I'm so happy Jelisnki got voted out. For whatever reason I love Jess.
So, Q gets his way. But I wonder if part of that outcome is what Bahnu wants also. Because Q and Jess are voting for Jelinsky, and if Bahnu agrees, then Kenzie and Tiffany kinda have to go with it because Jelinsky obviously has no vote.

I loved Jess in her pre season interview, and I am still rooting for her. I think some of us can identify with her.
I just dig her personality. I would totally work with her in the game.

Just getting to the post game show, and god I was FEELING the pain of Jess. As someone with ADHD I have always thought that hypothetically if I was on survivor I would be the first boot bc of all the things that I saw Jess struggling with in today's episode. And oof it hurts to see it on screen and hearing the other players talk about how they "can't get a read on Jess". I've dealt with that same struggle in my daily life. It's painful, but I'm rooting for her to find her alliance.
She was talking about having brain fog and being scattered but everything she said seemed pretty clear to me.
@@jodynelson2055 honestly when I'm really feeling that way, it takes a while to string the words together into a coherent thought, as it feels so scattered but I am aware of it happening so I put in all that energy into making it make sense. Having to think very deliberately about what I'm going to say and preparing it, rather than speaking off the cuff. And if I'm sitting on that prewritten thought too long without verbalizing it I forget it. My guess is that is what was happening with Jess at tribal, as she says the whole "Sorry Jeff can you get back to me later" because she probably lost the thing she was going to say.
And when you feel like your fighting against your brain to make sense, that can kill any of your confidence. So she probably thinks she is coming off alot worse than she actually is.
I like Jess too and I might be assuming too much but if she's on ADHD meds the fact she's not sleeping at all could actually be dangerous. It's very different from Hannah's issues last season but it still seems kinda foreseeable in the same way. Dehydration, starvation and lack of sleep don't go well with some chronic meds like that.

@@cxzact9204 it's very likely she isn't medicated during the season, or doesn't take medication at all for it. A lot of adults with ADHD build their lifestyles in a way to accommodate their disorder rather than take medication (it is actually hell to get medicated and stay medicated for ADHD. Especially if you as the person with ADHD are managing all that yourself). But sleep is important for anyone, but for people with disorders like ADHD it can exaggerate certain symptoms.
Two odd casting choices: Jalinsky can't lie and Liz is allergic to everything - Love Soda (bringing Maryanne energy IMO), Tevin, Tiffany, and Kenzie - Frannie is a fantastic co-host!! Congrats on 5000 episodes RHAP!!
Yeah why did they cast Liz? If you’re allergic to the daily Survivor diet you shouldn’t pass. And if you can’t lie then just don’t tell the full truth
tbf liz seems fully aware of what she's in for so i don't see an issue with seeing someone like that and giving them a chance, especially when they seem like the level of good casting that liz is

I enjoyed the premiere! There’s lot of really interesting people already. I really like Jess so I was happy she stayed over Jelinsky. I worry for her though if that tribe loses another challenge soon.
When I saw the giant geckos I had the thought of “oh wow this feels more at home in a Big Brother challenge than a Survivor challenge”. The fact that they actually gave them bloodshot eyes really just shows me that Survivor is willing to take itself less seriously now and have some fun.

I'm a linguist and I'll way in on the "several" versus "seven" discussion. Contrary to popular belief, and as both of you point out, they're not etymologically related. "Several" traces back to a Latin word for "separate/distinct," while "seven," like most numbers, has sort of been passed down from older forms of "seven."
Did you just say you're a linguist and then used "way in" instead of "weigh in?"

I don't understand why they kept entrusting Jelinsky to do anything. He kept failing in whatever he did. It made no sense to keep him around, imo.
For some reason I laughed 3 / SEVERAL times 1. Jelinsky saying he’s safe and has good aliance members 2.him saying that that he won’t ever quit EXCEPT FOR THAT ONE TIME AND THAT OTHER TIME 3. him saying that him and Q never quit which Q doesn’t but jelinsky quits
love elsbeth!!! Looked like a mini series..so good. Also enjoyed the first episode of survivor so much. Thank you guys and I love the Andy Griffith show. And I love your whistling that was so cool thank you rob

Imo Jelinsky’s main flub was being so honest about the journey, he should’ve just told the truth aside from him giving up. He could’ve just said like “yeah we did this game and I had to lie to them but Maria saw right through it, that Tevin though wow he is very convincing”. It’s all in the framing, here he didn’t just quit the game but instead just drew the short end of the stick and also paints Maria and Tevin as people to look out for to his tribemates.
Yep. I think this was the play, immediately just tell what the game was, that you lost, but say "Im a shitty liar and Maria clocked me immediately". Worst case your entire tribe just thinks you are unable to lie to their faces
How is he a "superfan" and made so many dumb choices in the first few days?
Usually there is a "goodbye" or waving or the voted out contestant looking back, but this vote had none of that as if everyone expected this outcome & had nothing else to add to it. Although, I will agree with him on 1 thing based on what I was taught in elementary school: Single=1, Pair/Couple=2, Few/Handful=3 to 5, Several=6 to 11, Dozen=12, & Many=13 or more.

I would have thought it a good idea to wrap the bucket holes in jeans. It should at least slow down the leaks, and then wring out water that soaked into the jeans.
Denim would be good, but maybe even the tribe buff would be good cause it’s really stretchy and can wrap around the bucket easier

My kids are GenZ and they have watched shows from the 50s today. It makes them well rounded.
I figured out the savvy quite easily, but because it's a classic style of a word search: find all the words and the remaining letters spell out a secret phrase.

Sweat Challenge: Put the two buckets together to fill the holes then take turns running to get the water...duh.

Ok, but "a couple" literally means two. I get that what she's saying is don't be so worried about particulars when you're using a "general" term, but I'd argue that two is a couple (because it is) and more than two can range from a few to several.
**EDIT** I will say that as far as loose time constraints go that it's irrelevant. Like how Frannie said "I'll be there in a couple of minutes." I agree that you shouldn't expect two minutes on the dot. I'll say "in a minute" and it could be an hour later. It's just an estimate, so sue me!
If Q and Jalensky were to "savvy" the sweat challenge, i bet they could have opted to carry only one bucket together back and forth covering as many holes as possible
Or do a bucket line. Each carry the bucket halfway.

using one bucket for two pots would take a lot more time though
I wonder if they cudv placed the one bucket into the other, so that it covered most of the holes.. n started a bucket line halfway, so they worked tgether n lost less water...
I never saw elsbeth either. Jelinsky was nice but messed up at every opportunity. Easy decision to put him out

Can someone explain what is/where club condo reference is from?
Jeff Probst said something during Tribal Council along the lines of "its a state of mind, call it Full Tilt Boogie, call it Club Condo." And while 'Full Tilt Boogie' stuck a bit more in the Survivor meme lexicon, there was a lot of RHAP hubbub asking, "okay, Full Tilt Boogie, but what's Club Condo?!?!"

I mostly agree with Frannie on the topic of colloquial use of words like "few" and "several". Really it's about context. "Take a few" in the context of a plate of 10 cookies when you have 3 others wanting cookies shouldn't be interpreted as taking 4+, but "take a few" in the context of a million cookies and 3 others, then go wild and grab 100. I'd say "several hours" really just means 2+ but not to the point of "many" so in the context of the Sweat challenge would likely be 3-5 hours given the factors at play.
Re: original meaning of several -- my guess is several/sever/severance likely share etymology with "separate" (i.e. many separate individual items is several) rather than seven.
My frustration of colloquial use comes when someone uses phrases like "oh I'll be free in a couple of minutes" consistently only for that to mean 10+ minutes time and time again. Couple does mean 2 but colloquially I allow it to mean 3 as well, and don't really mind 4, but using "couple" for 5 is where I draw the line.
with the trip whoever got the torch should’ve had no consequences. it would’ve made it more fair for the person who has to lie

Frannie not knowing about the Andy Griffith show makes me feel old, though I realized she is younger than two of my children. I guess it was a little plug for the show reruns. I was also annoyed by the constant intrusion of Elsbeth. More annoying than the Australian Survivor soccer ball!
Anyone under 40 probably won’t know about the Andy Griffith show.
The presence of an actual gekko within the challenge was a rather crass bit of product placement even by Survivor standards.
I like Frannie but she must be the most clueless person on the planet not to have observed ANY of the Elsbeth promos.

They need more thought and personality into their props, and this is a step in the right direction. There used to be a ton of personality in the challenges and that's been long gone.

@@lafingscarecrow Thank you..I just got Paramount to watch all seasons... Survivor is sooooooooo good ..I am on season 11... Guatemala was miserable..they didn't even have a ocean!!!Crocs in a lake!
