    Nice setup. I set my KTMs up the same way for the most part. I run bibs though. Those ODI grip ends should pop right out after you cut them with the razor. I've never had to drill them out. Really like those HCM mounts for the hand guards too. Unfortunately, I had to switch because I started running a Mako 360. We'll be heading to Alabama soon for the last NEPG enduro. Love that south east dirt / sand.

  • @joelleguina994
    @joelleguina994 6 месяцев назад

    Good afternoon, I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend
    So I’ve been so pumped up I’m getting a 23 YZ 250 FX I found one last month and bought one. I’m coming off two strokes for the last 15 years my last bike before my new 250 FX 2003 YZ race bike desert, racing GP.
    I figure you know, I’m gonna try for stroke for some of my races. Nice to have that nice roll in power tractable and of course the electric button broke my bike in yesterday. The clutch was gone by the 7 mile.
    Returned it to the dealer right after getting towed back the same day yesterday. Service manager comes out the first thing he says well heck there’s no play in the clutch aftermarket clutch. Love you put on there. I said of course there’s not. I try to adjust the cable thinking it got stretched however, I know there’s about a quarter inch or so a play on the clutch when you replace the OEM that’s what I have the same play on my 03 yz 250. so irritated with the service manager. Of course, he said I hope YAMAHA warranties since it’s an aftermarket clutch lever
    I’m not a certified mechanic, however I’m 57 years old and probably done more top ends than the service managers age . Curious to find out next week if they would be honest on when they break into the clutch housing assembly
    I’m really hoping to love this bike . My last three
    race bikes were an 04 300 KTM 08 200 KTM 03YZ 250. Thank you for your videos I know it takes time and you’re knowledge

    Hi Donnie, have you considered installing a 2021-23 YZ250F airbox ? It has a bigger volume with a better intake velocity stack . I installed one in my 2021 WR250F and it breathes much better and has more power . Its a cheap mod that works well , I have the Rekluse Radius CX auto clutch and a left hand rear brake master cylinder on the left side too. I have two levers ,one for the clutch over ride and one for the rear brake ! Its way better than a foot brake because you have such fine braking control . I've been running AT81s for 2 years, but recently rode a friend's bike (same model as mine) with the MX33 and I was blown away by the traction and braking feel in the wet, steep conditions we were riding that day. To me, the AT81 braking, side-hill/off-camber and turning traction are much better than the MX33. Also, (again, my opinion) the AT81 continues to perform well after the edges are worn and the MX33 falls off drastically after the first few hours.

    Donnie, I’m running a 22 250FX. Stock exhaust except a Fisch spark arrestor. Do you have any issues with a dB test at races and the stock exhaust being over? Love the channel.

      Sound checks are rare where I am. I’ve never had my yz250fx checked. I have a friend who has a Fisch spark arrestor on his yz250fx and it quiets his bike quite a bit. I’d be very surprised if you have any issues.

      @firffighter Год назад

      I also run the Radius CX on my YZ250FX and I use the lightest springs to allow the clutch to immediately engage as I do not like too much slipping, especially when needing immediate hook up. I also raised the idle and the bike should "shudder" or slightly creep in 1st gear at idle. Love the Rekluse, but do not like the stock settings.

    Did you have to bleed Magura Clutch after you replaced Slave Cylinder?

    • @DirtBikingwithDonnie
      @DirtBikingwithDonnie  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, of course. Anytime you disconnect the line you have to bleed it. I also bleed the system every time I bleed my brakes from a maintenance point of view.

    • @codename7832
      @codename7832 8 месяцев назад

      @DirtBikingwithDonnie thank you. Did you also have to to a lot of adjustment to Rekluse after installing Magura Clutch. I have Rekluse Radius CX on my 2021 and i am thinking of switching to Magura Clutch from OEM Yamaha cable clutch. I've noticed that after installing Rekluse Radius CX clutch pull got harder then with OEM clutch.

    • @DirtBikingwithDonnie
      @DirtBikingwithDonnie  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@codename7832 The Rekluse freeplay gain adjustments are independent from the hydraulic system adjustments. If you go with the Magura setup you can no longer use clutch cable tension to externally adjust your Rekluse. You have to use the internal adjustment method. Something to keep in mind. This is a complex setup so be prepared to fine tune to get it right.

    • @codename7832

    • @DirtBikingwithDonnie
      @DirtBikingwithDonnie  Год назад +1

      That’s a good question and I didn’t address it in the video. There are a couple of reasons. The main advantage of Tubliss (in my opinion) is being able to run lower pressure, and in the rear tire that helps with traction. That’s not true for the front in Harescramble/sprint enduro type riding, the front tire needs to hold its shape to handle well. Some hard enduro guys use tubliss and gummy tires on the front and it makes sense in that situation. Tubliss on the front is also more finicky to install due to the narrower rim and unless you balance the wheel, it creates a out of balance vibration at 3rd gear and up speeds (tubliss does this on the rear too but it's more noticeable on the front). The cons outweigh the pros for my specific situation.

    Do you notice a difference in the feel between an aluminum frame bike versus a KTM or Husky? I’ve never ridden one in tight woods.

    • @DirtBikingwithDonnie
      @DirtBikingwithDonnie  Год назад

      I'm not sure I'm good enough to tell which differences are frame feel. The bikes are extremely different to ride. For me the biggest thing I notice when getting back on a KTM or Husqvarna is the drastic difference in riding position. Yamahas are more compact with distance between the pegs, seat and handlebars.
