No, this is a good change.
Tekken Prowess is clearly a better way of matchmaking than rank. Lately I've had more opponents at my own skill-level because they have the same prowess, not a Tekken God on his 5th character ranking up.
Tekken God clearly knows how to play Tekken, break throws consistently, know which way to sidestep strings and when to duck etc. Valuable defensive skills. They have more Tekken prowess and no business playing a red rank or a purple rank. Why should a newbie has to face them?
Of course prowess is better solution. If you're able to rank up multiple characters to purple or blue, you clearly know how to play Tekken. You should meet people at that same prowess. People on blue ranks crying over only meeting Tekken gods? LOL, nah! There's no 'Tekken God' only playing ONE character. They have multiple side-characters as well, and they've inflated the same prowess even higher too. People crying over this change is the top 10% who can't get their easy wins over the red-rnaks anymore with their 5th sidecharacter. Now they have to face people of equal skills.
I just finished my statistic of my last 100 matches, and I've never lost to anyone with significant lower prowess than me, and I've never won against anyone with significant higher prowess than me. That's more than I can say about ranks. So Tekken prowess is clearly the better way of measuring how much 'Tekken' you know. It's a better matchmaking for 90% of the players. But maybe not for the top elites of Tekken Gods and above. But why should Namco cater to 5-10% of Tekken players, and not for the vast majority? Thank you, Namco!
This is it... If anybody else has played League of Legends, Overwatch etc... You'll know what this is. Bandai Namco has introduced skill based match making.
Just because you are good with a character doesn't mean you're good another character. It takes time to learn a new character. You must develop muscle memory and new match up knowledge. You match up should be based on your proven skill with a character, not overall Tekken skill.
@@tek87 Yes, that's true. But you still know 'more' Tekken when you can play several characters. I think that should deside matchmaking.

Someone has to say how easier tekken 8 ranked is compared to past tekken games. 8 fewer ranks and demotion before warrior, blue ranks in this game will get so populated by end of the year... Sure prowess made it difficult for us playing multiple characters but truth remains.
it takes me over 5 mins to find a single game for my Law in Emperor, and when i do get matches, im up against 3 GoD Nina and a God Supreme Jin, not a single same rank or -+1 difference

I play on the Oceania server with a prowess of 194k. Currently, the wait time is quite long, averaging around 5 - 10 minutes per match and often queuing against the same opponent repeatedly. With the server's low population, finding matches has become significantly more difficult. I can only imagine how tough it must be for players in higher ranks, as their queue times seem to stretch to 30 minutes or more. In off-peak hours, I have reached 25-minute queue times before, something that used to take 1 - 2 minutes.
Each and every match i had in ranked the last few days was within two ranks and similar prowess. Every match was competive and close. Wait times? Long...
I got demoted back to purple it was still giving me kishins and bushins to battle I’m like wtf every match I play is hell because I got a couple into blue and 1 at flame ruler
Same here im getting back to fujin and have to fight supreme gods kishins and raijins.idiots didn't think that is possible?
It was hard for me at first, got my ass beat lol… but it made me way better at the game. I think they slightly reverted how often you get higher prowess, and then I started steaming rolling

But prowess is meaningless anyway because it gives players high prowess WHEN they use the auto-mode.

Tekken 8 is amazing.
I think it is a "good thing?" for ranked, but for quickplay is the most awful change ever,
quickplay is mean to be a mistery box, fighting against a new player or a tekken god.
this will make the players numbers to plump even more, and we are already at 9K in steam right now, compared to the 40K on release... it's looking bad.

I haven’t been playing this week since I’ve been busy but damn this does not make me want to play ranked! I made it to Mighty ruler with a character on the weekend and I play a whole bunch of other characters. I can’t imagine what kind of crack heads I would face. Worst part is that I read the change still affects quick match but at least I just chill there. Hopefully they reverse this soon

Lmao my prowess is 32k when I say Ive been obliterating on ranked😂 I basically mastered my main and haven't tried anyone else. Guy was 3 ranks ahead of me and I obliterated him on the rematch😂😂
I get faster match ups in Tekken Lounge and it feels easier
High prowess play high prowess, but the bad thing is that the wait time is ridiculous. I just got to Tekken King and the wait times is unbearable. Haven’t play the game in a few days
