stew recipe made with cabbage. You should try it. I bought my last cabbage for 79 cents. That's pretty darn cheap.
My teenager actually likes Spam. For Christmas she got a Spam cookbook. I was surprised it had some recipes that are pretty good. Her favorite is Spam musubi.
sorry ta burst ur bubble Larry, but my mom made candied spam for me as a kid. She didn't dice it though, she would turn the spam sideways to slice it but not slice all the way, then she would stuff slices of pineapple in the cut spots cover it with brown sugar and bake it just add mac n cheese and green beans and you have my childhood
I was just about to get some spam for the first time today at the store, but my girlfriend put it back without me knowing. I only realized this when I got home and was putting groceries away. Ironic that this was posted the same day I wanted to try it out.
Aaaand Mr. Wolfe Pit, your sense of humor is killing me! What a lovely afternoon interlude: nearly an hour of Spam cookin' with awesome VoiceOver and music especially the guitar music of the pizza portion. Took me back to the mid 70s hanging out in best friend's older brother's garage with black light posters, music, smoky haze...
We miss you i hope you are ok and your family is doing well. We cant wait for another video but we want you to be taken care of first. Take care buddy hope all is well.
My regional pizza place offers a 12 topping pizza that has pineapple, it's delicious. No spam, but pepperoni, ground beef, salami, sausage, Canadian bacon, bell pepper, onion, pineapple, black olives, mozzarella, mushrooms. I get it once a year without mushrooms (dirt flavored rubber) as a special treat. The sweet and tangy pineapple sort of cuts the spice and greasiness of the meats and adds to the veggie flavors.
Ty. I've made Split Pea Soup with diced spam. Yummy! Potato cheese soup w/spam is yummy too. Spam also makes a good child and burritos, tacos & so much more!
This channel has helped me so much. Thank you Larry. My boyfriend and I are possibly soon to be evicted and its because of rent increase. My ebt got shut off because I worked a job for 2 months and told them and put papers in the office box. Then lost that job a week later because I got in a bad car accident. Lol, I wish SPAM were that cheap at my local stores. Do love your "eating economically" vids especially since, to me, the "cheaper" meals absolutely tend to taste really, really good. Maybe not BETTER than the spendy meals, but generally every bit as good. So, feel free to throw your viewers lots more meals based on...um...(sick of beans, can't digest rice, so...um...) cabbage? cheap-a$$'s frozen turkey? (since stores are price-gouging AnythingBeef and to an extent pork, too)... Can't think of any others...he77, Walmart is wanting over $3.50 for a 5-lb bag of freakin' low-grade potatoes now. Chicken is outrageous...it's getting weird.
I got one of those vegetable choppers as a gift. I found it to be a pain to use. I guess it depends which brand you get and how big it is, but I still had to get a knife and cutting board to cut the veggies smaller to fit. At that point just spend the extra 20 seconds and cut the veggies like normal. I wound up giving it away.

i've done the spam gravy thing before but i chop up the spam loaf in a food processor until it's basically spam sausage, then fry it up just like you would fry up sausage when making sausage gravy. this way, you get more spam fond stuck to the pan and when you deglaze it with the milk, you get much more caramelized flavor than you get if you just diced up the spam.

I could comfortably survive off spam hotsauce and whiskey for longer than I'd care to admit.
ABSOLUTELY!!
Oh absolutely. It’s my number one item in my emergency food storage. Next to powdered eggs and uncooked rice
I still want to cook my turkey spam but refuse until shtf.
Growing up poor, I find these videos comforting. The future is uncertain so might as well stock up on budget recipes.
fried spam sandwich is still a favorite of mine, smells funny when cooking it but man with some mayo on the white bread with fried spam in between is surprisingly filling.
been a childhood favorite of mine since my dad first made me one when i was 10.
Got to add a slice of tomato with that and cheese. Yum!!
I add it to my scrambled eggs. Really good actually. Just started adding it to salads as well. I guess it can pretty much be a substitute for ham?
Don't forget the onions!!
Spam is excellent
I’ve heard that the pumpkin spice spam is amazing! I keep trying to get it in the stores every year and I always miss it!
- How is Tocino Spam different than the Spam I get at my Piggley Wiggly?
I love this guy, my German grandparents always cooked like this, good food, very tasty, and very cheap! Thank you!
This is the content that keeps me from deleting RUclips. Have a great summer Wolf. Keep em coming!
It took me some time to get used to cooked Kimchi!
i watched your videos religiously a couple years back before i actually needed to buy my own groceries. now i’m a struggling adult and i’m so glad i subscribed all that time ago because it’s brought me back to you now. always loved your vids, soothing voice, quality content, and your occasional jokes are a great addition. anyways, thanks for helping to keep us fed, it’s scary times :)) sending love and warm full tummies to anyone who reads this
also Mr. Pig is adorable, fun utensils are always nice
I love the shoulder of the hog. I use too much salt. There is something in spam I don't like.
Yeah I can only do like a slice or two a week cause of how salty it is but I definitely enjoy it when I’m not sick of how salty it is.
I'll eat it if I'm starving to death I guess lol
Hence one of the upsides of living in countries like South Korea, Japan or Hawaii, you don't have to feel apologetic about loving spam at all!
Also, as a pro tip the saltiness of spam does wonders when combined with white and/or sticky rice, try pan frying it for a few minutes & serve with a bowl of rice!
I’m going to make a turkey spam dinner tonight so that I too can be a”LEGEND IN MY OWN MIND”😂😂😂. Great Dirty Harry reference. Cheers Larry
Hope Larry is doing OK and will be back soon. We the people miss his videos and trying things so we don't have to.
We need him so bad right now!
Have lots of regular spam, but haven't tried turkey or any of the other flavored spams. Definitely worth a try! Thanks for sharing.
It's really good.
I was curious as to who have tried the different kinds and how good they are? I went out and bought some turkey, going to try it soon!
@Skynet1 That one is GREAT.
It seems so strange and not good when you first think of it but when you try it you'll most likely enjoy it
I do enjoy it! People are snobs lol. It's so good!!!
I hate people who try and police food like that, if you like pineapple on pizza then go for it!
I've yet to try it, but I can see how it would taste good.
I love Hawaiian pizza. Of course I’m a little biased, I’m Canadian. 🤣
Make a Spam Hawaiian pizza. Spam and pineapple, of course.
You shittin' me? Bacon, pineapple and feta cheese is my go to when it comes to a pizza topping combo. So fucking good!
I have lived almost 50 years without eating SPAM. Now somehow I feel I am missing out. Of course I think I will embrace the mystery.
Go look at how it's made, it's disgusting, but hey it's your life go get a tin and fry it up, you only live once(in this time line)anyway.
Spam is pork meat
Memories of childhood an tasty
Salute!
I think the gravy lake may be a southern skill. I've seen it my whole life.
Maybe it is southern? We do it in Texas, my husband calls it a gravy volcano! Best way to get max gravy!
@@bloodycupcake219 very cool! 👍 I’ll see if I can get Canadians to adopt it! Have a good one!
@@rolori3 Yeah, the South seems to be the hotspot for this method! I’m gonna have to make some Canadian “Gravy Volcano” converts up here! Great name, by the way! No one in my family is from the south. All NY or IL,Wisc area and we always use the gravy ladle to make a well in mashed potatoes. Only way to make sure you get enough before it's all gone lol
scalloped potatoes with spam instead of ham is pretty good
I love the stuff.
All the best to you Larry, wherever you are.
Probably dealing with health issues because he eats Spam. Unhealthy food, nitrite in meats is a carcinogen. He failed to tell us that.
Okay, I can answer the 3 eggs separately vs 3 at the same time. You are building protein strands so 1 at a time works better than all at once. Baking is chemistry 😂.
I love food science.
@@shelpippg2202 same to you neighbor
Good on you for including Spam Musubi here. I have that same furikake (and several others from the same company) - the nori fumi would be the best match for the musubi, I think. The recipe you used for cooking the spam looked so very good! It's one of the the best comfort foods around!
I have that same kind of frurikake, it's amazing on it
I've had the turkey spam, it is quite good, even right out of the can.
As always, thanks for the vids Larry.
I'll probably draw a line in putting Spam in desserts though! thanks
I love Spam sprinkled with brown sugar on both sides, then browned in a nonstick skillet. Good on squishy white bread with tomato and mayonnaise
My EXACT sentiment...when you think you have enough gravy...add some more. Love it. Love your videos. This is for real people. Thank you

I gotta admit, you and me think a lot alike. I love stewed tomatoes and spam. I'm retired alone, so these ginormous recipes you concoct are way too much. but I can cut em down. You do a good job. Thanks
I'm with ya with the pepper can't have to much.
I’ve always added Lee & Perron to sausage gravy and a few splashes of Tabasco . I’m going to try spam tomorrow over hash browns with the biscuits. Thanks
Spam is a crucial protein these days 👀
I've never been terribly fond of Hawaiian pizzas from the national chain restaurants because I just have never really liked the combination of ham/Canadian bacon and pineapple. But I am definitely going to have to try your variation of this with the grilled and sauced Spam, the grilled pineapple, and the extra veggies and two types of cheese! I think that your pizza recipe has far more depth of flavor with all your ingredients than just plain, one dimensional Hawaiian pizza. Great recipe!
It's 10:39pm.....now I want SPAM. It'll have to wait til the AM. Great recipes!!
1:43 You can tell an old cast iron skillet ... smooth bottom.
Where you at Larry!
My wife and I miss watching you and you in general! Hope all is well fam. Favorite RUclipsr. I wish you good health.
I like adding worcestershire sauce to my gravy as well. And if I'm making sausage gravy, I add in some beef bouillon for a little extra flavor.
I add it to my fried rice it's hella bomb
Ha, ha we’re making spam mac and cheese tonight for dinner. We buy the Sam’s pack to keep in the house, use spam for breakfast lunch and dinner🥰🥰
I feel sorry for your family 🥺 😂
it's not something meant to be eaten regularly lol
Most locals use it daily, when everyone else is starving, we'll be eating good 😊
I lived in Korea for a bit and a very popular food there is called "Army Soup". It basically consists of ramen, SPAM, and a few other odds and ends. Apparently, it originated during the Korean war when people had to live off US Army rations.
One hour with the WolfePit? Tonight's the night, folks!
right? finally have a good enough reason to bring out the fentanyl and whippits
Glad to have you around...your recipe's are not only delicious but afforable!
Oh my.. I hope some of these exotic SPAMs are available in the UK. That roast turkey thing looked delicious.
It seems the only non-standard SPAM available here is SPAM with bacon. Turkey SPAM can be imported, but it's about $10 a can!
It’s crazy that you uploaded this today when I just bought hot and spicy spam.
Omg there's hot and spicy spam?! Where have I been?!

That’s ironic, because saturated fats like butter (particularly grass-fed butter) are actually good for you when eaten in moderation.
Are you okay, Wolfe?? I'm worried about you. Hope you and yours are well. We miss you.
Larry, gravy is practically a food group by itself! Thank you for sharing these great Spam recipes! I will have to try these recipes!

I sure do wish y'all were my next door neighbor's!! Everything looks delicious. I really enjoy spam every now and then. Great video
Monsieur and Madame Wolfe, thank you for sharing! I love Spam❤️ p.s....Mister Pig is adorable.

5$ for a can of spam here in Michigan
Dip the pineapple rings in turbinado sugar before grilling...makes a sweet, crunchy/crisp edge on the rings.
I'm a Spam lover and sat down and watched the whole Spam movie! lol
Those recipes look great. Spam is one of my favorite guilty pleasures. Thanks for posting.
Hope Mr Larry comes back, this channel has motivated me to start cooking
I got one of those vegetable choppers as a gift. I found it to be a pain to use. I guess it depends which brand you get and how big it is, but I still had to get a knife and cutting board to cut the veggies smaller to fit. At that point just spend the extra 20 seconds and cut the veggies like normal. I wound up giving it away.
sir, you're a life saver with these recipes, thank you so much!
