This takes me back to the old spaghetti western soundtracks. Was it surf ? Western? Jazz? Folk? Interesting interpretations are hard to categorize. lol
Oh dude! This is the kind of music I dream of making with my Jazzmaster! Maybe some day I'll get there. Thanks for the inspiration. Great mix of genres. :) Any tips on theory, signal chain, etc.?
G'day Jason thanks for having a listen & your kind words. My signal chain for this recording was fairly simple just the Jazzmaster into a Fender Princeton Reverb: volume 8, bass 6, treble 4, reverb 6 and tremolo settings were both on 10 with a Shure SM57 directly infront. I would say theory wise: is to develop a strong sense of melody as the idea is to replace the singers voice with that of your guitars. Watch some old Westerns or listen to James Calvin Wilseys(Chris Isaaks first guitarist: the one responsible for wicked game) solo album for inspiration/ideas... most importantly have fun while doing it! Thanks again!
Im almost there! Jazzmaster- check Princeton Reverb - check Talent - needs work Haha. Thanks for all the tips. All super helpful. I’ll check that guitar player out too. Wicked Game has some great guitar playing on it. Cheers man and thanks for the inspiration and advice.
Hi John this is truly awesome - Do you offer the tab / chords for this arrangement to buy and what setting have you got on your Twin Reverb to get that killer twang - Absolutely classic 🤩👍
this cover is amazing my friend! im gonna look at your channel searching for for a full versionof the sound or a tutorial for that guitar tone, sound amazing! Keep up the good work
Kreiger, the Doors ,Dick Dale and Reverb.... BRAVO !
Where has this been my whole life?!
The sun is setting and as we watch him carry his board back to the woody Surf Riders on the Storm is playing.
Surf is where it's at.
Whoa! What a great fusion of surf and Doors! If this isn’t a genre, it should be! Great work.
Listen to Take it as it Comes. Good Doors "surf" song. Great organ solos.
I believe there's such a thing as "Surf Rock,".
You’ve never heard of the The Ventures 🤨
“Dorf”
I literally enjoy this more than the original
I love it when people take things seemingly out of context and make it work and, brother, do you make it work!
Wthhhhh Hahahah awesome!
Excellent. This captures the mood of the original song but with a surf feel. It would fit perfectly into any surf rock set.
'waiting for the sun' might be cool surfed up too!
This beautifully done track proves, that the best rock
vocal covers are often
instrumentals. Thanks,
John, for sharing this.
What a great take on an absolute classic. I'm surprised Tarantino hasn't come knocking yet mate!
Cool! Sounds to me like something Quentin Tarantino would use in one of his movies.

Just found this video. Great work. Any chance there's tabs for it somewhere?

It could also be sped up to sound like the song "Pipeline" by The Chantays!
Barely took two notes for me to hit the like button!
Thank you John
Is that the Squire CV ?
Surfers on the storm
