To put this into context, the 85 billion dollars of military equipment left behind in Afghanistan is bigger than the entire yearly military budget of Russia.

Remember, a typical Taliban fighter in Afghanistan, like a typical Viet Cong guerrilla fighter in Vietnam during the Indochina war, carries less than $50 worth of arms & ammunition.
Western Occupation in Afghanistan is all about "Rare Earth Minerals", while Vietnam was all about "Rubber" that nation produced about three quarters of world's supply in those days. 🤔

@@eskand5 The full truth may never be known but it usually a blend of interests from each sides.
      Two things are for sure:
      1) Self interest of individuals in key places. Usually motivated by a reward system, usually money.

      But 2 things is sure:
      1) This is not normal actions of any retreating army and definitely not of American military.
      2) This loss of equipment is unprecedented in any REAL conflict.
3)Bidens attitude and reaction is not of a patriot.

We don't know all the motivations behind the actions nor do we need to.

Good answer! I think it’s Biden and his cronies who’re seeking to profit off of war. Isn’t it interesting that the Biden Administration left military equipment worth billions of dollars to our enemies? No one can make sense of this profound idiocy.....but, I can. When essential military equipment is lost.....a government has to spend billions for new equipment...correct? And guess who’s very good friends with the number one maker of military weaponry? Yes, a friend of Joe Biden’s....and his defense secretary. Now it all makes sense. Money over American lives.
      Read this article.
‘The decision by Mr. Biden to nominate General Austin has drawn a new wave of questions about the corporate ties of people Mr. Biden is choosing for his administration.’
‘Even members of Mr. Biden’s own party had urged Mr. Biden to stay away from nominating anyone for the defense secretary’s job who came directly from the world of military contractors’
‘Raytheon now ranks as one of the largest military contractors in the world, with Raytheon boasting in an earnings report to Wall Street that it has a record backlog of pending orders from the federal government totaling $73 billion.’

These equipment can be repaired and used but the ability to maintain and create a fighting force is obviously something the Afghanistan government/ military didn't do well base on their failures to protect themselves from Talibans. We supported them and they failed. Ukraine is being supported and the are putting up a good fight. The Afghanistan people being controlled by Talibans is what they wanted and have no loyalty to themselves & family. The equipment is probably being sold on the black market. We left equipment in WWII, Korea, Vietnam it's no lost. As a Veteran that was in Afghanistan in 1980 supporting Talibans against Russia we give them stingers and military equipment. Don't loose sleep over this. Iran still have a few F14 and older equipment when we had a base in Iran. 😅

We left it for two reasons 1)for the ANA to use, part of our 10 year effort to try and get the Afghan Army formed up and 2)the cost to ship it home was far greater than the cost to buy a brand new one.
The ANA were never able to operate above the battalion level, a disastrous condition for a nation that is really just a coalition of provinces with a poor system of roads. We tried to build a road network, we could not keep it open fully.

I'm more concerned for the lower-enlisted who were told to leave entire rucksacks full of equipment behind in Afghanistan. Some are still feeling that bill even to this day!

The U.S isn’t dumb, they are building a ton of new military tech and they need an established military w/ armor and bases to possibly test this new stuff on
