    I should have mentioned in the video that removing the fuel tank entirely isn't necessary to perform this check. For purposes of the video I removed it to facilitate better lighting, camera angle and to get the fuel line completely out of the picture. I also thought it was a good opportunity to show how to disconnect it for those who haven't done it before.

    Checked my 2020FX valves at 70 and then again at 105 hours. No change detected in measurements and within spec. Now I have 50 hours on my 2021FX and have not bothered to check them. Very happy with these 250FX bikes.

      Hi guys im am going to buy wr250 or 250fx 2020-2022,not sure but I have gotten question about engine lifetime
      How many hours you do on a piston on theses bikes ? Any problems with them ?
      I am choosing between excf 250 and wr but I think that the suspension of the wr is way much better than ktm.
      I will use this bike to cross country/ woods and enduro racing

    Good video. You don't have to remove the fuel tank. Just turn it around and it will sit on the battery/rear fender. I put a towel down so it does't slide.

      Thanks for watching! I'm aware removing the fuel tank isn't necessary. I should have mentioned that in the video as you're the 2nd person to comment that. I needed to remove it for the lighting and camera angle plus it allowed me to get the fuel line completely out of the picture. Keep in mind that the timing chain is usually the weak link on the 250Fs. They will jump time and drop a valve and go BOOM.

      Good point. Thanks for watching!

    • @vegasromaniac
      @vegasromaniac 3 года назад +7

      The timing chain on the yz is the best in class, with a screw tensioner that it never fails. You might want to change that statement to maybe KTM... That it's know to have a failing auto adjust tensioner that it's known to let the chain jump teeth...

    • @johnnyjohnson2942
      @johnnyjohnson2942 3 года назад +1

      @@vegasromaniac It's the weakest link, Likely no problem when ran at lower RPMs. But when raced at higher RPMs the chain needs to be checked and replaced per OEM spec.

    • @DirtBikingwithDonnie
      @DirtBikingwithDonnie  2 года назад +5

      I did it simply to make the video and to get baseline measurements for future checks. It’s something that many people are interested in and the video has done well on revenue, so it was well worth my time. Two of the valves needed shimming at 60 hours and I made another video of that process. Hopefully one of those will be helpful to you at some point. Thanks for watching and commenting.
