My friend Pedro and I are currently learning this beautiful peice, he's on Clarinet and I'm on Bass, we are having a difficult time, but I know we will have the peice ready for Solo and Ensemble. I just have to say, who ever composed the bass clarinet line is absoluetley amazing, the rhythms and notes are perfect! I don't think I have ever played a peice this difficult and fun ever!
Freshman me saw this and thought "man, me and my gf could totally play that!" I get the sheet music and quickly realize I was horribly mistaken because I suck at bass and my gf was new to clarinet. Sophomore me now thinks "yeah, I can probably play this now" moral of the story? Never give up, and never do a duet with your gf in high school because she might break up with you before you two do the solo for solo and ensemble

Claritastic ❤❤❤❤
I hear a lot of references to things in this piece like the contour of Happy Birthday and the bass part to Habanero, as well as Mission impossible lol
Composer Alun Cook wrote a delightful piece, "Ode to Passing Years" for clarinet and bass clarinet. It reminds me a little of Bizet's Carmen.

The intro rhythm of the bass clarinet sounds like Redcape tango bass part? Does anyone notice that?
