i think deadpool cleared it in his movie when he was joking about how cinematographic domino's powers are. changing a media's format to something else is always hard. i always listen to how much my wife hates the 50 shades movie series but its understandable to cut everything out that from the books so even a nonromantic asshole like me can follow. its hard to follow even the comic book when the comic book doesn't even follow the comic book with all the retcons and reboots. with so many artists and writers for their comics, and different portrayals in live action and animation and hell even video games--who is your definitive versions of Spiderman, Superman and Batman?

Time & time again WB proved to have ruined the DCEU actively. Tbh, ever since Reeves’ 3rd movie. Admitted to never having a plan but then botching all of Snyder’s & other directors works. Fans are right to be mad at WB & stick with Snyder. Even one of the best of our generation, Chris Nolan & other fans/“fans” turned on him too. Yet all Snyder fans are the “toxic” ones. Smh. Sure, we want it to finish but we moved onto other Snyder projects yet Snyder haters keep hating for whatever reason.

Truth be told I’m not really a comic super fan myself sure I enjoy reading the occasional volume, but it’s actually kind of difficult to find a comic book store these days most everything is gone online. Mostly what got me into the characters marvel and DC specifically were all the animated shows that I watched reruns of when I was a kid.

Well, about that point with comic book based movies not being mythology, due to adapting and changing something pre-existing.
That's literally what Romans did. And Hellenes. And Christians. And so on.
Mythology has been adapting older stories forever. Very rarely something wholly original.
The Roman goddess Venus, was an adaptation of the Hellenist goddess Aphrodite who in turn was an adaptation of Inanna/Ishtar.

Not only that, people straight-up altered myths without being held to any form of accountability. Ovid dedicated most of his work to giving the middle finger to the Roman Empire and any authority figure he could find (He was the responsible for introducing the idea of a human Medusa being raped by Poseidon and curse by Athena, even though most Greek sources indicate she was born a monster).

Let’s put Dragon Ball evolution on that list of things that got public domain and we all had to go through it and some of us were lucky enough not having to go through it because literally that’s not my biggest fear my biggest fear out of anything is that if I try to make a comic book or try to make something out of my own work somebody might try to turn into a movie try to profit off of it and I get none of it I get no money I get no fame I literally just can’t say in the way of bragging rights that I created this but everyone else will look at it like yeah you might’ve created it but where’s all the money? Honestly I do not wanna end up like the creator of Batman where I have nothing to show for myself but struggle.

There has been, but they are very few and far betwee. The only person that comes to mind for me is Ryan Reynolds. He GENUINELY cares about comic book fans, and the creatives behind it (he literally had easter eggs of Rob Liefield in the Deadpool 3 trailer)

Comics are too expensive for me. Loved DC, Marvel & other nerdy/geeky things since a kid.
Idfk how when Stan Lee’s daughter came out & said Disney didn’t treat Stan right, Idfk how some “fans” told her to shut up & they did treat him right bc they put him in THEIR movies! 😳🤦🏽‍♂️ and yea, I can believe Disney used him as a show pony.
After Sam became the new Cap in Endgame, I saw some “fans” get mad bc “caps not black” these were in FB MCU groups. 😂 then they said “what if Black Panther was white?!” I showed both Sam as Cap from the comics pics & the White Panther which I think is his brother in some issues. There’s even a Latina version.

Have you seen the series "The Falcon and The Winter Soldier" ? There in the last episode Sam literally gives a speech on how he can see in the people's eyes see their unacceptance of him being Captain America because he is black.
For me it was among the best Marvel series and also suprisingly political.

I don't think this needs much proving.
I've never read a single comic book my whole life, but I watched Marvel Movies and DC Justice League cartoons as a kid, as well as everything Spiderman.
Very very few people are true comic book vans. The comic book market ruined itself over decades of gatekeeping, variant covers, exploitation, and narrow narratives. They made comics the medium of men in tights and it could have been the medium for all stories, like it is with Manga, which thrives because it's for everyone. Not just 12-18 year old boys as a primary market.
Comics have always been niche, and nothing has changed that, much to it's own detriment.
I have ready hundreds of manga by contrast. The reason being, there are more types of stories.
If comics ever opens its doors and culture to being more than just superhero backstories for movies and toys... than comics will have more real fans.

Comics have definitely changed from just superhero backstories. The problem is that people only think of the big two(marvel/DC). I recommend looking into “Image comics” they have different genres of books.

Yeah, I can imagine if you go up to one of those modern day, common book writers and asked about Stanley Lee. Would they stump over all the stories that Stanley created. Like how most of the Disney Company actually believe that Walt Disney was a child hating, racist, homophobic, and anti-thematic man. Even though if Walt Disney was all these things, Disneyland would have been created at all.

  • @irrevenant3

Massive fan of comics but I'd say that superhero stories are the modern mythology, regardless of which medium you tell them in. The MCU is mythology, with or without the comics, IMO.
