    A) absolutely awesome to hear honest thoughts on your shoot.
    B) key learning - failing to prepare is preparing to fail.
Sounds basic but it’s so important to learn.

I watched the CAM podcast featuring Kyle Douglas and listened to him talk about shooting 300’s in practice, but knowing that they or his shooting would note stand up to the pressure of doing it when it matters under the pressure of big tournaments!! That really drove the point home for me!!!

Just have fun is the important thing. Once it becomes a chore you will resent it.. if your thing is helping people and selling gear and testing equipment and making videos, do that you enjoy it and it comes naturally. It doesn't seem like a chore. Once you add in competitive shooting, on top of all what you do now, it will become a chore

As a shop owner myself, with a 2nd job outside of it, I also know the struggle of trying to get ready for an event like this. I did not even have my bow fully set up until Monday the week of the Vegas Shoot. My first round on Friday was the first time that I have even shot at 20 yards this year, and the first game that I've shot in like 6 years. I had no expectations of what I was going to shoot, and I can say that is was the first time that I have ever gone and shot the Vegas Shoot just to have fun.
I was able to finally got to meet Josh on Sunday, and I want to thank him for putting his bow down, so that he could actually shake my hand, and also taking a couple of minutes to chat with me.

Josh how you shoot does not impact what we think about what you do. What you and Tim do is so much bigger right now - you are growing the sport and TEACHING people. I’ve followed archery for years - i find y’all’s content in December, and I’m registering for my first archery competition and learning how to work on my own stuff all the sudden - that is what you do, you both are changing things for people! Yea we want you to perform well and we know you can. But personally to your fans (us, your following) it’s not important what you do it’s important *how* you do it. Your style and content is a product of who you are and that is genuine, transparent observation and actions. That’s who you are, and that really means something! That is why. And Yall are doing all the right things that make a difference, keep going!

MFJJ, shot my first Lancaster Archery Classic this year and it was a blast!! Definitely going back, and hopefully every year from now on!! One of my highlights was meeting the guys from BHOD and brought them down some family made maple syrup from 🇨🇦!! Next up on the bucket list is a TAC event! Maybe you could come to one of the ones on the east coast (VT or Pa.) Would live to meet you and the Podium gang there!! And yes, I’ll bring you some fresh 🇨🇦 maple syrup!! 😜
I took the Shot IQ online course, and like Joel says “ Thoughts aren’t thinking!!” I think as able to talk my way through most of my shots at Lancaster and although I didn’t shoot my best, I walked away happy with how things went and determined to improve in the future using the Shot IQ training!!
And Hank Haney was Tiger Woods coach, be he will never be will never hit the ball to that level! You don’t need to be able to do it yourself to KNOW how to do it!! Right Tim Connor!!! 😜🤣😜

Tim - Reverse the mic arm. The arm wants to fall counter clockwise, which makes the knob want to turn counter clockwise and loosen. So take the handle off the arm, or the mic end off, pull it out and stick in the opposite side of the connection. That way when the arm is under its own weight of the mic it tightens the knob naturally. Old production trick.

I can confidently say what you shoot does not affect your credibility. In golf, 99% of the best golfers in the world have a golf coach and not one of those coaches can beat their client. You wouldn't have the knowledge you have if you spent 4 hours a day shooting. Alot of pro golfers don't even know why they're using the clubs they are other than somebody but it in their hands and it worked.

    • @DoubleMiddleOutdoors

No loss in credibility at all. There are many phenomenal shooters who have major off weekends at these big shoots. There are also many who can outshoot 99.99% of people on earth that find that indoor is just not for them. Its a tough mental challenge and it takes a lot of courage to have a bad go at a tournament and come back and discuss it for all the world to see.

I've spent a ton of money on archery since I began watching you on You Tube and recently Instagram, most of which was spent at Podium Archery. I've been well pleased with all of my gear thus far. I'm very rural so I choose to purchase an Original EZ press and a LC draw board. The Baker ball vice with micro adjust is awesome. I like to do my own tuning and install my own accessories. I'm 35-40 miles to the closest archery shop so it just made sense to me.

The more I hear about the aspects archery, the more relatable it is to the louder shooting sports. Easy to draw parallels of indoor 20 yard vs 3D and traditional Bullseye Pistol (now call precision pistol by the NRA) vs USPSA/IDPA. Your old school types on competition is a direct test of your fundamentals whereas you can get away with a little more on the other side in the "practical" competitions, be it vital zone on a 3D, or A zone on a USPSA target. Fundamentals are the same, but traditional competition shooters have an easier time transitioning to the practical side because of the solid base of fundamentals of shooting. The same goes for interest as well, there's more of an interest in the practical side, because it looks more fun... period... Think about the level of ball busting that goes on during a 3-D course over an indoor tournament...
How Josh described Vegas, is exactly how last year (my first year) at the National Matches at Camp Perry went for pistol. Shot respectable scores at home, during local matches and leagues just to dump it at the big one... I chalked it up as being a big fish in a small pond at home, vs little fish in a big pond just that simple and you get into your own head to the point that you forget the whole reason you are there at the time, to have fun. But still not regretting going, and promising yourself to overcome next year. Honestly, Tim's road to 300 video is inspiring, and honestly more entertaining and educational to watch and join in on the journey, to learn with him, to improve together, to take yourself just seriously enough, but not too much... It's a fine line, but worthy to walk. These are the things that the shootings sports needs to grow, to bring new people in. Watching pros shooting near perfect is cool and entertaining, but also brings intimidation to new shooters who might find themselves "not good enough, so why bother". A series of personal growth and improvement would inspire those to dip their feet in...
Either way, Liked and now subscribed to you guys!

It looks like someone has already commented about the video that Paige Pearce has put out on why there are so many changes for the Vegas Shoot next year. She does mention about the outgrowing the venue, but that is not all there is to it. Yes, we are close to having outgrown the venue, but the size is not completely there yet. The inside scoop that she did not mention, because it is talking negative about someone, is that the OWNER of South Point DID NOT want to renew contracts. According to the owner the casino just is not making enough money during the Vegas Shoot. The hotel might be sold out, but the casino itself does not make anywhere near the kind of money that it does when there are other sold out events are held there.

You guys should try to make it out to the Archeryworld classic. It’s held in Lacey Washington. This year will be at fourth year and it’s been growing every year since it started. Joe and Megan the owners of Archeryworld have really been working their tails off along with all of their archer world crew to really grow that shoot up to try and be the Pacific Northwest version of the Lancaster classic. The amount of shooters and the ability of the shooters that do compete is growing every year. It’s gonna be a premier shoot in the future.

Which is what he did this year. Average archers like me wish I could shoot a 290 just once lol ! Thanks Tim for ditching the orange cap ! lol.

For me personally I like hearing when credible guys experience the same thing regular guys experience. As a learner, customer/consumer one thing that messes with me the most is when “The shooters” make you feel like you have some unique problem that only you are experiencing. This makes you feel like there is no solution to your problem and you are in some way defective. When a credible archer like yourself has an issue like this, the thing guys like me really want to know is , what was your solution? How did you resolve it?
That’s why we’re here brother. Guys that are struggling are the guys searching for info on RUclips. Credibility isn’t being perfect. Your credibility comes from your honesty.

It's supposed to be fun and the day it stops being fun and becomes a must do activity like it's a job then why bother doing it bro. I honestly don't give a rats ass what your score is perfect or not it won't change my opinion of you . RELAX BRO ! When I compete I treat it just like I'm shooting in my backyard with my friends , it's no big deal because the instant I think okay I gotta make this shot 😮😢 I miss and may as well go home because I just ruined my whole day . And that's why in 35 years of shooting archery I've never shot a 300 . I always finish one arrow short . Remember archery is fun ! That's why we're all here 🏹🎯🤘

Paper is a bitch if you dont do it consistently...and even then its still a bitch. I would say that lrobably 99% of your viewers are hunters only, and if they would all give target archery a fair shake, they would all improve, hands down.
Your score has nothing to do with your knowledge.

    • @Matt-jl8xf
      @Matt-jl8xf 6 месяцев назад +1

Well said. My biggest gains have always come when I dedicate to 150-200+ arrows per day for a while. Some hunters probably don't shoot that many arrows in a year. But, if you want to become a better overall archer, competitive target archery is the best thing you can do for yourself. You will be humbled at first, and then you put your head down and get to work!
