I have been listening to your covers of these KISS tunes, WOWSA! You really nail them with deadly precision! The guitar in Plaster Caster are 99% dead on! I grew up listening to KISS, and I like how you take the more obscure songs and cover them. You must be a mega KISS fan...it sounds like you put a ton of heart & soul into these covers ;) Highly impressive my man. :)
Thanks Rodger. I really appreciate your comments! Yeah, I'm a huge KISS fan. I especially love 70's era KISS. I'll be recording more KISS covers for my youtube channel. If you have any song suggestions I'll take them into consideration.
-another great melodic tune which attests to KISS' ability to write great songs and of which, they are in no short supply! They have to be one of the if not, 'the' most covered band of all time! BTW, nice guitar outtro on the Gresley improve embellishment!
unfucking believable youtube! FREHLEY IMPROVE !!!! NOT fucking Gresley or whoever the FUCK. fucking Fuck ups compliments of 'suggestive fuckin indigestive fucking text! fuckin out
+Erick Johnston Yeah, KISS had many great songs. Their biggest strength was their songwriting. As good of a stage show they had, it was always secondary to their music as far as I'm concerned.
+Damn Wicked You're welcome. Care to share what effects you're using on this one? You also seem to have avoided overdoing the treble I find so annoying in some of the videos posted on youtube. The rhytm guitar is nicely placed in the slightly lower end of the mid range, as far as I can tell. If you don't know what I'm talking about, try listening to QueensRyche's Operation Mindcrime. Although the shrieking high-end treble sound works out perfect for them on that specific otherwise superb album, it's not something I want to hear on a 70'es Kiss tune: Meat and potatoes only, hold on the cranberry sauce, thank you. :)
I recorded the guitars using my BOSS GT8. I don't remember which patch I used but I tweaked the EQ, drive and distortion settings. Lowered the distortion and drive, lowered the highs and brought up some mid range. I almost always turn the reverb completely off on whichever patch I'm using and instead use a little verb and/or delay from my DAW. Most of the covers on my channel were recorded using my Roland VS-2480. I'm pretty happy with the guitar sound on this one. The patch I used for the solo wasn't ideal but I couldn't find a better one because of time constraints.
+Erik DeMann I did a cover of KISS, Strange Ways. Check out the solo in that version. I prefer that lead guitar/ solo sound over the one that I got on Plaster Caster. Although I think the rhythm sound I got in Plaster Caster is much better.
Here's another KISS cover from yours truly, Damn Wicked. This song is called Plaster Caster and it comes off the 1977 album, ' Love Gun' , when KISS we're one of the biggest bands in the world.
