Awkward? LOL, it's standard practice. It helps spice up the visuals, it helps illustrate the context, it helps control the pace of the interview (giving breaks for the viewer stop and process what he just heard before), and it stops it being just a static talking head interview.

Netflix isn’t a “style” or aesthetic. The look and tone of whatever you are shooting is dependent upon the director’s vision, and the cinematographer’s execution. There are upwards of 100 different factors that play a part in the look. There is no standard “Netflix style”. The general explanation here, and the process is great. But the title is just silly.
Interview shots & drone shots great. Storytelling terrible...no tension...I didnt feel anything, .keep up the good work guys but some more eye on the narrative.
