      Your style has always been vanilla - there's isn't much to worry about. However, the content in your videos lately, could arguably be categorized as a crisis.

    I don't call it a style crisis. I prefer to call it an evolution. Right now i feel like I want to move away from my preppier/minimalist style and move toward more of a grunge/punk look. Hopefully it will lead to a fusion of the two. I think the important thing is not to make a huge leap all at once. Dip your toe into different aesthetics, go into stores and try things on, stick to your budget. Trying things on is hugely underrated nowadays. Take a day to go shopping in a physical store and try as many things on as you can, but don't buy anything. It's very helpful.

    • @HarryHas
      @HarryHas  Год назад +9

      Agree with you. I’m also taking my style in a more grunge direction at the moment. Slowly as you said.

To be honest, most people are very positive on the channel and I think there is a really great community here but you will always get people who dont like what you do. As any channel grows so does the hate, unfortunately but it means you are doing something right I think. You also never know what’s going on the that persons life so I tend to take the negative stuff with a pinch of salt (unless it’s decent constructive criticism). The issue I'm having has to do with clothes I want to wear but that aren't practical. Polo shirts and camp collar button downs can look good, especially with jeans or chinos...but when the next 3-4 months will really hot outside, it's just not practical to wear anything but tees and shorts. I have a bunch of nice polos and short sleeve shirts in my closet right now, but it's just too hot to wear them. And it would feel out of place when you go downtown and every last person is wearing tee shirts and shorts too. You might say I could wear them at night instead? Well no, it's still hot at night, and if it's a cooler night then I'd want something covering my arms. It's the same issue with lightweight jackets: where I live, spring and fall last about 2-3 weeks...there's no time to wear one of my great looking lightweight jackets.

    I have constant mental warfare with trends! It's always good to hold off for a bit before buying into them. But then sometimes if you've waited for long enough before realising you actually like them, it's too late because they're all out of stock!

    I don't really have identity crises when it comes to clothes because I don't attach myself to my clothes. I think the best way to think about it is to be completely okay if your house burned down with all your clothes along with it because you know you have the style knowledge to rebuild it from the ground up.

  • @Kbo513

    I just focus on classic styles and it blends well with my work clothes - suits/blazers. They are things I can wear in my 30s and as I get older. And if I get bored, I go for classic, but rugged looks. But yes, my current challenge is my fluctuating weight. Just lost my lockdown weight of 15lbs and yet my legs keep growing due to cycling and running. Needed to size down from 33 waist to 30/31.

    I don't follow trends. I gravitate towards classic menswear but I just modernize it by changing the silhouettes or color combinations or putting patterns together ( as long as one pattern is more subtle). Lately, I have been wearing more trousers and got rid of most my jeans except for very few uniformly dark coloured jeans. I was never a fan of pants with really narrow hems. I have always gravitated towards straight cut pants but more recently, I have been experimenting with wide hem pants which create a nice movement when you walk as long as the pants have a good weight on them.

    I lust love Retro Sneakers like Jordan 1s some good wider fitting cargos and a blank t (white or black) Its comfy and its ME but hearing everyone (on the internet) complain how dead the silhouette etc. is really gets on my nerves sometimes. Trends are fine and fun, but what I especially dislike when the love for a specific desirable product suddenly switches and turns into hate or people start to make fun of it. Yeah you liked it 2-5 months ago and now you act like you would have never stepped into a pair of them (just talking about foot wear).

    My solution is to just hold off buying anything until the crisis ends. Usually a style/identity crisis stems from other problems in life that should be tended to first before fashion. I still dress like a 2018 hypebeast but honestly I'm okay with that because I know it's me. Birkenstocks, Sambas, varsity jackets etc. are going to go out of fashion just as quickly as they came in. Same thing for Stussy with streetwear; I can appreciate it's hype right now, but personally I can't stand the design, so I'll never buy it. If you know that's your style then by all means get those items but for most people it's very much a trend thing which, in my opinion, should be avoided.

    • @HarryHas
      @HarryHas  Год назад +1

      I agree it’s a good idea to hold off buying anything right away. I don’t think a style crisis necessarily stems from other problems in life personally. I think that can have an impact if you are going through something but my style is the last thing I’m worried about if something bad is going on in my life.
