Am I really THAT shallow?
This is an absolutely stunning purple ukulele which I almost bought when they first appeared about 18 months ago. I explain why I didn't buy it back then and why I am very glad that I have bought it now.

You are not shallow. That Lanikai is gorgeous! Looks and sounds great. And I'm still loving Fly Me to the Moon.

I'm glad I waited but I am VERY glad to have got it now though, so nice.
£250 is about AU$463 which is about average price for a good Lanikai uke here in Brisbane. I own a Lanikai MA-8T double-course tenor (8-string with low G and high C, so gGcCEEAA, mahogany) and a Lanikai MA-T the standard tenor version of the 8-string. I'm aiming for both the MT-6A and MT-5A, the 6-string and 5-string mahogany tenors respectively. I love the warm tones of Lanikai. These average around Au$379 or £205.
A (non-purple) Lanikai quilted maple concert costs AU$579 about £313. You can tell I like my Lanikai!
By the way my wife saw your Purple Lanikai and said "Nope, she's not shallow. I'd take up ukulele just to buy that uke; it's gorgeous!". Jeanette is a purple (and emeralds) freak too.
How lovely to read Tobias. Firstly please tell Jeanette it is DEFINITELY worth learning the uke just for that purple and very glad to hear you are a Lanikai fan too. Vicky in school with me had a lovely Lanikai so it was actually the first "nice" ukulele I ever tried. Still beaming with this one though.
I got the green one a few weeks ago.. lovely to look at. It’s my first concert size. The Fishman pickup works a treat, but acoustically it’s got a soft (muted) voice. I swapped in some fluorocarbon strings which did help boost its soft voice. Overall love this Uku and I’ve not played my tenor since I got it. Oh, and the slightly wider fingerboard is subtle but nice.
Glad you like yours too Kerry. Yes, agree about the softer sound, will definitely try swapping strings at some point but will normally be amped up unless I'm just strumming at home. Yes, the wider nut is great.

Thanks. That is an excellent question and one which I've been trying to work out. I keep getting to about 20, 21, 22 the getting distracted! I will have to get them all together at some point for a roll call!

Sorry Rachel, but you haven't convinced me with this one. 250 quid just for looks really goes as a cross in the box for me. And at that price expensive for a laminate. It doesn't give punch when played even if when it's got the amp on. I'll pass. Thanks for the review though.
Totally get it David. TBH the sound isn't actually that bad, just quite a quite uke but totally respect your opinion. I just a have a very big thing for purple ukes. ;-)
