Hey thanks a lot for your kind words! They're much appreciated! Truth is I dig and I deeply respect surf music so I've put a lot of time practicing the genre; needless to say that spring reverb is the only essential guitar effect to me..cheers!
@@KostasMkostasm I’ve got a fender hot rod deluxe, and a surf green American strat pro 2. The only thing I really still need for my surf setup is that awesome Surfy bear reverb pedal! Do recommend the one you were using?
@@justaburgscousin Yes I totally recommend this because you can get a big range of reverb, from mild bluesy spring reverb to lush drippy one, ideal for surf rock madness
I came on RUclips hoping to find a song that was stuck in my head and I couldn't remember the name (Walk Don't Run) and I found this delightful video. I enjoyed this thoroughly. 😊

In european surf analog slapback analog delay is used instead of or in conjunction with spring reverb (the slapback delay is dominant in european surf (Shadows, Rautalanka etc), the spring reverb in american surf). Cheers, top job.
No matter how you call it; American or European surf music, spaghetti western inspired music or what effects did they use in any of these cases, to me it's all lovely twangy shit, which makes them one and the same! Thanks for your kind words
@@KostasMkostasm I basically used this video as inspiration to learn surf guitar, it’s been about a year and a half and I’ve learned a lot, and bought better gear. If seems no RUclipsrs that do typical tutorials specialize in surf music, so I still struggle to get the clarity when adding the proper amount of reverb. I use the surfy bear as well, but I’ve never tried a compressor pedal with my setup. Idk how knowledgeable you are to surf, but what is your surf pedal consist of?
Thanks. Actually it's a classic series 60's lacquer but I've changed the stock mint green pickguard with this tort, I guess it's the main reason you got confused with the model.
Kostas 1st let me say Great Video!! Also, what do you think the best Jazzmaster pickups are for playing classic instrumental surf guitar music such as The Bel-Airs, Eddie Bertrand and the Showmen, The Surfaris, The Ventures, The Astronauts, etcetera.
Thanks Matt for your kind words! Any pickup uncompressed and with open sound will do the job - avoid soapbar-looking P90s, they sound a bit muddy. I use the stock fender pure vintage 65s and I'm more than happy with the result. Peace
@@KostasMkostasm Thank you for your advice. I own a Squier Classic Vibe '60s Jazzmaster in Surf Green with tortoise shell pickguard which looks almost identical to the one you're playing. The only modification I did was replace the stock bridge with a Staytrem. I compared this guitar to a Squier J-Mascis Jazzmaster through a '65 Princeton Reverb amp and while the J-Mascis didn't sound bad when it comes to Classic Instrumental Surf Rock the Classic Vibe '60s Jazzmaster sounded spot on and is perfect for someone wanting to play this type of music who's on a budget.

Killer technique dude, leaves most of the surf demos I've seen on youtube for dead (and I've seen a lot, been playing surf for 20+ years)

So many titles I had forgot. Thank you very much
Nice Reverb tank sound
Surf on, dude. Great compilation. Love your tone and playing.

EXCELLENT!! Sound is perfectly Surf Period, as are the licks. Gnarly Dude!
Unbelievably amazing!
Outstanding, thank you! ❤Mary
I must say, That verb is on point
Wonderful, thank you.
Thanks!!
Great job! (Trust me... you're going to want more reverb... 🤣)
Satisfying drip to say the least!
Stellar playing

So cool! Greetings from Georgia!
Well put! Thanks for sharing that for the joy of us all, offsets lovers!
Awesome reverb!
Thanks I needed that. Youre awesome
Nice sampler, well done.
how does one achieve such a sound
Fender amps and reverb pedals
It’s all about the reverb. Drench any guitar with a wammy bar with reverb and your good to go.
I feel like surf rock is just lots of reverb, whammy bar, and a mix between blues and Spanish sounding stuff
@@TheLuke... pretty much
Not to mention putting reverb before any overdrive or distortion
drippy af
You are pinching my playlist. Love to have a jam with you.

Killer! I have to learn some of these now! inspirational
Messer Chups sound! ^^
Jazzmaster + surfy bear =❤️
Totally!
Very cool!
Outta sight !!!
this is sick
sounds like Pulp Fiction 😊
Awesome bruh!!!❤❤❤❤
Hey guy, if you try these with distortion it sounds like punk or grunge
Vintera Jazzmaster? Whatever it is, sounds lovely.

Sounds like Santa Cruz ❤
Awesome! One question: at 2:31 is this the song jack Marshall or the song „the munsters“?
Thanks! At 2:17 is the song "The Munsters", composed by Jack Marshall.
That song was the music theme for the tv series with the same name.
Surfy staff
Cant forget surf nicaragua....
That was cool
Cool!
Thanks dude!
Surf beat
Great! Mike Portnoy has no limits!
More surf Bro
Surf up ..
Surfs up deeeewd
Needs more reverb
More is more, but for some reason reverb is never enough. I would like to record this again in a tunnel or something.
Rad
Need more bass. I'm not in the room though. Maybe it's just sound perfect. Maybe I just dislike the jazzmaster sound.
this'll make your ears bleed gravy!
Little too heavy on the reverb. Drowns out your technique.
Waaaay too fast!
Too much reverb
They say too much reverb is exactly the right amount for Surf guitar !
I dig it😎
