I’ll echo the sentiment , going through this game slowly is the way to go. There will be people who hate this though, who’ll only want you to do the main missions…. You can do that, but you’ll miss like a whole lot, like more than half the game, maybe even more than that is in all the side stuff you can find. There’s a place for instance, you can experience something there, and it gives you a hint of another place to go, you have to wait until late into the night in game time to get the pay off… if someone is rushing around, they’ll miss it. That said, I don’t think it’s possible to catch everything in one play through. There’s still things we are still finding out about that are in the game 6 years after the game being released, there’s just so much to find!

So yeah, like the Strange Man said in RDR 1 and Javier says here in RDR 2, John was shot during the ferry heist (he was shot in the arm, if you look closely he has a bandage on it) and since we know from a newspaper article from RDR 1 that Landon Ricketts was somehow involved in the Blackwater Massacre my headcanon is that he decided to get involved in stopping the robbery (either to help the law or as self-defense) and shot at Dutch's gang, shooting John in the arm during the chaos as a result. 12 years later, John and Ricketts meet in Mexico again without either of them knowing they crossed paths before.

I've played this game 17 times to 100% completion. All I've done since Oct. 18, 2018 is play this game or watch others play. You will get a lot of things telling you you are doing this or that wrong or you missed this or that. EVERY time I play or watch I find something new. My advice would be to just play your way the first time. If you choose to play again than you could listen to other ways of doing and finding things. I hope you enjoy this (interactive movie) as much as I do!

Your playthrough will be so pleasant to follow! Already your introduction, where you talked about taking it slow and getting immersed, made me happy. Yes, this is definitely the best way to enjoy this game! Talk to everybody, often. Walk, ride, take in the world! Let the game's slow pace be a blessing. The only thing you really _don't_ need to care about is the mission checklists (bronze/silver/gold awards) - those are meant more for achievement hunters or possibly for a second playthrough. Otherwise they're totally unimportant, and occasionally even distract from the full experience (rewarding quick completion time, which is contrary to full immersion).

Thank you for easing my mind about the achievements! I guess it brings an added layer of newness when replaying the game (as if this game even needed that lol) so I won't worry about the awards this playthrough. Thank you for watching :)

RDR2 is one of the most well written games ever with insane level of voice acting and Arthur Morgan is one of the GOATS
9:15 This is what the stranger man was talking about when he first met John in RDR1, The Blackwater massacre is one of the most crucial moments in RDR universe but its story is vaguely told

    • @b.u.l.1734
      @b.u.l.1734 4 месяца назад +8

Yeah, one of my favorite aspects of both RDR games is the fact that we never see what happened at the ferry, the so called 'Blackwater Massacre' of 1899.
We only get snippets of what happened and that makes it much more meaninful and mysterious.

One of the best things about this game is the attention to detail. For example, the horse's testicles shrink in cold weather. You can actually notice it😅. Also, characters you interact with will remember you throughout the game and what you did to them.
There's a lot of foreshadowing in the dialogue that you wouldn't know if you played this first. When this first came out, all the fans of the first game were so hyped. They never expected there to be a sequel. They did a great job.

2:25:54 I have to agree with Dutch here. 'Usury' is another term for loan-sharking, so robbing a bank seems more morally correct in comparison, than threatening destitute people to borrow money off of you then get violent if they don't pay it back.

Just a tip for the game, whenever you see places with white surrounding it with a ? mark, those are stranger missions you can do as Arthur, some don't unlock until later chapters, and doing them can be both fun and rewarding. A lot of people don't bother and just go through the game quickly, take your time with the game. The stranger missions are worth doing in this game.

Friendly tip you can often get in on the conversations that gang members are having with each other if you just stand near them instead of listening from afar. And more than likely you can press greet on each participant in the conversation to say something afterwards that’s relevant to it or unique for that conversation alone. On rare occasions it will be the antagonize button. Not only that but after each and every mission there will be unique dialogue you can trigger with various camp members regarding recent events. Try your hardest not to miss dialogue from Arthur as they spent a lot of time recording so so much and I missed way more than I heard on my first playthrough

Explore everything, always reading journal, talk to the camp members, interact with everything in camp or open world, reading everything including newspapers, doing random events, listening to dialogues, side quests, watching theatre shows/movies, .etc. rockstar games do far better job in immersing you into atmosphere and excel at their attention to details than many other open world games and developers. @@kaliwali If you hold down the middle touch pad on the PS5, you'll activate the cinematic view. This is like cruise-control for your horse. If you set a waypoint on the map, your horse will follow the path automatically and you can even put your controller down. You can also adjust the speed of the horse in cinematic view.
This can also be useful when riding with others during missions to allow you to soak in the dialogue and surroundings.

I just love how much of a shithead John is throughout a significant part of this game, specially to Abigail and Jack (keep an eye out for John's camp interactions), it makes his redemption arc in RDR 1 so much more poignant.
Also, Uncle is legit one of the most underrated characters, he probably has the funniest camp conversations in this game, lol.

    Howdy Kali 🫡!
    OMG! We’re finally here 🤧!
5:08 Yes, noticed you’ve got Speaker Subtitles on, Lesssgooo 👊🏽!
5:32 Enter the GOAT, Arthur Morgan 🤠🫡!
12:38 Yeah, optional dialogue means you can experience the same scene differently and later on, your honour level also changes how Arthur talks and how people react to him as well in some parts.
13:40 Love how your face lit up when John’s name was mentioned, awww haha.
28:28 Read that Rockstar Devs added Horse Bonding mechanic to reward them for being loyal to their horses rather than swapping/biying/selling them like cars in GTA.
37:53 Yeah, Strange Man mentioned Heidi McCourt, she was young lady mentioned in RDR1 that Dutch marked.
44:58 RDR1 theme, LFG! Also listen out for RDR1 musical cues throughout the game, some maybe subtle like this, others not so much haha.
47:58 Loved they improved the Aiming from RDR1 where Red Dot shows a Hit on Target and a Red ❌ means Target Dead.
49:11 Yeah, not sure if you know the story of the Prodigal Son from the Bible, Arthur is basically Older Brother and there’s way more Biblical/Christian themes in this game especially with the Mission names.
51:17 There’s an earlier chapter of the Journal precedes entry you started with, shows when Arthur bought that Journal and some of the events before Chapter 1.
54:38 Goad you figured out lol, Hold LT for Convos haha, you can use that with any NPC!
56:25 Being an Australian, I feel disrespected 🤧, Jokesss haha. Molly is actually Irish.
58:39 Yeah, Bill lost a lot of weight when you see him in 1911, also you’re now seeing the visual upgrade and yeah, same Actors for Bill, Dutch & John. Uncle is a new guy due to OG actor passing away during making RDR2. Javier & Abigail are also new actors as well, not the same as RDR1.
1:14:44 Yeah, glad your ignore the NPCs when they’re trying to rush you, almost reminds me of God of War Ragnarok NPCs backseating Kratos/Atreus.
1:25:38 Problem is you only find out what Mission Objectives are, AFTER the mission lol.
1:24:09 Part of Dutch's philosophy that lends itself to the Robin Hood ideal or Noble Gang ethos he likes to preach: "We shoot fellas as need shooting, save fellas as need saving, and feed them as need feeding" and then add to last gang meeting where Dutch & especially Hosea mention to the gang, not to get into trouble cause they're on the run. Dutch does not like his gang to do anything reckless unless absolutely necessary or unless he himself directly says it so his gang is not as lawless and violent as the O'Driscolls for example like when you read about them in the com, pendium.
1:49:39 Uncle is a Vampire, he does not age lol
1:50:13 Drops of blood when skinning in RDR1 always makes me laugh.
2:15:00 That’s the GOTY 2018 award winning music/soundtrack. It’s a shame Bear McCreary didn’t win for God of War 2018 as I love that soundtrack too but RDR2 deserved it as well, The Valkyrie Theme is still one of my fave pieces of music ever but love the mission music in this game so much.
2:18:21 Agreed, Hosea definitely a Wise Fatherly Figure alright.
2:19:00 So glad you instinctively slowed down the wagon, there’s loads of great dialogue that can be missed if Arthur rides/drives/walks too quickly.
At Horseshoe Overlook camp, Walking to edge of the cliff and sitting down to watch the night sky is one of my fave things to do in the game, also riding at night is great as well.
2:30:50 Love that Mountain Hymn midi instrumental you played, that’s what I mean Woody Jackson who also did RDR1 soundtrack elevated his composing game 💪🏽.
2:32:39 Micah pointing the gun at Arthur and you pausing the music = Priceless, was waiting for a record scrafch noise but pausing it, freakn genius lol.
2:33:23 Yes please, my fave thing to do was spend as much time at camp chatting to each of the NPCs. Every camp interaction whether you’re eavesdropping, at the campfire, at the NPCs tents or them coming up to you is sooo good & even gives you deeper insight into each character and also their dynamics with others. You’ll hardly ever hear the same conversations again. Read somewhere, there’s 500,000 lines of dialogue recorded combined, Roger Clark had about 50000 lines of Dialogue for Arthur.
There's a Easter Egg at camp that unless you're exploring Horseshoe Overlook fully you won't find, all I'll say is, look behind Arthurs Tent for what seems to be abandoned wagon and random wooden cargo boxes on a cliff side, there's something there that I feel you'll find interesting especially about Dutch that he's left behind.
One last tip is that aside from tracking Animals when hunting or even tracking people, you can also use Eagle Eye (LS + RS) for when you're trying find lootable items either indoors or outdoors like in the wild, they will glow and flash on/off.
Thanks so much again for an amazing first RDR2 episode, can’t wait for the next, well with me staying to almost 4am Thursday morning haha, “Okay then, Catch ya later 😁” Much Love & Blessings 🙏🏽.

    • @kaliwali
      @kaliwali  4 месяца назад +1

I noticed that mission objectives are always AFTER the mission which really sucks lol. And skinning in this game is definitely not like RDR1 hahaha. It's soooo much more graphic!
Micah is a certified loon haha. It worries me that Dutch obviously has a special place in his brain for him to weasel into. After reading the initial chapters in Arthur's journal that I missed this episode (don't worry, I found them in the second one thank goodness!) it seems even more likely that Micah could be the rotten egg of this camp slowly turning everything he touches to coal.
I'm planning to head out to the PO box tomorrow so look out on Sunday's episode for more unboxing of the amazing t-shirts you got me!!
Thank you you for the laughs, tips and commentary on this episode! I reaaaally enjoyed reading your thoughts and I'll see you in the next one! 💚
