I would never say he trashes it - he actually uses the car as intended: spirited driving, not pepping it, no reckless driving, no unecessary drivetrain tearing. Really just like it's meant to be. :)
What a pleasure David was to interview about this beautiful machine! We spent a day filming this in the peaks and had some great fun pushing the limits in freezing conditions!!
Anyone that owns a well-sorted good running E30 M3 around the world *you are all GODS in my book!* Kudos to sound investment reasons and sheer driving excitement.
Only an E30 M3 owner can fully understand Dave's infectious passion. I see mine as a thoroughbred race horse; there to be let loose. Unforgivable to keep such a car under wraps as a museum piece. Although I do not drive mine on public roads (don't trust other road users), track days are a given. Wishing you many years of M3 enjoyment David.
Owned an E30 325i sport many years ago and it was the most well balanced and capable machine on B roads and could have handled much more power! The M3 was the dream! This one is an absolute belter!!
I love these. They look fantastic and this looks like a lovely example that has been cherished but used and enjoyed, and that’s he best bit; it’s not a garage queen.
I've got exactly the same, bought it 17 years ago and won't go for sale. I love driving it, it's not comparable to newer ones, it's as steadfast as a cart! Funny though you bought a left hand drive, realizing they produced more of them.
I love this car and his enthusiasm for it. But I wouldn’t like to be him in a classroom when his pupils see this video with him in his sunglasses inside haha
Either he is a very optimistic gent on the power figures or he passed the advanced course of ‘getting jiggy’ maths. There is no way cams, exhaust, and air box are giving you the power increases he quoted.
He mentioned pistons so he probably did the 2.5liter conversion. With this Setup, cams, airbox and Alpha N engine management 260hp are easily done. Expensive but totally doable.
If this was based on the 2.5 EvoSport model I could see the 270hp/260Nm claim holding up, but this looks like a standard M3. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong! Be interesting to see a full spec list. Sounds and looks fantastic, good to see it being driven as it was bred to be and not pimped and pampered in some heated underground garage to "protect the value".
@@Imola.clownshoe Get a grip pal. To raise the power by near 70hp/70ft-lbs would take more than a bloody set of cams and CAI. Answering to a 2 year old post as well? SMFH.
@@sarcastixx74 Not really, the carbon airbox upgrade also entails upgrading the engine management, usually Webber Alpha N or DTA management and loosing the biggest restrictions such as the OE airflow meter. The S14 is already a revvy engine and the head flows extremely well standard.
@@theslimrealshady Kinda makes a bit more sense now, when he said 270 torques I thought he meant Nm, but this was too close to the stock 240Nm and really didn't match the 70+hp increase. 270 Ft-Lbs makes more sense. But getting this kind of increase in any NA bmw is still questionable though, I spent a small fortune on both the E36 Evo and E46 M3 that I had and only seen about a 25hp gain at most from either of them. A 25% power bump in any NA car takes much more than cams/CAI. Not hating on the car in any way though, these cars are still holding their own in terms of handling/chassis dynamics as as an investment the values are still stratospheric 👍
With the 2,5 conversion and some additional parts 270hp are easily available with the s14 but you will pay a lot for the parts. Cams, airbox, Engine management and you will get 250hp but again key is the 2.5 Liter Upgrade.
7:55 Brilliantly said. The notion that cars should be seen as type of investment is ridiculous, they are depreciating assets. If you want to invest get into finance, if you want to drive get a car.
All ok except the comment "260 torques"...disappointing from a person who teaches engineering....I don't remember that being an SI unit! I guess it was NM. Nice car though & the enthusiasm is good to see.
270 bhp with an airbox and some cams? Course it is mate! 🤣 Was going to comment on the awful wheels, but then he sits indoors wearing sunglasses so its clear he has no idea about style!
Ok...so the 270bhp is a bit of a stretch.....all the same its a wonderful video. I've watched it more than 10 times. I too have an E30 M3 that i take on long trips and there is absolutely no car that can compare to it. Yes its very valuable but in my estimation the joy I get from it is worth far more than money in my pocket. I'm going to drive the old girl until either she or I give up !!!
I don't think David is too bothered about final numbers. More along the lines of how the car feels to drive. Dyno numbers can be made to read almost anything anyway these days!!!

Sublime isn’t it
I’m glad this e30 M3 is owner by a passionate owner that drives it. And not stanced out and can’t go over a leaf.
Haha true! This one is in good hands

Ah awesome! Yeah it is a beauty
I spent a bit of time behind David on a Supercar Driver event earlier in the year.... That thing is mental!
Isn’t it just! He knows how to pedal
He did mention that this thing had surprised a few SCD members at events at just how quick it was!!!
Brilliant film, well done
Thanks for watching

Living legends (both the car and the person) 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Brilliant vid again guys. David is such a nice fella, and you can't help but fall in love with his M3 when he talks about it! :-)
Quality video, I owned one of these for 15years, I regret selling it now, beautiful machines
Thanks for watching James! We all have cars we regret selling 😅 it’s a curse lol
Love it, love it ! The sound of this is so much better than all the new turbo charged crap!!!
Don’t make them like they used to!
That's how you love a car, awesome! Same reason why I bought and love my E21, they are just great driver's cars!
Thanks for watching Simon!
Wonderful to watch

Does anyone know what wheels he has?? I Need these for mine. Really completes the look
I thought they were Speedline SL1508s but according to the markings at 7:14 these are some kind of magnesium O.Z wheels.

This one is enhanced by the carbon airbox!
Is this the carbon intake from csl m3 sound smiler

The e30 is a great car all round and doesn't have to be an M3 to enjoy the drive.

Can I ask who restored it?
We will find out!

Should be enshrined in law that *all* remaining E30 M3's are running original BBS's!
