    I ordered one of these. And it came in the basic box which was clearly not appropriate to ship in. I’ve never received a guitar in such condition. Yours was shipped in a 2nd box. Mine was destroyed when the guitar arrived. When I gave it a look-over, the body had a crack in it near the heel. Also, I thought the finish sucked and the maple neck was not finished well. I returned it to guild. I shipped it back in my own 2nd box because there was no way the guitar was going to make the return trip in just the original box. I got my full refund.

    • @Trog
      @Trog  7 месяцев назад +32

      A quick wipedown of the neck will do wonders for the tacky feel of the neck out of the box. What issue did you have with the gloss finish? These were double boxed since two were ordered and Reverb supplied these rather than Guild

    • @APMTenants

      A Squier Bullet with Guild on the headstock. Obviously, Trogly is making a small commission on each one and is being dishonest about the quality. I’m done with this channel.

    • @kire6053
      @kire6053 7 месяцев назад +2

      @@APMTenants As someone who actually bought one I have to disagree with you here. I will concede that the tone and volume knobs are not good. They are very loose and it can sometimes be difficult to engage the coil split because of that. But that's my only complaint. While the neck did feel raw and tacky, it got smoother as I played it, unlike the Squier Affinity strat I had, and the Guild now has a smooth satin feel. The frets have been done very well, there's no sharp edges and if the frets are uneven, I haven't noticed, which is more than I can say for my Squier 40th Anniversary Tele's neck. I got it roughly a month ago and it's been my main guitar since (although I'll have to see if that changes if/when I get a new neck for my tele). Like I said, the setup out of the box was great, it feels great to play (aside from the knobs), and sounds incredible. I don't know what other reasons you have for not trusting this channel, but this really shouldn't be one.

    There's way more fret variety besides 22 or 24. Fender typically does 21, and 20 isn't super uncommon on some vintage based models as well. While 23 is more rarer to see, it's not uncommon. Anything between 20 to 24 is normal.

    I have the evergreen deluxe surfliner and it rips. I honestly couldn't recommend these enough. Everything about these guitars from pickups to color to neck and playability is impressive. But if no one else wants them, not a problem for me I'll continue to buy them =).

  • @iamarocketship
    @iamarocketship 5 месяцев назад

    I bought one because of the price, thinking if it was disappointing it could at least be a fun thing to do weird mods to, if it was mediocre maybe I could use it for gigs in really sketchy bars or overheated festivals. If it was good? Hooray!
    It's pretty good. Arrived in fine shape. Same impressions: impeccable paint, "good enough" satin finish on the maple. Frets were cut and seated just fine but I polished them up a little. It was easy to get the truss rod dialed in for low action. I put Dunlop strap buttons on because I happened to have some. Tuners seem to be fine.
    Balances well. Neck has a bit of heft to it. The two pickup switches seem gimmicky, and I'd prefer a regular toggle. The sound was okay, but the bridge pickup seemed a little dull. I lowered both the pickups a bit and raised the pole pieces, and they now are a bit brighter and have more "bounce." I'd like to hear a couple TV Jones Powertrons in this, but it's okay as is.
    Objectively, there's no reason you couldn't take this onto any stage and get good results. Subjectively you might hate the headstock, the color, or something. Cool, we all have preferences. But it functions perfectly well at a great price.

The first time I saw one was when I was looking for unique bridge/tailpiece assemblies to use with an offset hardtail partscaster I was building. I loved the look of the tune-o-matic with string-through ferrules. It has so much character that I eventually bought one. It reminds me of some of those classic 60s guitars that you don't see often anymore, like mosrites or danelectos.

      It's amazing how fat, rich, and dark they sound - yet still amazingly clear on the distortion. Definitely something that makes Thayil's tone not just straight metal.

    The selector switches would take some practice. For those of us who switch pickup settings multiple times during a song, and need to do it very quickly, it could be challenging to avoid accidentally flipping both switches at once when the intent was to only flip the front one.
    Otherwise, looks like a fun guitar that has a Fender-ish look.
    BTW, while I love my Gibsons, the Guilds that I own, and those others I've played, are very high quality and sound great. Now to find someone who can play them well enough to bring their great sound to life. 😉

    I quite liked these apart from the fretboard edges not being rolled, it looked as though they didn't even have a little sanding done to them to take the sharp edge away.
    The natural neck and fretboard combined with the very basic screen printed logo makes them look cheap, like Squier Bullets do.
    A slight tint to the maple would make a massive difference to these guitars and a two colour screen print would not make much of a difference to the price.
    Talking about the price, to me they look like a $200 guitar

      With 2, you can turn all p'ups off, and use 1 in a fun way ^^ with only one switch, you'd be searching for that right position, sometimes in the dark, I like that you can't miss, and no chance of knocking it out of position on accident. Reminds me of Fender Jaguar, or those 80's guitars with push button selectors. It's a unique look, I like unique, but it's not for everyone I get that too.

    This guitar seems like it must better than the price bracket it is currently in, and that it is easily worth every penny, I have seen the advertisements for this model and was astonished about the sales price.
    I have to really consider getting one now.
    At this price, I would not be surprised to see some of these models being modified at all, a couple of extra potentiometers would be very easy to add, along with a three-way toggle switch, I suspect we will be seeing some of these being modified in a variety of ways.

    I have daydreamt of purchasing this guitar after having owned five Guild acoustics (two of which I still have) but never an electric guitar of theirs. Only thing, I keep wondering if I want another solid body guitar. I've grown partial to thinline models lately, and the ones built by Guild may be awesome, but they're not really for me.

    I like it other than those switches, they look like the power switch on a vacuum cleaner or something, just doesn’t fit a guitar.

    I noticed that some people are getting soft cases, and others aren't Oo BTW, I ordered one after watching, thanks! =) ABSOLUTELY worth double what I paid just from what I've seen and heard.

    Now if they could just build one that sounds like their early 70's acoustics.
    Maybe it was just that one but man I've never heard anything else like it.

    Everybodys ears are different and to my ears it sounded horrible but for $269 its cheap enough to put some good pickups in it.

      Must’ve been the factory that made the epiphones cause those labels on the back of the pups are the same as the ones I pulled time after time out of Epi’s

    sadly, as much as that guitar COULD do, it wont do the one thing i wanna do, which is find a cheap platform for a floyd rose. those string holes kind of mess everything up

    Guild's tag line should be "Home of the weird switches".
    My name for the master volume knob is "The Suck Switch" because it makes everything suck unless you bypass it.

    Im newly getting into guitars and whatnot and I just got my first electric for 100 dollars. Im genuinely curious what justifies the multiple hundreds of dollars for prices and why people are just ok calling a 200-400 dollar guitar cheap. the fender squier strat goes for like 120-160 and serves the exact same purpose as every other guitar. And considering how guitars only have 2-3 styles and almost all look basically the exact same except for branding, while all sounding just like every other guitar, why are people willing to spend over 1000 dollars for something you could basically get the same of for like 200. Pedals, strings, amps, etc. can all entirely change how it sounds if you know what your doing and ive seen comparisons of cheap vs expensive guitars that sound nearly the same. so really why are such high prices justified?

    The Guild's need a trem system to be a true surf guitar though.
