Tiny Raccoon Comes to the Door For Food

We have a raccoon friend who used to visit and take bread from our hands... his name is Rocky. We'd had weird weather that winter and he'd wake up from hibernation early, ask for food, then go to sleep again for awhile, then wake back up and ask for food again. He was around during 2022 and 2023, then we didn't see him again after last winter... that we know of- he could be one of the adult raccoons who visit here now!

We are kindred spirits ❤❤. I have been feeding a Momma raccoon on my deck for years. I named her Racquel. Every spring, she brings her kits with her . I save my leftover food and buy her cat food, bananas, and marshmallows for a treat. ❤🐾❤🐾♥️🐾♥️🐾♥️

I woke up one morning in the early am to a mom and four babies. They were just stand ing at my glass door wondering why everything was off and quiet. So they got the dog's attention and she woke us up.

I think there is a family of five raccoons living under the deck in the backyard but I'm not going to feed them.

Yeah, cute now, but become aggressive and territorial as an adult. Feeding them like this takes away fear of humans so that one day they will approach the wrong human and will end up doing harm or being harmed because of it. Also, they can seriously damage a house trying to break into the attic or basement to get out of inclement weather to nest. Sometimes it is better to watch wild life from a far rather than interfere and cause trouble for both you and the animals in the future.
