I discovered Ms. Phyllis' videos months after her passing, she had quickly become a friend I watched daily. I wept when I learned that she had passed, so grateful this channel remains. Thank you Steven.
I so enjoyed these videos when Phyllis was alive. I really miss watching her. I am grateful her son kept her channel available on UTube. I constantly go here for her recipes and foodie inspirations. I love her mild, laid back approach to life. R.I.P. my dear Phyllis. Wish I had been able to meet you.❤
3-22-24 I adored this woman and her channel just before and during COVID. When Mr Bucky dies then she died, a part of me started to get and feel old. My heart misses her.
you have such a pleasant voice and demeanor. no stupid annoying soundtrack. and just a smooth and easy to understand display of how to make biscuits. great job. Phyllis!
I use to watch Phyllis, and then she left us,but she still lives on,her voice so mellow,I loved her stories. Never knew her cause of her death, but I hope she didn't suffer much. I made this recipe long time ago,and those biscuits are sooo good! I remember when she told the story on losing her grown child,I cry so much,bc I too lost my son at 28 yrs of age,so I know that feeling. Thanks for keeping her Alive here we keep her in our hearts.
@surpriseme4275 so sad to hear that she had liver cancer. I can imagine how hard it must have been for everyone. My son had paralysis and it was so hard for him and for us,but they RIP! In the arms of our Savior.
I love how Miss Phyllis takes the time to explain why the flour amount varies. She’s right, even the same bag of flour can loose or gain humidity and therefore change the recipe. I love and miss her so much.
Love her & Miss her!!🙏🙏💓💓Great Teacher & Love her Personality!! Thank you for Keeping her Videos Up & Running!! I watch them all the time!!🤗 God Bless You Guys!!🥰🙏🙏💓💓👑
Lol... Haters.., or maybe glueten free vegans... They say no to butter... Butter makes everything good!!!!.. I like butter on toast in eggs in meat, with chops, heck I like butter so much I buy it in powdered form....lolol. about the only thing I don't use butter is over my bacon....lol..
Melisa Ruiz it’s probably people that don’t understand that she’s teaching the old time recipes, originally how recipes were made....before there was vegans, and health nuts roaming the earth lol
This lady was an ace when it came to baking anything and she was very distinct in her explanation while adding each and every ingredient. Boy do I miss her, rest in peace sweet lady 🙏🙏
Glad I found this video I didn't know she had one on angel biscuits, the boys and I are going to try that recipe we sure do miss her. I sure am glad you kept these videos up.
We miss you Ms. Phyllis, Thank you for all your wisdom,an leaving footprints behind for us, in cooking, faith, an showing this ole world, how to be kind, loving, believe in one self. I thank your family for keeping your videos alive. There is so much we can still learn from you. We are never really gone, what you have shared is still here with us, an in our hearts.
Mrs. Stokes, I lost my mom two years ago and was missing her homemade biscuits on Easter Sunday. Well I came across your angel biscuit recipe and they turned out great! I enjoyed them with warm thought of mom. Thank you and keep up the good work.
I just stumbled upon this lady and her food recipe videos. All I can say is that she is old school cool with recipes that have stood the test of time. I love how she breaks it all down when it comes to ingredients and process. She just took me back in time watching good food being made from scratch. I can't imagine how awesome her kitchen must smell all the time she's cooking..😋
I have been making these angel biscuits for our Thanksgiving dinner ever since I found this video with Mrs. Phyllis! They are SO very good! I do miss both her videos and her sweet stories :)
Thank you Steven!! I found this recently and tried them. They turned out great! I was so sorry to hear that Phyllis passed away. I’m so sorry for your loss!! So thankful this still remains for people like me who has zero baking skills!! God bless you!!
I miss dear Miss Phyllis. 😪 She was so delightful to watch & learn from. I'm a born & raised Minnesotan & I'm a fanatic for biscuits. I'm going to try Miss Phyllis' recipe very soon. Thanks, Mr. Steve for maintaining your mom's channel, & for putting your own touches to it.
I've had yeast biscuits years ago. They were so incredibly delicious, but no one knew how to recreate them. I thank you, from the bottom of my heart for sharing your recipes. It's great to pass along such freat goodness to the next generation!
Ms Phyllis, I miss you so much. I love all your recipes ! even if I have already made it . I just love watching and listening to your soothing voice. I have learned how to cook,Thanks to you❣ My favorite persons on RUclips ever..You and Mr. Bucky.
I miss her too. I still watch her videos, and sometimes make her recipe just for fellowship purposes i suppose. And I am so grateful to Steven for keeping the channel going. Lol,, I watch his too especially his copies of his mom's recipes. Yes folks, this world still has wonderful people, they came from wonderful people!!!
I watch this video over and over and can't get tired of it. They look so beautiful done. I swear i can smell dough in the oven baking. Love you Mrs. Bucky.
I love that you don't get rattled! Your voice is soothing & you take your time to explain why you are doing what! That helps mebe a better cook because I am hyper as HELL which doesn't help me in the kitchen. So thank you for showing me that if I take my time and listen to you I can also be a great cook & baker like you!!
OK, I watched this twice, my mouth was watering when you started buttering the tops, that did it! I cut the recipe in half and made them..................OMG!!!!!!!!!! they are... OUT OF THIS WORLD, DELICIOUS!!! Thank you! for the next 3 inches on my waistline :-)
Thanks Phyllis, I have been making biscuits for over 60 years. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks but these look too yummy to pass up. I want to thank you also for the 1950's coconut cake. I used to make this one years ago, but lost a lot of my recipes in a house fire many years ago. So glad to see that you had posted this one, also.
First the bad news. . . By the time I finished the dough, I had flour everywhere, on the floor, all over me, maybe even on the cat down the street My finished dough did not look like yours - you are good! Then, my cut biscuits didn't rise. NOW THE GOOD NEWS I baked them anyway. They did rise in the oven and, even though mine don't look quite like yours. . . THEY ARE THE BEST BISCUITS I EVER ATE! Thanks for this video! Happy Thanksgiving 2018!
Good doesn't always have ti to be pretty. I'm glad I read your comment. I'm not alone. I dont care if it looks a little off, I'm going to bake it anyway. I've done this with a few new recipes and they tasted great.
Phyllis I had to turn off my TV and hold computer up to my ear to hear you speak, you're as soft and an Angel as your biscuits! Keep up the good work. HGTV should grab you! You Stoke'd me to want to make these. Thanks for being an angel and making angel biscuits.
I love love love these *new* biscuits...I stumbled upon them less than a week ago...and have made them twice already...the first batch was amazing...I was telling everyone about them...and shared them with ladies that I considered very good southern cooks and they loved them...had to have the recipe. They were so scrumptious and disappeared so fast..I made a second batch right away... My husband said he only wants me to make these from now on...*melt in your mouth..soft..even at room temp...I have always loved yeast rolls ...these are the perfect cross between a yeast roll and southern biscuits ..*just as you described them*--.and yes they do freeze well.... actually I tried to freeze them but had to pull them back out because we could not stop eating them. I am enjoying all of your videos. Thanks for sharing.
My husband is from Kentucky and we lived in North Tennessee for about 6 years. While there, I worked as a substitute teacher and fell in love with the biscuits served at the school where I subbed most often. These look exactly like the ones the school served, and I can't wait to try them! Thank you for sharing!
I had to come back after making these Miss Phillis and thank you for the recipe, they are delicious. Toasted they are a treat indeed. Thank you and I know you make the Lord smile.
Phyllis There was a store where I used to live who made biscuits just like this, but they got a mix in and had no recipe. These things are awesome! I have been looking for a recipe for 20 years!!! Thank you for sharing! All of my love and the love, blessings, peace and grace of our LORD ALMIGHTY unto you and yours, today and for always!!
I made these again yesterday but this time, I made them bigger in diameter and used them for hamburger buns.... OMG they are so darn good. My family loves them.
I love biscuits & now, I love that Welch's Natural jam she featured. After I first watched this last year, I bought some. Now it's the only jam I buy, I love it so much. Several times since my first jar, I've looked up & thanked Miss Phyllis. 😊 Sure miss her. But thanks to her son, Steve, we still have her old videos. Yay!
Pretty much everyone who makes videos has trolls who follow and always give thumbs down because mostly they have been block from making comments so the only thing they can do is give thumbs down.
As I'm reading the comments some people say you have a soothing voice, and I had thought the same, you remind me of Bob Ross the painter. He was such a nice person and so are you blessings to you and your family.
Yes, indeed. So many of the folks making these videos are such high drama it's hard to watch. When some of the women (or men) start with the sing-songy, high-pitiched drama queen antics, I just turn it off. It becomes about them instead of the recipe. This lovely lady is calm and soothing so you pay attention to her recipe instead of having to wade through the drama.
I Will Be Making God Willing For Xmas And I Truly Miss This Wonderful Lady She Was A Excellent Cook ! May She Continue To Rest In Heavenly Peace And Wish Her Son & Family A Merry Xmas & Happy Blessed New Year !
They look delicious!! My grandma Mary has a "angel biscuit" recipe that I need to dig out! God rest her soul...she was one of the best southern cooks in Alabama! You inspired me! Thanks for sharing! Have a great day! : )
Okay,... I tried this recipe last night and the rolls came out great!!!! I added just a tad more sugar (1/2 cup) and the rolls taste exactly like my favorite store brought rolls in the freezer section, I was floored when I tasted them. I will never again buy frozen dinner rolls EVER. Thank you Ms. Phyllis.
Phyllis I feel you can see everything down here on earth from heaven. I'm enjoying your videos of you cooking up delicious food. I'm going to make these biscuits after I make your Butter Biscuits. I feel you can read our comments from above because your back home with our Lord God Jesus Christ. It's a blessing your family is leaving your videos up for all who wants to cook delicious foods. Amen
When my MIL passed away, the reverend that officiated her funeral called each one of us to ask about her. (She wasn’t a church goer) He said during her service that he learned a lot about her and found something that we all mentioned, and then he said “Mildred was a wonderful cook, no matter what she made it included_______” and we all in unison said “a stick of BUTTER” 💞 and I blame her for MY butter layers. 😂 I hadn’t even had real butter until I met her. Don’t serve me margarine or spread!
I had to come back on this EASTER MORNING Miss Phyliss to copy your recipe to make for our 2pm gathering today. How I miss you but enjoy seeing your son carry on. YOU and Bucky did a wonderful job raising him with his head on straight and devoted to God family and community. Rest in Peace on this glorious day.
Oh mercy do you have a velvet voice! I am so happy to have this dearly loved recipe too Ms. Stokes!I had a neighbor that I loved so much as a child in Aliceville Alabama that made these quite often for me because she loved me like a grandson. I kept her garden up and cut the grass and so forth, and we always brought her to church with us. She must be the angel that brought me to find your video! Thanks So much for your light!
I have to thank you Mrs. Phyllis...I am a good cook and totally into baking cakes from scratch but I always shied away from dealing with dough. My mother had a hard time making biscuits growing up and it always looked too complicated especially when dealing with yeast. But, when I saw this video, something clicked and I knew this was a more simple approach and it would give me the result that I was looking for. So, I'm happy to say that I did make these for my Thanksgiving meal...I did exactly as you instructed and they turned out perfect! My family raved at how light and delicious they are...I had some store bought rolls on the side just in case of disaster but, when I took these out of the oven, I knew there would be no need to open the ones from the store...Lol! Again, thank you soo much for not being a "secretive" cook and taking the time to share this wonderful recipe with us all. I hope you're have\ing a blessed and wonderful Holiday season...Take care!
+Tamar411 Thanks for letting me know how the roll/biscuits turned out. Very glad they were a success. We had a very quiet Thanksgiving and have continued studying all the things we'll need to know about RVing. Right now we're trying to figure out the best cellphone plan to use for uploading videos from the RV. We know we can use hotspots like Walmart, Lowe's and Starbuck's WiFi for free but we might not be there to upload so we'll need something to create a hotspot in our RV. So many plans it gets a little confusing.
Ms.Phyllis! Praying All things work out for you (RV Plans) & Mr. Bucky!! We All Love You Guy!! Please Don’t Stop making your Videos!!🙏🙌👍👍😘❤️❤️❤️ You Are One Awesome Cook!!😊😋👍🙌😍
Wow, so many tips & secrets that other cooks don't know, are stingy about sharing or just don't take the time to share. You're as kind & loving as a Mother who.....I'm at a loss for words....it's like I'm back in my Mother kitchen. She raised 7 girls with God's blessings of intuition, understanding & patience. Thank you for sharing your love with us.
Can you post the recipe please? My sister used to make these and I have lost the recipe. She has passed now. I know they are so good. She was the best cook.
Oh my Ur The super great southern woman cook Minnesota but it still bought it still hurts my heart because I you just kind of grew on my heart you just were awesome you knew so much you're none of your son you are just one of the kindness feels I'm happy you're not in pain I lost my mother too quite a while back you'd be proud we made biscuits today the first time thank u Miss Phyllis
I've made yeast bread and biscuits for many years...never have I seen a recipe like this..I MUST try it. I shared it with my sister, living in the South..North Carolina, and she has heard of this kind of recipe, so it must be known by a few more than I imagined. Plus, we both decided that to have Phyllis Stokes as a neighbor would be about the most perfect thing ever. Love her easy manner. Thank you, Ms. Stokes for sharing this.
your hands look as though you work or have worked very hard in your lifetime, however, your voice is so soothing. the perfect blend of "get ER done" and "just calm down and dont worry". I'm very glad I came across your video. thank you!
I discovered Ms. Phyllis' videos months after her passing, she had quickly become a friend I watched daily. I wept when I learned that she had passed, so grateful this channel remains. Thank you Steven.

My Aunt used to make these when I was little. She passed away in 2015 and as far as I know her recipe was never passed on. I'm glad I found this!
Amen
I'm definitely making these I love that combination of yeast in a biscuit.
I like when a cook/chef eat their cooking. Really like your style!
You had me at "two sticks of butter."
This made me laugh so hard lol lol
ME TOO‼️‼️👍😍
Me three! I was just giggling!😄
Lol true
Hi from OZ, yes the voice got me too, wonderful lady.
Tanna.... What a Beautiful Heartfelt Story!! I know this touched Ms. Phyllis’ Heart!! As well as Mine!!🙌😊🙌🙏🙌😇❤️
Tanna Tanna I have relatives in aliceville. My great grandparents were named STOKES. we may be related.
I heard Miss Phyllis say "angel biscuits" while I was leaving the room. Ok course I watched!
Please Don’t Stop making your Videos!!🙏🙌👍👍😘❤️❤️❤️ You Are One Awesome Cook!!😊😋👍🙌😍
when it's june but youre already plan thanksgiving dinner... about to pull 2 pans of these for the holidays !
porkswords OMG!!! I want them with butter & jelly, or 🍯 honey, And my very favorite, GRAVY 😍😍😍uuuummmmy
I love her videos! Such good recipes given in her sweet voice! I’m glad we have her videos because we miss her!
I heard twisting the cutter when cutting out the biscuits seals the edges. I try to cut straight down and back up. :) :) :)
That's what my grandma told me. I don't twist the cutter on biscuits or cookies.
Me too. 🙂
Girl you are a natural when it comes to instruction and teaching. I am trying this recipe
Making these right now! They are rising away and can't wait to taste them :)
were they good?
I am from Australia, so i don't technically know what a good biscuit is. But they turned out to look exactly like yours and tasted so darn good :)
Beautifully done, miss her soooooo much.
I made these, came out great!
Try putting breakfast sausage and honey in one!
You will hate yourself later, but...
"You will hate yourself later..." Haha...LOL!❤️

I still miss her
I've made yeast bread and biscuits for many years...never have I seen a recipe like this..I MUST try it.
Wow those look fantastic. Can't wait to give this recipe a whirl. Btw you have the most soothing and comforting voice!

your hands look as though you work or have worked very hard in your lifetime, however, your voice is so soothing. the perfect blend of "get ER done" and "just calm down and dont worry". I'm very glad I came across your video. thank you!
