Damn Wicked
Добавлен 11 янв 2015
Welcome to the Damn Wicked RUclips channel.
Damn Wicked is a 3 piece hard rock band that consists of me and my 2 brothers.
Many of the videos and music recordings that you see on this channel were done by me alone, but my brothers will be participating in the song recordings and videos in the future. They’re creative and talented guys, and they’re necessary parts of the team for live performances. I’d have a helluva time trying to play drums, guitar, bass, lead vocals and backup vocals (harmonies) all at one time. Ha!
We invite and encourage everyone to interact with us. Let us know what you want to see and hear. We aim to satisfy your appetite for hard rock, heavy metal, and even the softer, mellower flavours of music that you might appreciate hearing. Our original music is very diverse and we are interested in covering music from different genres.
So hop on the Damn Wicked train, with us. We’ll turn this tiny, 2-horse town into a thriving, magnificent kingdom! Rock on!

KISS, Gene Simmons' solo album, See You Tonite cover by Damn Wicked
Makin Love is a great closer.
Two favorite Kiss albums are Hotter Than Hell and Rock N Roll Over. Destroyer is hurt by three songs really bad.
They're both raw and heavy sounding albums. I can see why you would prefer those two.
I don't like Bob Ezrin's production that much. Seems he likes show tunes or something. I can hear the same stuff in his work with Alice Cooper too.
I do know what you mean about Ezrin's influence making the songs sound more cinematic or showtune-like. Alice Cooper really has a lot of that kind of sounding stuff on some of his 70s era albums.
Beth is okay, but ballads I really love are rare.
I tend to feel the same way. Ballads have to be REALLY good to earn my appreciation.
Rock and Roll Over is better. Destroyer has some bad songs, but however, has a couple of their greatest Detroit Rock City and God of Thunder. Great Expectations and Flaming Youth is horrible. Sweet Pain isn't too good.
I love Flaming Youth and Sweet Pain. Detroit Rock City is about as good as a hard rock song gets. It’s an absolute classic.
Predator vs KISS. Nice!
KISS has never released a better LP than RARO. Bar none!
It seems to be among the highest rated KISS albums by the hardcore fans.
Crazy, I can hear your pick clicking over the amplification. Sounds kinda cool.
Yeah, I noticed that too. It’s kind of strange because the volume coming out the speakers was pretty loud and I wasn’t that close to the phone while I was recording this. It's actually a bit bizarre to me. Maybe I pluck those strings harder than I thought!
Rock and roll over for me by far
Rock And Roll Over is rawer and has louder guitars. That's one thing I really like about it.
I also prefer Destroyer slightly. Both very strong albums, they put more energy into the music than anyone at that time. Every song good, except "Take Me" which is painful brain rot lol
Agreed, except I think Take Me is a fun, rockin’ song. Definitely not a “perfect 10” though. My rating of that song in this video was said in jest.
You are freaking me out with that balaclava man😅 Merry Xmas!
I’m freaking myself out with the balaclava too. I look like a scary muppet. Hope you have a Merry Christmas!
I bought these two records on the same day and my Kiss madness began!
Cool ! Those albums are among the best ways to be introduced to KISS. I started with Destroyer but it's possible that I may have heard the KISS Alive! album first. I can't remember exactly. I do remember seeing them on the Paul Lynde Halloween special in October of 1976 and that got me even more hyped up for KISS. Those were great times!
Rock And Roll Over
This seems to be the general consensus in the comments here.
Destroyer.....the only Kiss-album I need...
It's a classic!
I have both albums but I like rock and roll over more
I have a hard time choosing a definitive favorite between the 2 albums but you can't go wrong with Rock And Roll Over.
Destroyer is good but overated . Rock n roll over is KISS at the peak of their powers. Awesome album
It's good to see Rock And Roll Over getting so much love in these comments!
The first album had incredibly great songs that are KISS staple. Contains all the elements of what good songs contain. Only trouble with the first album was it was so poorly produced by producers who clearly didn't know what they were doing. The poor production choked out the band's true potential. Love Gun album clearly was much better produced. Had a few good songs but not the strength of the debut album.
Well stated! Love Gun does feel slicker and it has better production than the debut KISS album, but I think even Love Gun could have been produced better than it was. The greatness of the songs on the first KISS album allows them to shine through a somewhat lackluster production.
DESTROYER !
Good choice! It's hard to go wrong with either one.
Not to take away from the subject matter but, I LOVE ACE. If you like Ace Frehley’s guitar style I’d suggest listening to UFO from the exact same time period with Mr. Michael Schenker on guitar. I always thought Ace and him were TOP 5 all time.
I'm a big fan of Ulrich Roth (ex-Scorpions guitarist). Ace wrote many memorable solos in the 1970s. He was my first lead guitar inspiration. He's been playing really poorly in recent years though. I'm almost embarrassed to hear him play these days because he was THE original guitar hero for me.
@ I also LOVE Ulrich Roth. Superb.
Rick n Roll Over wins. No contest.
I've never been "Rick-Rolled" but 'Rock And Roll Over' is a great album. I wonder if that RickRolling trend has ended?
@@davidjonorato3554 👍🤘
Not a Kiss fan (I know, moronic, right), but I do appreciate how thorough and insightful this Kiss Album Teardown is. I give it a 10/10. One of the best I’ve watched. 👏
Thanks! I appreciate the kind comment.
Beth I’d rate way higher than 5.5 that’s just nuts and Makin Love higher too it’s a way better song than See You In Your Dreams which is filler imo. Hard Luck Woman is a much better song too. Those 3 songs are all an easy 9 for me
I definitely underrated Makin' Love and Hard Luck Woman. I might have underrated Beth too because it's not a bad song, just not a song that I really connect to.
Note to the poster of this video. Paul Stanley says, in his book, that "Hard Luck Woman" was written as a nod to Rod Stewart's tune "Maggie May". They both have that acoustic Folky-Pop vibe and Perter Criss' voice is very reminiscent of Rod Stewart's.
Yes, I've always found that to be an interesting side note. I seem to remember Paul wanting Rod Stewart to record it, but some people in management thought it would be a good choice for KISS to keep it and have Peter sing it. I think their intention was to hopefully have another hit song, with the help of a similar balladesque style that worked in making Beth successful.
One has Rock and Roll Party, the other doesn't, pretty obvious choice
I really love the Double Platinum mix of "Dr. Love", Gene's vocals are mixed out, leaving only the backing track and the background vocals. Him always growling "THEY CALL ME..." was a bit tiresome, so the instrumental break was a nice change.
It's been a long time since I listened to the Double Platinum version. Now that you mentioned it, I'm going to go give it a listen. Thanks for mentioning it !
I like both albums equally for different reasons. I can listen to them both start to finish and not get bored. They each fit a different mood. Destroyer is more polished and rock n' roll over is more raunchy.
I agree! Well said. 👍
Both albums songs are 10 out of 10!
I love both albums.
Beth is amazing! Kiss were varied that is what made them great for the real fans!
I really appreciate the variety of music that KISS gave us.
It’s a classic. Way better than 5.5
Kiss are Kiss All 70;s Kiss albums are great!
Let us know which other albums you'd like to see in the "Damn Wicked Record Showdown". How about KISS Hotter Than Hell VS Dressed To Kill ?
@@damnwicked666 Good idea.👍🤘 Both albums are great. It would be intersting to read the opinions of other people. Cheers 🤘🍻🥃
@@Rigosson I agree, they're both great albums. It's kind of fascinating reading all the varying opinions on here!
Let us know which other albums you'd like to see in the "Damn Wicked Record Showdown". How about KISS Hotter Than Hell VS Dressed To Kill ?
For mine, Duece, Black D, 100,000 years trumps Love hun, shock me and I stole your love.
I will take rock ‘n’ roll over all day every day. Wood destroyer came out. I was highly let down when they rebound it with rock ‘n’ roll over. It was like a breath of fresh air, but then sadly they let me down even further with love gun. That’s what I grew up with got into Led Zeppelin Jimi Hendrix, Rolling Stones, and so on.
Rock And Roll over is getting a lot of love in the comments and rightfully so. I got into KISS right around the time Destroyer was released and a few years later got into Zeppelin, Sabbath, AC/DC, Van Halen, Sweet, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, Angel, RUSH, Queen, Kansas, Priest, Maiden, Hendrix, Cream, Jeff Beck, Lynyrd Skynyrd and a bunch of other bands. However, I still always followed KISS and enjoyed a lot of their music. KISS had some duds just like all those bands did.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Why are you playing Making Love when you're talking about Detroit Rock City ? ARE YOU SERIOUS 😂😂 Learn how to make a video what a disrespect to a Great Band !! I'm unsubsidized ! Practice First !!
great review i have rock and roll over winning
The loud guitars and upfront, "in your face" production of Rock And Roll Over is unique to that album. I should have given a few songs from that album a higher mark. Thanks for your comment!
BTW - "Stinking pile of lyrical garbage" is a perfect description of "Take Me' - EASILY the very worst tune on Rock n' Roll Over. This moron should be sued for giving it a 10 & attempting to poison the minds of any true KISS fans that don't know better. FYI - I'm 61 & still carry my ORIGINAL Kiss Army card - don't try to out-knowledge me, son !
Great Expectations - worst song on Destroyer. God of Thunder - EASILY the best song on Destroyer. This guy is the wussyest so-called "KISS" fan I've ever heard !
Destroyer contains Detroit Rock City , God Of Thunder and Do You Love Me which are all top ten KISS songs for me so it wins.
Greats songs and lots of magic on that album.
Combined both albums and you've got a good one four songs off each Beth sucked
I've never been a big fan of Beth but I can see it's charm, especially for the soccer moms :) But I can definitely understand your point of view.
Beth sold this album.
Beth sold the album to the casual fanbase but the hard rockin' songs on Destroyer sold the album to the hardcore fans and those that like more excitement in their music. I think songs like Detroit Rock City did a lot more for KISS' longevity and credibility than Beth.
Yep it makes no sense to give Great Expectations such a high rating and Beth which is a classic and Kiss biggest ever hit only 5.5
Rock and Roll over is probably my faforite Kiss-Album. Great Produktion for the time. ACE Frehley absolutly nailed it with his great solos. I was never a big Fan of Destroyer. Keep on rocking and greetings from Germany. 🇩🇪👍🤘🎸🍻🌍
It is a great album for sure. I like almost every KISS guitar solo from the 1970s. The bass lines were just as great too. There’s so much to appreciate with this band. Awesome to have someone from the other side of the world commenting. This Canadian appreciates it. Rock on! 🤘🤘
Rock and Roll Over is the better album. A lot of the songs on Destroyer have been played to death.
I love them both. Would have liked to hear them play Love ‘Em Leave ‘Em, Mr. Speed, Flaming Youth, Sweet Pain , Take Me and See You In Your Dreams in concert more often.
Destroyer wins
I can't argue with that. Both great albums though!
Destroyer is superior... But imagine Rock n Roll Over (or Love Gun) with Bob Ezrin producing
That would be VERY interesting!
Imagine Bob Ezrin producing the first three albums which we all know and can hear how poorly produced they were.
@@SwitchFoot2007 I wish there was an alternate reality where we could hear those albums with the Bob Ezrin production!
@@damnwicked666 Bob Ezrin should have been KISS' producer from from the start. He knew exactly how to make them sound.
every single song on RnR Over is extended by 30-45 seconds by repeating the chorus over and over and over and fading out.
Now that you mention it, I think you’re right. It was a common practice back in the 50s, 60s 70s and 80s. I’m glad you brought my attention to that because now I wanna compare the song fade-outs on Rock And Roll Over with Destroyer’s song fade-outs.
These are the KISS classic albums. I'd give 9s or 10s to the majority of the songs. Sure there's a few crappers like Beth and Baby Driver but these albums ROCK!
Yes, they’re both great albums, worthy of high marks!
? Baby Driver? WTF. How is that a crapper? I like Peter's voice as much as the other two and more of a Rock and Roll style than Gene or Paul. Great lyrics and the hook is excellent. I have it on my play list when I ride my motorcycle. R&R Over was meant specifically to get away from the polish of Bob Ezrin, and to be more in line with Dressed to Kill. Destroyer was like the Elder, with Bob being the 5th member of the band (Ace hated it). Dressed to Kill and R&R Over are your classic Kiss albums. Dressed to Kill is my favorite studio album, and R&R Over is a very close 2nd. PS Don't hate on Beth. It brought them to super stardom.
@@ComradeJetski Yes, Dressed To Kill is a great album too!
@@ComradeJetski Nah Baby Driver and Beth aren’t great songs.
