I was working this game as an Andy Frain usher by the Zamboni entrance. There were so many people in front of me against the glass I couldn't see a thing. All I could see was the upper level on the other side of the rink. When Roenick scored that goal, I saw the entire upper level jump at once and it felt like the Stadium was going to come crashing down around us. The memory of that ROAR together with the goal horn still gives me chills...
Gregory Smith I was 14 when this game was played, was on the second balcony and yes it felt like we were gonna crash down to the first. Still gives me chills as well. Good times!
@John these are the players I remember. We were lucky to get the teams in the 2010s but these 90s squads have a place in my heart. Too bad they were on Hawk Vision. Sad.
Thanks for posting this video. I've seen a few others online, but not this quality. I remember listing to this game on 670 ( I was 14 and couldn't afford to pay my parents for Hawkvison!) what a great call by Pat Foley.
One of the greatest Pat Foley calls! One of the best play by play announcers who captured the enthusiasm of playoff hockey. "As the Blackhawks returned from the dead!" Classic!
Hi Jeff, do you have this entire game? I was there with my dad and we were on TV a couple of times. Would love to show him if it's posted. I looked but could not find it.
I remember watching this game on “Hawkvision” which was a pay per view to be able to see home games on TV lol. I loved going to hawks and bulls games at the old barn with my dad and brother as a kid. I still miss that old place, there was nothing like it, especially nowadays with all the cookie cutter stadiums.
I was at this game Suter tied it up with a power play goal with about 6-7 min to go..we were in the 1st balcony I got some awesome shots with my 35mm on the railing as they swept up all the hats...Miss that building big time
You do know Felix Potvin had three 1-0 shutout victories in this series? And a 1.67 GAA and .940 save percentage in 6 games. And this was against a guy who at the other end in Ed Belfour had won 2 Vezinas in three years and 3 Jennings trophies in 4 years. Don't make a generalization of the level of goalies back then based on one goal. Not to mention, you can see how much smaller the goalie pads were compared to today.
The horn in the Chicago Stadium was installed in the middle of the 1982-83 season. The horn in the Memorial Auditorium was installed just before the start of the 1987-88 season.
Aaron Fleshler wrong! Same brand “Kahlenberg” but not the same model, the horn sounds different here than what it sounds now today at the UC Originally louder I’m assuming Installed around 1984-85
ChicagoBHawks773 Correct, the Stadium horn definitely had a bit different sound and more punch than what is at the UC today. The earliest I heard it was the January 9, 1983 game against the North Stars, but it was not there at the December 19, 1982 game against the Kings. So, installed somewhere between those two dates.
skif usya good to know! I wonder if it’s the same one or just a newer model I don’t know much about them but I’m sure the air compressor or solenoid valve makes up the way it sounds Still a good piece of history regardless
That's one of Pat Foley's best calls

Wish I could of been there! I was 14 at home and couldn’t even watch it on tv thanks to Bill Wirtz. Listened to Pat and Dale on WMAQ 670.

Still gives me chills. Pat Foley with a terrific call.
The Chicago Stadium was a great place to see a game.
It was definite a place to see a game
Best place ever!
The old stadium was sounding like a freight train after Roenick’s goal! Miss that place.

For many years this was my favorite moment as a hawks fan.
Likewise! Nearly 30 years later I still find myself looking for this video. One of Pat’s best calls.
Thanks for posting this. I was at that game.
Love the horn!!! Best in hockey😎

The fucking chills this gives me
So loud and everyone hyped
Nobody gets more emotional than JR.
Roenick didn't score the last goal in the stadium. It was Mike Gartner on Apr28-94
You're right. I meant last Blackhawks goal. My fault.
HAWKS WIN!!! HAWKS WIN!!! HAWKS WIN!!! -Pat Foley, 1994

The Leafs could have drafted Roenick at the '88 draft, but passed him over for Scott Pearson! Way to go, Leafs!
Do you have the save that Potvin made (Overtime or late in the 3rd) in game 2? I remember Foley was apoplectic.
Didn't Suter score a hat trick in this game? Do you have this whole game?
That's correct, Gary Suter scored all 3 Chicago regulation-time goals in this game.

so late to this chat party how were we so lucky to have pat foley and ed olczyk to ourselves in chicago?
They were good, but Pat and Dale were great!
Randomly searching videos of my date of birth lol 😂 04/24/1994
JR brought the house down
It's crazy how terrible goalies were back then
Potvin and Belfour were awesome what are you on about

As a Canucks fan, I wish we took JR over Trevor Linden in the 1988 draft..
1994 cup run with JR and Pavel Bure?? Bye bye Rangers 😉
Sabres horn
Aaron Fleshler Sabres horn? The Stadium had that horn long before the Aud did.
