Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal journey 🦊🤘🔥
They were rocking out the whole World Tour 2023/2024 and everyone were having a blast with the setlist, the new songs from latest album and the classic hits, especially GC! either you hate or love it, is a song with crazy amount of views and they don't wanna leave behind in any of their setlist just like they last weekend at FOX_FEST Festival.
They also recently released a new collab along with Electric Callboy is going viral and they played it together at the same festival i mentioned before, so come back with that reaction if you want to enjoy another super fun song while is hot.
Dance choreography and metal had never been seen before and they somehow managed to make it works creating their unique own genre called kawaii-metal, mixing Jpop and heavy metal along with many more sub genres and rhythms, you'll have so much fun going through this journey.
This isn't actually live sound, is studio album version over a live performance which was partially live only on the vocals and choreography with backing track sound. They have their own band called Kami Band introduced later on that same show and after that Kami Band become regular at live performance but they're not official members, only these trio are the front women.
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute) mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, so don't worry about their ages, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal".
    They are:
    *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26.
*MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24.
-YuiMetal- scream and dance, former member since 2018.
*MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 21 and is the new official member since April 1st last year.
    None of them are related.
After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said.
This was in December 2013 at SuMetal 16th Birthday, the other girls had 14 yo and there was a big party you have seen nothing yet, wait for _"Babymetal Death"._
The backing band here are called "baby-bones", they don't actually play they're just mimicking air playing instrument, later on this same concert and after 2014 you'll see the girls performing with a real band called the Kami Band, more of them later.
Some recommendations for next songs like:
    - _"Road Of Resistance"_ live in Japan official.
    - _Megitsune_ official MV.
    - _Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!_ live at this same live performance Legend 1997 in Makuhari Messe Japan when SuMetal is celebrating her birthday becoming a metal goddess queen and leaving her idol jpop form (you can find one at Gans Tomas channel under "Head Bangya" title).
You have more than 60 songs to discover. Amuse their label is very hard to deal so if you want to avoid copyright blocked you have "Babymetal Reactor Resource" channel you'll get full original clips of their best live performance with watermarked logo safe to react, look for "Future Plans" vid, follow instructions and you'll get all of them, upload the one with the logo for us and you can watch without it, don't worry for us we already saw all of them.
I'm gonna try to leave in my next comment where to get safe clips to react if YT allows me to do it.
    See you next time! 🦊🤘🍫

Great first reaction! 🤘🦊🤘 Thank you for giving BABYMETAL a chance!!! BABYMETAL is a Japanese kawaii (cute) metal group (a metal subgenre that they created) that formed in 2010 when the 3 girls were 11-12 years old (yes, they were very young), and since then have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Sabaton, Bring Me The Horizon, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Download, Sonisphere, Glastonbury, etc), US, and Asia. They are the first Japanese band to perform at Wembley arena in the UK. Also, 20+ awards have been given to them. They have 60+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too. Also, they released a new amazing album last year and they just finished a world tour where they had many shows here in the US. They also recently released a new music video for their song called "Metali" that features Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, and a few days ago they released the music video for "RATATATA" which is a collab with Electric Callboy! 🤘🦊🤘

Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Fox Hole ... (that will be explained the more you see and hear).
'Gimme Chocolate' is a simple song and one of their fun ones - they just want a piece of chocolate but are a bit worried about their weight. But it is chocolate, it would be so nice and would make them happy, so can they just have a piece of chocolate please?
This was the video that went viral in 2014 and got them noticed internationally - mainly for the WTF reactions it got, but there is so much more to them than this one song.
I'm glad you are planning on reacting to more BABYMETAL songs, some are fun like this one, others are deeper and more meaningful but all of them (they have about 70 now) are different. They have songs in virtually every metal genre but will also mix in many other musical styles and genres - they will surprise you every time.
Some songs are good hard metal others lean towards their pop roots and they do everything in between.
The original trio were Su-metal, Yuimetal and Moametal. Su-metal is the lead vocalist (the whole idea was formed and developed around her and her vocal talents), Yuimetal and Moametal provided backing vocals and harmonies, but their main function is involving and leading the audience with the choreo, so they are a very important part of what makes BABYMETAL different and unique.
They started in 2010 as a sub-unit of the Idol group Sakura Gakuin. Su was 12, Yui and Moa were 11. In 2013 they separated from Sakura Gakuin to become an independent band in their own right.
Sadly Yuimetal left the band in October 2018 after a 12 month absence for undisclosed health reasons. Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo - in live shows after Yui left they were supported by 3 dancers who would take turns to dance in the third spot - they were known as the Avengers, Riho, Kano and Momoko.
In April last year Momoko was revealed as the new third member (Momometal), restoring the trio after 4-5 years.
This video was filmed in December 2013 at the Legend 1997 concert - Su-metal was born in 1997, this concert was celebrating her 16th birthday (which was the day before). Yuimetal and Moametal are 18 months younger than Su and they were both 14.
As it was the official video the audio was dubbed on from the studio recording ... which is a shame as BABYMETAL are one of those rare bands who sound much better live - not least because you will get Su-metal's natural voice without all the over-processing and compression of the studio recordings - and she is an exceptional vocalist, but you also get the Kami Band, their backing band for live concerts, playing live.
Their backing band, the Kami Band, were phased in gradually from October 2012 playing festivals and encores in some shows. They became the full time backing band early in 2014.
If the musicians in a video (like they were in this video) are wearing skeleton suits that is not the Kami Band, that is the Babybones and they were miming the instruments to a backing track - they were there for show in the early days before BABYMETAL had the budget for a live band (no pretence was made otherwise, everybody knew what they were doing). The Kami Band are the ones in traditional white burial robes and white corpse face paint (more recently in black robes and now wearing masks ... nobody likes the masks).
The Kami Band are among Japan's very best session musicians and can play anything. They do swap out members now and then as they all have their own bands and projects, but they have had a hard core of about 6 or 7 who have played the vast majority of BABYMETAL's concerts.
For the 2019 and 2020 US and European tours the Kami Band of the West (American musicians from Galactic Empire on guitars and bass, Anthony Barone on drums) were introduced. The Kami band West seem to have become the full time support since April last year - they played nearly 100 concerts in 25 countries last year and have been continuing this year with more concerts and festivals.
Generally if you hear growls or screams in a BABYMETAL song it will be on the backing track which includes any additional instruments (piano, synth etc and some harmonies) - everything else is always live. It seems Momometal is bringing some growling to their songs now.
Can I suggest the Legend 1997 live performance of 'Headbanger' (look on the abr metal channel for that video) for your next reaction. Same show as this, but the Kami Band are on stage for that one and the audio is all live.
For something more recent try 'Divine Attack' from the PIA Arena in April 2023 - that was the first single they released in advance of the album they released in March last year.

Nice reaction, thanks and welcome to BABYMETAL.
"Gimme Chocolate" is "just" a fun song about the girls wanting to eat chocolate but being a little worried worried about their weight. But, yeah those instrumentals are very, very metal and the juxtaposition with the cute vocals, lyrics and choreo was totally the point of the song and the reason why this music video went viral back in 2014. Helping them a lot tbh. It's their most "popular" song but probably not their best one... just like their newer song (a collaboration with Electric Callboy called "RATATATA") which is going kinda viral currently.
Well, as other have already said, they are way better live for many reasons: Su-metal's live vocals, the Kami Band playing live, the choreo (unique for each song), their stage presence and the stage setups themselves, especially in large format shows (usually only in Japan), etc. Also they are very diverse musically since they don't hesitate on mixing any music genre with metal. So, always expect the unexpected. 😁
I second the suggestions for Headbanger (Live at Legend 1997) for a early song and performance (the same as the visuals on this MV but later on the show, already with the Kami band on stage). And "Divine Attack" (Live at PIA Arena 2023) as a newer one.
    Until next time!
    🤘🦊

Welcome to Babymetal, they are absolutely amazing! Gimme Choco is probably one of their most commercial sounding and goofy songs. Just girls wanting chocolate lol.
They are in their mid-20s today, and have replaced their child-like cutsiness with a more grown-up sassiness. These gals have been rocking the stage for 14-years so definitely industry heavyweights.
Check out *Metali (Official Live)* for a recent Nov 2023 performance. A fun metal festival song featuring Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine.
You can also do their newest single that just came out a few days ago in collaboration with Electric Callboy, called *Ratatata.* This one is just a fun party banger lol.
For something more somber: *Monochrome (Pia Arena MM, 2023)* for a more melodic, mid-tempo feel and *Rondo of Nightmare (Budokan 2014)* for something heavy and dark.

@@the_modus_project Lol, no shame in that, Babymetal is one of the few bands that make metal fun. So, embrace the goofiness all you want! 😆
Until you get to "BABYMETAL DEATH" from Legend 1997, yeah, 0% goofy, 100% brutal on that one. Funny enough, show closer to the same concert as the Gimme Choco video haha.

Welcome to the fox hole, you're in for a real treat as you explore their music.
As many others have said, they are incredibly varied, and will be just as likely to suprise you with the 20th or 30th song as with the first.
Looking forward to seeing your next reaction to them! 🦊

Welcome to the Fox Hole - the "baby" in BABYMETAL refers to the birth of a new metal genre, combining cuteness and metal.. into kawaii-metal. Plus it's also a pun - because BABYMETAL (ベビーメタル) looks very close to Heavy Metal (ヘビーメタル)when written out imported into Japanese
They have a lot of variety in their music, as additionally they love combining their kawaii-metal sound with various other genres.. to see what comes out 🦊
Lead singer is SU-METAL (born 1997). The two smaller girls are YUI-METAL and MOA-METAL (born 1999). At the end of 2017 YUI-METAL had a health problem and had to leave the band.. and she was replaced officially with MOMO-METAL (born 2003), so you'll see YUI-METAL in older videos, MOMO-METAL in newer videos
This song is still performed live at virtually every BABYMETAL concert - but like I say, there's a ton of depth and variety to uncover

Also, because the way it's written in Japanese it's also pronounced very similar, here it's written as it's spoken:
      Hebi metal
      Bebi metal

I would have to agree, if they are dressed like this and put out the same vibe when they reach their 30's it will be a bit weird. Thankfully they have matured and their music and dress reflects their current age. And while they still perform the songs they put out in their teens, it is less child like due to the more adult costumes and presentation. It will be interesting to see what this band looks like when they do reach their 30s.
