Some say keyboard manuals were his favourite bedtime stories. Others say he just wants hugs when he storms up to you. All we know is, he is called...Jack
Guys, this still is the best and most entertaining Synth review I have ever seen! Jack in mono mode is brilliant already but you two are pure gold! Might have made me purchasing the Prologue after looking into getting Prophet Rev 2 or Hydrasynth. The Prologue sound simply makes me smile. Thanks a lot and stay healthy!
These reviews are my favourite series on RUclips. Perfect combination of humour, sweet gear and mad skills. Hopefully you guys will show a lot of the new gear that'll be released during NAMM
Random Access You're absolutely right. It's their jobs to hype up the customers, meaning they'll use their skills to get the most out of a product. As a result, they never show any problems or possible downsides. Anyone seriously considering purchasing should always try it out themselves beforehand. That said, Jack and Luke are such an excellent duo I don't really mind their bias :)
Love the guy in the left and his enthusiasm, I felt the same way when I first played this synth! This is one of my favorite demos of this synth so far.
what a presentation.... too good... hilarious... watched the whole thing with a smile on my face... and also shows the synth better than anything on the internet....
I’m proud to be one of the three people watching! You guys are easily the most enjoyable gear review channel to watch. This just seems like a fun place to work and shop at. The synth is killer, too! Cheers!
great demo “show”. I love my JDXA, system 8, Pulse 2, the Korg Prologue made me realize that there’s something missing in thier sound. The reverb on the prologue blows sway the Roland’s, and the filters, though the prologue has only a 12db, are definitely more musical and seductive even with high resonance. As for the complaints about the lack of advanced modulation routings you find in other synths, SO WHAT! “The new Ferrari doesn’t even come with a backseat!!” The prologue just sounds so thick yet open, aggressive while being smooth, and resonance that doesn’t take away from low end. Those that criticize it have not played it. And it’s a Tank! Sexy! It’s like driving a luxury sport car on a perfectly paved road winding road through mountains...no luggage rack, no trailer hitch, no lane change warning, just amazing power and elegant handling.
“5in1, 5in2...” “Uhhh....that’s Sin1” LOL...I was dying! Anderton’s: You need to give Jack a raise, maybe give him his own show. Even though he kinda sucks with the semi-modular stuff, it’s still hilarious to watch him mess with it. And PLEASE get Jack a proper keyboard stand. Korg guy has one. Does Anderton’s now have a spare from the floor to let him use?
I know everybody likes Bert Stormburg and honestly I like him too but c'mon I personally really like Luke, he loves all those 70s and 80s shows!! he always plays Airwolf, Rocky Balboa, Starsky and Hutch, Bladerunner etc... so much fun, brings me back cause I watched most of those as a kid.
@@WarrenPostma why not simply reopen old stuff lines of production for those good old sounds synths, why not save money for new stuff. Moog (by example) can create new visions, but they are pretty stuck by a fan base that want their synths to all sound in the same era-like. Of course new "old fashioned" synths can do new stuff, but they "have to" sound like nostalgia days to be somehow validated. That's a permanent throwback injunction.
A trumpet, stratocaster, violin, snare drum, and piano are all super old things that are still highly relevant, in demand by artists and not going away. Its actually quite hard to get this kind of instrument right. Don't decry this idea. Also, there's nothing new in synthesizers at all. Everything has been done. Analog, wavetable, FM, sample, whatever. Everything is just a new twist on old ideas. So why don't we all just quit music?
I cant front tho this the best type of review. Comedy and humor along with beautiful playing Keep doing more like this! This is going to empty out my pockets
Great review / tutorial. I own one, being only a hobbyist and this instrument provides me the opportunity to learn about and enjoy the sound designing. This video helped me learn about many features I didn’t know existed and has enhanced my appreciation of a great synth that I have owned for more than a year and surely will be a keeper
So two things: 1. This is a WAY better demo of the board than the other even official ones out on YT. Some of the others are shamefully bad. 2. This was hilarious as well!
Love it!!! No longer crave unaffordable JP-8 or Prophet 6 with the super cool synths Korg and Behringer are coming out with - DCO analog with arpeggiators that MIDI clock !!! I'm in heaven :)
It does help that Luke is a king on the keys... He has all those nice references dialled in old TV show themes cool movies and a million other references. He could charge by the minute
Don Solaris that’s Jack.....check out Anderton’s other synth demoes. They basically spend a half hour cutting up, playing the synth every now and again.
This is actually one of his more boring videos. The ones where he's demoing alone are usually hilarious cause he's full of jokes and absolutely killer playing when he's on his own.
Many older analog synths have a noise generator. Some degree of FM-modulation is also possible on older analog synths, especially the Prophet 5 from 1978.
Jack and Luke you guys are awesome !!!! Propper demo this one is making me interested, i love my kronos but only keep it for the keybed ( extreamly playable ) and electirc and acoustic piano. Im thinking i can get a prolouge to replace my kronos ( with something like keyscape ). Pretty excited over this announcement
I would never sell my Kronos.. The AL-1 and MS-20 Engines sound fantastic, and the Mod-7 engine does perfect, and I mean perfect FM. Load up DX7 patches and it sounds the same, now layer it 16 times in Combi mode... and HUUUUGE FM sound.
Ordered one today. Not sure why I never looked at these discontinued beauties before. Stoked to have a fresh in box model to make the synth centerpiece of my tiny studio.
It would be great to now what studio monitors they are using as the sound source is as important as the instrument. I'm still going to buy one based on this review.
it may be Jack's style but that reaction is original if you listen to Luke play this live. Luke played a demo at the Kent expo, UK. Luke's cool and you will really be holding on to to the chair while hearing the whole room rumble and pants vibrate which will make you feel like "taking off". Luke and Jack great video,, Korg did it again. the low frequencies and the compressor working should be heard live to really enjoy it.
Sorry guys, but I cannot remember the *_name_* of company about the sound you make at 17:06, I have days try to think and remember but nothing comes. I barely remember a "logo" when I was about to watch a movie using Betamax tapes.. :D :D I really enjoy your videos.
Kelly Merrill The DSI Rev 2 has better modulation options (more envelopes and LFO's and aftertouch) but the Korg Prologue has better sound design with 2 variable wave shape VCO's and the multi engine. I wouldn't say one is better then the other they are just different.
If you're fine with the price point, I'd say the hands-on approach (no menu-diving) and visual feedback from the oscilloscope are nice features to have as a "beginner".
I love all the sounds on this thing. I can't play, so I don't need all the buttons and keys and metal, but I do have a house that has loads of different noises, in each room. I've pretty much got used to them over the years but they might sound really fresh and interesting to you. Fancy doing a straight swap?
Some say keyboard manuals were his favourite bedtime stories. Others say he just wants hugs when he storms up to you. All we know is, he is called...Jack

43 minute synth demo feels like 7 minutes. So entertaining and fun. On top of that top notch playing and sound. Congratulations for this video!
such a cool instrument. Also, the prsentation was both great and hilarious. Love Luke !
This video sealed the deal for me. What a synthesizer! Great energy between Jack and Luke. Best demo I have ever seen. Subscribed.
Do you still have the Prologue?
Love the guy in the left and his enthusiasm, I felt the same way when I first played this synth! This is one of my favorite demos of this synth so far.
what a presentation.... too good... hilarious... watched the whole thing with a smile on my face... and also shows the synth better than anything on the internet....
Essio Fuzulu same here, beats most standup routines
The great thing about these two is that Jack asks the 'regular user' questions, while Luke is the science guy. It just works!
Listening to this on headphones and man, those phat sounds are so, so phat.
I don't care what you demo, just as long as it's Jack and Luke chatting and playing. You two are so fun to watch!
The Jack and Luke show is my favourite show! haha Luke is such an asset to Korg in showcasing these amazing sounds - thank you! 💙
I’m proud to be one of the three people watching! You guys are easily the most enjoyable gear review channel to watch. This just seems like a fun place to work and shop at. The synth is killer, too! Cheers!
was skeptical at first but heck now i love its sounds
Just bought one based on your brilliant review. Thank you!

@@Rialas It has MIDI aftertouch now. Plus you can just use an expression pedal
This is the type of review I LOVE! Big up to both reviewers for really showcasing the instrument and hyping you up. More synth videos!
Andertons videos with Jack are the best. This thing sounds great too! Thanks for the preview
This might be the best product demo I've ever seen. Absolutely nailing the target audience on this one.
“5in1, 5in2...” “Uhhh....that’s Sin1” LOL...I was dying!

Kevin Harris same here, had me on the floor
What an amazing sounding synth! Jack and Luke work really well together and this is probably the best demo of the Prologue
23:30 .. man that basss .. thanks korg for stepping up! we we're waiting for such a polysynth!
Best demo i've seen of the prologue so far
The best and funniest synth demo ever!! Laughed all the way through. Synth looks great!
Now Blade Runner theme is the new "Stairway" for keyboardists.
And the Stranger Things theme is "Smoke on the Water"
The most questionnable is to spend so much money and R&D about new stuff that can reproduce 30 or 40yo sound...
@@V3nom7 RIght. Why not get some killer VSTs and bank the rest.

Korgasm
Especially this first "yes" :D xD
I cant front tho this the best type of review. Comedy and humor along with beautiful playing
Keep doing more like this! This is going to empty out my pockets
Korg has stepped up their game in a big way. Reminds me back when Roland still had magic in the 90’s with monsters like the JD-800 & JP-8000.
Thanks to this video I ordered mine today. I'm really excited to play some of these patches that were shown on this video. :) Sweet!
I have had mine since early May of this year and it's great for me. Compliments my Moog Sub37 perfectly
funniest demo ever. good work guys.
Great review / tutorial.

Jack and Luke should make a you tube channel like "That Pedal Show"
So two things: 1. This is a WAY better demo of the board than the other even official ones out on YT. Some of the others are shamefully bad. 2. This was hilarious as well!
I have been waiting for Anderton's video on this thing!
Time to start saving... my Minilogue and Monologue await there new little brother!
I bet this is the most fun any korg demonstrator has had making this type of video
It’s sorta like a new age Jupiter 8. Awesome
Man, did you've listened Tiergrinder's demos? :) The Jupiter 8 clone.
MoolahNasreddin I haven’t, that’s interesting. Roland really set the bar
I was shocked. This guy is amazing!
MoolahNasreddin ooh yes! I remember now. I totally agree amazing! Thank you for the reminder haha just watched again
What a synth!
awesome sounds - Jack was droolin' there!
Aiming to get a used one of these in the next few days! This reviews helped a lot with cementing the decision!! Love how user friendly it is.
Such a great synthesizer! Thanks again for making this video!
14:42 That amazing old-skool techno vibe! Love it.
Wow!! I'll be as excited as Jack if I was there, this sounds *amazing*
Love it!!! No longer crave unaffordable JP-8 or Prophet 6 with the super cool synths Korg and Behringer are coming out with - DCO analog with arpeggiators that MIDI clock !!! I'm in heaven :)
this guys is such a cool player..!
I really enjoy watching and listening to the Andertons shows. Thank you!
Invite George from UDO for a show!
Best wishes
Truly wonderful demo, thanks guys
Sounds amazing!! And you guys made the presentation so nice and enjoyable (clap clap clap!!)
I am adding this one to my studio!!
Does Luke ("Korg guy"?) have a channel on YT, Soundcloud or something? I would love to listen to his music, if he makes some!
Agreed! :) Me too.
It does help that Luke is a king on the keys... He has all those nice references dialled in old TV show themes cool movies and a million other references. He could charge by the minute
I normally a Roland guy and I like Korg but I don’t own any, but this one is dreamy! 😍 l
Best first look EVER! Well done chaps! Hilarious, and informative. My Kronos is in trouble now... Neeeeed a prooooloooogue....!!
That guy in blue t-shirt rocks. (and grows some cool plants)
I think he plays keyboards for James Bay too. But yeah funny dude
He’s rollin’ on E
Todesnuss if u like a comedy show, sure.
Thank you. Brilliant review.
Great demo guys. 10X!
Many older analog synths have a noise generator. Some degree of FM-modulation is also possible on older analog synths, especially the Prophet 5 from 1978.
Herr Friberger not like this.
The Cover of the Blade Runner Theme is amazing!
This thing sounds great!!

These two should have a synth review series
Sounds really awesome!
I want whatever jack is smoking. He was blown away by every detail, even some before he heard it
I need one! Sounds so good
Jack is the coolest interviewer in the music industry! Such a character :)
oh the Prologue is pretty awesome too hahaha
He sure is...
Dash Glitch incorrect.
That must have been a giant joint these guys just blazed right before switching on the cam, haha
🚬🔥💨😂
It would be great to now what studio monitors they are using as the sound source is as important as the instrument.
I'm still going to buy one based on this review.
good videos take the main outs, not speaker sound, this channel doesn't record speakers when showcasing synthesizers and keyboards
Also thumbs up for "Airwolf" Arp sequence
Great demo, didn't know Andertons was doing synth demos!!
Anyone know the chords being played at 25:00 on the synth pad and lead sound?? i cant figure it out past Eb major 7 and Ab major 7...
Definitely want to get the 61

chief tp I found it here at the end of the video ruclips.net/video/HaOmp140NvU/видео.html
I have to stop watching this because ... minimum wage and too many new synths at namm
Blacklily Orchard learn trade in couple of years you will afford it , time goes by quickly!
lol... you think im young. :) just poor. my most expensive one is a sub37. it goes nowhere. the rest are cheap and necessary for my needs.
I feel your pain brother
That's a hell of an opening
Blade Runner!
Be aware that the prologue does not transmit or receive midi volume changes (CC7)
should be good as first synth??
a bit expensive for a first synth but sure
if you're rich. my first synth, besides a drum machine, was the monologue.
The Dave Smith rev2 is better and same price.
Kelly Merrill The DSI Rev 2 has better modulation options (more envelopes and LFO's and aftertouch) but the Korg Prologue has better sound design with 2 variable wave shape VCO's and the multi engine. I wouldn't say one is better then the other they are just different.

17:06 - The Audience is Listening. :D
17:05 just nonchalantly blows your mind.
Never mind this is better 25:10
31:05
am very impressed with the way this synth sounds would love to own one but ................ can it play Crysis too ?
Loved it, an amazing review, for an amazing synth. I think it would be nice to se a comparison between the monologue, minilogue, and prologue.
Jose S. Morales they’re all amazing haha
Yes scoring stranger things with a glass of wine and prologue!! Cheers
Wow wow
It really bring me back in the 90’s
How is programmed the performance you deliverded at 14:05 (( kind of FM ... )
great video! hilarious, and a wonderful synth!
I love all the sounds on this thing. I can't play, so I don't need all the buttons and keys and metal, but I do have a house that has loads of different noises, in each room. I've pretty much got used to them over the years but they might sound really fresh and interesting to you.
Fancy doing a straight swap?
wow that intro sounded awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =D
Its from Blade Runner by Vangelis.
Sounds Fab ,, great demo .
Best thumbnail ever
Jack.....your a synth Don !! , thankyou for dragging mr korg into the house, now he's....a....tru playa !!!!
I want to hear more 5IN1
Mick Ronson hahaha, yes
GLORIOUS !
23:24 I had the same feeling, haha!
How can anyone possibly say this thing sounds bad????
this man is as enthusiastic about this synth as i am
