100% strip set will get more fish to the net. I catch 20lbs Atlantic salon in an 8wt and they are far more energetic than bass. Keep at it and you’ll get it.
Great video-------suggestion; when you get a hit, set the hook with an upward movement of the fly rod, especially when using a fly rod over a 5 wt. ---also, always try to get the fish on the reel as soon as possible when landing a bigger fish--Thanks for sharing
Strip that hook in. You're right about bass or heavier hooks. They are thicker and so are the mouths of bass, so you got to have a good hook set. Fly's are light and harder for bass to shake off try as they might, just play the fish and use the rod to do so along with pressure. I'm sending your videos to my grandson, he's expressed intrest in the sport and he's about your age so that a plus. Good luck and keep them coming.
it didn't look like your strip set was on point this video. The strip set is so important to bass fishing not he fly. Thanks for the awesome video!! it was so fun to watch!
Sick video Y’all!! Making me want to try some fly fishing! Hmu if y’all are down at the beach and want to link and do some fishing and filming! Also love the masters font on the thumbnail! 😂
Try the strip set from now on. Leave the rod pointed forward and rip that line backwards! Watch the level of landings go straight up with this teKNEEK.
Think you should be setting sideways vs strait up. When fishing on top I also tend to wait a second before setting...maybe 1/2 a second. Your eyes always see the fish/hit first.
You're having trouble setting the hook because you twitch your fod tip like you do in conventional fishing, twitching a fly rod puts slack in your fly line, making harder to set the hook. Also, reel in your fly line so you can fight the larger fish with the drag on the reel and not have to worry about the fish pulling the line out of your hand.
Less is more. Don’t over cast and don’t sling your arms. Think more back and forth flick of the wrist from 10 o clock on the back cast to 2 o clock on the forward. Requires a bit of arm movement obviously but really focus on the wrist. Wait for line to unravel and load the rod on back cast before forward cast
Strip set!! Check out Gunnar Brammer and Aardvark McLeod both these guys have great content on fly fishing for large and/or saltwater fish.

Just found your content, love it! I’m trying to get a big bass on the fly for the next few weeks, learning from y’all! Tight lines!

Is that the Clearwater kit you’re using? What line is on there? (Apologies if ya say I’m not through the video yet! Lol)

Love flickin around course ponds. Usually full dawgs!...That love to eat on top
Yeah the less pressure they see the more fun they are. Unfortunately most golf courses aren’t huge fans of it lol.
Great video, loving all the fly fishing!!!!
Here for ALL the fly fishing!

Dude we catch 30lb Tarpon & 20lb Snook on 8wt. Have some faith.
Yeah strip set not rod set to get that hook in there
Let's get together and catch some fish in NC
Strip set
Gotta strip set especially on the bigger fish
Yep, learned the hard way. Coming from conventional, setting up with the rod is such a tough habit to break
hey you did great but next time dont set straight up like trout fishing you pull your line as hard as you can then lift up
caught a 5+ on my 5 wt neon popper. nothin more fun
Do you have any tips on how to cast a fly rod

where do you get your flies?
Mostly order them online or visit a local orvis
What wt rod are you useing
7wt in this video
The easiest way to fish golf courses is the dress like a golfer.
6:15 I'm so upset that fish got off.
15:44 I'm even more upset now.
