I found this sweet ladies channel a week ago. I had no idea she had went to Heaven. I'm 58 yrs old and I could never make a biscuit until I watched this video. People always said I was playing with my dough too much. Well I never really understood what they meant, but I do now. Wish this sweet lady knew how much she helped me make biscuits. 💜
I hope you have been able to watch all of her shows. I found her several years ago before her husband passed over and then this lovely angel, both beautiful sweet people. She is a wonderful cook I have made almost all of them.
Miss Phyllis, I can't began to tell you how much I appreciate you and your channel. As a veteran with PTSD, the peace that flows from you and your recipes and stories calm my heart. I loved her channel. She and her husband and the dogs. Broke my heart when she went to join the Lord. I still come back and watch every now and then. Her son is doing a wonderful job with the channel.
It was bitter sweet watching this RIP Miss Phyllis. Steven said these are the best I will have to try them tonight and then I can have biscuits and gravy tonight. God bless you and Mr Bucky. Steven is doing a great job with your channel.
I am making these!! Oh and my mother had a brush just like the wired one.....hers was white and it had the boars head bristles! The white coating on the wire peeled off and the wire rusted before a single bristle fell out :) I can see it now in my mind laying in it's special spot in her silverware drawer right next to her "little white knife" ❤️ Love how you unknowingly bloom fond memories for me x
Miss Phyllis, I just made these biscuits and OMG they are too delish!! My husband could not stop raving about these...he ate about 4 and I made them BIG! LOL. Thank you for such a tasty and easy recipe. God Bless
I just saw this tonight. I also had to watch Miss Phyllis make biscuits again. You two are so much alike. Thank you for keeping the videos going. RIP Miss Phyllis and Mr Bucky. God Bless you Stephen.
this is the quintessential Ms. Phyllis video. Southern cooking, cooking tips, time saving, money saving plus a lil story about her grandma, and her never give up attitude.
Phyllis, I've watched dozens and dozens of your videos and you have a way of making a complicated recipe so simple. Thank you very much! One of my favorite biscuits are the ones they serve at red lobster. They have cheese in the dough and are buttered with a rich garlic butter on top. I would imagine this would be an easy add to your biscuits when having seafood or Italian food. Thank you again for all you do.
It's important to learn and pass on the traditional cooking recipes and methods from our relatives. Every Sunday, I would go to my Grandmother's house after church. We would cook together and do the dishes...by hand. It is a special memory of mine. When my daughter was young, we baked together. You are an integral part of this legacy to so many. When I was younger, I made everything from scratch, somehow got away from that practice. You have renewed my vigor for 'homemade' again! Thanks Phyllis.
Thank you for your videos! My Grandmothers & Mom are passed on and I treasure what I learned from them and the stories they told me. I came from a very Italian heritage. Watching your videos I'm now learning a whole new world of southern cooking! God bless!! 😊
Ms. Phyllis I have to tell you I’ve become a butter-biscuit-making-fool!! In a good way tho...lol...love cutting the butter in the food processor, saves time and the butter is cut up much finer. I will share that I altered the recipe a bit. For 4 cups of SR flour I add 1.5 sticks of cold butter and 1 teaspoon of baking SODA...wow what a rise it makes...! Still with 2 cups of buttermilk, tho I find with Gold Medal flour I have to use 1/4-1/2 cup more butter milk. Anyway, just can’t thank you enough for teaching me to make biscuits I’m proud of and I know my mother would be proud too. Warm hug... I’m wiped out from the week so I’m laying it down. Good night Ma’am. 🙂
I wish you would make a cook book, but then we couldn't watch and hear you explain everything in that wonderful and calming voice. The twins, Abby and Aaron love making your recipes. Thank you and keep doing the video's.
I just watched Stephen make biscuits and now Miss Phyllis. I’m missing her. It’s like visiting a friend. Stephen my heart goes out to you as you grieve your Mum. She’s was such a nice woman. Warm and kind.
I love how you go the extra mile to help us old timers who have lost our mom's to early to get all her secrets. I just love your videos and how you have brought back so many of my southern roots recipes back to me. My all time favorite and I have made it twice now, is the tomato pie. God Bless you and I have even been writing down your recipes and have shared them with my sisters. You're a jewel. 🤗🤠
This reminds me of my mom's biscuits. My parents were married in 1939 and were "poor as church mice". She never owned a biscuit cutter but used an old Carnation milk can, lid removed, of course, to cut her biscuits. I don't know what happened to her biscuit cutter, but, wish I had it. Thanks, Phyllis
Jeannie Alford My mother used the cream can as a cabbage chopper, I remember that well chopping big dish pans of garden grown cabbage for her to can saur kraut and I used one forever after I got married 76 thankfully I still have mine I haven't seen it for years I am just now wondering if some tossed it thinking it was trash, I would just put the empty can on a burner and get it hot and then knock off the top and you had a new cabbage cutter, mommy always made a well in her self rising flour poured in her buttermilk and lard and mixed it with her fingers and hand until she had a dough inside the well to make her biscuits then cut them off with the edges of her hands made them into a biscuit and put them in the cast iron skillet I mad them like that for years BUT now I just mix the dough up and drop it to the pan with a big spoon and bake lazy I know but it still tastes good LOL I am going to look through my cabinets to see if I can find my cream can cutter I only have the one since by the time i needed another one they changed the way thy put the lids on the cans and you can't get one any longer, oh and I always top off where I had punched holes and that made the bottom smooth on your hand when chopping, thanks for the memory Jeannie I got so many memories when I watch Miss Phyllis cook and tell her stories
Loved Phyllis cookin.she will be missed, but her recipes will live on.so nice to see you son, honoring her an Mr bucky.luv to hear the stories of your childhood. Also would like to see pics of your travels. Thank you so much, and am deeply saddened of your loss. But you do have good memories. God bless.
Will be making this recipe for my family this weekend after hearing Steven praising them. How I would love to have so many video's of my mom to hear her voice and see her when healthy...how lucky you are Steven. RIP Ms. Phyllis, god bless!
Watched Mr. Stephen make these, wanted to come over and watch you. What a precious son'.... we're all proud of him. You're being so missed, our heart hurts... but we know you're with Mr. Bucky.. Heaven is blessed...
Loved watching. YUM! When my kids were young I made biscuits almost everyday. My neighbor used to pay me to make them for her since she didn't bake much! Thanks for sharing and for reviving some happy memories! God Bless, Linda.
How I miss Sweet Phyllis' calming and soothing voice💖~Earth's loss is certainly Heaven's GAIN, and I can just bet that she and Mr. Bucky are helping to cook one big, delicious FEAST☺ on that bountiful table, surrounded by many Lovely Angels🌠:)
I am delighted to have found your channel! And you're a fellow South Carolinian!! Nothing like Southern cooking. Thank you for recipes, instructions, tips, tricks and stories. Really enjoy you and your husband's interactions. Wonderful to join your community of subscribers!
Warm with honey and lots of butter; that’s how I like to eat my biscuits! Steven also did well in making them himself, but in a preheated cast iron baking pan-and since I have one like his, I’ll try that tomorrow. Thanks for referencing this video; she is a joy to watch-unpretentious and soft spoken.
Hi Ms. Phyllis ❤ Today in my home I accomplished something that I didn't think possible. I taught my teens to bake from scratch! I'm 35, lost my nana at 13 and my mama has just never cared. Anyhow, because of your videos I'm learning things that my nana was teaching me and now I'm teaching my girls. I thank you so much for taking your time to do this, it's very appreciated. ❤Amanda
Bringing back memories! My grandmother would mash together brown sugar, butter and milk, and give us a slice of white bread to dip in it for desert. Love those simple ideas.
My grandparents would mix some soft butter and either white or dark corn syrup and put it on their homemade biscuits. It was so good! After watching your video, now I want some homemade biscuits straight out of the oven! Lol
Those look incredible. They look just like what my mom used to make. I remember mom added bacon grease she used to keep on the stove instead of butter. They went quickly so they didn't get buttered on top. You got what you wanted and were grateful. I surely miss momma's bisq. Now with your recipe I can have them again. Thank you so very much
Phyllis, I miss you so very much! I miss all your delicious recipes too. Most of all, I miss that I can just play your video for the day, and as your teaching us all with love how to make something, the conversation is as I was right there with you. I miss you so much xoxo You touched thousands of lives! Your son Phyllis will do great continuing your channel. He’s so nice, and so much like his mama. :) I send you a thousand angel kisses ~
I love that MS Phyllis makes biscuits so many different ways and look amazing...I watch another sweet Christian woman but she only makes biscuits one way... She doesn't make cakes like Ms Phyllis either but I still love watching her....We miss you Ms Phyllis and Mr Bucky too ❤
We're making this tomorrow for "Sunday Breakfast for Dinner" . I ordered the White Lily flour off Amazon. ( we don't have it up here). Can't wait to try it for the first time! And in case anybody is interested, I called the White Lily Company, and they use only American wheat, and the flour is processed in Ohio. It's the real deal! p.s. update. they were divine and everyone loved them!
My kiddos just asked for me to make Mrs. Phyllis's biscuit's and couldn't understand why it made me cry😇I watch her videos on our big tv so we all watch together it was hard to bring myself to tell them Mrs. Phyllis is no longer with us, My daughter said So Mrs. Phyllis is our Angel now😥
I’m a newcomer to watching her videos. Only discovered them last summer. I had never made her biscuits but decided today would be the day.....even went to Walmart to get the food processor and it’s great by the way and still inexpensive! Loved the biscuits. Loved Phyllis and will miss her deeply!
Eileen Cross No, my late aunt use to can it and I never thought of asking her for the recipe for it and she made some awesome jellies and preserves as well. By far the best I've ever eaten. Sorry 💜❤😘
Eileen, I know this is old, but the channel FoodWishes has a great apple butter recipe. He is an old culinary college teacher, so his recipes are pretty reliable. Just type in Food Wishes Apple Butter and it should come up. I make apple butter every fall!
I love making and eating homemade biscuits, my folks were from the south and I watched my mother make homemade biscuits every single Saturday morning along with homemade Sausage gravy for us kids, and yes..there were 8 of us and 2 adults. Now that I’m married I try all kinds of biscuits from Pinterest, and watch these U-tube videos. Yummy..they all are.
I recently found Miss Phyllis's channel. I am so sorry that I didn't find her before she passed. What a lovely, beautiful person. What a beautiful voice and kind spirit. RIP.
Phyllis, we love your channel! Old fashioned Southern Buttermilk Biscuits also have 1/2 to 1 tsp. baking soda added to plain flour. The action of the buttermilk with the baking soda makes them rise higher. I taught Home Ec. for many years. Thanks!!
All of her videos won't be the same but thank you for allowing us to keep watching and learning in her memory!!!! All my love and prayers to the family!!!
just found your channel Ms Phyllis ! I started watching a few of your videos and will continue to. I can't wait to try your biscuits ! rest well and thank you for leaving us with your delicious recipes, stories including those with your beloved..Mr Bucky. RIP.
I Am 61 and remember mixing butter with honey, syrup, or whatever we had and dipping biscuits! This brought wonderful memories to mind. Adore you and your channel. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
I love watching and learning from you Phyllis...ive only recently discovered you accidentally ...I saw yr husband briefly twice before he passed ...I'm so sorry about this, and pray for you ...but well done carrying on ...its like having a lovley grand Ma to listen to ,and I feel comforted and safe .....x
I love your brushes, I still am using my Grandmothers little brush that is like that. I am over 60 years of age and this was already in good use when I was very young. Love seeing your video's makes me feel good to see other people can cook like me.
Oh my gosh! My grandparents came from Arkansas to WA state after WWII but the south never left them. So many of ypur recipes and stories remind me of them, as well as your beautiful southern drawl!! I love your videos! Thank you so much for being such a valuable resource for so many! My pappy used to mix honey/molasses/Kari syrup with butter and sop it up with a biscuit or his dollar cakes he always made. We sure do miss them, but I have my memories and you help trigger them!! Thanks again, Lisa ❤
Thank you Steven for mentioning your Mom's Biscuits. I'm doing food storage and you Mom gave add'l needed information. I printed her recipe to have on hand.
@@christinaoklaohio7926 preheat oven to 450 F and grease a cookie sheet with shortening. 4 cups self rising flour, 1 heaping tsp Baking Powder, 6 TBSP cold butter, 2 cups whole milk buttermilk. Quickly mix the butter into the flour and baking powder ( Phyllis used the food processor but I grate my butter from frozen straight into the flour with a fork) you don't want to make the butter start to melt, then if you used a food processor pour the flour/baking powder/butter mixture into a large mixing bowl. Pour in the buttermilk and gently but quickly fold in the milk. Then place a sheet of wax paper on your cutting surface. Dust the wax paper with the self rising flour (a couple of hands full), pour your wet dough out onto the floured wax paper and dust the top of it with flour. adding flour to the top as you gently press/flatten the dough to about 1/2 " all over. pour about a handful of flour off to one side of the dough and use this to dust your cutter between cutting each biscuit with a biscuit cutter (2-3" cutter or thin edge drinking glass) (I use a tomato paste can for tiny biscuits) place each cut biscuit on the cookie sheet (try to knock off a little of the flour that might be on the bottom first. bake 20-30 minutes till golden brown (this time will depend on your oven. brush with melted butter after removing biscuits from oven and they are still hot.
Another great video. I have to tell you Phyllis, My Dad is sick right now, and on the weekends he is with me at my house. I sit up at night with him, and I look forward to your video's at 1 and 2:00 in the morning. Good therapy for me. Very glad I found your channel. I love my real butter. I will make these in my food processor soon. These will be good with my sausage gravy too. God Bless you and Mr. Buckey.
I like that you didn't include the ridiculous stuff about butter needs to be cold and twisting the cutter will keep biscuits from rising. I can't see any reason to use a round cutter, just a bench knife and make them square. Real butter milk is what is left after churning butter, so low fat is probably closer to what grandma used. I remember sitting on grandpa's lap eating biscuits slathered with the very heavy cream that was skimmed off the top of the cream mixed with a little sugar and cinnamon.
Hey Phyllis, I can't believe I'm telling you this. I've been married for almost forty one years. I have never made biscuits or a pie crust. I always cook and raised two kids. I am going too try your recipe for biscuits. Will let you know how they turn out.
I LOVED this video, and I have made biscuits in the past, you did this so well. Your directions, both verbal and printed are so complete and easy to understand!! I have never frozen biscuit dough, doesn't sound like a good idea to me, either!!! If I didn't have time, sticking it in the frig would work until the next day!!! Glad you found the receipt, I was going to look at Walmart for those brushes, I need a new one, as I never stick my old ones in the dishwasher as they are wooden and take a long time to dry!!!! We don't have one of those stores nearby, but I will check out Walmart or another store or even dollar stores nearby, I think it is time to move on, sticking it in the dishwasher makes a lot of sense!!! You are very, very smart!!!! Hope you and Mr. Bucky have a great Lord's Day. Keep looking UP!!!!
Aaw Phyllis, i wish you could see just how many people you have inspired. I absolutely love, your channel and the recipes that you make. I so wish i would have found you sooner. You truly are a realy "Southern Lady"....RIP Phyllis
I made these biscuits today, and they were great! Not sure if this is the recipe that Steven mentioned he loved, as Phyllis has several biscuits recipes here on RUclips, but these were very, very good. I used Organic Valley whole milk and used 1/3 c. of sour cream w/ the milk to make 2 c., as Phyllis suggested as a substitution for the "whole milk buttermilk". I also used her recipe for making self-rising flour. They were excellent biscuits. My oven doesn't run hot, but I found 20 min. was a little long in my oven, as the tops and the bottoms of the biscuits were a little over brown for my taste. Texture was soft and tender inside and crispy on the outside. I will definitely make this recipe again, but bake them for 3-4 min. less next time. I used a very large non-stick sheet cake baking pan that I got at Costco this past year at Christmas, the pan may have accounted for needing a shorter baking time too. I have many years of baking experience and haven't tried a recipe yet of Phyllis's that I didn't like! I will definitely miss her and hope her son will continue her legacy of love and her kindness of sharing her recipes with all of her RUclips fans. Amazing lady!!! Amen to Karen Brandenberger's comment here "When you don't have a mama to help you learn to cook, you can watch Phyllis. Thanks Miss Phyllis."
Thanks Phyllis!I never learned how to make scratch biscuits. That looks simple enough I'm going to try them. I'll let you know how I do. I'm from TEXAS. CAN'T get much more southern than that.
phyllis, I just absolutely love your channel. I have told my mother all about you. You remind me so much of my grandmother and she left us long before I had an interest in cooking. So when I listen to your Videos I think of her because she cooked just like you do. I have already learned so much just from watching you. I had no idea you could make your own butter milk that way. Thanks so much for the tip! can't wait to watch more of your videos. Best wishes to you and Mr. Bucky.

God Bless you and I have even been writing down your recipes and have shared them with my sisters. You're a jewel. 🤗🤠
I was thinking the same thing.
Such a joy to hear and see you Miss Phyllis. Miss you so. Thank you for all you taught me.
Jeannie Alford My mother used the cream can as a cabbage chopper, I remember that well chopping big dish pans of garden grown cabbage for her to can saur kraut and I used one forever after I got married 76 thankfully I still have mine I haven't seen it for years I am just now wondering if some tossed it thinking it was trash, I would just put the empty can on a burner and get it hot and then knock off the top and you had a new cabbage cutter, mommy always made a well in her self rising flour poured in her buttermilk and lard and mixed it with her fingers and hand until she had a dough inside the well to make her biscuits then cut them off with the edges of her hands made them into a biscuit and put them in the cast iron skillet I mad them like that for years BUT now I just mix the dough up and drop it to the pan with a big spoon and bake lazy I know but it still tastes good LOL
I am going to look through my cabinets to see if I can find my cream can cutter I only have the one since by the time i needed another one they changed the way thy put the lids on the cans and you can't get one any longer, oh and I always top off where I had punched holes and that made the bottom smooth on your hand when chopping, thanks for the memory Jeannie I got so many memories when I watch Miss Phyllis cook and tell her stories
So hard to watch her videos after she has journeyed in. This was in my recommended list so I had to. She is missed. May her journey be safe and easy.
Watched Mr. Stephen make these, wanted to come over and watch you. What a precious son'.... we're all proud of him. You're being so missed, our heart hurts... but we know you're with Mr. Bucky.. Heaven is blessed...
I loved this video. Thanks for all the little details, all your reminiscing about your grandmother and all your smiles, Miss Phyllis
Loved watching. YUM! When my kids were young I made biscuits almost everyday. My neighbor used to pay me to make them for her since she didn't bake much! Thanks for sharing and for reviving some happy memories! God Bless, Linda.
O what memories you brought back! The tinfoil on the drip pans, molasses and homemade biscuits! Rest in peace sweet Phyllis 🦋
I just watched Phyllis son Steven cook his mom's biscuits. He did an amazing job. His mom would be so proud of him.
Love watching this .just reminds me of home with all the cooking and clanking of all the kicken stuff. Gee i miss her.
❤Amanda
Emociional love it!❤
I think that is just fantastic! A tradition to be handed down.

She doesn't make cakes like Ms Phyllis either but I still love watching her....We miss you Ms Phyllis and Mr Bucky too ❤
Yummy, yummy, yummy, biscuits in my tummy!!! Can't wait to try this. So hard to avoid carbs, darn it. Love listening/watching you Miss Phyllis.
I just love her soft voice a demeanor...... what a treasure to be able to still listen to these tutorials! ❤
Phyllis is our Angel now😥
Glad I found this after Steven said how good Phyllis's biscuits were. My Momma used to make them from scratch too with buttermilk.
I’m a newcomer to watching her videos. Only discovered them last summer. I had never made her biscuits but decided today would be the day.....even went to Walmart to get the food processor and it’s great by the way and still inexpensive! Loved the biscuits. Loved Phyllis and will miss her deeply!
How i miss you immensely a week later. You will never be forgotten. Your son will do well with your channel I'm sure,
Such a good hearted lady ,and a super good cook. I really enjoyed her recipes.
Am really going to miss her ❤
@@vernitathomas8503 absolutley. I just recieved one of her paintings in print . And I just can't believe she's gone.
I just love this lady and her dear husband. I watch her all the time and use her recipes. Rest in Peace to Phyllis and Mr. Bucky
Nothing like homemade biscuits and fried apples or homemade applebutter 😊 Tyfs, God bless you
Debbie Mcclure Yes, fried apples are the best.
Debbie Mcclure do you have an Apple Butter recipe?
Eileen Cross No, my late aunt use to can it and I never thought of asking her for the recipe for it and she made some awesome jellies and preserves as well. By far the best I've ever eaten. Sorry 💜❤😘
Eileen Cross.....this is the BEST recipe we've tried..... www.food.com/recipe/crock-pot-apple-butter-93886
Eileen, I know this is old, but the channel FoodWishes has a great apple butter recipe. He is an old culinary college teacher, so his recipes are pretty reliable. Just type in Food Wishes Apple Butter and it should come up. I make apple butter every fall!
Phyllis sending me recipes from heaven.
So sweet
A small mushroom can, with top and bottom cut out, also works well as a biscuit cutter. I kept one in my utensil drawer for quite a while.
I really miss this lady so much, what a sweetheart RIP 🙏
Hi Phyllis! I made these today, and they turned out really well! My granddaughter loved them! This is a very good, very easy recipe. Thanks again! ❤
Oh these must be the biscuits Steven was talking about they look so delicious.ill try and make some of these
I recently found Miss Phyllis's channel.
Such a lovely person. Thank you for taking the time making these videos. God bless
just found your channel Ms Phyllis ! I started watching a few of your videos and will continue to. I can't wait to try your biscuits !
rest well and thank you for leaving us with your delicious recipes, stories including those with your beloved..Mr Bucky. RIP.
You will be missed your kind soft voice r.i.p with god ❤
I Am 61 and remember mixing butter with honey, syrup, or whatever we had and dipping biscuits! This brought wonderful memories to mind. Adore you and your channel. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Paula White ,I
Omg, best ever recipe. Been trying for years to make a soft fluffy biscuit. Best biscuit I've ever made, Thank You so much!!!

Ma to listen to ,and I feel comforted and safe .....x
Ms Phyllis I just want to tell you how much I (we) miss you .. I hope you have a wonderful blessed Christmas.. think about you every day
I love your brushes, I still am using my Grandmothers little brush that is like that.
Miss you Ms P you always made me feel happy with your cooking
Thank you Steven for mentioning your Mom's Biscuits. I'm doing food storage and you Mom gave add'l needed information. I printed her recipe to have on hand.
Your bread videos are among my favorites. TY dear Phyllis. I'll continue to re-watch and share.
Barbara Miller If anyone writes the recipe and directions would they please post it ....thank you. I miss Ms Phyllis very much.
Barbara Miller Oh thank you so very much for this. I really appreciate you for this. You are very kind to do this. I am so excited to make this. ❤️
I bet these are the ones Steven loves 😉💓 It's so great that Phyllis' vids are popping up for me several times a day. I really miss her. 😇
Buckey.
I can't tell you how much I love your channel! You feel like "home" and I look forward to each video!
What a good cooking teacher ! Thank you very much for sharing your tried and tested recipes !🙏
Thanks for this recipe!
Hi Phyllis. I enjoy watching your videos. I've found many of your recipes tasty. God Bless! 🙂
The ultimate southern cook. My grandma mashed her butter with syrup and ate it the same way. AWSOME!!!
My family is enjoying your beautiful cooking . You've given me so many ideas and I love love love watching you and mr Bucky
Aaw Phyllis, i wish you could see just how many people you have inspired. I absolutely love, your channel and the recipes that you make. I so wish i would have found you sooner. You truly are a realy "Southern Lady"....RIP Phyllis
You're the best! I just feel better after watching you!
Bucky.
