Saddle Rock Trail, Los Padres National Forest

- A stone's throw from lovely Santa Barbara is the Saddle Rock Trail which we embarked on one fine April morning. It's a "lollipop" loop, often steep, and with bouldering required; it's challenging! The constant views of the surrounding mountains, the Pacific Ocean, the city of Santa Barbara, and up and down the coast are spectacular and made our hike well worth the effort.
We made several trips into California this year as our son and daughter-in-law have relocated from Portland to Santa Barbara. Our beautiful state of Oregon (and we) miss them, but Santa Barbara is beautiful, and a silver lining for us are the many fine hiking opportunities we'll get to enjoy there.
