little warning: this is a LONG ranting comment abt how proud i am of lovejoy , so . read if u wanna kill some time lmao man this made me think about the time wilbur showed some shitty scuffed video of lovejoy as a sneak peak on stream . it was the boys playing live in an empty room and the audio was garbage (like the instrumentals would Blast over wil’s voice so we couldnt hear him lol) and he knew it , but everyone was still so hype i was there for before lovejoy was officially out there making music , when wilbur mentioned maybe having a band he’s doing stuff with on stream , not name dropping or adding any more info . i remember when are you alright? came out , i remember watching the one day and taunt music videos when they came out , and it was the same with pebblebrain (i remember him playing one of the songs - its all futile its all pointless ; the original - on stream , before pebblebrain . he played it differently from what i remembered from the original , and i figured out after pebblebrain that he was playing the remade version before it even came out) i remember their first gig as lampwithsock , the way it went sort of badly as the venue n such didnt know how to do their sound properly for what the boys were playing , bc they didnt know anything abt them or their music lmao . the way that the audience was mainly their friends and a few strangers who had no clue as to who they were . and thinking abt that to their gigs (concerts) now , its fucking crazy . because every single gig ever since they started playing under their actual name has sold out , and theyre gonna play to 17k people . theyve played in lollapalooza to 10k people . theyre playing on the same stages as huge well-known artists and inspirations , to a bunch of fans that all shout their lyrics out , and its only been a year or so since their first gig (maybe 2 , not sure) . theyve come so far and its fucking mental , and its crazy to think that i was there to witness all of it in real time - from before lovejoy , when wilbur was just teasing shit - to now . to them selling out huge venues and getting on a bunch of interviews and getting recognition by big radio stations and the like . they started out big from wilbur’s content creation n the subsequent fandom from it , yes , but that was only in a specific corner of the internet . compared to now , theyre big in a very different and ,, bigger way - getting actual Real Life recognition , outside of their dedicated fanbase on the internet like i dont know much about the whole music industry and have never been invested (i dont listen to many bands or artists at all) but even i know that this shit is on a different level . “the biggest band youve never heard of” is the perfect title for them lol , they showed up outta nowhere and grew so much in such little time its weird to think about the development of everything and where i was through all of it . i was there to watch when their first ep came out , i was there to see leaks and sneak peaks of new songs from fan channels , i was there to see videos of them playing gigs to a room of fans in the uk and being jealous bc i wish i could be there , and i was there in the minneapolis gig , finally seeing them perform live irl (and it was only bc i was incredibly stupidly lucky LMAO ,, im not gonna explain , its a long story) theyve come so far and i couldnt be prouder or more amazed . the boys are going big , and i cant wait to be there for every step of the way :)) (i had to rewrite this whole thing , not exactly the same bc i aint remembering all that , bc youtube decided not to actually post my comment . goddammit) edit: bro someone (idk who) replied with “bro is the mayor of yaptown” and i found it so fucking funny but its gone 😭😭 im genuinely kinda sad
