  • The Pantera by Vulcan in Surftech Dual-Core Fusion Technology was a lot of fun to ride. Having been a big fan of Vulcan Surfboards and wanted to check out one of Dane’s shortboards for a long time, this offering by Surftech was a pleasant surprise!
Initially the rail felt quite strange under-arm in my hand, and I thought the very square rail would translate in the water to a very unforgiving high performance shortboard, but it actually felt quite soft and forgiving upon application to the water, especially in the very mediocre conditions we got across the Australian summer to film the board in.
The volume is very well distributed throughout the board and makes paddling and keeping pace in very average conditions quite easy. The bottom curve and foil is well designed and offers a board that moves very efficiently through water. I wonder if there are any characteristics from Dane’s very alternative planing hulls in this shape?
The Dual-Core Fusion Technology felt like a nice blend and still felt nice and stable when the waves were a little bigger when sometimes EPS/Epoxy conditions can sort of max out.

    THE MUSCLE CAR OF SURFBOARDS.
The Pantera features a unique low-forward rocker, neutral balance volume due to the EPS/PU, Pop-Flex Stringers creating effortless paddle and generating speed like no other. The Pantera provides a solid platform for driving off the tail while giving snaps and gouges a powerful feel.
It's hard not to like the performance of a hipped squash, they just work. Match that with our unique low-forward rocker + neutral balance volume and you have a thruster that's not just absurdly predictable but paddles and generates speed at will. A generous block gives the Pantera a solid platform for driving off the tail while giving snaps and gouges a powerful feel. Recommended as a thruster ONLY.
