This is so great! I have recently been gradually losing vision.. it’s been shocking and extremely frustrating not being able to do the things I used to-especially being a mom, this was not how I wanted to be w my daughter. She’s growing and I have been letting her go w others and I’ve just been isolating a lot lately… I feel like a burden… also I find I have to explain to others alllllll the time that I can not see very well… and I hate saying it all the time.. but u gals have great energy- this is all very scary! And overwhelming❤️✨👍🏻👍🏻
I know exactly how you feel… It is a hard place to be in! Only over the last seven years have I really felt the impact of sight loss, having to change my whole life, feeling like a burden to everyone around me… When it seemed like it was declining rapidly, I panicked, and started to try to find resources that could help me with transition and adaptation. I felt lucky that I had went most of my life, not needing those things, but also cheated that it happened earlier than I expected at the same time. There have been some horrible things, and also some wonderful things that have happened in the last seven years. The most important one was making sure I was surrounded by non-judgmental, supportive people. That one was an eye-opener, pun intended! Lol because a lot of the people I thought were supportive, or not, and a lot of people I didn’t know in my community were . I wish you peace and grace and the ability to find the strong and effective support you need while going through this change.… Believe it or not my life is better now than it was 10 years ago when I could see much better. Your friend on the human journey, Susan💛
I love the fact that you went in Casey because I’ve gone to space camp in Huntsville Alabama and you get to do higher elements there and I’ve done it declined and honestly it is a good feeling but you know when you’re flying in the air it’s just it’s it’s brilliant and I’ve actually done a shit flying backwards into the lake there if you well but it’s brilliant and I to recommend it because I’m an adrenaline junkie
Cayla with a C I love the fact that you went skating like actual iceskating because that’s something I would love to do here in Ireland sometime or just any country I’ve got to do it and I would like to go on a summary and I would love to snog really would love to snog

This was a great video guys. I love both your channels. And LOL, running in the walls and listening to audiobook sounds fairly accurate for me. No but seriously, I know what you mean about people thinking that we don’t do anything just because were visually impaired. It’s ridiculous. I love horseback riding and whenever I tell people that they’re shocked.
There is a blind hockey league in Canada as well. The zoo would be my favourite thing on your list of things. I am totally blind, but I’m a huge animal lover and just the atmosphere is great.
Awesome video. Love that you had the opportunity to collaborate with Casey. Such a fun topic to discuss. I hope that you and Casey can do more collaborations in the future.
Thanks for sharing! I am always trying to find fun family activities to do with my son who has RP. He is a great dancer and also enjoys baking. He made us pancakes for breakfast last weekend.
Sailing! There are actually many programs available throughout the country and the world for blind and visually impaired sailing that accommodate everything from people that just want to know the basics for going out and having casual fun sails to world-class competitive racing. The racing isn’t just “inspiration porn”, pretend competition under extremely easy circumstances… It is true hard-core competitive sailing! We’ve had world-class Olympians and Americas cup sailors involved with our sailing programs
Awesome video and collab. As a completely blind person, some of the activities I have experienced and enjoyed are: Downhill skiing: I haven't done this in over two decades but my, it was great fun! I had a guide ski in front of me and call out directions. I never got super good at it, nor did I participate in it competitively but I'll never forget zooming downhill with my long hair flying behind me. Visiting science type museums and academies: I love science and anything relevant to that subject always piques my interest. My love for science museums came to fruition when I visited the San Francisco Explortorium as a kid. Horseback riding: Another activity I'm not great at and haven't done in years, but I fell in love with horses when I met a gorgeous gentle pony named Alca at the age of eight. I've only ridden horses on a few trails. As long as I knew where I was going, I could steer and direct the horse. I learned a ton and loved it. Concerts and shows: I love live concerts, especially Broadway shows and music festivals. It is so invigorating to experience the energy of the performers and to be part of an enraptured audience. I also love amusement parks and don't care how much greasy food I consume when I'm there. It's great fun to scream my head off on roller coaster rides, even if I have to be on vocal rest afterwords. I've always had an interest in photography. Even though I can't see the pictures I take, I'm forever fascinated with the process. With technology such as the iPhone and lots of feedback from sighted friends, I'm beginning to learn how to capture the world around me. I'll never be as good as someone with vision maybe, but it's a fun challenge regardless.
I love amusement park rides in my opinion the higher the better the more German and more physical energy I just love amusement park rides I really really love
Love seeing live, it’s a different sound than recorded sound. I also love conventions like comic con. I go with sighted support who describes all on sale. I love to travel which hasn’t left since losing sight. I also love art such as drawing, painting, sculpture.
I totally agree that there is something different about live music. That’s cool that you go to conventions. I would like to someday go to the big Disney convention that they have
Guy with RP here. Peripheral all but gone but have enough left right in the center to enjoy target shootibng. When shooting recreationally, it's surprising how little peripheral is needed to shoot at targets. Also, a lot of the skill is not just sight; I can outshoot fully sighted people!
Excellent video. We can do a lot of things. As a home owner I have been in need of learning how to do a lot of stuff. From mowing the lawn to fixing concrete surfaces. Everyday we learn something new.
This is such a great video with both perspectives from two of my most favorite RUclipsrs. I have always been legally blind and have enjoyed several of these activities that you both mention. With better vision when I was younger I love to drawl and use charcoals and pastels and oil paint I also took dance gymnastics and even minored in dance in college. I love to ride horses and as a legally blind child, rode my bicycle everywhere. I absolutely love traveling, exploring castles and far away countries, experiencing the atmosphere, culture and especially different foods and cuisine’s. I love plays and live musicals and swimming And swam on a competitive team as a teen. I have never experience zip lining and that sounds exhilarating. I have only been ice-skating one time and I loved it but have not had the opportunity to learn to control myself on the ice. I love rollerskating and can do that when holding someone’s hand, now that I don’t have functional vision. It still is great fun. This is such a positive way to not only give others with visual impairments, ideas on activities, but also encourage people who are newly blinded, that life is still a lot of fun after losing vision. There is still so much fun to be had and lots of activities that can be done. Thanks to both of you for this great video. Stay safe and happy!
Cayla with a C exploring castles is much more fun now that my vision requires a cane and or guide dog. In the past, I just tried to wing it with my husband and cited guide but more recently, I traveled several countries with my white cane and did a better job than my cited traveling companions. The Kane detected all of the irregular surfaces, uneven steps, winding stair cases with strange shapes, much better than the vision of the other tourists. I was very happily surprised on how useful The white cane was. Maybe someday soon we both can get back to traveling and exploring our world. Stay safe and happy!

Jordan mahony The blind world hi Jordan, wasn’t this a great thought inspiring video that both Kayla and Casey collaborated on? Because I have watched your videos and I know that you are very adventuresome, I expect that in the future I will see you scuba dive and bungee jump and maybe see you fencing as well. I know that you are very active and you seem to find ways to get out and do the things you are interested in. That is fantastic but like you said, we will just have to see how this thing goes with the pandemic and our ability to get back out there and do the things we love doing.
This was great. Nicely done you two 😀 You both shared some pretty cool hobbies. I’ve been trying to convince my brother to go skydiving with me. I’ve never done it before but it’s on my bucket list.
I love to cook and bake, exercise, and attending sporting events. This blind girl, like you and Casey, refuses to just sit there and let time pass by. 😊
Awesome! I’m working on my cooking skills. I’m trying to get better at it, but I don’t think it will ever become a hobby for me, just a practicality to feed myself lol

I recently got my second vitrectomy surgery in my left eye, and I am legally blind in one eye. This is new for me and I'm still so bad with my awareness and I'm sick of sitting here listening to audiobooks and music 😭😭
Wonderfull video! There is so many things one can do and enjoy even legally blind or vip! I love sailing. I need some one to navigate and give me the right direction, but i can feel the wind, trim the main sail and use tiller. And enjoy a lot!
I love photography/videography especially of airplanes. No, I can't see well in bright sunlight (outdoor selfies are really hard too) but I just kinda point my phone at where I think it should be and usually it's a pretty decent shot.
I used to; play paintball every weekend as a teenager, i wasn’t horrible at it. I rode bmx freestyle and bmx tracks, quit due to injuries not caused due to vision. Loved running 3 to 9 miles in the rain, lost to much vision to continue. I was on a bowling league for 10 years and had a love hate relationship with it, haven’t been bowling in 5 years. Things i like doing now; i like getting tattoo’d, i like the pain & the hours to just think while under the needle. Like watching live bands or performing with a band, as a musician i need music in my life. I like mixed martial arts especially Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It is a mental and physical sport, and i like trying to conquer both aspects of the sport.
I met a young Blind fellow At harvest fest the other day for church and I've never enjoyed visiting with someone so much I was sad when it was time to go I am an empty key and consider disabled. I'm on disability and I don't work I'm hoping we could be friends I'm trying to learn what I can I don't Get attached to people that easy it usually takes me a bit to warn up
I love ice skating! I do it competitively, but It’s hard when I have to turn my head every five seconds since I don’t have very much peripheral vision. :\ But I use posters to see the axis and everyone is really understanding! I would definitely recommend ice skating and hockey to anyone with a vision impairment to try out. Note about the hockey: there’s some low vision hockey teams around the US and maybe in the rest of the world, since it’s quite hard to track the puck. It’s sad when my dad would say if I didn’t have a vision impairment I’d be an incredible hockey player. My brother plays hockey, but I’m glad I still have an outlet to be on the ice, it’s great! And yes the contrast is the best! I have lots of problem with contrast so it helps since most wear dark pants. :))))
There is not just iceskating or ice hockey in America there is actually an ice hockey team for the Blind in Canada and they play internationally for Canada which I think is brilliant
Emily N well the problem in this world and just for the stereotypes come into it when you go blind or visually impaired or have a disability mentally you have voices in your head telling you you can’t do this you can’t do that whereas one message that I will always go back to and I don’t care which from power rangers time force which is technically a kids show but there is one message - West Collins the main character he has just message we each choose our own destiny and my destiny is to help my friends but ultimately we each choose our own destiny
Hi Cayla, I am not an outdoors person like you so some of the things I enjoy doing are crafts like crocheting and hand sewing just I love doing things with pictures and video tape and just I don't know it's as I lose my sight it's sad but I know that what I do now will be there when even when I can't see it
I am low vision and I ride four wheelers by myself and I ride on the road following my dad we were headsets so we can talk to each other and we were semi-reflective vest. He wears a white one so I can see it well.
I have some friends from church who are visually impared and I was thinking about inviting them to a local state park in WI sometime this summer. What is your opinion about swimming and hiking as fun activities visually impared folks enjoy? :)
I think swimming is a great activity. Hiking I think it depends on the person and how treacherous the terrain is. You can always invite them and then let them decide if they feel comfortable with those activities
Hey Kayla and Casey I want you guys to know that I am now watching your collaboration and I thought it was brilliant the activities that you outlined is brilliant I want to do this activity Sunday so might already done but I would love to do the rest and I too love heart by the way
@@CaylawithaC I enjoy your videos and learned a good deal about dealing with vision loss. I am 48 and been legally blind for about 2 years due to Macular Dengeneration. My good eye is around 20/400 and my bad one mo long measure, just Count Fingers (CF) at about 2 feet. I find the best way to deal with vision loss is to stay positive. When people learn of my vision loss and say "I am sorry". I reply "its not a big deal, it's not fatal. Keep up the good work with the RUclips posts

That’s all really awesome! Thanks so much for sharing!
That’s really awesome!
There is not just iceskating or ice hockey in America there is actually an ice hockey team for the Blind in Canada and they play internationally for Canada which I think is brilliant
Jordan mahony The blind world oh my gosh that’s awesome!! I’m glad people aren’t held back from the sports they love☺️☺️☺️
Thanks it's really inspired me God bless u
Hi Cayla, I am not an outdoors person like you so some of the things I enjoy doing are crafts like crocheting and hand sewing just I love doing things with pictures and video tape and just I don't know it's as I lose my sight it's sad but I know that what I do now will be there when even when I can't see it
Those are great hobbies. Thanks for sharing
Hey girls! Fun video. I enjoy water sports like tubing and skiing. My husband and I also have traveled a lot!
Awesome! I’ve been tubing a few times as well
I wish I lived near some nice hiking trails. I walk a lot anyway.👍
@@CaylawithaC That sounds nice. Thank you Cayla! Keep up the good work! :)
I am legally bling and I actually enjoy bike riding and urban exploring

I like bowling too. I’m terrible at it though. I have to have the bumpers
I love all is well and sometimes I have to use my strength to trouble but I don’t think that I’m not Bolick
Horse riding! I also enjoy traveling concerts and dancing
Awesome!

I am a partially blind.
I am also a youtuber and try to sensitize the society about blindness and blind community.
Today I was planning to make a video on white cane.
So I thought so let's check what kind of stuff available on RUclips about the subject and I've landed on your video.
It was really really helping me to create my content also on the same topic 🙂
Alone much more topics also to cover in my video.
I totally inspired with your work through this RUclips channel.
Keep sharing such a fantastic content.
I would like to keep in touch with you and a other blind content creator from your country.
