What a lovely way to say goodbye to your home. We will move this week, after 16 years in this house. I will cry and miss it, even if we finally found an old house in the countyside, that has everything we have been wishing for. But still... Home is home, and it takes some time to get that feeling in a new place.
I have an excessive amount of clothes hangers left from 4 grown children ….I’ve procrastinated in getting rid of them and fell asleep with a pile of them in my bed … had a dream I was being attacked by hangers and woke up with them all scattered about and my foot was stuck in one …. I think the hangers won the fight! Yikes 😳

You are lucky Vera as your home is already decluttered- moving will be relatively easy. My father died last week and I'm currently clearing his very large house. I had no idea he had so much clothing- I have approximately 30 large sacks full of clothing alone- 50% for charity and 50% to be recycled. I managed to donate lots of unopened food and toiletries to the food bank but there is still a lot to do. Everyone should keep their home clutter-free as not fair that loved ones have to face this following bereavement. Ive already had to declutter 2 other relatives belongings (both hoarders) and was forever having to tidy up the office I used to share. I wish they taught minimalism in schools ! Looking forward to seeing your new home Vera- I plan to move next year so will be looking for inspiration. Ive stayed in my current apartment for 25 years!! 😮
Yes, this. My in laws house is a big old farmhouse with tons of rooms plus the hobby farm they have. Every room has STUFF from ceiling to floor. So much clutter. I dread the day they pass away or move out and we have to go through it all. It will be so time consuming.

I loved the one that said: everything we bring home ends up being garbage! So true! If we thought about that more often and consciously, we wouldn’t buy so many things we don’t need. Leaving an apartment may be difficult. I too felt really emotional when I left the apartment I had lived in for 29 years. When we moved from our home of 14 years we knew we are going into a better situations. But we also took time to be thankful for all the great times and memories we made in that home. Life is an adventure. It’s ok to be quiet and cry and then smile because of the wonderful new opportunity!!! Yeah to a new home :)))
Vera, I love that when we moved from our old home I took pictures of every room from all angles, then walked through and made a video talking about each room and some favorite memories. My kids will love watching it for years to come.
I'll admit that this video holds some very deep thoughts and insights that I could probably work on confronting more often... I've practiced minimalism for what feels like forever now, but because I don't hold myself to strict standards as much as I used to when it comes to certain interests and hobbies, this can put me in a mindset that feels two-sided in some ways. Like when is enough, enough? I feel like deep down, we all have our own little guilty pleasures when it comes to shopping, and there's obviously nothing wrong with that! I guess sometimes, listening to your better conscience is just difficult because of that compulsive desire that we have at the moment 😅

Moving can be bittersweet. Although it’s usually to improve your quality of life either by buying your first home or moving into a bigger home it’s also hard to leave a place that has given you so many memories. We have been in our current home for 22 years since our son was little so it holds many memories. We have also bought a home to retire to but have yet to make the move. I am ready to downsize and have less to look after but it comes with the cost of leaving our beautiful home where we have raised our son. I know when I move it will be very emotional.😢 Good luck on the move and I will look forward to seeing your new home.❤️🙏

Thanks for all of your thoughtful videos, Vera❤ I finally did a HUGE decluttering of my wardrobe and also of household items stored in my cupboards and pantry. It took about 3 trips to Goodwill with a loaded up SUV 😂 it was so worth it, thank you for your encouragement. You’re so correct when you say a home is not a place to store stuff! I thought bc I have plenty of storage space that it’s ok to to save everything “ just in case” 🎉
Funny isn’t it. I use certain things I own to talk to me so I remember to use them of do a job I often forget. For example I put my cats nail clippers in a spot that they remind me I have to cut my cats claws but have never thought about them talking to me in a negative way. Love this idea and the garbage one. Definitely going to use these two thoughts to help me stay more minimal. Thanks Vera.

I was waiting for the sprint. I attended the lessons years ago and was very content with my progress of speaking skills and I got the money back at the end.
I feel you Vera. We left our 10 years rented apartment since we bought our new home 3 years ago and that made me emotional too. We have too much memories with my late mom, kids and extended family in that apartment. The night before we left I prayed and thank the place for the great memories. What a great video, Vera - agreeing with everything you've said, but it's taken me years to really 'get it'. A single book on my bedside table didn't talk, it *shouted*, and it said, I was stupid for not reading it (I tried, but it was too dense and esesoteric, and the ideas were way too difficult to understand for whatever reason). I let it berate me like that for WEEKS or maybe it was MONTHS before I returned it to the friend who said I should read it. Never again 😅 I won't let ego do that to me ever again! I'm not a minimalist but I'm trying to declutter some of my stuff to a 50%. Some things like books or clothing will not arrive to the 50% but I feel I need a change in my life and getting rid of some things will help to start that change. I'm thrilled to see your new home.

I moved homes a few years ago and my son, who is living separately from me now, as he is a young adult, was very sad when we left his " childhood" home, but I felt very happy with my downsizing decision. And I still am to this date. And trust me, your new home will be very happy to have you both there. Plus you never know, maybe you will be more than 2 in the foreseeable future. Just hilarious what you said about the robot vac nightmare. Lol. Silent to do list was huge for me. For some reason I just kept putting off putting a liner bag in my tiny bath trash bin. Finally did it. 😂😂 Makes no sense logically as it’s like a one minute task, but there I was putting it off for days. Lol. I am currently updating my bra and swimsuit game. Seeking out comfy ones and ditching the “stifling” ones. Lol. Finally discovered that I prefer a sporty gym wear look as opposed to traditional bathing suits. Who knew? Lol. It’s just way more comfortable Bcuz I can be more comfortable and also cover up more which I also feel more comfy with. (It’s more like a loose tank top and short shorts and a workout bra top that isn’t too tight...except it’s the super light material that is quick to dry when it gets wet lol). I feel so happy about making these changes and I’m also returning a couple of them for one size bigger. I’m not that large in the breast area or overall, but truly I’m wide around so I’m loving wearing XXL or even XXXL sports bras Bcuz they are so much more comfy. The funny part is me at the store arguing with myself about buying XXXL items Bcuz that’s not technically “my size.” Ha ha. Had to finally jump out of the box that was telling me I had to always conform to a certain size. Like a size large shirt fits me fine (nice and slightly loose), but for a bra, not so much. And traditional bras are out for me Bcuz if I get super wide, the cup is waaayy too big. I don’t exercise so much really but even so I find myself drawn to a more “sporty” style. Lol. I love wearing clothes that let me move around a lot with ease tho. Clothes that “move” with me and esp undergarments.

Hey Vera, I really can understand your emotions. It is not easy to leave a place where you have lived longer time. 😐 Even if the new home is great. I also moved recently and left a flat where I had been living for 15 years and by doing that also leaving the small village where I had been living for 30 years.... It was hard and I cried a lot, although I did the right thing. Take your time to say goodbye and to think about all the things of the last 10 years, when you lived there. Moving can be bittersweet. Although it’s usually to improve your quality of life either by buying your first home or moving into a bigger home it’s also hard to leave a place that has given you so many memories. We have been in our current home for 22 years since our son was little so it holds many memories. We have also bought a home to retire to but have yet to make the move. I am ready to downsize and have less to look after but it comes with the cost of leaving our beautiful home where we have raised our son. I know when I move it will be very emotional.😢 Good luck on the move and I will look forward to seeing your new home.❤️🙏

Thanks for all of your thoughtful videos, Vera❤ I finally did a HUGE decluttering of my wardrobe and also of household items stored in my cupboards and pantry. It took about 3 trips to Goodwill with a loaded up SUV 😂 it was so worth it, thank you for your encouragement. You’re so correct when you say a home is not a place to store stuff! I thought bc I have plenty of storage space that it’s ok to to save everything “ just in case” 🎉

Funny isn’t it. I use certain things I own to talk to me so I remember to use them of do a job I often forget. For example I put my cats nail clippers in a spot that they remind me I have to cut my cats claws but have never thought about them talking to me in a negative way. Love this idea and the garbage one. Definitely going to use these two thoughts to help me stay more minimal. Thanks Vera.
When I decluttered 70% of my junk and stopped buying, I started using my things.

I feel you Vera. We left our 10 years rented apartment since we bought our new home 3 years ago and that made me emotional too. We have too much memories with my late mom, kids and extended family in that apartment. The night before we left I prayed and thank the place for the great memories. What a great video, Vera - agreeing with everything you've said, but it's taken me years to really 'get it'. A single book on my bedside table didn't talk, it *shouted*, and it said, I was stupid for not reading it (I tried, but it was too dense and esesoteric, and the ideas were way too difficult to understand for whatever reason). I let it berate me like that for WEEKS or maybe it was MONTHS before I returned it to the friend who said I should read it. Never again 😅 I won't let ego do that to me ever again!

I'm not a minimalist but I'm trying to declutter some of my stuff to a 50%. Some things like books or clothing will not arrive to the 50% but I feel I need a change in my life and getting rid of some things will help to start that change.

I moved homes a few years ago and my son, who is living separately from me now, as he is a young adult, was very sad when we left his " childhood" home, but I felt very happy with my downsizing decision. And I still am to this date. And trust me, your new home will be very happy to have you both there. Plus you never know, maybe you will be more than 2 in the foreseeable future. Best thoughts from me, love Lily.
Just hilarious what you said about the robot vac nightmare. Lol. Silent to do list was huge for me. For some reason I just kept putting off putting a liner bag in my tiny bath trash bin. Finally did it. 😂😂 Makes no sense logically as it’s like a one minute task, but there I was putting it off for days. Lol.
I am currently updating my bra and swimsuit game. Seeking out comfy ones and ditching the “stifling” ones. Lol. Finally discovered that I prefer a sporty gym wear look as opposed to traditional bathing suits. Who knew? Lol. It’s just way more comfortable Bcuz I can be more comfortable and also cover up more which I also feel more comfy with. (It’s more like a loose tank top and short shorts and a workout bra top that isn’t too tight...except it’s the super light material that is quick to dry when it gets wet lol). I feel so happy about making these changes and I’m also returning a couple of them for one size bigger. I’m not that large in the breast area or overall, but truly I’m wide around so I’m loving wearing XXL or even XXXL sports bras Bcuz they are so much more comfy. The funny part is me at the store arguing with myself about buying XXXL items Bcuz that’s not technically “my size.” Ha ha. Had to finally jump out of the box that was telling me I had to always conform to a certain size. Like a size large shirt fits me fine (nice and slightly loose), but for a bra, not so much. And traditional bras are out for me Bcuz if I get super wide, the cup is waaayy too big. I don’t exercise so much really but even so I find myself drawn to a more “sporty” style. Lol. I love wearing clothes that let me move around a lot with ease tho. Clothes that “move” with me and esp undergarments.

Hey Vera, I really can understand your emotions. It is not easy to leave a place where you have lived longer time. 😐 Even if the new home is great. I also moved recently and left a flat where I had been living for 15 years and by doing that also leaving the small village where I had been living for 30 years.... It was hard and I cried a lot, although I did the right thing.
Take your time to say goodbye and to think about all the things of the last 10 years, when you lived there. Say goodbye in your own special way. I wish you all the best for your move and the new home. God bless🌷😃👍
