      I bought it in the 1990s from an electronics store. Circuit City I think. Your best route is to search Craigslist, because nobody has made them for a long time. Or you can just make one on your own.

    At first glance it doesn't seem much different from other people game rooms, but it's all the stuff going on behind the scenes that make this room amazing. The fact that every system is ready to play is unreal. Thanks for the video and well done on such a class room.

  • @thetruetekno9925
    @thetruetekno9925 2 года назад +29

    I don't think I've ever seen a game room as well-thought out and organized as this before, this is fucking incredible. You even have obscure stuff like the LJN VideoArt. The multiple TVs idea is brilliant separating the HDMI systems from the analog ones. It's truly incredible just how much stuff you crammed in here while still maintaining a clean look. But I can't resist giving a few suggestions:
    - Label the systems by name or an acronym instead of numbers on the switch boxes. Reduces the amount of memorization needed. (Ex. NES, 2600, TG-16, Saturn, etc.) I saw this when AVGN gave a tour of his game room.
    - If the LEDs work for you in the long run, try to have a single box for wiring for each side of the room. I don't know much about large LED control boxes, but you could probably think of some clever soldering solution.
    - Route the cables along the poles of the shelves to help achieve a cleaner look. Or use some kind of sheet the same color as the wall, but I think the first option is the most viable one.
    You easily earned yourself a new subscriber. Can't wait to see more!

    • @GamingTheSystems1
      @GamingTheSystems1  2 года назад +12

      Thanks for the comments. I'll just mention the numbers are listed by each console so there's no memorization. Also, I move systems around, so having numbers makes that easy. If I used acronyms, I would have to do a lot of peeling.

      I wish i didn't give up collecting, i was off to an ok start with it. This was years ago now, but i did it because i pretty much had to, i needed the money and didn't have the space. I mean, yeah i could start over again, except that now everything is so much more expensive than it was before.
      So i just accept that i have what i do now. Newer consoles and a nice collection of newer games, with the exception of PC, which is loaded with classic games off steam and GOG and so on

  • @tybread2997
    @tybread2997 2 года назад +9

    For the LED lights, you could put them in a diffuser so the light isn't so blinding. It might work out better to diffuse them, the place them down towards the consoles and facing the wall on other parts.

    • @GamingTheSystems1
      @GamingTheSystems1  2 года назад +1

    I've always enjoyed your game room. I think it's awesome that you have a room dedicated to being able to actually play the games in your collection. Too many people just collect games, but they rarely ever play them. I've subbed your channel for many years now and I always enjoy your videos. I used to use a lot of switch boxes back in the day with my old Projection 51 Inch Big Screen TV. Those colored LED lights are a nice touch for the room. It can definitely help set the mood for certain games that you're playing. They would be good for horror games etc. I thought you might show your 4th wall with a broken part, or hole in the wall, and say "hey I've broken the 4th wall" lol. I love all of those Video game magazines that you have. Having the games separate from the playing area is a good idea. It allows you to have a game room and a library for you collection. Keep up the great work my friend.

    Reminds me a lot of my setup although you're at 6x the scale of my setup. I'm juggling about 12 consoles, controllers, games and their A/V and power connections to a single tv. It's daunting but once it's setup and you have your source switching solution it's just 👌
    My young kids understand my system numbering method so now they go in and play older games too. It makes me so happy and is the reason I've been keeping my consoles for the past 20 years. They also understand my consoles are 10 - 40 years old and treat them with great respect. I couldn't be happier watching a little kid today get so much joy out of playing Sonic Adventure on a Dreamcast or The Legend of Zelda on an actual NES.
    Kudos to you and your collection and practical management system! Love what you've done here.

    • @You-gk1el
      @You-gk1el 2 года назад +1

      @@HenryEAvery ha ha ha well unfortunately you can’t run all the old consoles on hdmi so you can’t do that but they do have these hdmi switches now that has like 4 inputs and one output with a little remote kinda like the white led remotes he had, and you plug up four consoles to it and change to 1-4 inputs and it only takes up one hdmi input on your tv. They need analogue ones like that so you can swap them with a remote and have like 100 inputs on them. I’m sure they make something like that surely to god cause we ain’t the only ones that have every console known to man

    This was great. My son also started collecting systems a couple years ago and we had multiple switchers set up for the retro systems. He too spent a lot of time on Dream Cast and Genesis, this month he is more focused on the Atari 400. He plays more on the old systems than he does on the current gen. Sadly, some of the older systems cost more. I do enjoy helping him work on them when something goes wrong.

    The key to the LEDs is to have them diffused by some sort of frosty translucent material or to just have the diodes facing away from you like towards the wall. In this case id say it'd be worth it just just have the strips on the bottom of each shelf if you can to illuminate what you have. That way they can be cool accent lights and not blinding :)

    So organized. Nothing like the apartment that a Japanese collector called Fujita lives in.

    Utter dreamland. I feel cold, biting shame for getting rid of my systems decades ago. I miss my Saturn, N64 and Panasonic 3DO most. For shame... Great museum and game room.

    Great setup, nice and tidy with lots of space to breathe!
    I did the same but with WAY less consoles, because my gaming area is just a corner in the attic, and I only bought consoles I want to play. I crammed 13 consoles (M$, Nintendo, SEGA and SONY from 16-bit up to PS3/X360/WiiU) into a white 4x2 Kallax shelf unit, split every square space into 2 rectangular shelves which adds up to 16 shelves, turned 2 into drawers where all cables converge, the first has 5 frontal power buttons (main power button + 1 button for each of the 4 row/brand of consoles) plus frontal HDMi/LAN/USB/Power plug for convenience, and the other has auto HDMi switches inside and 2 frontal Bandridge SCART switches. Since all consoles are under the TV and close apart, there's no need for controller/power/video extensions, and every cable is nicely hidden along the back of the shelves. A huge CRT sits on top of the 4x2 Kallax, and the HDMi TV goes on top of a 2x2 Kallax shelf unit right next to the other. On this one, the top 2 squares are also split into 4 rectangular shelves for handhelds, a C64 and a Spectrum 48k (not connected, I use the frontal plugs in the drawers since these are hands on), and the bottom 2 squares have 2 white Lekman boxes for controllers storage. It's the best I could do to make a clean setup in the smallest space possible, I love how it turned out, but it took lots of years to decide what goes where and how to organize it all.

    An awesome setup! Can tell an insane amount of work has went into this! One tip I would have is replace the LED strips with more modern Bluetooth ones. Won't have the remotes and you could adjust the brightness, would also recommend getting bulbs to match as dimming the lights when gaming or on special occasions is quite nice!

    Very cool, especially the LED light display! I like the mini console setup as well! I'd be curious to see how the new HDMI switcher looks compared to what you have here now. I'll have to look through your channel to see if there is an updated tour video.

    Man, I hope you got good insurance and protection on all that. As well as having a reliable inspector, hvac people, etc to help ensure your house doesn’t catch fire. You can’t beat a collection like that

    Very cool!!! I can’t wait to get mine started once my house is built. Im not going all out since im not a big fan of the super retro systems or odd ball ones, but Im going the movie/game route. I do plan to use my 30” HD CRT for my older 90s consoles and my 65” LG for my newer ones. I got started last year at previous home but we sold it.

    I have my retro video game console collection configured, setup, and ready to play on my modern TV using the OSSC. No CRT space and I don't want to deal with the size and potential maintenance required. I am lazy!
    The thing is, I bought and configured a Mister FPGA. While I still own a ton of physical copies of games, I find that when I want to play, I go to the Mister.
    For anyone looking to play retro video games and not addicted to nostalgia, the Mister is likely the least expensive way to go if you are looking for CYCLE ACCURACY (slowdown where you expect slowdown, etc). Depending on your configuration, you can output hardware accurate refresh rates via analog for CRT gaming if you want it, or you can do HDMI output without the need of a scaler.
    Obviously, a Retro Pi is less expensive but also not as accurate as Mister. Really comes down to what itch a person is trying to scratch. If all a person wants is to play and don't care about hardware accuracy, the Retro Pi is great.
    Of course, if someone wants to play on real hardware on an old CRT or connected to their modern TV or whatever route they want to go, I applaud them in whatever way they want to play.
    I just find I would have been better off and had more money left over if I just went with a Mister out of the gate...
