@Plasma Matter He never claimed he was natural, but a natural will never look as good as him in his prime. Furthermore, many of his peers have passed away or have health problems, and Shawn is relatively healthy. He did something right.

Shawn told me this in person back in 2013 over dinner. I was blown away. Glad he is stating the truth here too. Far too many of these kinds of guys in the industry today and honestly, not ENOUGH Shawn Rays.
And..that is why we love Shawn. He says what many others think but never dare to say.
Massive respect to Shawn Ray for how open he is in this interview and telling it like it is. If only the bodybuilding community were like this it probably wouldn't be as dangerous and abusive of drugs as it is now.
Part of the problem is the guys he works with don't speak out against him. For some reason despite his dangerous methodologies the athletes he works with somehow want to defend him. Insane.
If only bodybuilding didn't exist. The world would be a better place.

I met Shawn Ray. At the 2001 Mr Olympia. He is one of the nicest guys I have ever met. I believe him and he would not say these things if they were not true.

I always liked Shawn as a competitor. Not everyone can be Mr. O, but he was always in top shape, a magnificent addition to the field, and an inspiration to fitness buffs. Based on this clip, he might be on the verge of his biggest contribution to the sport! And that says a lot!
Shawn seems like a stand up guy! I use to watch him when I was a kid. My mom asked me why am I buying body building magazines. Because I wanted to learn how to draw comic book characters based off the body builders.

@Gore4ever FulciLives calves were weak as fuck , hamstring did not have "hang" from the side. Quads, although big around the teardrop, did not flare at mid thigh like Wheeler or Wolf. Not wide enough in the upper back and no flare at the lower lats.

As far as anybody I think was robbed at the Mr Olympia it was definitely Sean Ray. I've been in this sport for 30 years and he had the prettiest physique out of anyone on the planet. Perfect balance it was no weak points anywhere. I've never seen lines on anybody like that everybody says flex wheeler have one of the prettiest with these I don't think you could touch Sean Ray. If it was about the best looking body and not just about size nobody would have ever touched him
Kinda messed up. I heard Ronnie say in an interview exactly what Shawn was talking about his near death experience right before a show, but Ronnie wouldn't say why or how this happened, now I know more.

I met Shawn at one of Zeke’s shows in Orlando in the 90’s. He was super nice to me and came across as genuine. He may be a little extra critical when it comes to his color commentary but he is telling the truth no matter how hard that is to hear at times.

I was in love with bodybuilding for probably 13 years but around '17 I just could not dismiss the deaths and unhealthy stories I would hear about these guys. I loved the aesthetic and athletic aspect of it never took the gear myself but I just could not follow along with the shows and gossip of it all anymore and brush it under the rug. Shawn is doing a good thing by speaking out hopefully people listen. Him and the top 5 guys from the 90s were so good they literally influenced thousands and still no one looks better than them lol.. maybe it's time people stop gearing up I think we can get past this all by now
