    That “screw ball” creature daffy transforms into isn’t a false memory! It’s from a cartoon where daffy is talking to the animator breaking the fourth wall, and the animator keeps messing with him by erasing him and drawing him as different things. Turns out if was Bugs doing all the drawing of course “ain’t I a stinker!” Lol

    Probably some of the best cartoon graphics I've seen on the N64. Characters don't look like a bunch of polygon sausages, they're on-model, their animations are smooth, the backgrounds don't look like blurry smeared textures, and there's no fog!

      No kidding, easily some of the most impressive art direction for any N64 game, its a shame the actual game isnt equally exceptional.

  • @houdin654jeff
    @houdin654jeff Год назад +23

    It’s kind of amazing how many references they managed to cram into this game… Hassan and the Abominable Snowman only appear in one cartoon each, I think… Rocky is in a few with Bugs Bunny, the flower headed screwball Daffy is from Duck Amok, obviously the whole thing with Marvin is from the original Duck Dodgers short, though his plan to blow up Earth (“It obstructs my view of Venus”) is from a Bugs cartoon. Even the boxing mini game and the turtle character are references, though again, to Bugs Bunny cartoons.

  • @nybergsgarage

    @14:00
    so for ducks being in the water when it's cold, they actually do that pretty regularly. they have a layer of body oil in their feathers that not only keeps water off them, but also insulates them pretty well.

    I grew up with this game and it was one of the first games I ever played. Planet X is still one of the most fun worlds I've ever played in a video game and the music is so joyous. I've always loved how Daffy controls, too. You can get a lot of things done with his twitchy, high jump.
    Some of the glitches did creep me out, though. There's a glitch in Planet X with the green Martian. Plus, on the snow planet, I also encountered a glitch in which the green puffer fish actually floated out of the water and chased me. That scared the shit out of me as a kid. Those enemies freaked me out in general because of the muffled, hissing noise they would make when they attacked you.
    The sewer level on Planet E (the earth world, I think) also was the first level to truly scare me as a kid. It was so dank and creepy to me back then, and I remember actually making my mom stay in the room with me as I traversed that section where you fill the room with water and a monster is in the water waiting to attack you. My mom was like, "Ryan, you're seriously scared of a Daffy Duck game?!" 😂
    I'm happy to see a more high-profile RUclipsr talk about and play this game, because it's pretty obscure. Not a lot of people played this game and no one really talks about it anymore. It honestly feels like I'm the only one who had this game as a kid.

    *16:44** Planet X* is the name of a theoretical ninth (or tenth since your book still has Pluto) planet in the solar system. It's mostly a fringe theory, and in those versions Planet X is either some harbinger of apocalypse or possibly even the home of the Atlantians. But there have been some studies that have speculated that it might be expected that a tenth planet could exist, with an unusual orbit that sends it far beyond Pluto most of the time. It's not _impossible,_ but it's never been directly observed, so yeah

    Planet X is a long theorised 10th planet beyond the orbit of Pluto. Of course when the word planet was given a proper definition, there were only 8 planets in the solar system, so the term Planet X is no longer relevant.
    The event that made the word planet need a proper definition was the discovery of Eris in 2006. Which is actually more massive than Pluto. Some people initially described it as the 10th planet, or Planet X. This, and the prospect of other large objects in the outer solar system (there have been many similar discoveries since), prompted astronomers of properly define what a planet is. It’s interesting stuff.
    And really, Pluto not being a planet is much more prestigious. It’s no longer the 9th and least significant planet, but the first and most famous trans-Neptunian object.

      @@Diddy64wii yeah, I realised that right after the comment. Figured it didn't really matter enough to go back and change it. I forgot how much fog turok had. But I remember the controls were awesome, set the premise for pretty much all modern day dual analog fps setup. They used the 4 C buttons as forward, back, and strafe and used the analog as look around.
